Description

For all fans of Jacques Bogart‘s collection and particularly One Man Show edition from 1980, a new limited edition One Man Show Gold Edition was presented and announced as a modern and high quality edition.

Unlike the characteristic and very intense chypre antecedent, the new One Man Show Gold Edition provides an aromatic-fougere composition warmed by warm amber nuances.

The new limited fragrance attracts attention with its foamy and juicy sweet notes of mandarin and apples, enriched with violet flowers and orange blossom in top notes. A heart encompasses characteristic nuances of aromatic lavender and geranium spiced with cinnamon and cloves providing power and tart note. A base intertwines warm and pleasant woody accords, labdanum, ambergris and musk.

One Man Show Gold Edition is available in the same flacon shape as previous chypre edition One Man Show. The accent lies on black color and golden details. The fragrance aims at modern, contemporary and sophisticated man. It was introduced as limited edition 100 ml EDT. Edition: 2011.

Harsh, overpowering and chemically pungent. Not a great start.
However, you absolutely MUST let this one dry down and wear it for at least four hours. It takes its time but is worth the wait because like some other initially rough fragrances it blossoms into something very pleasing and somewhere you can be happy of money well spent.
Musky, leathery and rich. Best for cooler weather.

Tested in store. No offence to those who appreciate this fragrance, but not only was this harsh (as some have said), it also has a similar note to hair spray! Sorry, not appealing to me at all.

This fragrance is absolute filth! In a really good way though. The opening is chaotic, headbangingly strong and conflicted, floral, animalic, musky, a bit metallic, sickly sweet with heavy spicing. When it’s settles it’s a brutal musk, surrounded by indistinct florals and a fruity note, tinged with bubblegum. As it dries down though it becomes really interesting and a cuddly warm, spiced amber scent develops, deeply, deeply resinous. To be honest I was really in two minds about that opening but when settled, even though it still smells of musky and sweet even skanky notes I love it. The complexity is something to behold, becoming exceptionally woody, balmy even a touch smokey. This is not a typical powerhouse in the way the other one man shows are, this has eastern almost oud like vibes about it. The projection in the first 20 mins of applying is nothing short of nuclear, but does die down respectably, performance is good and im a big fan of how ridiculous this is already. Blind bought it as well so it’s extra impressive, a stonking good romp of a fragrance, probably not for everyone though.

This thing’s a beast! After the violet settles down, I love it!
    Update:
My wife hates it. I’ll have to add an extra spritz to her pillow

I am quite late to the party on this one but I am happy to report that most of the reviews below are true, the ones that say it’s weak or vile are not, but to each his own. Even after scrubbing in the shower Bogart Gold is still there. I own all the OMS flankers and I love them all, they each share a unique quality that I highly cherish. Oud Edition is a favorite, Ruby is as well and now Gold, if I only had these 3 in my collection I am pretty sure I would be happy and not want or need anything else, they are from another world and I too swear they were made in a witches cauldron with sorcery and magic! 10/10 A special thank you goes out to the creative minds that developed all the OMS editions, they are timeless. Can’t wait to smell Emerald!

What an absolute rockstar this is to the fragrance game….
I literally struggle to put into words how much I love this fragrance.
For me this is the show stopper of the O.M.S flankers, it out performs the others and is one of the best performers in my collection, genuinely lasting upwards of 6 hours with excellent sillage and good projection.
Boozey sweet amber with the orginals dna makes this one of the best bang for your buck fragrances on the market and stands toe to toe with the qualities of Bogart Pour Homme and Yves St Laurent Kouros in my opinion.
Actually on my skin this beats all others…. It is genuinely that good.
An ever present in my collection and for good reason.
    Bravo Bogart Bravo!!!

    MjrS,
You’re welcome and I’m so happy that you like Bogart OMS Gold Edition. It has all the merit. It’s an outstanding perfume, but too underrated. Better for us.

Yo dawg! We heard that you like hardcore old-school frags, so we put Kouros in your Ted Lapidus Pour Homme so you can smell like the Man while you wearing a 2011 fragrance.
Thanks to the forum member Terente for a great recommendation!

Currently, I own three products from JB (the original JBPH, JB Bogart and this one). This one is by far my favourite. It really reminds me a little bit of Kouros, which I like. There is nothing to worry about the extreme sillage, I think it is just right. In regards to the scent itself, I could swear that I had a fabric softener which smelled very similar to this. I was afraid that it would be too sweet, but it is not. I do not think that it makes any bubble gum or candy vibe. If you like Kouros, you might like this one as well. It was a nice surprise for me.

As a lover of vintage and powerfull fragrances, I read absolutely all reviews about this beautiful scent, then I blind bought it. 🙂 Bogart OMS Gold Edition is a modern perfume, but clearly inspired by classics. Some people say that Bogart OMS Gold is like a mixture of Kouros, Lapidus pour homme and Dali pour homme (?). In my oppinion, the opening of Bogart OMS Gold is very, very similar to current formulation of Puig Quorum (soapy like it), but nothing in comun with Kouros. Not at all. It can be compared with Kouros, but only by analogy of perceptions, not by similitude of smell.
The dry down has vague similarities with Lapidus, but only marginal and not so strong like Lapidus. Not so animalic like Kouros, but nor so fresh like Quorum. It’s rough, strong and persistent. Poisonous maybe (it reminds me the DDT). But I love it! It’s not for all noses. Only for connaisseurs. 🙂 Concerning the comparison with Dali pour homme, only in final it will remind finely and discreetly the smell of Dali.
Exceptional longevity and projection. On my skin lasts more than 8-9 hours. 1-2 max. 3 hours of projection, then slowly it calms and cuddle up at skin level. I would put it among the most sophisticated harsh perfumes for men.
A must have for people of category that I belong (as said above)! Loved and detestable in same time! Controversial, but adorable!
Addendum: I reviewed and completed my opinion above mentioned, it smells marginally similar to Kouros on my clothes, but just after 3-4 hours after application. Anyway, I like more the smell of Bogart than Kouros’s. Kouros is a little bit “salty” (in nauseous sense of the word) than Bogart OMS GE. It’s by far the strongest perfume I own! A gem!

This is NOT for the faint hearted, the hairless chested or haters of classic perfumes.
How does it smell? 2 parts PR Tenere and 1 part Lapidus Pour Homme. Yeah, it’s THAT potent..and it smells amazing!

Some people seem to think this is like Halloween Man Shot, which I have. I have never tried this scent, though. However, if you don’t know, there’s no soapy/lavender in HMS, nor is there chamomille, nor honey, nor iso e super (yes, someone has said that about OMSGE) – or even any noticeable wood note, nor any animalic quality. Nor does it have any apple type note, nor a “bubble gum” element. And HMS isn’t very strong, though longevity is very good. In short, they sound like they are as different as one can imagine.

Really good quality juice as with most all the Bogarts. You save money by the more basic looking bottle/spayer and low profile advertising. Fans of this house simply ‘KNOW’ what they’re getting, and that’s priceless. Only con i find(other brands) ,that comes with that, is sometimes bottles or spayers will break or leak. Luckily none yet from the Bogart house in my collection has done such. Shame on you Lapidus, Chrome Sport, Bennetons, etc
As for the aroma. Upon intitial spray i thought, Ok..not bad. Distant aroma wafts remind me of Dial for Men body wash. Most ironically, not the red or blue..but the gold one. On my most recent wearing today it reminded me of JPG Fleur du Male from the start, then morphs into a ‘brighter’ version of Dali PH, or Kouros in it’s later powdery green stage. Just a great scent to wear. I’m sure this mixes well with cannabis smoke, LOL. Great longevity also 8-10 hours at least. 2 sprays casually / 1 for work.
    8/10
    Update:
Wore this to work recently…Beastmode!! Affirmed need not more than 2 sprays…walk through spritz recommended..i do one on chest and back, sometime one in my shorts so that later in the day my ‘3rd armpit’ doesn’t smell like a taco truck (eheheheh!) . The dusty green fougere note later stages of this are awesome! All-time great status with BOMSG. Totally reminds me of a mix of Kouros/Dali PH/Lalique White. So effin good..new rating is 10/10. I hope the new Emerald Edition is as good as this.

Although not as bombastic as some of my Middle Eastern oud fragrances, this one made my eyes water and my nostrils burn after applying 3-sprays. One Man Show (GE) is loud, obnoxious, cheap, synthetic, dated, cloying, piercing and soapy–think bathroom cleaner and urinal cakes–all at the same time. Yet, I like it…go figure! Yep, some would say that it’s a scrubber and a headache inducing toxic scent, but it’s also a potent beast that, surprisingly, I don’t mind wearing when I am outdoors raking leaves or doing yard work.
One Man Show Gold Edition is like that annoying kids with ADHD and turrets: you cannot take it to work, to school, on a date, in the heat or around others for that matter. You will be shunned and/or beaten above and neck and shoulders if you do. This scent is best used on a cool day, when alone, while working outdoors or an auditorium or in a men’s room. There is limited use for this scent and it lasts and projects extremely well.
Having said the aforementioned, for $12 it’s hard to find a better performing fragrance. It is a rock-star in this category. So if you want to smell offensively sweet, soapy and loud (in my case a six-foot urinal cake)…well, you cannot do better than this one. I really should hate this scent…but I don’t. I appreciate it for what it is; it’s the best bombastic stink-bomb cheapie. A twisted sort of a like from me.

Here JB surpassed themselves, this is the most powerful and persistent edt i have, and i own hunderds of frags!!!It really clings on your body like no one else(the only one that was so powerful,on clothes, was Van Cleef and Arpels pour homme that stayed on my clothes one month!!!!!)and it gives you a macho feeling that roars in the narrow spaces!Anise, apple, violets, some woods and lot of musks and ambregris!Damn, what a choker! And i love it so much.

Just re purchased a bottle. Chamomille and Honey is spot on.
    Performance is DECENT.
    Update :
    Fast Forward two weeks.
I think I am in LOVE with this fragrance. It smells so different than it did 4 years ago.
Performance is very good on clothing. I sprayed some on my chest for a bike ride and it was still on my shirt the next day, after heavy sweating.
On skin I’d say it has projection for 2/3 hrs teetering off to a skin scent at hour 3.
This smells old school and mature.
    I go from a NAY to a YEAH !

Someone said in a review that OMSG makes people react in an agressive way.
5 minutes after receiving the bottle I sprayed it on since I was about to leave the house but I had to stop somewhere and talk to a farmer I havent met before to give him a message. After we exchanged 3 phrases each he suddenly shouted ‘Wait! What the fack are you wearing mate? That is some really potent stuff!’ It killed me his reaction.
I dont understand why people here seem not to like it, I am far from being a conneiseur, actually I am unable to detect notes in general , to me this smells like strong chamomille tea with a lot of dark honey in it. I love the opening, the fact that there are so many notes that pop out and its not a linear perfume. The projection is amazing, sillage is also good, and it lasted on me around 7 hours. It’s not a boring powerhouse from the 80’s. Nice strong but sweet in the same time. However I dont think it suits everybody, I wouldnt see it on a skinny young fella with no facial hair.

A very unique and very, very classy scent.
I like the spice at the initial spray, but more so the dry down of musky amber.
If gold itself had a scent, I reckon this would be it !
I’m surprised some don’t appreciate the quality of this one, it is crystal clear to me, but agree we all have different tastes.
This is definitely a man’s scent, ie not for those who just like a hint or soft & subtle tones (not that there is anything wrong with that) !
IMO OMS Gold is a goer for all seasons, BUT go easy on the sprayer in summer !

Wow what a powerhouse this is! Classic beast mode! I’m on my second wearing and this juice is very nice. Just 1 or 2 sprays to chest and still getting nice sillage after 4 hours. My bottle will probably last me the rest of my life because I have about 100 other colognes I give equal wearing, and also because OMSG is so powerful you don’t need anymore than 2 applications daily (or less) to get all day enjoyment. The scent itself does not resemble 1 million to my nose, maybe very very slightly, but very different. OMSG does have similarities to Black Soul by Ted Lapidus which I didn’t like in my 2 wearings. OMSG is smoother and more is interesting, and lasts longer on my skin. Nothing like One Man Show (original) which I like better because of it’s strong pine which is my favorite note in fall/winter. All in all, like all Bogart colognes, OMSG is a real
    bargain.
Update: Unfortunately my wife admitted recently she hates this fragrance. My female co-workers don’t like it either. My sisters said it smells too musky, like cats pissed on the carpet. So apparently gents, the ladies do not like this one.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

OK After some wearings these are my thoughts.
What I get in the opening is red apple with anise. It is a pretty sweet and fresh opening with hints of spices that predispose us for what will come next.
Then it is a full domination of Cinnamon and Cloves. Maybe Clove is a bit more prominent. The Cinnamon/Clove phase will last for a long time.
Finally it dries down to a Musky base with a touch of everything that followed before this stage. A bit of Amber there as well.
As for the performance. It is not the beast that everyone is talking about but yes it performs well. It can last a day on skin but it won’t project more than 4 hours with 2 sprays on each side of the neck. I don’t think it is an aggresive smell, it is a great scent for its price with great quality.
I think the key for this fragrance to reach its full potential isn’t “Don’t spray a lot” but “Don’t spray more than once in the same spot”. I found that spraying more than once in the same spot makes the Clove the only detectable note and in addition to that it is very cloying and bitter.
If you are into ultra sweet, soft and modern fragrances I wouldn’t recommend you this. To everyone that are 25+ or don’t meet the prementioned conditions I totally recommend you this.

Like a very full and ripe fruit with long-lasting power.
Jasmine mixes with violet with a sharp twang of orange.
A fragrance to keep me company.
Comes in a cheesy, late 70s style bottle.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

    Best description of this cologne?
This is the frag Elvis Presley would have worn in the 70’s.
    Done.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

Not a fragrance with universal appeal, but I’m quite taken with it. It smells quite sweet and it is every bit as strong as has been stated before. Sillage is long enough for others to use this as the benchmark, it represents outstanding value for money but is not to be used in anger.
A good frag, and well worth the money if for nothing more than to have a break from the usual daily rotation!

  29. :

    3 out of 5

Some reviews were saying that this resembles One Million by Paco Rabanne. Really, are you serious?
This has 0 to do with One Million, no even -1.
OMS Gold is a well blended Amber-Musk combination that reminds me a lot of Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent.
Also of Grant For Men by Elizabeth Grant.
Both are very musky-mossy perfumes. Very masculine.
OMS Gold starts with a salty, animalic smell and needs a lot of time to settle down to the earthy base.
Gold doesn´t need many sprays as Kouros does.
Projection and staying power seems to be similar.
Due to the similarities this is the best alternative for YSL Kouros – only without civet.
    Conclusion:
    Projection ~room filling
    Staying Power ~feels like forever
    Suggested Age ~40+

OK, so I tried one man show and gold edition side by side. Definitely stronger opening than OMS, opening note has apple mixed with a strong jasmine kind smell, may be it’s that violet flower thing but definitely mixed with cinnamon and apple. It stays there for some 2 hours and then loads of lavender and that jasmine smell takes the stage. I get around 3 hours of good projection, better than OMS. Overall 6 to 7 hours of presence. It has the vibes of OMS but in a better and stronger ways. Definitely suitable for those in their 40s and above. Give a try and you won’t get disappointed, but be easy on sprayer as you could clog those around you. I give:
    3 stars for projection
    3.5 stars for longevity
    Overall 3.5 in my opinion

Bogart One Man Show Gold is one that is going to the off season shelf. It is a huge sausage gravy and biscuit breakfast.
If there is a first paragraph noteworthy thing to talk about with OMSG then it is the first line on the box. At the top of the box, in all caps it says and I quote, “HIGHLY CONCENTRATED”. And to be honest about the matter, you probably should not consider this as advertising, or even as something informative; Its a warning. OMSG is a budget scent and you can easily find it under $20 and its not hard to find it for under $15. And yet, you could easily put it in niche bottles such as Slumberhouse that sell for $160 for a one ounce bottle and OMSG would kick Slumberhouse butt. I used to buy little sample packs of Slumberhouse for about $15. When I got 7 of them, I grabbed some 5 ml decants and filled each one with a different Slumberhouse scent. For $100 I had 30 ml of slumberhouse juice and 5 ml each from every scent in their line. Which I thought was a lot better deal than spending $160 for a single 30 ml bottle. Slumberhouse doesn’t let you do that anymore but it was a good deal when you could find those packs for sale. And mind you, Slumberhouse makes huge bold powerhouse fragrances and 5 ml of a slumberhouse is a lot of juice. The point is that Bogart OMSG is in that category of concentration and probably stronger. I do not know of a single scent outside of the Bogart house, that is as concentrated and strong as OMSG.
As for scent, it is certainly above average and creeps into the good range. I find this competes with London for daily wear use and I far prefer Bogart OMSG. They both have strong amounts of cinnamon, lavender, woods, florals, and citrus but OMGS veers off into an Amber musk direction while London has tobacco and leather. For me, they sit side by side on the shelf for daily wear use. I wear London some. I like Bogart better.
When you talk about performance and projection, beast mode probably undersells the issue a bit here. OMSG is so strong that it almost knocks out my senses and I cannot smell it when I put it on. You can use 1/3rd of the amount of sprays of other fragrances and it still will last until you shower it off. It almost grows in performance and I feel that it smells bigger 2 hours after I put it on than when first applied. But I know that is because its so huge that the first application is an anosmiac punch in the nose. Cinnamon is just one of those notes that gives me different looks with different perspiration levels but it seems to dance around a bit better with OMSG than with a few others I could mention. Still cinnamon scents vary in performance and on colder days when I sweat less, OMSG is more polite and thats generally when I wear the thing.
As far as usage goes, I cannot even judge this. It comes in a big black bottle that you cannot see into and mind you this is a fragrance where a few sprays will do. I know that I used it a lot last year and a good amount this year and the bottle still seems full. I bought a backup bottle because I saw one for under $10 and the price to performance ratio for this fragrance is through the roof. And I purchased a used cologne lot on ebay that had a couple of discontinued frances that I wanted and came with a third bottle of OMSG as a bonus. So, Ive probbly spent $25 on this fragrance with a 2 decade supply of juice. I feel comfortable using it anytime or as much as I want to with little worry of running out before a we see 20 something on the years of a calender.
Oveall, I am going to grade this one out at 87. It gets perfect scores for value and perfect scores for performance and a solid good score for scent. I docked it a 1/3rd grade of points for an in the background generic synthetic note. Its hard to smell but its there if you try. And OMSG misses a rare grade of an A by narrow margin. I want to give this an excellent grade but sometimes the football hits the goalpost and does not go through and you miss those 3 points by a hair.
Jacques Bogart One Man Show Gold has some amazing things going for it. Outside of other siblings from this amazing budget line, on a performance basis, it can stand toe to toe and throw punches with any fragrance of which I am familiar. You could put this in a Tom Ford Bottle send it out to certain you tube fragrance reviewers that I could mention and have them “test” it and they would report that this has top tier performance that you only get with niche quality fragrances like Tom Ford. And with performance like this it kind of drags the scent along for the ride. This has a rich amber oriental scent profile that is quite good. It has a hint of synthetic but most fragrances do these days and the ones that do not often do not perform like this one does.
I am 100% absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt convinced and certain of my opinion that you could put this in a prettier bottle, charge $100 an ounce and slap on a $350 price tag, and still find people that would rave about its strength, quality, wealth of scent, AND value. This easily has powerhouse performance and depth of scent that niche buyers who would never dream of looking at a budget scent, have never experienced. This guy is a Rocky punching slabs of meet ready to fight Apollo Creeds with their top tier training facilities. I doubt that there is a single line or house of fragrances that so often outperform their price tags as do Bogart Fragrances. I can talk budget fragrances with anybody but when you talk about ones that smell “mostly” natural and give you 12 hours of heavy performance the list gets smaller. Bogart is doing things you do not see with fragrances, and Im talking fragrances at any price level. And they are doing it while living in a budget category.
The only question really is how much you like the smell. There are plenty of others that like this Bogart better than that one or this fragrance better than another, and some might like Bogart Pour Homme and others One Man Show Ruby Edition. There are fragrances that I think smell a little bit more natural than does OMSG There are very few that both smell this good and perform this well and give you a depth of scent that lighter fragrances cannot measure up to when you compare them against it. And when you factor in price, the Bogarts start to look amazing. OMSG is not just another budget scent. It, along with its siblings is an absolute best of category fragrance contender when it comes to richness and performance. If you honestly like this scent as do I then it is a solid purchase to consider.
Im not a big fan of biscuits and gravy. My Grandfather used to say that it was the kind of breakfast that a man would eat and that would stick to your ribs and let you do a days work. He was right and biscuits and gravy are good and I like them. There are other breakfasts that I like more. But sometimes you want a breakfast that sticks with you. And biscuits are filling.

It is indeed very strong and for the Haters i would say that they actually might be lucky as their skins are good carriers of this kind of scent. but it is a positive aspect, as if used properly one bottle of OMS Gold is going to last for ages. the simple and best advice with this one is just really being careful not to overdo it. it is my second review attempt and after some time without using it i carefully sprayed one spray on each of my arms and done some serious spreading and rubbing to not allow the spraying spots remain concentrated in one location. yes it will have less projection in this way but since it so concentrated it will going to last some 12 hours. however, my first impressions were also interesting, in the spirit of: If You Ever Wondered in Your Wildest Fantasies how would You smell after a Sweaty 12 Hour Shift in a Gasoline Station, But the grease and smoke had Prevented you from fulfilling your fantasy. One Man Show Gold is Definitely the Scent for You! and it’s not in a bad sense. Multo Machoismo!

A big regret for blind buy this, the moment i try the first sniff it on my skin,i would say OMG!!This is the worst juice in my collection so far.First it smell like Talcum powder in the barbershop and after the dry down, the floral take a backseat of it..after 1 hour ,it smell totally as the indian temple with lots of certain flowery scent which i hate.Maybe this would be a great juice for someone but totally not for me.It do had a JOOP HOMME vibe on it..The longevity of this is moderate as well the projection side. Please do get a test of this and never blind buy it specially for asian chinese dude who doesn’t want to be called as indian and bangladesh..just kidding

So I received my OMS Gold Edition yesterday and on first application it almost immediately reminded me of the opening in CK One Shock, then it quick changed and now it reminded me of For Him by NR… after an hour or so it evolves into this mature musky aura with hints of contemporary notes. The seems to be a note that messes it up for me in the opening, this note gives off a dated aura and I got it in Sculpture too. After some research I came to the conclusion it could be orange blossom, it seems to be the common denominator… its either that or maybe it could be geranium but its definitely one of the floral notes.
All in all OMS Gold Edition is a great fragrance, super strong just the way I like my fragrances. I tried laying it with Eau Des Baux and boy oh boy did I get such a refined composition of bold notes.
    7/10
UPDATE: I’ve really tried to like this fragrance but I’m really struggling but will still keep it to be revisited in future.

For months, I tried to smell it in different moods, seasons, places. I can’t stand it. not only cuz it is too strong, its scent even if it dried gets me a headache. I didn’t think that I would ever hate a fragrance as I thought all fragrances are good in a way or another, but this one, I don’t consider it as a fragrance.

This smelled harsh upon first application. I’m glad it dried down nicer. The florals have taken a back seat, they are still there but much more distant. The amber is very strong on this. I am starting to like it more as it matures on my skin. I wouldn’t wear this out for the first 45 minutes. Now I’m enjoying it. At first I thought this smelled like someone pee’d their pants or urine/hospital smell.
**UPDATE: I was riding in the car with my wife and she asked “what is that smell?”. When I held my wrist up for her inspection she smelled it (OMS Gold) and then did the universal signal of disgust by dry-heaving. This has a 180 degree effect on my love life this evening and I won’t be celebrating this scent at this point. Trash can beckons.
**2ndUPDATE: In spite of this smiting my love life I have actually come to like JBOMSG. If you can imagine. This scent is very polarizing. Not many people who fall in between. I wear it in the evening when my wife already has a headache and no further damage is possible.

Everytime I wear or try a fragrance from this brand, the impression I have is that the fragrances are made by witches or sorcerers, on ancient cauldrons, in the same style of the cartoons of yesteryear and that, when finalized, they result in a massive explosion. I haven’t known any creation of this House with weak power of projection or longevity. And in this case, specifically, the company was keen to put the inscription “highly concentrated” on the box.
This version of 2011 came as a special limited edition, 31 years after the launch of the original fragrance (in 1980). However, it is still in production, even after 4 years of its arrival to the market. I may be wrong, but its virile fragrance along with the prices charged by most of the stores, made the company change their minds in relation to the manufacture of a limited amount of bottles.
In the composition, top notes of apple, orange blossom, violet, Mandarin orange and a touch of anise. In the central part, notes of clove, cinnamon, geranium and lavender. Finally, at the bottom, notes of woods, labdanum, ambergris, musk and a touch of patchouli. In a way, I can identify the DNA of the original version in this creation, even after 3 decades. However, this one became more sophisticated, with fruity and spicy aspect, while the previous one was drier, with chypre-leathery facet, typical of that time.
I’ve read comments mentioning a lot of presence of apple and cinnamon. On my skin, the fragrance practically comes down to a mixture of the orange blossom with violets, in the output, evolving into a body of cloves (without the medicinal smell) with the soft powdery smell of the geranium, and a sweet and almost leathery base of labdanum, in conjunction with the wild side of musk.
To help, I will be very direct: who doesn’t like the smell of Kouros, Lapidus or the strong aroma of orange blossom of Fleur du Male, won’t enjoy this scent. Obviously, if you like one of these (or all), then you should put this golden version in your list of future tests.
In my opinion, the success of the evolution of this fragrance is related to the amount of sprays applied (as well as in fragrances of the same style). This means that more important than the weather or the occasion (in this case, cold weather and nighttime events), is the quantity to be applied. Particularly, I had a much better result when applied only 1 spray on each side of my neck. This allowed me to feel the scent exhaling for hours, evolving slowly, without assaulting the smell of others.
The projection and the lasting are absurd. You can wait at least 10 hours of duration on your skin. I don’t agree with opinions about the use only by men above 50 years of age. But neither would I indicate this cologne for a young man of 18 years, except for those who are into this kind of fragrance.
To finish, the original bottle was kept, receiving a black matte painting with golden applications. Once again, the company managed to create an Eau de Toilette with power of Pure Parfum.
