I’m strongly reminded of hot toddies before the brandy is added. On my skin this is all honeyed beeswax, lemon and ginger. This lemon is ethereal; it contains all kinds of disparate qualities of brightness and softness, leaping into focus as it simultaneously seems to recede. Bright, beautiful, delicate, fleeting.
I know the citrus note is meant to be lime but the part of my mind that is ‘seeing’ what I’m smelling is convinced it’s lemon and will not be dissuaded.
My last foray into natural scent was very lacklustre (everything from that perfumer smelled briefly like bubble gum on my skin then vanished) so the deliciousness here is quite a revelation, though what I’d really want to do is butter my whole body in a tub of this stuff and at this price point that would be impossible. (I should add the texture of this solid is perfect too, which is what put the phrase ‘butter my body’ in my head.)
