I’ve been looking for the perfect osmanthus fragrance for awhile now so this was high on my test list. Unfortunately I think something went wrong on my skin or in my nose because this is very screechy on me. I can smell that there is real osmanthus oil in here but there’s something else that’s pushing the citrus-y aspect of osmanthus so the overall effect is of a very high pitched osmanthus note, if that makes sense.
There’s also something that my nose reads as coconut which kind of mellows it out a bit but overall it’s like a woman with one of those voices that are so girly and falsely sweet that it’s off putting.

The waft of osmanthus scent is especially enjoyable and realistic when wearing it far from the face. I love Kingston Osmanthus by Eric Buterbaugh Florals much more as it is very natural smelling though so much more expensive.

Finally received the much anticipated sample. Thank you Mr Jeffrey Dame. For people who are unfamiliar, they have a postcard sampler program. If you send them a postcard with return address, they’ll send you a sample of a scent you want to try and some extra surprises. It’s a nice personal touch in the cyber age.
I put it on my arm. I get a soft whiff of osmanthus if i’m far away from it. If i put my nose in it, it’s a strong synthetic apricot. It’s like eating oikos triple zero peach yogurt: stevia and fruit. The apricot is sharp and slightly powdery. The scent is linear, instead of developing, it softens over time. The synthetic edge melts away. I feel it’s more like a scent found in personal care products than a perfume. I don’t visualize a real person wearing this, possibly due to the lack of base notes to ground it to the skin. This could be what a cyborg smells like. Perfect for those days when you feel quite unreal and need a jolt out of a stale mood.

Gorgeous nectarine like aroma..osmanthus at its best. Its gorgeous, intoxicating. Its fruity, exotic and great for layering. Ill have to get the oil for summer. This review is from a free sample included with a gardenia purchase. Dame has great small bottles too for less than a triple mocha latte. Seriously whats everyone waiting for? Experience these gems for spring!

There was an Osmanthus tree in the yard of our home in Kanagawa, where I spent the elementary school years in Japan. Every spring, a voile of fragrant creamsicle-colored flowers rained down on us. So uplifting.. you’d feel like you’re slowly floating to heaven. That’s where Soliflore Osmanthus takes me.
On my skin, the spray-version also has a freshly cut tree-ripened Nectarine in the middle of summer. An absolute DELIGHT.

This smells wonderful! I had no idea what osmanthus smelled like until trying this, although the person who described it as like the skin of a peach was dead on. Sillage is moderate and it’s very long lasting. Will have to use this to bump up the osmanthus in other fragrances that contain it, and/or layer with other soliflores. Full bottle worthy!

Oh! I should probably add that I live on the outskirts of a small city not far from New Orleans. If you “know what it means, To miss New Orleans” you might want to pick up a bottle of this – even if just for nostalgia.

HAHAHAHA! Oh this makes me so happy!!! I had no idea what “osmanthus” was until I sampled this…
Mr. Dame gave me a tiny vial of “home”… This scent is the “base note” of a walk through my neighborhood!
It’s so natural, realistic and luscious; one whiff of this and I could almost feel the heat and humidity of outside, even in my chilly air conditioned home.
I have the Dame website open in another tab – I’m ordering a full bottle of this and also of orange blossom. If orange blossom is even half as realistic as this and Chocolate Man, it’s going to be a heavenly marriage of scent (citrus trees and gardenia are two more of the many fragrances I encounter while walking down my street). Yeah, I know… I’m a lucky duck 😀
Come to think of it… I suspect that this might even pair well with Chocolate Man if I can get the proportions right.
Anyhow… review wise, this fragrance is a winner.
I actually think with it’s warm, almost honey-like creaminess, it would even appeal to gourmand lovers.
I also think it is pretty office-friendly – especially if you don’t bathe in it.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have ordering to do. I’m going on vacation soon and I want to take a bottle of “home” with me.
    Be well and happy sniffing!

Just received a sample and an order is coming.
    Love LOVE the scent.
Now the challenge… what other scents from this line could you layer the Osmanthus?
Or just leave it alone and smell the joy.

This is a gorgeous fragrance… so alive with life and juicy greenness… buoyant and tonic, the ULTIMATE summer fragrance for a woman, bar-none.

Oh. My. Gosh. So far this is the most magical osmanthus fragrance I’ve tried, and it’s the one that cost the least! Jeffrey Dame is so generous, and sent a ton of samples (and a rather large bonus EDT spray sample of the Osmanthus Soliflore oil I bought). I’ve bought a few things from this house and have really liked everything I’ve tried, but man these Soliflores are just really fabulous. It smells like the most realistic Olive Tree blossoms, which smell like warm apricots and peach jam simmering on the stove. You can almost feel the leathery texture of the blossoms when you sniff it. It projects beautifully, my children were in the other room and wandered in to find me, and insisted on wearing it as well. My daughter thinks it smells like the sweet fresh peach tea I make in the summer when we get seasonal peaches in to put up for the winter. In short, this fragrance is very nostalgic for me, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. What a house. This will always be in my collection.

thank you jana;hullinghorst for mentioning out sweet olive trees. I live in New Orleans and wait for the weather changes just for the sweet olives. I have 8 osmanthus sweet olive whatever you want to call them bushes and have yet to find a scent that captures their magic and they are magic. down here when they bloom they are everywhere and very intoxicating. I am going to order this today and cross my fingers.
update: ordered and this is the closest thing so far to the sweet olive that I have found so far. I ordered the oil and they sent a good size sample of the spray and I layered them on. Pretty good. And like the sweet olive which smell better when you catch it in the breeze than when you stick your nose in it , Dame Osmanthus is the same. If you are looking for realistic try this.

(This review is for the EDT version of the fragrance.) I never have had the opportunity to smell real Osmanthus flowers, but if they are more beautiful than this perfume, they must be truly intoxicating. This Osmanthus soliflore is pure bliss, a bright, creamy, slightly tart apricot with the slightest whispers of suede. Sunshine in a bottle, this is the fragrance of happiness.
Longevity is shockingly good for an EDT – about 12 hours. I am looking forward to trying the oil version, and also layering it with the other Dame soliflores. I would purchase this if it were 3x the price, but at $65/100 ml, this is an outstanding value for a truly gorgeous fragrance.

I’m a Louisiana native, where the sweet olive trees bloom in the fall and winter months. I have so many fond memories of this flower, softly scenting the humid air. Making you swoon. Sitting on my mom’s front porch, enjoying the quiet and the sweet olive bushes that she planted in the yard many years ago. This is the scent of my childhood, the scent that makes me nostalgic and home sick.
I am always on the hunt for an osmanthus perfume that can ignite my heart and send me home through my sense of smell and Dame’s osmanthus is pretty close. A bit sweeter and less airy than the actual Sweet Olive flower, but a good quality, budget friendly offering none the less. This is dense, intoxicating, and long lasting. Develops fully in warm weather and I can smell it on my clothing days after application. Are there soliflores closer to the real thing? Sure. Will you find a more cost friendly version of this flower? Never.

I saw there was recently an EDT released; I have the perfume oil rollerball, a blind buy. My best blind buy ever.
HOLY. GRAIL. Osmanthus. Disclaimer time — I have never smelled a real osmanthus blossom, but I have been chasing after the dream in perfume version for some time. I have no idea how close this approximates an actual osmanthus blossom, but to me, this is absolute perfection in terms of that floral apricot thing that osmanthus generally seems to have. Despite being a solifore, this is a pleasure to wear throughout the day due to a slight green/earthy twiggy-ness underneath that apricot. Lasting power is admittedly not great on me (scent eating skin) but I really don’t give a hoot; I’ll gladly keep this in my bag and reapply generously.
LOVE. And the price? LOVE MORE. Dame Perfumery is truly a gem, I seriously put this on and swoon. Oh Jeffrey, you are a marvel.
