Description

In the spring of 2017, Hugo Boss launches Boss The Scent Intense, an amplified version of Boss The Scent from 2015. Boss The Scent Intense is announced as the new seductive Eau de Parfum for men, described as masculine, powerful and memorable. The new version contains a higher concentration of aromatic oils and increases the intensity of the main ingredients.

Boss The Scent Intense opens with fresh, energetic and spicy aromas of ginger and green cardamom. The heart includes Maninka fruit from South Africa, which reportedly has aphrodisiac powers, whose dose is increased in the new edition. A burnished leather accord in the base is mixed with vanilla for intensity and alleged magnetic power.

The faces of the campaign are Theo James and Anna Ewers. The bottle contains a darker, amber colored perfume liquid in a metallic “cage”. Boss The Scent Intense is available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. Boss The Scent Intense was created by Bruno Jovanovic and Pascal Gaurin.

“Thanks for the laugh guys.. Performance was so weak I was ashamed to give it away. This is worse than edc”
As you should know, the performance is different on every skin, i share my experience with this frag, if you don’t like it, it is not my problem.
Great scent, great performance, but it is my opinion, that’s why is Fragrantica, to share our experience and personal opinions about tested fragrances.

“it is very strong so I do not think it is an office fragrance”
    “Beast performance, close to eros”

It is very fresh and very spicy which gives it its masculinity, it does smell a lot like that maninka fruit and leather. it is very strong so I do not think it is an office fragrance. Im going to give this an 8/10.
Also it is way better than the original. It is more well balanced

I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. This fragrance tries to be fresh, spicey, sweet, and woody all at the same time. The notes seem to clash and have no clear direction. Projection in the first hour is pretty good with it not filling up a whole room but yet hanging around you with a nice bubble. 3 hours later it’s a skin scent and lasts six hours total on the skin. Definitely try before you buy.

Absolutely love this frag, beast performance.
I’ve used it about half an year, performance close to Eros by my opinion.
    Best for winter nights.

Let me be clear about a few things in regard to this cologne. First things first this smells nothing like Hugo Boss The Scent. I bought this intense version for $120 Canadian after tax and if I could have, I would have returned it immediately. The store didn’t have a sampler, but I bought this one thinking it was a more intense version of the original Hugo Boss “The scent”. I have never been so disappointed in my life. The scent is a unique cologne that has a pleasant and sweet smell. This cologne is a very woody smell that has a bitterness and no sweet smell in it. It’s clearly for an older crowd and even though I’m in my 40’s I still prefer a younger mans cologne. All I get is woody and cardamom, nothing else. Why on earth would they call this cologne an intense version with the same name is beyond me. In my experience the only reason people buy intense version of the their favourite cologne is because they want something a little more powerful and longer lasting. The longevity is about 4 hours and the silage isn’t an intense strength that you would expect with a bottle using the word intense in the name. Now I got to try and maybe sell to my mom for half the cost so that her husband can possibly enjoy. No more blind buys ever again.

I used to be a fan of boss fragrances, and I had high hopes that this would project… Omg what is this? Did I just buy water for 60 or 70$?
Edit: the scent in itself is great though…

Hugo Boss is known to put out a lot of fragrances, too many to keep up with. But every now and then they release one that stands out as a very good scent. This is one of them. Nice, rich, smooth, full of flavor and a slightly mature vibe, but not too mature, just enough to be taken serious. Sometimes they are hit or miss with their fragrances but this one is a hit in my opinion. I dig it, my wife loves it, she actually was the one who wanted me to buy it. Good stuff.

wait..that jeremy guy that was just begging for money 6 months ago now has a new ferrari!..lol..what a clown.
This fragrance is better then the original in longevity.

I tried this, liked it, checked out the reviews on here and Jeremy’s girls (who probably did drop their panties for him and his new Ferrari) …. and had second thoughts.
Glad I wasn’t swayed too much, this is a great fragrance, can’t help smelling myself through the day.
    Absolutely WOULD recommend!
    I have a problem – I buy too many fragrances … now up to 30 – yikes!

I do not understand what is going on here
I tried this frag which is simply perfect great unique scent
    Of course long lasting
In comparison to other many scents here with very poor performance which have great overhyped reviews
Please do not buy any frag depending on any youtube review esp
Jeremy frag which overhyped la nuit and made me bought it and it gives very bad performance lower than water and soap and to smell it you must stuck your nose into skin
Even mostly all the rewiers on youtube saying not only the same jeremy opnions but also saying his exact words
Today i was at big annual expo for perfumes held in my countery and nearly all brands was there
I went to hugo boss and he gave me 2 spary over my hand and i continued there for 3 hours smelling more than 20 other frags
At the end the only unique one there was boss scent intense
And i tried all la nuit ysl and simply the 4 flankers with the original was like water
Many thanks for hugo boss on this master unique frag
    EDIT:
After using it for one week now it is very similar to D&G The One Edp nearly the same smell with much better performance and longivity
So i think it is better choice and surrogate for anyone loving the one and disappointed because of its bad performance

Hello to you all! I ve been reading reviews from fragrantica for some time and learned a lot so thank you all for reviews.
I am wearing boss scent intense for a couple of months now and this is my humble opinion.
When I put it on my skin(3 sprays) it smells for good 7 hours from which 5 as a scent that people around me notice strong and 2 as a skin scent but strong one.
I got compliments from women for it like strong and sexy scent.
Maninka note is prevailing in it with ginger for long time and in drydown its a pleasant leather woody scent.
Its not the best scent out there but its a decent one. I tried boss the scent and its pretty the same but softer then intense.
Its more night time fragrance but it can pass as a work and everyday scent if not applied to much.
    Scent 8/10
    Longevity 9/10
    Sillage 8/10
    Versatility 7/10
    Overall 8

【Stop the Hate Train, this is a Amazing Sweet Masculine cologne】
SAD seeing so many people trashing the new SCENT INTENSE without smelling it. The New INTENSE is much improve over the original the SCENT but didn’t get any attention since Hater just jump on a Hate Train without smelling it. This is a very different fragrances.
    【La Nuit de L’Homme + CH MAN Prive + EROS = New INTENSE】
    You take the
    • Spicy CARDAMON from (YSL La Nuit de L’homme)
+ Soothing VANILLA from (Versace Eros)
+ punch up LEATHER from (CH Man Prive)
= the New Boss Scent INTENSE
10/10 on the SCENT – best of everything in one bottle
7/10 on Longevity – last about 5~6 hrs as skin scent
5/10 on Projection- it sits closed, best for office or as date scent
    7/10 on Value
I’m on my 4th sample bottles from Macy (shy, I’ll buy it when price comes down). I ♥ the way it smell, and I ♥ the way it dry down with interesting transition. What I’m trying to say is that don’t criticize this frag without testing it. It is so much improved from the boring original. Give it a shot!

This is sweeter than 1 million. Damn, it smells like something victoria secret would release for men

I don’t understand why this one gets all the hate. It’s true, it’s not a great performer, but it’s not terrible either. I really love the scent on its own. It is unique, pleasant and it’s a great work fragrance for me.

  17. :

So very disappointed in this. I payed, unfortunately, good money thinking that this Eau de Parfum would last all day as they are designed to do. Its smells nice but lasts like a 2 dollar shop import. Never again Hugo Boss.

  18. :

When they say this stuff is intense it really is intense ,like it’s wayyy to aggressive and just unpleasant. Idk any female that would want a man to smell so gingery and peppery like damn hugo u really fu**** this one up lol
    Overall- 4/10

  19. :

Nice scent but nothing too exciting unfortunately. It’s defiantly a crowd pleasing fragrance, safe and clean.
If I get it as a gift I’ll wear it, since is pleasent, versatile and performs well.

  20. :

After some interesting opening, it becomes just ordinary mellow scent, no caracter, no excitement, like many other designer scents. Just waste of money. From all of Hugo Boss perfumes, I find only BOTTLED OUD to be fantastic, something to be essential for winter warm evenings, something that put you smile on you face every time you spray it.

I do and don’t like this cologne I will give you three situations where I have smelled this.
    1. I wore this cologne when it was about 80 to mid 80’s outside, I only did about 3 sprays, and I remember smelling myself at work and i could not stand it.
Second time, my friend had sprayed this cologne on himself and had the bottle in his car, we we’re driving and i thought it was a pleasant smell very different.
Third time I was browsing the fragrance department at Macy’s and the women working recommended this cologne to me, as she handed me the testing paper, I got a whiff and thought it smelled incredibly good, i told her i already had a bottle, note i was also sick at the time maybe that affected the way i smelt it.
I will have to test this out now that the temp is dropping where i live, maybe it will smell better in fall.

This is awful! The original The Scent is okay. Light, fruity and pleasant. nothing special but it is nice. Women told me it is okay but rather meh and it doesn’t last.
I thought, okay Intense will fix that add something and be better. Indeed they added something but it’s not the same frag at all. Totally different, traces of the original with a headache inducing smell. I don’t know what they intensifies or added but this is nothing like the original. And it doesn’t last. A huuuuge let down. If you do like the frag, get the original the scent. This… avoid. Or get the intense version of Boss Bottled. You know when you take a first smell and say… NOOOOO. Damn, hell nooo!!! This is it.

  23. :

    5 out of 5

The opening is a mess but once you pass initial 5-10 min the drydown is very unique and original.
In a blind test you will never tell this is Hugo Boss (Coty).
This is quite deep, rich frutty-leathery-dusty-sweet fragrance with decent but still average performance 4-6hours with 1h projection. If you are lucky and conditions are fine you will be able to achieve 8h (workday) in the office within 5-8 sprays.
Not worth the current price thou but if this drops below 50 euros this could be quite affordable.
Its hard to smell something similar in the mainstream nowadays. Reminds me a bit of Red Polo.
    Overall I dig it !

  24. :

    4 out of 5

I don’t like leaving negative reviews but this was quite disappointing and slightly disgusting. Smells nothing like the original which isn’t anything special to begin with but at least a safe fragrance, this one I’m sure will either be loved or hated.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

Im normally not negative with fragrances. I really enjoyed the original, smelled amazing but the performance was very limited. When I saw that there was an intense version coming out, I was stoked. Boss Bottled intense is a powerful version of the original, so this would be the same as the original the Scent. I was wrong. I almost blind bought this one from a friend on the internet. So glad I didn’t.
I enjoyed the first seconds on spraying, I was like: ‘Yes! Here we go, that beautiful the Scent DNA.’ A minute later this stuff smells like asparagus up close. The whiffs are more bearable, but still strange.
Later it because straight up ashy leather, reminiscent of Gucci Guilty absolute. Doesn’t smell anything like the original.
Disappointed in this one. Seems like they rushed this. Probably won’t sell. Cant see anyone wanting to smell like leathery asparagus.

  26. :

    5 out of 5

    This stuff is straight-up trash.
I blind bought this fragrance, as I’m a big fan of Boss Bottled – and I wanted something new to wear to work for spring.
Boy, did I miss the mark with this purchase.
This stuff smells like I’ve squashed 50 or so ants, and then merged them with the remnants of a spritz of A*Men by Thierry Mugler.
I hate to say it, as I like the brand, but Hugo is waaaaay off the mark with this stuff. I honestly can’t fathom anyone smelling this stuff at the time of creation, and believing that they could sell this. It’s that bad. Offensive, synthetic, rubbery-smelling with a slight hint of vanilla.
    Scent: 1/10
    Sillage: 7/10
    Longevity: 5/10

  27. :

    3 out of 5

Well this one is a straight-up improvement on the original as I can smell it! The original has for me next to no projection; to have described it as a ‘skin-scent’ would have been a gross exaggeration it was so undetectable on my skin (strange I know).
The first notes to hit you are leathers, but alas the harsher types as contrasted with Dior Homme Parfum where the leathers are warm and cosy. This feels harsh and metallic to my nose, but that said, if you enjoy the original, you may enjoy this stronger offering.

  28. :

    5 out of 5

Opens with the spicy, leather notes and I get the cardamon ok. The spices fade away over 1-2 hours.
Leaves a very balanced spicy stronger deeper version of The Scent with the sweet base evident throughout but not overpowering.
Nice scent IMO as more complex, long-lasting and interesting than the original and I was looking for something different and this fitted the bill (for me anyway).

  29. :

    4 out of 5

I don’t get how 80% of these reviews are dislikes. All the new releases from designer houses are spammed dislikes recently, and I don’t understand how fragrantica is allowing that before a fragrance is even out.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

I came back to this. Purchased and reviewed for the second time. The longevity is absolutely PERFECT. It lasts powerfully for about 5 hours, and calms down around 6 or 7, and has an amazing leather vanilla smell. It opens like a calmer gucci absolute, a very tolerable version. And slowly blends more toward D&G the one, but in its owm unique way. I take back the statement that i wouldnt call this a good frag. Its great.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

Like the other reviews !dont try on blotter as smells too pungent and offensive ,smells amazing on the skin !
At fragrance training we learnt about maninka fruit not being used in other perfumes and very new to being extracted as a scent!gives a richer and nuttier heart to the fragrance

  32. :

I have been wearing this one a couple
days now and this is actually a decent
    secent by boss,
This is everything i wanted the original to
be stronger better longer lasting and overall
of a better quality than its predecessor,
i actually enjoy this one a lot more,

  33. :

    3 out of 5

…while the original Scent was still too weak, now this one is perfect on me. It is still very expensive to buy, but i really had to get this, after i tried in the store. This Scent makes me feel comfortable, thats why i can recommend it. Forget about the bad ratings here, just go and try it yourself

  34. :

    5 out of 5

Was very skeptical but I just tested almost every frag at my local Macy’s and this one blew some of the more famous houses out of the water. Great leather and spice. This and GGA best releases of the year

  35. :

    4 out of 5

This is pleasantly excellent. Performance on this is very good.
I would say this is nearly niche quality with the darkness of the frag.
I didn’t love the original, but this one is real nice and the Maninka fruit is very good.
Finally – Hugo Boss has a nice release

  36. :

    4 out of 5

The scent lasts very long, and projects nicely. It has a odd leather smell to it, almost like D&G the one and gucci absolute mixed. Its very different, but i wouldnt say its good, do NOT blind buy. someone will really love this scent

  37. :

    3 out of 5

I thought I liked this one while at the store. But I brought home a couple of samples and decided I really dont at all. Has a very old smell not like mature or refined just old. very sweet and kind of an odd dill scent in the background. Maybe the 65+ crowd would like it.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

    ★★★★ (4 / 5 stars)
The original “The Scent” was distinctively different from Hugo Bottled releases with a spicier Maninka fruit edge – more seductive perhaps and less emphasis on cinnamon and vanilla, more leather.
    Happy sampling and testing!

  39. :

What a joke these reviews are. The majority of these reviews probably haven’t even tried it. I love this scent, wore it 4 days ago and can still smell it on my shirt in the hamper.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

The Perfume Pyramid is pretty spot on (in a synthetic way): The Top Notes make it metallic, Middle Notes make it aromatic (not sure what pomegranate has to do with anything though), Base Notes make it sweet and rubbery; basically it’s a typical old-school aquatic fougere with a slight touch of darkness, which is a somewhat boozy leather.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

Mass dislikes, longevity/sillage ratings, voting for random fragrances as comparisons…Fragrantica really needs to get this bot situation under control…

  42. :

    3 out of 5

Hugo Boss: “Hey! Let’s release an Intense version of the terrible Boss The Scent that no one asked for!” This is overpriced BS. It’s just as terrible as the cheap-looking bottle. If you have no taste in style and want your fragrances to reflect that, then this is for you! Lol. The price is ridiculous too. Save your money, seriously. Don’t be an idiot and buy this. Boss is going to continue to release this crap if people are still buying it.
2/10. Weak like the original, thank God, but unfortunately they have amplified the synthetic notes. Yuck. I’ve smelled Axe body sprays that are better than this.
Dear Hugo Boss. Please step up your fragrance game. To put it nicely: this is absolute shit.

  43. :

Anyone know the date this is going to be released, or to be precise, the UK release date? thanks

  44. :

    4 out of 5

Guys if you haven’t tried the intense version than why do you rate or review it.Looking foward to try this one and I hope that it won’t disappoint me.

  45. :

    5 out of 5

Typical, moronic people already started rating/voting just from clouds.
If you do not like it, which is not really possible without trying, there is no need to spread this imaginary hate on things in life with false/incorrect ratings on fragrances performance, or something like “I do not like this bottle, or this specific note lets rate the longevity and sillage as low as possible, that is just absurd.
Other thing, fragrantica needs an anti-bot system.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

Loved the original “The Scent” even when it had so much hate, for me it was unique enough scent with above average performance.
This probably will be more smooth and rich with added Cardamom and Vanilla, hopefully will have an amazing performance just like Bottled Intense Parfum.
