An awesome fragrance, however, pretty sure it’s been reformulated at some point between my old bottle and the more recent one. From the old one I got an intense pepper/lavender scent with a solid amber/vanilla base. Sweet and spicy with a light touch of wood, almost like a light licorice smell. Soooo good. The newer bottle smells heavier on the lavender with a lot less pepper, which gives it a more soapy tone. Still not bad, but not nearly as awesome the older bottle. So sad it’s discontinued because it blows a lot of pradas newer stuff out of the water, not to mention other brands…

I used to not really care fir this fragrance, I didn’t not like it, I didn’t hate it either. It simple just was another bottle in my collection. I always wore this in summer and it was simple just ok. But I tried it today in the fall and love it. So great, it is floral and masculine., I didn’t smell any vanilla though. It’s goid stuff. You can wear it all year round but, I feel this performs better in cold weather situations

For me this is interesting and unique
It smells like what a lolitita limpicka pour extreme or intense version would have been. I get a licorice or anise vibe with a tom ford esq feel. It smells modern, sophisticated and sexy.
For me personally this is too metro, tom ford skirts the line at times, but oud mineral and tobacco oud are beautiful. This one is too metro for me, but I am the kind of guy who can barely handle ch men privé or la nuit de lomme, so that this with a grain of salt.
projection is fair to weak sadly, with fair sillage and 5 or so hours longevity.
I personally would pay for a Tom ford fragrance or go for my beloved Encre noir extreme for a sultry dark, yet with a overall aromatic feeling fragrance.
Not Bad, but not special for me

What a magnificent and exquisitely blended perfume!
The subtle transition from the top to base notes is so beautiful that you just want to experience it over and over again.
Perfect choice for formal occasions or romantic evenings. If you’re looking for a scent for clubbing or a casual night out, this is NOT the one.
With these rumors of discontinuation floating around, I might just need to get a back up bottle or three.

I know there’s been a lot of talk about this being discontinued and it’s becoming more difficult to find, however, 50 mL bottles are still available on Sephora’s website

*sorry about the long post* This is just one of my favorite fragrances. I bought it on my birthday this year, and not too long after, I heard it was being discontinued.
So I wanted to get a second bottle, I don’t normally grab two bottles of anything, but this is one of my all time favorites.
If it’s still available in your area,I wouldn’t blind buy, because it is a very strong smelling fragrance. But after one day of testing the wear, you’ll know whether or not you want to purchase this, or pass on it.
It’s not something you’ll need to wear for a while to know. It’s very strong smelling on the opening. The longevity is different with everyone however. Most reviews say around 6-8hrs. This one I get 12-14hrs! Very rare for me to get that kind of longevity. No other fragrance I own gives me those kinds of numbers.
Quick story about a deal I got on this fragrance.
I preordered Polo Red Rush, not because I wanted it, but because I got a great deal on it. Red Rush smells good. But I already own so many similar fragrances, so this wasn’t on my list to buy. But the lady I always buy from at Dillards, said it came with a back pack. I told her I didn’t care about that kind of stuff, I just wanted the juice. She asked what I was planning on buying next, I told her what my plan was. And she says I will give you a brand new 3.3oz YSL La Nuit De Lhomme tester if you preordered, instead of the backpack. I’m an idiot if I don’t preorder now.
So I preorder, go to pick it up. And another lady is working and says sir. Would you like to apply for a Dillards card? I said that’s ok, but thank you.
She then says are you sure? I am giving away free testers to anyone who applies for a card? I ask what she had. And she pulls up a new tester bottle of Prada Luna Rossa Extreme….if you’ve read all the way to this point. I walked out with $220 worth of Fragrances for $90…. such a wonderful day!

    @Viabsankhla
For the perfumitas (perfume lovers) mostly the best are not the crowd pleasers.
For the brands it are the crowd pleasers, get hyped up and make the most $$$$ for them.

Totally different from top to base. I find the topnotes a little harsh and not very pleasant. But the drydown is to die for, blended to perfection!! Thankfully a very long lasting scent, so i can enjoy the best part, the basenotes, for a really long time 🙂

Why do these brands keep discontinuing the best ones ?!!!
This is a masculine confident peppery lavender with a hint of spice and resin.
    Signature scent worthy
    Non offending
    Good performance
No complains except the 1st thing I said!!
    Office safe
    All weather

A confident and sexy fragrance that lasts and projects just right. One of my favorites in my humble collection. There is nothing bad I can say about this one. It’s a real winner in my book.

So I received a sample of this fragrance about a year ago, and when I sprayed it on my wrist, I wasn’t impressed whatsoever…just another peppery lavender subtle scent and that was about it.
Then a year later, I had a full wearing of the sample just for the heck of it…and I just could not stop smelling my wrist and wondering how on earth have I overlooked this one! It drove me crazy! Two weeks later I found it at a bargain price in my country and I just had to catch this one.
It baffles me how would a strange description like “clean pepper scent” just keeps popping into my head, granted, this is not a masterpiece or anything, but definitely a hidden gem amongst the Prada fragrance line.
A strong lavender opening with a peppery-juniper heart with a slight hint of amber, and a nice labdanum note that engulfs the whole scent, giving it quite the depth.
A chic casual (or smart casual) scent for the colder days and nights…can even work in a cool spring night, just like today.

I agree with you guys. This one should be kept and rest of Luna Rossa range discontinued. I always get compliments when I wear LR Extreme. Especialy in hot summer nights reveal that beautiful lavender spicy mix and it’s srong.

Sadly discontinued. Great fragrance that doesn’t feel like your typcal soapy prada and as such easy to understand why it got the can. but this is an amazing fragrance. Get your hands on it before they’re gone from all retailers. I noticed good resemblence to at the Barber’s from the folks at Martin Margiela. enjoy!

Get them while you can && thank me later bitchesssss. I haven’t got around to reviewing it just yet but I will update this comment once I do.

Can not find this anywhere in my country.
But just ordered the new one; Prada Luna Rossa Black EDP
Maybe in the same league, maybe darker..
    Edit 13 feb 2018:
I smelled Luna Rossa Black EDP yesterday, I think it is in the same league as Prada L’Homme Intense.

Prada brings it with this classy, sophisticated, clean fragrance.
I really love the scent of this cologne. The pepper, vanilla and lavender combo work wonders with the other fabulous notes that create this inviting and seductive fragrance.
The sillage and longevity are above average to me and I get compliments on it everywhere I go.
This was a blind buy and I think I did really well. You will too! 🙂

Picked this up at a duty free on a trip. I have been buying this for my husband since. I LOVE this scent. On him it smells like nothing else. He is very particular about everything and he loves it too. I bought every bottle I could afford now that it is discontinued. Just my luck, everything I love gets discontinued. I need to find a replacement for this!! I notice there are no fragrances listed that are similar. Any suggestions? Clean, spicy, masculine. sexy as hell.

What a shame that this has been discontinued. It is one of the best designer fragrances to hit the market in a very, very long time. If you can find it online, the prices are going through the roof, and this is only the beginning.
I have to say. I have over 50 niche fragrances and this designer “Prada Luna Rossa Extreme” comes into the top 5 (side by side) of my niche fragrance collection. It lasts & lasts and always garnishes compliments. I do have a backup bottle & am now searching to get some more. I never, ever want to run out of this juice.

Luna Rossa Extreme Starts off as a peppery JPG La Male. I dont think the black pepper was a good idea as the opening is a bit messy, harsh and sour.
However, give it 10 minutes to settle then this fragrance becomes a very smooth, beautiful and luxurious amber vanilla blend with Prada’s signature soapyness vibe.
It is much better and higher quality than JPG La Male with excellent longevity.
    I love it.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

In a word Prada Luna Rossa Extreme is; peppery. There are other notes, but they are framed by this robust peppery essence. That being said, Prada Luna Rossa is a real gem of a fragrance to sport during the fall and winter months. Luna Rossa is a sweet amber and spice scent that gets the job done with utmost quality.
The opening of Luna Rossa is all lavender, a sweet vanilla and PEPPER! This spicy yet harsh opening endures for a while. Then the bergamot and juniper berries peek through. This combo of juniper and bergamot, when paired with the lavender and the peppery essence comes off like licorice or anise (I dare say this veers into sarsaparilla territory!). This licorice/anise effect eventually mellows out with the arrival of the amber and labdanum. As Luna Rossa eventually settles we are treated to a sweet, spicy and ever so slightly soapy scent. The effect is satisfying but not too original. As this scent dries down we are left posing the question: “Where have I smelt this before?”. Even though there is a lack of originality, the quality remains as well as the projection and performance. This is a well crafted scent and yes it performs very well in a crisp, cool air.
Luna Rossa is a real fall, winter star, forget about wearing this in a warmer season or climate. Luna Rossa is perfect for work and even after work, especially after a gym session. This could be worn by guys in their mid to late twenties and up. Luna Rossa requires a minimum of sprays and performs near beastly in the cold. I recommend this for those who want a slightly spicier option in their collection. This is not the most original scent but it serves it’s purpose and displays it’s quality as part of cold weather fragrance rotation.

This didnt live up to the hype for me. The only detectable notes are the lavender/vanilla mix. By 4 hours, it’s a soft skin scent that someone might smell if they hug you, hardly “extreme” in my opinion. It might work for a short date night, or work environment where you can refresh mid day, but not much else.

  25. :

    3 out of 5

The interplay of freshness and warm spiciness on my skin is just amazing. It stays like that for a long time, and is followed by a gentle dry-down, with an more pronounced amber note.
I was hesitating between this and the original Luna Rossa for a long time, but the Extreme won. It is one of those rare cases when the flanker is better than the original.

Ughh..bought it blindly since I love Luna Rossa,Luna Rossa Carbon and every Prada men fragrance so far.
this smells nothing like Luna Rossa or any other Prada fragrance.
too harsh, too balsamic and I smell slot of ginger.
    very unpleasant.
I’m going to return my bottle.just can’t stand it.
no wonder Parada already discontinued this..
they should really stop calling a completely different fragrance “Extreme”..this has NOTHING to do with original Luna Rossa,or Carbon.
    big fail.

This is least like a LR fragrance and subsequently not a direct favorite.
It smells interesting, but how can this not have cinnamon as a note?! I think the opening is a cinnamon bomb. A little spice bomb yes but less smooth than that one.
I think this smells exactly like an asian massage oil commonly used where I live. Not getting the extravagant feel here.
    A no for me.

Before I decide to buy a fragrance which is widely available, I usually visit stores and try it several times. Then I bring blotter papers to my office and let my female colleagues put their noses on it. With the LRE it was the same ‘procedure’. I am not a great fan of that kind of ‘heavy’ fragrances but this one was different – it was a love from the first sniff..my colleagues found it great too, so later that day I became the owner of a bottle of LRE.
When I finally tried it on my skin (somehow I had forgotten to do it before), my first thought was: f*ck this cannot be the same one – it smelled really weird on me – it brought back memories of one of the worse odors of my childhood – a wood tar shampoo used in case of skin infections (!) This is the first time I notice such a huge difference between one scent on skin and on paper (!!)
The plot thickens: next day when I wore it at work, my colleagues (the same ones who had loved LRE on paper) started asking me about that ‘annoying and offensive cologne’ I was wearing (!!!)
All in all, I am not sure what to think about it..I still think it’s a great fragrance..unfortunately incompatible with my body chemistry (I keep on giving it a chance every now and then).
I would place LRE on the same shelf next to the Bvlgari men in black and the Nuit d’Issey – the same vibe to me (oddly enough, I detect this yucky wood tar shampoo trace in all free of them).
    Cheers!
P.S. Hats off for the performance – great sillage&longevity

This is liquid gold. It is one of my favourite fragrances. Not in your face but boy it oozes sophistication. I know it’s not listed in the note breakdown, but I get tobacco… pipe tobacco soaked in whiskey. Throw in amber and pepper amd this masterpiece is complete.
    A gentleman’s fragrance.

Prada’s lre is their version of bvlgari’s man in black

  32. :

Reminds me of a fresher version of L’Air du Desert Marocain by Andy Tauer. The amber shines through beautifully with pepper and lavender adding a fresh/spicy touch that most noses will appreciate. This blurs the lines between niche and designer in my opinion; 3 foot sillage and 12+ hours of longevity. One of my best buys of the year so far.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

Its ok. It just smells like a spicy almost cinnamon type soft vanilla/powdery fragrance.. on my skin it almost smells a little like there is a cumin note or something. Something about it feels bland to me. Maybe I will change my mind as I wear this decant, but eh.. Doesn’t really seem to do much for me right now. Not that impressed.

Perhaps I’m less critical towards contemporary scents geared towards men (after all, they are all turning unisex, while modern women’s scents are turning childish), but for me all three LRs I smelled so far are winners.
Extreme is very different than the original Luna Rossa or the Sport edition, I was surprised that a flanker can be this different, but perhaps they wanted a versatile collection which makes fans buy all versions as they cannot be replacements for each other. Well, Sport fresh and closer to the original, but Extreme is dark, spicy and deep. I get a very similar feeling that I get with Le Male: smooth, dark grey smoke. A confidence booster for both genders. It is hard for me to associate it with sailing, sea and summer, but I have yet to see what it is like in warm time.
None of these are too unique or groundbreaking, but very wearable and, for me, more than simply pleasant. The bottles of this line also express what you can expect when spraying.
LRE also reminds me to the relatively unknown and quite interesting Zirh Ikon, their openings seem similar. Even their bottles share some similarity. Later on Ikon turns into a disappointingly weak and short-lived incense base which I was looking forward to so much but it lasts around five minutes (and this is the older version, with the magnetic cap! I don’t want to know how the reformulation performs, however it does smell great anyway), close to skin, while Extreme chooses another direction. I like it more and more.

  38. :

I gotta say like all the flankers in the luna rossa line its better than the original. I’m in love with the original LR sport but this is so good too. Compliment getter all day. Definitely a winter fall scent, and Def powder (like most Pradas) but spicy unlike the other LRs. It’s so unique it’s got to be in everyones arsenal. With that said because it’s so unique it’s best suited for winter/fall, night time. Not really an office scent either, but I’ve worn it because it’s not over powering but you will get noticed. This smells not for everyone but man is it unique and I always get compliments

So damn dark, it creates an aura of lived-in things!
I once had Amber pour Homme, which has a special sweetish-clean-powdery appeal, long lasting and great sillage. And then, while ago I came across this one, I immediately liked it and decided to buy.
Despite it is supposed to be a flanker, though it is actually diverse from the original Luna Rossa. Some notes are alike, but the scent smell different and… It is moderate, not extreme at all!
I have the EDP, family is oriental-spicy, and at the very first spray I recognise a nice fresh peppery with a bit of clove, kind of liquorice, a flash of bergamot, and something similar to a spicy cake. it is creepy dark, but fascinating. I guess the contribute comes from the pepper and lavender mixed together in the top notes.
Well, it is incredible how it varies in the first hour on the skin. Thanks to amber & vanilla in a tobacco style, the mix makes it seductive. If the initial accord is warm, rich, sweet-dry, woody, and leathery, in the long term it changes to animalic and powdery, a good one not like baby powder, which creates an aura of lived-in things.
The EDP projection is above average, and it even has a good longevity, about 8-10 hours and more. I wore it last night and the day after a can smell it on the clothes.
In my opinion, it is elegant, manly, with a lot of masculinity for the entire last, and as I said with dark and fresh tinges. A fairly casual scent, better for evening and night out, during cold weather such as fall and winter.
P.S. I get lots of compliments when I have that on.

This fragnance is definitely sporty. Its fresh, its subtle, its versatile, its compliment getter. The black blue bold glass bottle is something that make sporty fragnance looks so different than the other, the scent itself resembles from dominantly black pepper added with some lavender, vanilla, and little bit amber. Great for all occassion with good performance.

I love the original. I like this one but I honestly miss the ambroxan. I feel it requires that to tie it to the original. Very peppery. I spray some pure ambroxan with this and it’s amazing.

A gorgeous and sophisticated fragrance. A blind buy. Worth it. It combines some strong scents with elegance, grand grace and a bit of a sweet tooth for dessert. Great for date night or a formal event or awards show, etc. In my top 20. 8.5 out of 10

  44. :

    3 out of 5

Sampling this one as I write this. What’s not to love? Black pepper, bergamot, lavender, vanilla are all in this absolutely! I do detect a black licorice hint in this. Ultimately, reminds me exactly of Spicebomb!! Mainly because of the black pepper but I also get a little of a fresh minty vibe (even though it is not listed in the ingredients) which makes this different from spicebomb. The lavender really comes through with this scent, with vanilla playing in the background. Ouuu and that amber! If you are a fan of spicebomb, anything woodsy, spicy, and masculine, consider getting yourself to smell it! You won’t be disappointed! And for anyone who is looking for an extreme version of the original, imo, I don’t think this anything like that. A whole different scent altogether!

  45. :

    5 out of 5

I’ve gotten some amazing compliments wearing this. There’s sort of a liquorish vibe (I think from the juniper) that makes it a bit too strong at first, but it settles into something amazing. Plus it maintains good projection for a good length of time, although I’ve read others complain about performance. But on me…
Longevity: I get 8 hours on skin, an eternity on clothes, and 3 hours of respectable projection.
Projection: An hour after applying, I got an orgasmic “OMG WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?!” Compliment from a girl who was quite far away from me… 2 arm lengths, perhaps. That said, I don’t feel like it’s beasty, and this might be one of those scents that comes and goes in that department.
Sillage: you’ll leave a trail for a few hours
This isn’t an easy scent to describe. “BLACK PEPPER” does not sufficiently describe the spice involved here. The best way I can say it is: sexy chai tea latte. Seriously, go to Starbucks and get a chai latte, take some whiffs, and then add a dose of sexiness (that amber, with that slight tinge of liquorish that I mentioned before). It’s a very nocturnal scent that can be pulled off in the daytime during the dark cold months. It sways masculine to my nose, but women should certainly check it out too. As a man, I’d have no complaints about my girl smelling like a sexy chai latte.
This was a great blind buy for me, but I’d definitely recommend sampling first. There’s many complaints about performance, and not everyone is going to like this spice blend. On the wrong skin this could turn into a B.O. type thing very easily.

  46. :

Love this one. It’s easily the best out of the Luna Rossa family. There is definitely some similarities to Amber Pour Homme Intense as well, most likely from the amber and vanilla notes, but it is still it’s own fragrance. It’s a bit spicy but overall pretty soft and it honestly smells a lot like root beer to me which is awesome because I love root beer. It’s definitely unique for a designer fragrance and is certainly at least worth a sample of.
It also smells almost nothing like the original Luna Rossa

I love this scent. In my opinion it is not a mainstream fragrance. However, it does remind me of TF’s Tobacco Vanille a lot, which is my favourite scent to wear. This one is much cheaper. Even though performance is not as good, for the proce it’s a great alternative!! Love it.

As dsyben stated Luna Rossa Extreme is a very unique Men’s
Fragrance in the same vein as Le Male and 360 White…
I Honestly believe 360 White is much closer to Luna Rossa
Extreme than it is to Le Male however what both of those
fragrances lack is a fresh spicy accord which Luna Rossa
    Extreme pulls off beautifully…
Luna Rossa Extreme is a Unique take on popularized
Lavender/Vanilla fragrances, it emits a nice soft Sillage,
has great longevity and is a great option to have in anyone’s
rotation for the Fall & Winter… If you are NOT the biggest fan of
Fragrances that sit a little closer to the skin you may want to try
and sample this one first before blind buying…

i just got this today in my hand, blind bought.. really strong scent of black pepper on top note, dry down of lavender (noticable).. this fragrance really reminds me of Salvatore Ferragamo F Black.. which i totally hated it and get an instant headache.. too harsh and sharp.. but LRE has a blend of vanilla and lavender notes too which is to me acceptable.. i don’t know, maybe?
update: after 2 days of wearing it.. it really have a bad performance.. it does last on my clothes for 2 days but projection is weak, like really weak and soft for it’s name Extreme and an EDP.. after 2 hours, poof and it’s gone! what the hell is this, Prada? honestly guys, don’t be fooled by the Extreme and EDP label. the weakest EDP i have found so far.
    longevity: 9/10
    projection: 3/10
    two thumbs down!

I feel strong similarities between this and amber intense, however I actually notice the amber more here, where with amber intense is more myrrh-centric. The lavender-bergamot-vanilla in both is very similar with a warm powdery vibe.

All i got was ginger and tea. Maybe like green tea.
Its okay but not groundbreaking. Good scent for work or formal events.

Floral and a little bit sweet, but as the lavender is the main note (combined with black pepper) the fragrance is very manly. No doubt. Luna Rossa Extreme is far way better than the original. Romantic, seductive and perfect for dates (specially dinners). Longevity and projecticion are both pretty good.Good job Prada.

Such a great Fall/Winter scent. I love it!
Very sophisticated and unique. It’s not an obvious fragrance so I don’t see it ever being that popular but it is amazing in my opinion. I got a deal on a second bottle so I decided to grab another as I see myself wearing this for a long time.
The performance is excellent. It lasts over 10 hours and projects like a beast. It fills a room for sure. I can smell it on a jacket I wore over a week ago. Do not over spray!

Here I go again making another bad purchase. There is nothing extreme about this it should be called eau di cologne. Stuff that evaporates within seconds has absolutely no power at all. I thought maybe prada could redeem itself with this bottle but no. It continues to be a worthless fragrance house

It’s amazing how different this flanker is from original cologne. Black pepper, lavender and sea salt in a perfect combo. Great spicy scent, heavy and long lasting.

    Clean & Sensual…
This is one which is an all round pleasant experience. I get pepper, lavender and vanilla, with a hint of florals in the background. It’s traditionally masculine but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be suitable for a woman as well.
It reminds me of other fragrances with a lavender and vanilla combination. The addition of pepper and spices also serves to make the fragrance a little different in it’s approach. I do like it, and would wear it from time to time. I have been impressed so far with the fragrances I have tried from Prada. This one is no exception.

Instantly reminded me of Tea for Two! They share a very similar blend of notes, even though it may not seem so from the simple note comparison. The notes that I am referring to smell kind of like “smoky spicy gingerbread with black tea”. To be quite honest, if you want to have an idea of what Luna Rossa Extreme smells like, look at the notes for Tea for Two as they will give you a better picture of what to expect. Tea for Two is more smoky, dense, thick and intense, while Prada is lighter and fresher (if you can call it fresh at all). To me they are both winter/fall scents, however Prada can also be used in other seasons, as long as you don’t overspray it. Silage is moderate and longevity is good (around 8 hours). It is quite linear on my skin and does not develop much. Last but not least, don’t be deceived, this has nothing to do with the original Luna Rossa.

After I used a 2nd bottle, I realized that LRE smells like the spicier, cooler and fresher version of Le male summer:D Le male summer 125ml about half price of Prada 100ml. The performance is almost the same…

Prada makes some great fragrances for a designer house that don’t usually feel “mass market” to me. This is one of their best.
The first blast is all lavender and peppercorns and a sort of green floral note I can’t place but it wuickly settles down to a scent I can only describe as Chai Milk Tea! It’s an amazing and herbal, spiced scent that has a quiet confidence. If it had a “color” I would call it pumpkin orange.
The drydown has some woody notes and an almost cinnamon sugar dusting quality to it and frankly to my nose this is a gourmand fragrance.
One of Prada’s best and Im already on bottle number two.
Scent 8/10: amazing unexpected scent and well blended, with there was a little more cinnamon and clove.
Longevity: 6/10 it falls short on lasting power and while that would normally be a coffin nail for me, I can forgive this one for it’s scent quality. You should get 5-6 hours total, maybe reapply every 4-5 if

Luna Rossa Extreme Prada
