Description

The oldest Estee Lauder brand, Aramis, together with Ford Motors has announced launch of a new fragrance for men – Mustang.

The legendary American car brand has got its fragrance with Mustang logo on the bottle and outer box. This very masculine fragrance is at the same time very American – intense, wild, yet elegant like everything presented by Estee Lauder.

The fragrance opens with intense notes of lavender, ginger and lemon. The sharp freshness slides into the masculine heart notes composed of tobacco and cedar wood. The composition is rounded by notes of amber, juniper and patchouli. It presents the real American romantics: freedom and challenge of vast wild spaces, fast and strong car, and tobacco as an unavoidable symbol of one time whilom America.

The fragrance was created in 2007.

The nose behind this fragrance is Ilias Ermenidis.

… not bad , but I get a vinegar note now and then … strange , it comes and goes … don´t know if it is of an edible vinegar , or acetic acid used when developing photos … strange …
… the vinegar note is associated with the initial smell , the drydown is much better, as I remmbered ..,.

It smells fresh and clean, to me it’s got quite a sporty mature scent.
Great for an everyday, anytime, no nonsense spray and forget about it type of scent that’s quite subtle but there all the same.
Not too much lemon or pine smell with a great underlying subtle lavender and tobacco, the ginger is just great.
An all round really nice blend I could recommend for almost anyone.
Bottom line is, it’s just nice, simple and fresh and not overpowering with lavender and amber teaming up for a finale pleasant dry down that makes for a nice cozy skin scent that lasts a little longer.
    Glad I have it.

Although quite generic, you can’t deny this is good quality. Not something I’d go buy myself (my boss gave me a 50ml bottle as a gift, lol) but I can definitely see some people having a taste for it. Normally, I hate it but today it’s been performing great. So I think it’s best during that weird ‘winter is over but spring ain’t quite here yet’ season. You won’t find me wearing it any other time of the year.
I’d say if you want a quick winter/spring cologne for all things casual; rather than choosing from a wide range of watery poo, this one’s worth the year-long wait.

Surprisingly subtle, gentle, and transparent for a “Mustang.” Effervescent lemon-ginger accord to start, with a long-lasting, ginger-tinged tobacco, leather, cedar mid-base. Very versatile and soothing.

I’ve got the First American Brands version. It smells pleasant enough and has longevity, but on me it becomes pretty much a skin scent after about an hour.

Picked this up at Ross for only $10 for the 3.4 bottle size. I got the new bottle style that looks different than the picture on this site. Actually for the very low price I paid, Ford Mustang turned out to be a great fragrance! It has that kind of traditional masculine cologne vibe, but at the same time is not too strong. Admittedly this cologne is quite “generic” and will not win any awards for originality, but that was not what I was looking for. For spritzing on before work, school, heading out to the mall, or possibly even a casual date, this juice will suffice just fine. Cedar, woods, and tobacco are the notes that come to my mind when smell ing this. Projection and longevity are both above average and this fragrance lasts me all day. As a bonus this stuff is made by Estee Lauder so you know it is good quality. I am not into cars at all, but this stuff smells great! Definitely an underrated gem and a strong contender for my signature daily wear scent.

In the perfume smell I found a signature that is perfect for me and love it! I love every element of ingredients!
    Full of harmony.
Sillage is not very strong, but that’s not the goal ……
Since my 40+ age group, not the current scents are my favorites!
Mustang is a classic and yet timeless fragrance!
James Dean (favorite actor) comes to mind when wearing the scent, and she was Porsche fan!
Perhaps the feeling of freedom, perhaps the car or the rebel and bohemian lifestyle …
    I do not know.
But very well symbolize the horse – Mustang – this world ………
Let me note here that the Porsche crest is “horse” is!
Great aroma and a nice work, “car” company.
Excellent price / performance ratio !!
I will always keep him at home !!!

I found Mustang Eau De Toilette Pour Homme at Marshalls for $9.99. For this price I figured I had nothing to loose(I also got Mustang Sport for the same price). It is a new bottle with new packaging that actually has the Ford logo on the box and bottle. The old packaging did not as far as I can tell by the picture above. Also, no more tin box, and the cap is black and silver in a racing flag check. It is made in America by First American Brands, Inc.
As far as the scent, I am not going to try to pick it apart and disect it; but I don’t get any individual notes. It is long lasting and has decent projection.
At first it reminds me more of Calvin Klein Eternity than the current formulation of CK Eternity does. The scent is not linear. It turns into a woody and spicy scent that calls to mind Chanel Platinum Egoiste after a couple of hours. Not bad, and it last longer than fragrances I’ve paid much more for.
If you don’t have Eternity or Platinum Egoiste this is a good cheap alternative. I’m not sure when I will actually wear this, but I’m keeping it for very casual days.

The car is BEAST but certainly not this fragrance. The opening smells cheap but the dry-down smells ok. I like this fragrance in a cool spring late afternoon.

This is a very nice scent. Very “manly” to me. It does last and could go anywhere from the office to a party. Very “safe”.

I could cry. Such ingrediants, such combination, smells great fresh out of the bottle. Immediate hit of being in the front of a classic 1950’s or 1960’s motor. Leather, wood, lemon, a touch of dads spice, mums lavender, and a fresh pack of Chesterfields just opened – a perfect picture.
The downside is that the scent is a one hit wonder, it really does lack depth. I do like the fragrance, it’s good enough for a cheap cologne for a few pounds or dollars, certainly not for the RRP originally set against it.

I had a few reservations about buying a car fragrance. The idea seemed odd to me. But the price wasn’t bad, so I figured what the heck.
Fairly common “woody spicy” fragrance that can be compared to a number of its contemporaries. The whole cedar-wood thing is becoming a tad overplayed.
On first spray the top notes are present but not overbearing, a bit citrusy with a hint of ginger, light and fresh, it’s altogether not bad at all. It’s fairly smooth and even-keeled.
In the drydown it becomes a simple but pleasant woodsy tobacco, nothing too complicated. Again, smooth, clean and….elegant? Can I use that word on a 15$ fragrance based on America’s #1 selling ponycar? I guess I can.
Projection and sillage are moderate, it does not generate a lot of drama but I’ve gotten some compliments from people who have gotten close enough to get a good whiff. Longevity is so-so, 6-7 hours
    Presentable.

It would not be surprising if this becomes a minor classic. Gym bag, office, friends, coffee… it goes with almost everything informal. It’s clean. It’s interesting. It lasts 15 hours. One or two sprays is enough. It’s inexpensive. It’s got a lot going for it.

Reminds me a tiny bit of burberry brit for some reason (must be the ginger) but it’s nothing like it, it’s nowhere near as powdery. This is very masculine and last a good while, anyone should get a solid 6 to 8 hours out of this. I don’t think this is ideal for an office scent nor should it be wasted as an everyday scent. This is probably ideal for going out on dates or parties. The stats above say it’s better for the day than the night, but I think this will do a good job for long nights out or clubs if you want to use a fragrance. P.S. This stuff is strong, if you try it make sure to spray 3 to 4 times at the most, anymore and you could choke yourself out.

For the price, this juice gets my blessing. Sure, it has some alcohol in the top, but burns off leaving a citrussy tobacco with ginger and a heap of lavender. 12 hours later, I can still smell it at skin level. There is something that smells like cardamom in this as well…maybe tobacco mixed with lavender, I don’t know, but its better than just about anything else I can think of for under $15. Similar to all these woody/spicy scents that are hitting the market now, and this did it years ago.

BEAST!!!!!!!! This is the only word to describe mustang by Estee lauder. You cannot in any shape form or fashion go wrong with this one. Smells amazing, has great sillage, and great longevity. I walked into the daycare to drop the kids off and the sitter says to me: Excuse me sir can I ask you a personal question? Sure. she says, this may sound random but I just want to tell you that you smell so good….lol I thanked her and then she says, I bet you get that alot don’t you? I said well I do like to smell good. I thanked her for her encouragement and walked out. Got back to the car and smiled because I sprayed tadah Mustang by estee lauder on before I left the house. Great cologne for the price and the smell. If you see this one buy it. I highly recommend it.

This is a very, very nice cologne, especially for the price. The gift set was on sale for only $10 at Gordman’s. I smelled it and couldn’t understand how it was so cheap! Put this in a Burberry bottle and it would be a bestseller. I bought the gift set for my brother. At the store I sprayed the set with the tester so that (ideally) he’d be able to decide if he liked it before opening it. I started getting compliments immediately – from the woman at the checkout, to everyone in the family when I brought the gift set home. It’s a very heavy, masculine scent with lots of musk and that LOVELY undertone of tobacco. No one in my family smokes, but this scent is something we can all enjoy. Needless to say, my brother absolutely loved it, and the smell stayed with the box until I gave him the gift a few weeks later.

I’m a tobacco fragrance fan, though I don’t like all of them. I do like Kors’ Michael for Men, which Mustang most closely resembles. However, I do think that they are different enough so that if you like these kinds of fragrances you might want to own own both. Mustang would be for warmer weather and the daytime, whereas MfM would be for cooler weather and nights. At this point, I’d have to say that I prefer MfM because it has a richness and depth that Mustang does not, though Mustang has it’s own interesting qualities (they are lighter, perhaps due to ginger, juniper, and a little lemon). A very good tobacco “cheapo,” though you can often get MfM on ebay cheaply if you have patience. In either case, don’t expect the usual “fresh” fragrance; these both have more of a “mature” quality, and of course a lot of people today don’t want to smell even a hint of tobacco, regardless of the source. If you want a “light” version of Havana, give this one a try. Another way to think about it is as a simplied Uomo? Moschino, with some mild tobacco included.
UPDATE: Far into the drydown, there is a really “deep” quality with the tobacco note playing a prominent role. It has a kind of earthy, barren feel that I actually like a lot, sort of niche-like but not as strong as you would expect in a niche fragrance. I think there’s a little ginger that’s providing just a bit of lightness. At this point, it’s certainly different enough from MfM and bottle worthy to me, especially at current prices. Thankfully, I don’t get strong patchouli, which I don’t like if it’s not faint, and the cedar note is subtle (the new chemicals being used to create a cedar effect can be really harsh). Lastly, the scientific name for oakmoss is listed as an ingredient, so it’s odd that this is not said to be one of the notes.

I only have the aftershave of this little gem, but it has sufficient strength to review it. The ginger opening is fantastic and rich, it is balanced with the lemon. The sweetness and spiciness is just right and underpinned by the tobacco and woody notes. It is a lively and bright fragrance like the car it represents.

I think this is a beautiful fragrance,it has a lovely opening of ginger and lemon and I love the tobacco notes in this fragrance. This is a good all day cologne.Only real draw back is that it only lasts a couple of hours.

Meh. Save your money. I thought it would have been better than it is. Someone said it smells like a weak Michael Kors – it does barely – I was severely disappointed.

A nice fresh fragrance with a pipe tobacco note. Is blended better than some fragrances at 5 times the price. A good bargin fragrance for someone on a budget.

This scent is for a particular guy, he who works out, is very very confident & knows his engines. Mustang has a firm top and a sentual base. It’s almost as if it wher liquid guy, or what you would imagine one of the bad boys who drives a Mustang would smell like. It’s a great fragrance to have in the stang…I know I have a bottle in mine.

I always love cars. Even though, car fragrances are tacky, I still find myself collecting them. This Mustang smells quite good. I definitely smell sweet and spicy combo from ginger and lemon; making the scent very appealing to most people. I also smell tabacco blossom that is slightly sweet and aromatic. It’s not exactly smoky but it’s kinda dry here. And for cedar, I have no idea where it is. Juniper and musk are at the base as expected but it’s still all about that nice tabacco blossom. Note: it doesn’t smell like smokey cigarette.
Overall, I find the scent very appealing to most men. It doesn’t smell cheap. Great for a holiday and birthday gift, especially for those who loves cars. By far, this one beats the silly Corvette cologne (maybe the Hummer too), and don’t forget it was created by Estee Lauder, so you get a lot for the money. Still my ultimate car fragrance is the Bugatti, but why does it have to be so expensive?! (T~T)
I almost forgot to mention that the spray nozzle is superb. I mean it has a serious “Direct Injection” going on. With just a little press, it sprays out quite a lot and evenly. Porsche The Essence should learn from this and get theirs replaced!
Thanks gypsy parfumista for this gift. My first Mustang ever! Literally…

This was one of my first purchases since then, and I simply couldn’t write a review about. So, I left it forgotten in the wardrobe. Good for you to have a time to use and try other things, to realize you like that one. At that time I had (at least I thought I had) an issue with something that I thought could be put in your car (or a Mustang), like an oil, but far from that. I don’t get the ginger at the point of say “ginger”(thanks), and all the other things together makes a scent which you don’t mess with anything feminine at all. The sweetness doesn’t have anything to do with candies or flowers. For me a very good scent, another one that I can not dislike

I use to drive only Fords and I did have a black mustang and I use to wear Aramis so my girlfriend bought this for me to try. She likes it so I guess I’ll be wearing it even if I didn’t like it. But I have to say it is a great scent, strong but not too strong and the lavender is a departure for me as I normally go for the cologne with heavy vetiver scents.

Mustang, to me, is the little brother of Michael by Michael Kors. It is less complex than Michael, but that doesn’t mean it is any less of a good scent. I bought Mustang and Michael because they are two, of very few, that have a pipe tobacco note (lots have cigar notes, few have pipe).
It opens with a citrus and ginger enhanced lavender, with the pipe tobacco playing a key role. This startup accord hangs on for a long time and then a touch of cedar starts to come through. It’s a little bit linear in the top and mid notes, until the base starts to emerge. The dry down sweetens the fading top notes a little with patchouli and the amber comes through lightly well into the base. I don’t get any Fir notes, which is good for me because I don’t like strong evergreen notes in a cologne. If Fir is there, it’s very subtle and may just strengthen the heart.
Mustang could be worn by any age group, while Michael, a “boozy” scent, is a “Men only, please” type of fragrance. Mustang is good for everyday/weekend casual wear, but could also be worn to the office because it doesn’t smell like any alcoholic beverages. The top and mid notes are strong for almost an hour, and the whole thing lasts a little less than average. On me, it lasts almost 4 hours (I consider average to be between 4 and 6 hours).
I like Mustang, and I’m anticipating another good scent when the new Mustang Blue is available in my area.
