Description

In September 2008 Gwen Stefani, in cooperation with Cot, prepares to launch a surprise of five fragrance collection devoted to Harajuku fans. The fragrances come in a form of cute small dolls, each of which has its own personality, style, and fragrant note.

There had to be five fragrances as each of them represents different styles of women. Each of the dolls consists of two parts. The upper part is the doll itself, fitted on a pedestal-like glass base filled with the fragrance. The outer boxes give a story of the perfume doll enclosed inside.

Harajuku Lovers collection includes fragrances , Lil’ Angel, Music, Baby and G, and each of them is devoted to one of her back vocals, Harajuku Girls, reflecting their fashion and life styles, while one represents her.

Music is composed by Honorine Blanc of Firmenich. The top notes bring fresh aromas of peach and clementine, the heart blends floral notes of jasmine sambac, sweet pea and honeysuckle. The base introduces vanilla, musk, and woodsy accords. The scent of Music is charismatic and brings joy.

Have to say sprayed it on me last night before bed..yes,.I wear perfume to bed,and I still smell it on me at 8:30 this morning! Awesome longevity. It is a ver musky pear, but not offensive at all. I kinda like it. Great to wear to work, won’t handout headaches like some do. Sillage, is close to skin kinda of hovers close to the body, but it will walk behind you down a hallway. This is only a “like” fragrance for my me is it a holy grail….Nah!

Edit- the smell grew on me. It’s like a sweet honey covered pear.

No idea why I even bought this (or the other 4 in this line)…the Harajuku bottles are just ridiculous. Designed for 10 year olds. Guess I was curious about the scent…and I was surprised that I didn’t absolutely hate it.
To me this makes me think of green melons…even though there are no melons in it. The opening is quite sharp and synthetic but give it 10 minutes and it softens dramatically (praise be) to a light, green, sort of natural clean scent. I get no jasmine. The honeysuckle adds a sweetness and the drydown was creamier than I was expecting.
The whole show is over in about 2 hours.
    L: Poor
    S: Soft
    Not worth the purchase

This was a blind buy that I got because I like the little doll bottles. Unfortunately, I’m not so enamoured with the fragrance itself, at least the opening. I expected a pretty, inoffensive fruity floral but got a big whiff of something plastic and totally synthetic. It smelled like cheap pear shampoo. I’m guessing that this is supposed to be the green note? At any rate, it does calm down after a minute or two and become a very green, soapy fruity floral. Despite being a fairly light fragrance it’s strangely overpowering. I can see why it gave some people a headache – I’m guessing it’s that shampoo note. After about an hour it dries down to something I actually enjoy though; a cool, watery green floral. I generally don’t pan fragrances but this one is really hard for me to enjoy, which is a shame because I do like the cute bottle.

    Blind buy.
I just got this today, so this is only my initial opinion. I’ve had it on all afternoon, and I can only make out one scent, which is, a smell that makes me think of a green watery fruit, with a subtle taste, bordering on savoury. I know I said green juicy fruit, but I definitely don’t mean pear.
I could imagine it being worn in the summer as it has a light and clean feel to it.
At the end of the day the scent changes to something like caramel or toffee, with maybe a hint of vanilla.
I always spray on my clothes, rather than on skin, so this is the perfume unaffected by my personal scent.
This perfume smells amazing if you leave it on long enough. In fact, I think its at its best the next day (sprayed on clothes), it makes me think of fresh laundry. Its just a shame about the intro scent.

I purchased this from Gordman’s…about 5 years ago. I wore it frequently for a couple of months, but then it started giving me terrible headaches. I will try this out again here in the spring and see if anything has changed. It’s OK. I would definitely not repurchase.

🙂 🙂 This is one of those scents that I can’t get enough of! Although it’s categorized as a fruity floral scent, it hardly smells that way to me. To me this is a yummy, creamy, and rich gourmand fragrance. I smell the vanilla note the most. And for some reason it smells like an expensive and decadent dessert treat to me. I like to spray my bed with it every night, so I can sleep in that yummy and satisfying deliciousness. This scent does not last at all on my skin, but it stays for days on my sheets. I can smell a hint of floral from pillow the day after. Besides that it just smells like something I want to eat. I love it so much that I even bought a 100ml-bottle tester of it on ebay. But I’ll probably use it as a room spray more often than on myself though. 😛
8/10 is my score for it. 🙂 🙂

My favourite out of all the Harajuku Lovers collection, however I like it, I don’t love it. It is sweet, but not sickening sweet and I like to wear it during the day, summer/spring.

This Is my favorite of the line.for me its better than g or li’l angel, still fruity but it doesn’t over whelm with too much of it. Wicked Style Music is also great. Completely different and smells more expensive than all the others.

To me this just smells like hair wax, or old makeup. I think it is that I bought an old solid perfume. If I ever got the opportunity to try the actual liquid perfume, I’ll review it again. For now I just can’t say if it is for spring, fall, summer or winter or if it’s good for day or night.

Just received this perfume in the mail today. It was a Blind buy and I can honestly say i love this smell. It’s a soft sweet floral and the bottle is adorable (tbh ALL of the Harajuku Lovers bottles are). On me, the silage is extremely soft, hardly noticeable unless you are extremely close. Definitely a causal fragrance for the spring/summer time. Only thing i don’t like is that after awhile, the bottle will start peeling and the doll looks all worn and cheap. None the less, if you take good care of the bottle, it’s an amazing collectors item. Can’t wait to try the others 🙂

A soft perfume with fruit and flowers. The honeysucklenote is dominant
A perfekt spring/summer fragrance for a young girl.
That also will appreciate the cute bottle.

I hate that I like the way these perfumes smell. I don’t want to like them because I think the bottles look like stupid cheap toys that I’m embarrassed to display on my vanity. I am woman, I want my fragrances to come to me in an elegant, feminine container, not in something I feel I should be buying for a 7 year old’s birthday present. Am I just being to picky? 🙁 They should be beautiful and classy like Gwen!

Not the biggest fan of this scent. It smells almost sour to me. Am i the only one who thinks that?

Honestly, this literally just smells like a pear body splash on my skin.

I just found my bottle of this after putting it in a box under my bed when I re-decorated last year. I remember buying this one about two years ago in TK Maxx, I was so excited to find a harajuku lovers perfume after I drooled over them in Debenhams when they were first released.
I haven’t tried them all but I’m pretty happy with this one. I was shocked it had Honeysuckle as I usually hate fragrances with it. I think it’s because this has a strong “sour” note that covers up any sickly sweetness.
I’ll be keeping this in my handbag for a while to try and use it up. I’m on a mission to get through most of my bottles 😉
I think this is a great perfume for the summer as It’s refreshing and light.

This is delicious. An aquired scent, but unique and more a warm fruity scent. I was sad when my bottle ran out 🙁 I wish the fragrance came in larger sizes, though I admit the bottles are adorable!

    Sorry Gween

This smells like peaches, guava, and Hawaiian Punch to me. I have a bottle and I liked it at the store. Got it home and it’s like a sweet blast to me now. Not sure about it, seems nice for a day out on the weekend. A little immature on the nose, but it is called Harajuku Girls. Seems like it’s for Tweens.

  23. :

i really dislike this smell. it’s too sweet for me which i didn;t really understand.
when i looked at the notes, i expected it too be fresher or sweet in an other way.

  24. :

One of my favorites from the HL line. It’s pretty linear and just smells like sweet fresh chilled pear the entire way through but that is ok with me because I love it!

  25. :

    3 out of 5

Very sweet and fruity. definitely smell a lot of pineapple and i like it a lot. It´s a loud, prominent and a slightly cheap scent and will last all day. I finish my bottle but wouldn´t buy me another one.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

Very fun, and I do love this scent, but the people I know seem to dislike it….it does smell a little cheap, and the pear is very strong….I probably wouldn’t like it if I didn’t like pear so much. Doesn’t last long at all. If you’re in middle school, go for it.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

I loved G and Baby so I bought Music too. But I didn’t like it. Smelled too much like Juicyfruit gum. Sold it on e-bay. Bottle was really cute, though.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

This is a sweet and soothing floral to me. It has a tiny bit of too much fruit for me, but its still balanced well since the floral is still strong enough to make an appearance. The dry down is pretty sweet. So far I like it, but its on my list to finish it as quickly as I can….
    Update:
No matter how hard I tried to wear this I could barely stand it
    >.<
I also had the small bottle of this and I just was never in the mood to wear it…
I finally used it up as a room spray (I sprayed it all around the house at a time I knew no one would be home so that the smell wouldn’t be lingering in the air when everyone was around to smell it). I think it was the pear note that killed it for me. It ended be way too sweet. Considering that I don’t like pears too much to begin with I’m kind of not surprised…
Sorry for the negativity! I did like it at first, but not anymore >.

I want this one so bad… I have the “snow bunnies” version and it has the same beautifully paired heart notes!
just something about it makes me just start fantasizing lol
once i get it i’ll compare it to the version i have right now ^u^

To me this smells exactly like the Sun Ripened Raspberry body spray from Bath & Body Works that everyone wore back in the 90s. I really like it and I’m not usually a fan of fruity scents. It lasts all day too with a nice musky finish.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

Sorry but this scent is all over the place! All I know is that I like it! I wore it to a club one night since it’s called “Music”. I know – cheesy! Lol. But several men commented on how good I smelled and even asked me the name of my fragrance, which never happens! It’s a keeper :)..it’s sensual.

If suddenly appears a trend of flower bouquets mixed with fruits,Harajuku Lovers’ Music would be an early example:
Music is a bouquet of pear and flowers that blends delightfully in a sweet but fresh and sophisticated manner, great for those like fruity florals but are tired of sugar shocking fragrances.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

It’s a pleasant scent, not offensive. Maybe the Pear is a bit too strong. It is nice though if you like that. Sort of reminds me of Bath and Body Works though, rather than an nicer perfume. 6/10

  34. :

    4 out of 5

I like this. To me it smells like pears, sweet pea, and vanilla. It’s a good scent for when you want to smell nice, but not amazing. (a Saturday spent at a coffee shop, for instance)
    Scent: 8/10 (nice)
Bottle: 8/10 (Cute, but since the doll’s dress is so short it’s slightly disturbing to me, lol)
    Staying power: 6.5/10 (4 hours)
Overall, a casual, nice, sweet, unoffensive scent.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

I found the pear note a bit too strong for my liking. The scent has quite a bit of staying power though, and I was able to catch a whiff of pear and sweet pea every now and then. The other notes were barely noticeable to me, or very brief if anything.

  36. :

I find this to be sweet and fruity and lovely!
It was the second perfume I ever liked. I chose it because of the name — I was a music student in high school at the time, and now in university for music. I did smell the other ones of this line, but music is the only one I like!
I’m currently on my second bottle! The first one came with a solid perfume, which I love for trips!

my favorite fragance ever 😀 smells fruity like pears, loooooove it!!!

  38. :

i get nutty musk and pear, then some milk and vanilla in this one. warm autumn scent close to skin scent. gone too fast – 1 hour.

  39. :

You can’t smell the clementines, pears, or vanille at all! This scent is strictly florals and they are STRONG! This perfume always gives me a headache and I end up having to wash it off within the first hour.

  40. :

This is my all time favorite fragrance. It’s my signature scent. Smells like pears and vanilla. So lovely. I wear it on Fridays in the spring to symbolize the weekend.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I like this and I don’t care if people think I smell juvenille. I am in my 30s and everytime I wear it I get compliments. It does have a chemical note but it seems to go after a few minutes on my skin. I found it lasted half a day before I needed to respray it. There is something comforting in it but it is not a sexy smell or sophisticated. I will continue to wear it even if it is for young girls I love it and the little doll but I can be a little eclectic at times so maybe I am just a bit strange!!:)

  42. :

    4 out of 5

It does open much like Pear Glace’ from Victoria’s Secret. On dry down, I smell sweetpea and sandalwood – but I guess it is actually musk.
    It’s nice, cute and interesting.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

OK, I admit it. I liked the bottle design; I found it cute and original and that’s the only reason why I purchased a 10 ml bottle without trying. If you consider doing the same, I must warn you: don’t try to smell it directly after removing the doll opening. The inside of the doll smells just horrible because of the plastic it is made. You really don’t want your first impression to be the perfume mixed with that.
After the first smelling, I thought it must have gone off. It was strong somehow stale. And yes, there still was something smelling of plastic. I didn’t like the second and third try either. But I wanted to give it a chance. And there it was. Something has changed. I still don’t like the opening but I have probably learnt to like what follows. It’s a sweet scent of pear and jasmine and a touch of vanilla.
I’ll keep it for silly nights out.

hey!!!how can u say that about music i think she smells awesome and her doll is really cute I’ve smelled it and i think it smells fine, although i love all of the harajuku lovers and i’m not a big fan on baby though all the ones on/based on her smell awful!!!

  45. :

    5 out of 5

This one is my 2nd least favorite out of the Harajuku Lovers original line.It smells like straight up plastic with a hint of fruit.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

I found the Harajuku scents also rather cheap smelling. The design already suggests that it’s for young girls.

  47. :

    3 out of 5

I have this perfume and I have trouble wearing it. On me it’s smells like a plastic fruit.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

    I dont like it.
After a while of owning it, it started to smell out of date and aged. It was pretty cheap smelling. Its ok for winter but I cant imagine wearing it any other time. She looks like a prostitute.
    I rate it:
    5/10 for fragrance
    8/10 for price
    6/10 for style

  49. :

Overpowering at first spray then mellows down to VS pear glaze scent.. Does not last 2 hours on me at all!

  52. :

    4 out of 5

I got this fragrance as a gift and at first could not get used to it. It’s not too overpowering, at first you smell sweet fruit coctail, but pleasantly sweet, not candy sweet, I pick little bit of pear blended with something else, then the scent developes into blend of jasmine – sweet pea – musky vanilla. It smells a bit powdery, like a baby, fragile, innocent.. to me it evokes winter evening, when you are watching from the warmth of your home life on the street getting all quiet with the falling snow. And although I wore this scent all through the year, I still find it perfect fit for winter.

  53. :

    4 out of 5

    I love this fragrance!
it has a light, vanilla, pear and jasmine scent!
it could actually pass as a classy, designer perfume, if you put a designer brand name on it!

  54. :

    4 out of 5

It is hard to put a finger on this one… pears and vanilla?…. I couldn’t pick out the notes before I looked them up but now that I know that’s supposed to be there I kind of get it… My initial though was juicy pineapple but not quite. In any case this is a juicy fruity one – fun for young girls I suppose.
I personally prefer Music Wicked Style – it is more floral than fruity and a bit more refined.

  55. :

    3 out of 5

To me, Music smells like a mix between hairspray and VS Body Splash, Pear Glace perhaps? (I love Pear Glace) But Music just has a chemical note to it that I don’t like. That’s not to say that it is bad… it’s just something I wouldn’t want to wear. Also the silage is faint.

  56. :

    5 out of 5

Yum! I really like this. Something in this is so sweet and pleasurable. Kinda reminds me a little of an older fragrance I like called Unruly by Prince Matchabelli. Very nice

  57. :

    3 out of 5

Is Music really tough with attitude? – More like affectionate with pleasureness…. ok, im clearly not ment to work with advertisement. But with Music, you just can’t quite put your finger into it. At first smelling her, i didn’t know what i was smelling. It was simply pleasant. The clementine and soft pear gave a tranquil feel.
The florals came in and again, they just wanted to please me. Everything soft and fluffly. Like a puppy or a small kitten that has its paws and belly up in the air. “come and rub my belly”
She is defiantly “pleasantness with cuteness”. Ties in well the SUPER KAWAII!!! Hehe 🙂 😉 LOL <3

  58. :

This collection is one of those that you purchase only because of the bottles. They are so cute. The fragrances, OMG, cheap, yuck smell. Regret 100% for buying them all LOL

  59. :

    3 out of 5

After smelling all of the HJL fragrances, I can confirm Music is my fave. SO YUMMY! It’s juicy, sparkly and just delicious. It’s energizing and carefree. I adore this scent.

  60. :

    4 out of 5

this is the only one of this collection I like, I don`t like sweet sickly perfumes and the others were sickly, I like this.

  61. :

    4 out of 5

This is seriously the worst fragrance I’ve ever smelled. It was so good in the bottle but on my skin it just got HORRIBLE! All I could smell was pineapple and all I did was longing to wash it away. And in the same time I just kept sniffing my wrist over and over again – to see if it really was such a nightmare. It was. It’s a shame because I lo the bottle and was really looking forward to buy it.

  62. :

    5 out of 5

Hmm, what is wrong with my brain wiring? I could have sworn I smelt watermelon – not the natural kind mind you but the ‘interpreted’ one common in youthful fragrance & lollies. It certainly doesn’t smell anything like any pear I have ever eaten!
In the end though, I guess it doesn’t matter which fruits are there, the end result is the same. This is a sweet, innocent, fun, girly kind of scent, the kind I would be happy to buy my pre-teen daughter.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this as suitable for anyone too mature in thier outlook but a bubbly 20-something could very well pull it off.

  63. :

    5 out of 5

I got this fragrance as a gift and dismissed it for a while, classifying it (wrongly) into the “s’alright” category.
Actually, this one is more than just “alright”!
Sure, it doesn’t have the elegance or sophistication of your regular french classics, but it does not *pretend* to.
This is a fragrance for gals with a sense of humour who don’t take it all too seriously. To me this perfume symbolizes all the fun part about being a girl (disregarding your age).
During hot summer days, it can turn syrupy, sticky-sweet, which again, is not unpleasant if you like this kind of stuff.
But it’s on chilly days that magic happens!
I suspect jasmine and sweet pea in giving out a subtle, smoky, slightly bitter note which balances out the pear note perfectly, almost turning this pretty scent into a CHYPRE fruity, rather than a floral. This little beauty reserves a few surprises, and is not as simple as it might seem at first.

  64. :

    3 out of 5

this one is fruit pure fruity sweetness.
i like it, and like to have the choice to wear this on sunny days, but wouldn’t repurchase.

  65. :

    5 out of 5

Soap again ughhh! this one smells like a soap ive smelt before & the middle notes are more present in my opinion.

  66. :

    3 out of 5

This is one of my favorite perfumes. It smells fruity and fresh. I would describe this perfume as sparkley. The second I smelled this, that is what came to mind. I love the pear and clementine. To me, they are the most dominate notes in this perfume. This is a must buy for anyone who wants to smell fresh and fun.

  67. :

    3 out of 5

Music was the 3rd perfume I got from the Harajuku Lovers series. when I smelled in ot the tester I thought it was the perfect combo of fruity & floral
Music starts with fruity freshness, then turns into more sweet floral with a hint of pear. there is something in this fragrance that makes it very recognizable…I just dont know what it is.
when I smell this scent it reminds me of summer…and also of something bad that happened when I was wearing it…too bad scents do that lol

My husband surprised me with this knowing I wanted it for Christmas! It is unique, crisp, fruity and fresh..that’s how I’d describe it. I like this and “G” the best!!

  69. :

    3 out of 5

So far Ive tried this one and Baby. I liked both, but prefer this one. It’s simple, but that’s what I like. Just pear. It reminds me of Herbal Esscence Shampoo. Not worth getting a big bottle of I think. Glad I got the samples. Good for when I want to smell nice, but not of perfume.

  70. :

    3 out of 5

I’m not sure why, but I really like this perfume. It’s fresh and crisp. I find it rather unusual, even though the composition is simple. The drydown is a bit sour, still, it doesn’t bother me. I’d love to receive Music, Love or Lil’Angel as a present.

  71. :

    5 out of 5

Music is my favorite fragrance of the moment! It is sweet, but not syrupy sweet. It is clean and fresh as well as playful, fun, and energetic.
The scent on my skin is very consistent throughout wear, from when I first spray, to when it is fading hours later.
Pear and sweet pea are definitely the prominent notes in this fragrance, but they blend together flawlessly.
This scent is for girls who are whimsical and dont like to take life too seriously.

  72. :

    3 out of 5

This fragrance smells very much like shampoo to me.
It’s not a scent that I dislike, however it’s not a particularly unique or interesting one in my humble opinion.
The scent itself is quite sweet yet fresh. I too can smell the pear and the clementine which gives this fragrance that clean, fruity shampoo type scent that I mentioned earlier.
The jasmine and the vanilla attempt to soften the scent and add some floral and feminine qualities, yet the fruity top notes never seem to mellow.
The lasting power is good yet I do become quite bored wearing this fragrance because it is so linear. So far I’d choose G as being the best fruity floral from this series.

  73. :

I love, Love of the harajuku girls, but Music is my second favorite, it does smells original, light and fresh. I don’t know what it is about this sent but it’s very addicting to smell…. it’s good…. sprits…. sprits… LOL

  74. :

    4 out of 5

I just tried on Music and it is the second perfume in this range that I have tried. I like this one better than Lil’ Angel. Beacuse while Lil’Angel is abit flat (allthought I am going to try mixing Lil’Angel with Music). I think that Music is the first “fresh”. Perfume that I have liked It opens up in an extremely aquatic and light way. It almost smells like pure raint drops. But then it starts smelling like clementine and pear. Which makes it extremely fruity and fresh. I think this is my fave out of the five so far. I think that I will wear this one combined with Lil’ Angel tomorrow.

  75. :

i don’t like this perfume at all. because i don’t like honeysuckle and sweet pea.

  76. :

It’s ok, nothing more. I smell the pear and clementine. Not much different from other fruity florals.

To lillybee: Thank you 🙂 it helps alot. Beacuse if they handed out the samples they obviousley must be selling the scent :P. Can you remember where you recived these sampels? Beacuse if they handed them out in London or Surrey I guess I could ask one of my English relatives to find a sample or two for me.

The description of this scents sounds lovley and the bottle is absolutley adorable. Plus I am a musician so how can I resist a perfume named “Music” ? :P. I would like to try this one it’s just that I have not been able to find it here in Europe. Could a kind hearted American possibilly send a sample to me? =)

Music, described as sparkling, yummy, juicy, is a delicious, sweet fragrance that brings to mind a fresh fruit salad mostly of pear, apple and orange sprinkled with sugar and served with a glass of cool lemonade, eaten in a springtime garden surronded by sweet pea and honey suckle.
Although Music is a very sweet fragrance, it is in no way sickening or over powering as it is also bursting with both freshness and juiciness that make it much more fruit-salad-sweet than cake-dessert-sweet.
On my skin, the drydown scent of Music smells like fresh, lush pears and juicy clementines laced with honey suckle and sparkling lemonade. This perfume also reminds me of the way my hair smells after being washed with fruity shampoo and conditioner, I absolutely love the smell. I spritz this perfume onto my skin and pajamas every night after having a shower as for me personally, it is not a going out scent, its a fruity-shower-fresh and clean scent.

This one definitely smells soft floral to me. I want it. I love the bottle so much!!! I love the hair style and hair jewel. And the sailor dress – that is the best part for me. Sailor-styled clothes are my favorite, but sadly I have never found any real sailor clothes for sale in my country.

Music: Delicate floral. Sparkling clementine, sweet pea + honeysuckle and creamy vanilla. –
OK, the sweet pea scent comes through, but as it wares off it smell soapy and I get the funny taste in my mouth.

I bought the solid coffret because they were so cute and I love Gwen but was so disappointed with all of them. This one in particular I thought I would like because of the honeysuckle, but it smells like pear calgon (blegh!) to me. The others aren’t as offensive, they’re just not anything I would wear. I agree with the previous reviewer that these scents would be great for young girls since they smell like single note body sprays.

I just got this today and I really like it. A good buy for a daughter that is younger 10-15 and wanting to wear perfume for the 1st time. The bottle is so cute (I got the mini.) It’s a fun scent~~~not for your wedding day or anything but just a fun day with friends, going shopping etc. I like it!

Something about this one after sampling it in the store, makes me keep smelling my wrist. Definitely one of the better choices in this grouping, along with Love. The others are quite juvenile offering one overt single note. More than anything it’s a fun collectors bottle.
