Description

Calvin Klein offers new editions of the original fragrances Euphoria from 2005 and Euphoria Men from 2006 – Liquid Gold Euphoria and Liquid Gold Euphoria Men for the season of 2014. The fragrances are announced as luxurious, powerful and addictive; the scents of desire melting in richness, taking you into the world of luxury.

Liquid Gold Euphoria Men is a modern woody oriental, described as intense, magnetic and masculine. It contains notes of black pepper that gives freshness right from the start. Then there are intensive saffron in the heart and creamy sandalwood in the base.

Both fragrances are available as 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

The sandalwood in this is very recognizable. Wearing this inspires me to explore other sandalwood leading fragrances.

Smoky, woody, manly magnificence in a classy black and gold bottle.
This beauty is first and foremost a very woody sandalwood fragrance. As such, it strikes me a bit on the “mature” side, and as such it’s not going to be for everyone.
That being said, I love the warmth and smokiness the saffron brings to the game here. It takes Liquid Gold from the dry woodiness of a Bentley Absolute or GPH into something rounder and warmer, all without introducing more than just a little bit of sweetness. Pepper isn’t prominent in any way, but it compliments the effects of saffron in offsetting the powerful sandalwood base. I’m pretty sure the DW isn’t gonna love this, but I sure as hell do. 🙂
Looking at it another way, this to me is everything that Maison Margiela’s By the Fireplace should be. It has everything to do with the coziness of a roaring fireplace in a rustic winter lodge – without the sweetness of toasted marshmallow that comes with BTF.
Looking forward to rocking this stuff once the weather cools down. If you like this but wish for something just a tad sweeter, just layer it with CK Obsessed or Antonio Banderas Secret Temptation. Each would be both very complimentary and stand alone well on its own.

Even the reformulated Obsession beats this, and at half the price.

Keep it short. It is The One Dolce and Gabbana Intense version that all the fans were waiting for except that CK decided to make it real.

    Very good eau de parfum.
Minimal and heavy at the same time.
Sweet creamy sandalwood with madicinal spicy opening. Synthetic woodsiness (ambroxan?) that is yet crowd pleaser.
A very safe choice. Classy oriental vibe but yet playfull.
    Longevity is solid.

Horrible sillage. When I first put it on I was left wondering if I had a cold or something inhibiting my sense of smell. I bought mine “shipped and sold by Amazon” on cyber Monday for $40. As a blind buy, it’s probably one of the most disappointing I’ve ever made. The scent is pleasant, but it’s just impossible to smell it without putting my nose directly on my skin. If this had some projection, really anything more than the NOTHING it currently has, then this would be a great edp. But this continues the trend for me. I’ve never had good luck with CK branded scents.

I never thought I would own another CK fragrance again and here I am writing a review.
CK was popular among my peers and I growing up and after running threw all the originals and owning a few, I moved on.
That was until I stumbled across liquid gold and blind bought it based on reviews here that it was niche. @FreshTones said it: woody, spicy, and sweet which I find blissful! To top it off, it’s a powerhouse for longevity. Indoors, this will last easily 12 hours! I simply couldn’t ask for more.
Although I havent tried Euphoria Gold, this blows away the original and intense versions imo.
Perfect for winter and fall. Warm climate buyers should be careful since it may be over powering in hot climates.

Outlet stores have become a regular outing for me lately as I’ve been finding super buys. This is one of them and what a pleasant surprise. I’ve had a modicum of success with CK overall, so I can’t be too dramatic about it. Euphoria Gold, Reveal, Shock, Escape… Even Dark Obsession is pleasant enough. All pale in comparison to this baby right here.
The opening is a jolt to the senses. Woody, spicy, sweet. STRONG. Nothing smells synthetic at all, superb quality. Being a fairly simple scent, Liquid Gold delivers on it’s promises of a natural smelling mixture of it’s parts. It stays a strong woody and spicy for quite awhile into the dry down. There is where it hits it’s mark. A dry, almost powdery version of the beginning is left projecting for what seems like forever. Warm, sweet, so creamy.
This bad boy is date signature ten fold but beware… If you spray this too many times (like I did) expecting a little more from your CK, your date may not be able to breathe. Longevity and sillage are beastly. I would say this is in my top five most intense fragrances. I would suspect it for an older crowd, probably above 30. Cold weather is probably going to be your best bet as well. For the price I see it going for online, I’d say well worth it. May not be for some so blind buying may not be appropriate but I’m sure glad I did.

I smell peppermint…like candy. This sounds bad but actually is it done very well. The first time around I didn’t notice it as much. I don’t get the ingredients listed, sandalwood especially.

Woody and smoky, you’re in the mountain lodge with the fire burning. You’re warm & cosy & it’s cold outside. You’re enjoying the moment. The crackling of the fire ripples through the room and some of the smoke escapes. U get a deep awareness of the still and quiet place you’re in. As u take it all in u notice the warm inviting smell. It is calming and soothing. U go back to your routine in the city and long to be taken back to the mountains. U take out your ck liquid gold and spray it on, that’s it, all of a sudden you’re there again, u feel the fire and experience the smell of you’re beautiful mountain moment.
    Update
This is a longevity and projection beast. First smell was strong but nice then I kept smelling my wrist and it was strong but I stopped this and appreciated as it lingers around me.
If u love sandalwood then this is for u. This is the most beautiful sandalwood, nothing artificial smelling, this is an amazing fragrance if u can warm up to it. I’m not sure how it always comes across because it’s so strong and unique, but I love it.
Am enjoying it in the comfort of my home in Sydney Australia, we’re at the end of winter. According to some people this scent fades quickly in warm climates which I will soon see as spring and summer roll in. Jettison could pick up coconut and cinnamon & I get that too. A real surprise from CK and my new signature scent :))
    Update
Ive had more time to reflect on this scent and im still very much in love with it, however this is a when your home scent. Perfect for cooler times. Keeps me warm. It’s the deep, woody, smoky experience I love. Very comforting scent. home beacause i imagine smelling this on someone else and I really don’t think I would like it. Just call me a home boy when I put this one on!

Second time around and liking it even more. A very unique smell, pleasant for a romantic eve…

Buttery like butterscotch with peppermint. Nice and somwhat unique but only light-moderate sillage and low to medium longevity. Definitely more of a night cologne than a day/work one. Even though somewhat low in sillage and longevity, I would grade this a B because of the interesting combo of fragrances.

    Baloney-cologney. Haha. I love it.

  14. :

    5 out of 5

Let me just ditto everything invaderlark mentioned below. I am not a fan of Calvin Klein fragrance (too much department store baloney-cologney) but Liquid Gold Euphoria is a well-crafted fragrance that is unique, is elegant/refined/classy, performs well and just smells terrific. The problem with a designer offering a niche-like quality fragrance is that not everyone will appreciate it…so try before you buy. However, if you’re looking for something a little outside of the mainstream, for a reasonable price, then give this one a shot.

Upon first sniff, I’m in love. This is a perfect balance of sweetness, woodiness, and spice. It’s a super sensual scent! I will post my official rating after I give it a proper wearing. Fingers crossed!
    Update:
    Wonderful scent…short lived on me.

Absolutely hated it, asked the SA to smell it after she offered it to me and she couldn’t hide her disgust either. Other than CK shock, I don’t really care for much from Calvin Klein in the last 10 years as far as fragrances go.

    Initial impression short review-
Very linear creamy sandlewood, made a bit dusty with saffron. Preformance seems good, decently persistent sillage. Very sweet.
Not quite what I expected, thought it would be drier.

I work at Macy’s as a vendor for Coty Prestige and we just got this fragrance in and I absolutely love it. It’s such a quality sandalwood combined with that dry saffron. The opening is a bit weird because the saffron and sandalwood come off as smokey in tandem. I think it’s the most unique and “niche” out of the Calvin Klein range. I was told by other vendors and associates that not many people are liking it due to the strong woody opening. It is a bit above the mainstream to really appreciate, not to sound like a snob. The drydown is more dusty sandalwood and saffron and it’s definitely more approachable and I hate this word but “cozy”. I really hope that we keep this one in our lineup because I think other fragheads/people in the fragrance community will really enjoy it. The projection is strong at first but I think it becomes a skinscent after about 2 to 3 hours; longevity is pretty good too. I got at least 6 hours on my skin and that was on dry skin.
The price is steep for this Eau De Parfum. It’s in the high $90’s to $100 range in one size with no gift sets as of right now. Some may say this fragrance is too simplistic and I can see that, but compared to other fragrances on the market today with every note but the kitchen sick, Demeter you should be making that one ;), it’s nice to have a fragrance stripped back. This is probably the most niche quality fragrance Calvin Klein has produced. Perfect for all and winter.
Update*: The price has gone down to $85, at least that’s what the cash register rang it up as. Get it while you can.

Okay let me put this review:
For those who live in South East Asia, this perfume is not suitable to be use in warm day light. Its just vaporized in few minute.
However, this perfume works fine if you use it in cold environment like office, rainy night or if you attend a special function in dinner where there is air conditioning in the dining room.
For the aroma, i totally love it. I got compliment for this because of the sweet taste.
longevity, is good and last for a day. Sillage is not that great but for those who desire intimacy like hugs and kisses, this is for you.

Imagine my surprise, while at Macy’s today…and there this was !!! I asked the SA…”When did you get this in stock” !!??….She said last week. I tested it asap, and it was love at first sniff !!! One size, $85.00. But, I am going to wait this one out to see if on-line the prices will come down….lol…..This scent is reviewd as spicy..heavy….powerhouse…I guess that could mean for the middle-east version….???…..I find it has a certain spiciness…and freshness too..somehow. I wonder if it went thru a re-formulation for the introduction to the USA….???…. Still, I really like the scent alot!
The note you see listed above, to my nose, is exactly what you get. I am still upset about the discontinuation of the first Euphoria Gold….one of my Top 5’s. I guess that happened to make “room” for this version on the shelves. As usual, the longevity is lacking…damn !!
But I honestly will have to do a “full” wearing to investigate that part.

This is a “dark” fragrance in the sense that its smell can be related to other fragrances that incorporate the words, “Black” “Noire” and “Night” in their titles. In other words, it has that particular sweetness that is related to men’s fragrances often intended for date nights and night clubs. Liquid Gold is a sweet woody-spicy fragrance, a touch powdery–a combination of a robust, bold sandalwood accord paired with saffron. The black pepper in this doesn’t smell like pepper but rather it gives the fragrance a fresh-spicy edge. And that’s something that I think is important to clarify with Liquid Gold if you’re to understand anything about it by reading a review; although this is a very powerful fragrance with intense projection and a far-reaching sillage, it doesn’t feel particularly thick or heavy. It maintains a sort of powdery freshness that makes it comfortable to wear. So it’s indeed strong, but it’s not the kind of scent that will weigh you down and make you feel like you’re dragging around a heavy cloud of scent as long as you keep the sprays to a reasonable amount. This is a quality scent; the sandalwood is solid–it actually smells like sandalwood, as opposed to many fragrances which claim to use it– and its sweet saffron is aromatic and pleasant, with a smooth, polished feel. I could imagine if this were sold in Sephora possibly under a different brand and name it would do very well. Call it “Tom Ford Midnight Noir” and people would love it. Unfortunately, Calvin Klein has developed something of a bad reputation among fragrance enthusiasts, so I think a lot of people have overlooked this one. But I think CK’s been on the rise. Many of their recent releases–Reveal Men, Euphoria Gold, CK2, and CK Shock–are actually pretty good, and show signs of improvement in their department. You can add Liquid Gold Euphoria to this list as well. Considering it’s now available in the US for under $60 it’s definitely worth sampling and I’d even recommend it as a blind buy with some words of caution: Liquid Gold is INTENSE, and it has a sweetness that some find a bit feminine. Personally, I don’t think it smells too feminine–at least not in the sense of florals and white musk–which are usually the notes that do it for me. Liquid Gold doesn’t have those. Also, you probably won’t be using this as a daily-wear style of fragrance. Due to its projection and sweet, woody-spicy character it feels best suited for nights out and colder ones at that. Overall, Liquid Gold Euphoria has excellent performance–big projection and 12+ hours of longevity–and avoids any harsh, synthetically chemical accords or the flat and sort of feeble structure some CK compositions of the past have exhibited. It will project an alluring sillage that seems designed to appeal to a mainstream audience as it’s pleasant and devoid of any “weird” or awkward notes. Thumbs up.
To help figure out if you’d like it, think Dior Homme Parfum, Tom Ford Noir Extreme, La Nuit De L’Homme, Bulgari Man Black, Valentino Uomo and CH Men. While Liquid Gold smells different than these, it fits within this genre of dark, woody-sweet men’s date fragrances.

Just received my bottle today. The bottle, alone, is worth mentioning, imo. It is black glass, and heavy…beautifully masculine. The first spray stirs up the sandalwood…very rich, not sweet at all. Then, comes the black pepoer, to jazz it up just a bit. Saffron is subtle, but important. Delicious scent…perfectly balanced in its non-overbearing quality, it is maddingly elusive. One could wear this in a social setting, and be fine. Glad I blind-bought it, based on reviews here…so thanks, ya’ll! This scent is Divine.

I got this blind on auction site for steal. I was dreaming of the sandalwood note of Trend or Rush, what I get is a saffron bomb that mellows to a creamy spiced sandalwood that was unfamiliar to me. That is not a bad thing. It smells unlike any typical western scent from Sephora in my opinion, it’s what I imagine the youth of the UAE smelling like. I find it young, it’s a masculine scent. I get a heady floral spicey sandalwood that projects and gets noticed with positive results. Definitely will be much better in the fall and winter, in the heat of Texas summer is deteriorates a bit to the sweet side but not syrupy. I’m glad I got this because it seems like it will disappear into obscurity…

Calvin Klein Liquid Gold Euphoria was allegedly released only outside the US in 2014 when it came out but luckily it has become available on BeautySpin recently ($72 for 100ml) so I was fortunate enough to grab a bottle. Its mainstay notes are vanilla, pepper, and balsam fir, but I get an element of sandalwood as well. The result is a very nice cold-weather-friendly composition that stands out from the rest of the Euphoria line.
To that point, Liquid Gold is the best expression of Euphoria I’ve tried–the sweetness of the line, with the spiciness of Gold, peppiness of Intense, yielding a truly interesting gourmand creation. Warm, spicy, sweet, smooth–this could be a cold weather mainstay for many.
Liquid Gold Euphoria also has the distinction (for me) of being the only EDP concentration Calvin Klein’s men fragrance on the market that I’m aware of, though I could be neglectful here.
Accordingly, performance is very strong in terms of both projection and especially longevity. And although I’m testing it in the day, this is definitely preferable for nighttime usage, and can dress up well for formal occasions. I almost find this worthy of being kept in the cooler, though it’s not terribly expensive.
Certainly a compelling blind buy and something you ought to check out if you like the sound of it—the consensus seems to be strongly in its favor.

This fragrance is rich, sophisticated, luxurious but a bit too sweet. I get more sweetness them smoke and there is indeed a sour aspect to it once it settles down which gives it a nice touch. Quality and performance are outstanding and if the sweetness would be just a bit less, then I could praise it even more. I any way its a great release from CK which will reach for often at special occasions or even workdays when I want to feel and radiate a vide of sophistication.

Liquid Gold is not for the fainthearted. Neither it is for people who likes run of the mill types. Probably, it is not so good for dusty humid climate. It is for the winter, for people who can come close together, bodies hugging each other. Your girlfriend had to come close enough to feeeeeeeeeeeeeel the scent! The first note it comes to mind is metal and then the next thing it hits you is sour, not the sourness of citrus or lemony or orange. Just sour. in two words, my review is “Sour Metal”. Probably it mimics armpit sweat minus the cumin. I don’t know why people mentions armpits as cumin flavour!! Eludes me, most armpit sweat small differently. It may go well on a rockstar, sweaty and energetic while the stage is fire lit! It’s good for people riding on a Harley, chains dragging on from the black jeans, tattoos over arms, Gothic! That’s it! This is a Gothic scent! The koel lined mascaric girlfriend with all leather black trousers and a sleeveless top to go with it. Smudged so to say. The smudginess is in the perfume, nothing straight. It’s made to feel careless. And yes, it reminds of sex, sweaty sex on a empty highway, the sun soaking your naked torsos. But the longevity is not hat great, unless you spray it on your armpits. The sillage is minimal. So no statement either. But its different and unusual. Gothic Sour Metal! The bottom line cannot be better than that. Thank You.

I blindly bought it and didn’t expect to receive such a masterpiece from CK! It’s absolutely fantastic and I’m happy to have it! The longevity and projection are excellent as well. The scent itself is rich, woody, slightly sweet and a bit smoky. It is definitely a cold weather scent. Don’t waste your time to read reviews, go and grab it, it deserves 10 stars in my opinion! The best CK Men’s fragrance I have ever smelled.
