Description

Designer duo Dsquared² introduces its new fragrance called Wild, which will be released in September 2014. The new masculine fragrance symbolizes freedom, speed and pride, presented by photographs of wild stallion and model Silvester Ruck, signed by Steven Klein.

“It’s a raw roll in the hay — the whole idea is to be a bit raw. Even the bottle is kind of harnessed”, said Dan Caten to wwd.

The woody – earthy fragrance is created by Daphne Bugey and Annick Menardo. The composition contains santolina, st. John’s wort, resin accord, cypress, neo-labdanum, opoponax, vegetable amber and humus accord.

The bottle is decorated with black straps which are slapped firmly around it, topped with a simple black cap. The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette with after shave lotion spray, hair and body wash and natural spray deodorant.

I don’t like top notes of this fragrance, but in the drydown this is exact copy of Penhalogon’s Juniper Sling, so don’t pay more – go with Wild!

If Disquared2 welcomes me with such a masterpiece, this could be the beginning of a long friendship, indeed, of a lasting LOVE! Gentlemen, here we are on niche levels even though Dsquared2 is a commercial brand. Balsamic and green opening with an imposing and superb cypress that gradually calms down to give life to more raw and primitive hints. Here, the earthy notes together with the Santolina and the Wort form a mystical dance through the nostrils. Resinous and amber notes lead us to the chemistry of what was, of a planet devoid of humanity, of a planet where nature hides, still evolving, revealing the best of itself. Ready to go back in time? Ready to go back to the origins of creation? WILD is the perfect portal!

I bought a 5ml sample as the notes were interesting and reviews seemed highly mixed. Now I have been wearing this for the past 4 days and have to admit that all I can detect is very faint citrus and mostly what iso e super does with my skin chemistry. Luckily, I ran out of my Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 and this is so close to that fragrance on my skin that it’s hard to tell the difference.
It does seem to project more when your body is heating up and fall time might not bring out all of it’s best qualities. That being said I think I have to edit my review later with an opinion on how it performs in the springtime or summer heat. At the moment it is very close to skin. No scent trail while moving arms and it definetly does not pierce through your sleeves like some of the monster performers out there. But it is something nice for those who get very close to you.
Somehow iso e super is something that I detect easily and luckily I like it a lot. It does not annoy those around you and you can spray it quite liberally even for office environment. It is not a ‘wild’ wild fragrance, but enough different from most of the common scents on the shelves that you could imagine someone picking this up being wild enough to try something bit different.

Only Iso and Super…hyper hyper diluted. There is not a single drop of another note inside! Iso and Super for those who know it’s the basis of every perfume or hygiene products for home and person for its delicate scent that smell about “clean” and therefore doesn’t disturb the nose. So, the point is not whether it’s good or fantastic or terrible. Dash or Bolt is good when you wash clothes in wash machine. If you like it, don’t waste your money on this or your older brother Escentric 01 Molecules. Buy Iso and Super a few dollars on the web where you find chemists who sell it exactly at its price.

This is actually a really good one – I detect citruses but I don’t see them listed. They are lasting surprisingly long. Otherwise a fresh, clean, earthy, tiny bit herbal but not in any way offensive, rather like a clean fresh iced tea. Overall it’s good! Leans towards masculine, and isn’t really what I would describe as balsamic. But a decent citrus style mild earthy herbal that is not too dry.

Wild synthetic I could say. It is a soapy-herbal-fresh scent suitable for your daily office routine. It wont offend anybody. Because of its subtle and clean smell it also could be convenient in medical environment like hospitals or pharmacy-stores.

Baffling: People expect from a campaign and a fragrance name that essential oils and aroma chemicals in an alcohol solution will make them “sexy”.
The “sexy” is in you, not in the bottle.
I interpret “Wild” as I believe it was meant to be interpreted, finding the “wild” in the natural – the scent seems to be about the wearer IN a place – a wild place, maybe a barn.
As for the scent. I sprayed one on my wrist in a shop and I was getting a whiff as I moved throughout the day, until after my second shower after a gym session. It was amazing. No, it is not generic – having citrus and Iso E alone does not make it generic. It lacks a lot of the “fragrance-y” vibe a lot of men’s fragrances have and instead smells as if my own natural skin-scent (good, not bad – the natural nice body smell some people effuse) had been infused with a few aroma chemicals beneath my pores.
It may be the scent I was always looking for – just that in my last sentence.
And no, it is not loud, it’s not flamboyant, it’s not a Gianni Versace mid-90s silk shirt.
It does not make me smell good, it makes ME smell good. It enhances me.
You will be noticed in close proximity. You will not be the obnoxious person that always smells so good but overdoes it.
And I’m getting a whiff of it all day with even just a spray. I used it in the Sauna and last night, a pretty amazing experience, recommended – you really get the feel of it.
Again, though – sexy is not contained in a bottle, stop expecting a fragrance alone to make people around you horny.

It shows itself and opens up only when your body’s heated up, and works perfectly in high humidity and hot air, reminds me a little of Molecule 01 and Lalique Encre Noir Sport, with a hint of Lacoste Pour Femme (yes, the women’s one), but has its own face and personality. Very natural smelling in base, nothing chemical or synthetic at all. My #1 choice for hot and merciless summer.

    Chrome?
    Nope.
This is a body chemistry-mixing scent. Go ahead and overspray, but not too much. Others will smell it. Perfect for fall, perfect for every season.
It becomes really sexy in the drydown. Start is sunny fresh hay.

can you tell me if it smells a bit of Creed Royal Oud?

    Intoxicating.
I think its the most proper word to describe this fragrance..
Mind blowing? No, but somehow i like it a lot..
Its so comforting and clean at the same time..
And ladies love it. I get lot of compliments when im wearing this..
Performance is ok i guess, a bit below average, but it still lingers there after few hours with a projection closer to skin..
    7,5/10

Just perfect. Intoxicating ,refreshing and a little bit spicy. Not wild at all but who wants to wear a heavy masculine scent today? I asked my husband to buy it and now I m so happy to smell it all the time.

I like very much Wild, a mainstream scent, yes, but not so common, it’s very inoffensive, a fresh/green fragrance, a passpartout for every occasion, for all days and for all the year.
But today i’ve discovered the strong similarity with a niche scent, ‘Juniper sling’, by Penhaligon’s…………i was in a departement store and i sprayed JS on my skin, really good, but in the development of this fragrance i’ve noticed a strong similarity with Wild, that could be the really cheaper clone of JS; the next time i’ll spray the two fragrance on the blotters to smell similarities and differences.
However Wild is a good fragrance to try, different from all the others mainstream.

I found the reviews in here about Wild are unfair , i gave a try and i found it amazing , i do believe in taste related to culture , this perfume will be appreciated by Mediterranean people , it has the citrusy vibes , the sunny touch and the fresh nature meanwhile non are in the formula
It is cologne rather than eau de toilette , with better performance and touch of modernity
I consider it a bother for Cologne by Thierry Mugler
When i use it , i feel it around for long time and i get noticed by close people .
    I love this perfume really

First of all, i do agree with many that the name is kinda wrong..
    it’s not wild at all.
but, that doesn’t mean that this fragrance’s is not good..
in fact i think this one smells so alluring, not ground breaking or challenging, but somehow refreshing..
it’s suitable for your daily use, but it’s not in the same genre with your daily citrusy type of fragrances..
it has a little bit sharpness but soft at the same time if that makes any sense.. i detect some kind of a sharp powdery in the background..
    should give it a try..

Wild deserves much higher than the current 2.8 rating.
Yeah, it’s different, but that’s what I really like about it.
I guess they could have called it “Natural” but lets face it, “Wild” is a sexier marketing approach.
Longevity is not great, but I love the all-natural, fresh woodsy scent of Wild. Though not mentioned, I detect lavender… perhaps it’s the Cypress? Anyway, uncommon notes and mostly masculine with a pleasant dry down. Deserves I think at least a 4 rating. Bottom line is you’re going to smell great and not like a million other blokes.

Wild, hm? Maybe as wild as Bambi. Very light, soft, kind of powdery fresh with a little citrus. Great for everyday office wear but hardly harness worthy. Still, not a bad fragrance as it’s not completely generic or a wasted experience; just guilty of false advertisement maybe.

I really love this perfume on my husband. It`s really long lasting fragrance. But it’s not wild, it`is comforting.

Fantastic news for lovers of the molecule Iso and Super , so unique but so flat , it costs less than half because it carries the name of the wizard Geza !

Smells like Bvlgari Pour homme but this one is weaker version

  22. :

    3 out of 5

The name is so, so wrong, but it’s really quite pleasant. Very similar to Escentric Molecule, in that it has that Iso E Super smell. Surprised at the comments on longevity, as it lasts forever in me, especially on clothing. Unexciting, but very nice, fresh and wearable.

This awkward moment when you expect something “wild” like a hurricane and get just an air biscuit.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

    Too boring.
    The notes declared, totally deceiving.
It is a harmless, fresh fragrance that has absolutely nothing worth emphasizing and yes, in the same way that D&G light blue.
    Longevity and sillage, too weak.
    “Wild” ?? Better “Meeeh!!!”

This is a fantastic SPRING fragrance. Floral/woody without the generic cinnamon/cardamon/vanilla notes we all tired of. Think flowers, open fields, sunny and hazy relaxing day. This should of been released around this time of the year and not before winter!

Ohh, on the paper strip is very yummy and smells like another scents, maybe Molecule 01, Escentric 01 with Dior homme sport:) Simplistically it smells like paper with citrus. Love at first sniff!
The wild name is funny, because isn’t as wild, “just” fresh, unisex and sexy.
I bought the Wild gift set and I don’t understand that the sillage/lasting why does not as good as the shop’s tester bottle:(

  28. :

Pleasant but not wild at all. Unisex (as Potion for men, that’s a great and complex scent. The name of this fragrance is inappropriate.

A comliment getter. High quality fresh incense fragrance with a good longevity. The best out of Dsquared2 line. Smells somewhat as a mix of Loewe 7 and Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme with addition of vetiver.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

Dsquared2 Wild is a more elegant and sophisticated, incense-y version of Versace Man Eau Fraiche / Azzaro Chrome Sport. I would describe it as woody aquatic. It starts off with a whisper of fresh incense (similar to that in Loewe 7), then becoming citrusy in a sour way with a hint of earthy vetiver. The combination if citruses reminds of that in Versace Man Eau Fraiche and especially in Azzaro Chrome Sport, though Dsquared2 Wild is more mature due to vetiver and more prominent woody herbal twist in the base. The quality of the fragrance is high, but the longevity and sillage are not that good, unfortunately. However I incline to like it than not to like.

I love this one but it’s gone in a minute…I need to stick my nose to my wrist to be able to catch the tinyest wiff…what a pity. I’ve got the same problem with the whole Dsquared range…and I like most of them!

    I find it unisex

I’ve never been a fan of the Caten’s twins aesthetic when it comes to their collections of clothes but, admittedly, their range of fragrances is not amongst the worsts in the current designers’ panorama targeted at younger crowds. *Wild* came with the promise of freedom, pride and speed while the ad campaign showed a beefy male model together with a stallion in a, hrm, not so hidden sexual reference. Oh well, a lot to live-up to here…
The fragrance opens with an almost old-fashioned green / herbal aromatic blast. The accord would be pretty interesting if they didn’t try to modernize it with the unmistakeable sharpness which is typical of department store masculines but, fortunately, the fragrance settles down pretty soon into a woody-incensey thing which is not *that* distant from Escentric Molecules type of stuff. Now, nothing really exciting here but at least it skips the usual sticky and exhausting sweet-woodiness of most current fragrances targeted to men.
    Inoffensive.

DSQUARED2 Wild is a very nice and elegant scent and I like it a lot! But to my nose it is VERY similar to Iceberg – Eau de Iceberg Pour Homme/the first one from “74” line/. They have common fresh-citrusy-musky feeling and you may say that pyramids are different, but to me they are sharing quite the same aroma…
Both are great, but Eau de Iceberg Pour Homme is more powerful and the cheaper one at the same time 🙂
DSQUARED2 Wild is a great fresh and smart scent, an excellent choice for work or daytime when you want something light and classy at the same time.

Light and refreshing herbal aromatic EDT (Santolina, St John`s wort, cypress) with a earthier heart of resins and an ambery drydown of hummus.
Perfect for the Gym either before or after and for bed time after a hot shower.
    Not very good longevity…
    Medium Thumbs!

  38. :

    3 out of 5

“Wild” according to Dsquared translates to a very light, shamefully fleeting lemony cologne.
Nothing kinky or remotely sexual. The list of notes is a joke – or a fiction if you prefer. For all the allegedly rare and original ingredients, the result is at best a lukewarm concoction. Summarises what is wrong and disappointing about contemporary releases, lots of hype that delivers nothing. A balanced citrusy opening that jumps to a generic woody drydown, barely perceptible, very similar to every title from the “wood” series and same as in a million other citrus woody blends. Nothing offensive or distinctive, no risks taken except for the provocative ad. I challenge whoever smelled St. John’s wort and soil tincture in this to pm me!
Guess all the effort went into presentation and advertisement -which are excellent indeed- and so this unfinished and structure-less product ended up on the shelves. Another tragic story about a little project that could… but didn’t.
PS: In the drydown I get occasional whiffs of the same aroma chemical that Escentric Molecule 01 consists of.

Invigorating, deep and exciting. A herbal blast of St. John’s Wort. Followed by a deep earthy smell. And then … an impressive mix of amber and resins. Sprayed the tester once and it didn’t stay on my skin for long … still i was intrigued and took a bottle home … showered … and then sprayed again twice … the scent radiated from my body like crazy … to me it was a deep, calming aroma that i could somehow smell on and off … to others it was strong and intoxicating … a great way to smell … amazing scent!

  41. :

Delightfully trashy yet somehow inviting.a nice ,extra generic smell which reminds me of an Issey Miyake version-I think it was called blue de Issey, with a bit of HEwood etc.there’s nothing neither wild nor different, or sexual about this. Its plain ,pedestrian, common stuff.boring ,been there ,smelled that, hundred times before.even the bottle in person looks cheap.Big pass by me.

Why do people think that it’s impossible to try a fragrance before the actual release? Thierry Mugler for example sent out samples of Pure Wood before the release, and those were ordinary people. Not even talking about journalists, people who work at DSQUARED and everybody, who can easily access the fragrance.
