I ordered samples of this fragrance after hearing good things about it from a friend. I tried 2 vials over a week period. It does smell great. Smoke and vanilla in a good way. One huge problem: I cannot get this to last on my skin beyond an hour! Yes that short! After an hour it’s not there! No one can smell it on me and I cannot smell it myself! Absolutely not practical. So I called the company to ask if I was doing something wrong and they said this is the way it is supposed to be because it is a natural product! I do not know if I buy that! This is just not practical at all. I cannot keep applying every 2 hours. Impossible. And no it is not my skin. I get the same longevity and projection as people report from other brands.
This happens to be the case with most fragrances from this house. I ordered 4 different fragrances.

I see that this is very unpopular as the last review was over 3 years ago. I got a sample free along with a purchase many months ago. I must confess that after looking at the pyramid that it seems right up my alley. Great opening with nothing more than a vanilla, sandalwood and light leather dry down. It’s short lived at about 3 or 4 hours with very soft sillage. Maybe it would work better in the Spring when temps are warmer but this fails as a cold weather scent.

It smells exactly like a dentist office to me! It’s crazy how powerful and stunning this fragrance is, but at the same time, it makes the buccal area of my face go numb because the association between this scent and Novocain. It’s totally interesting, and the notes are wonderful together.
But I simply cannot wear this. It just doesn’t work on me at all.

First off, I must give props where props are due. I’ve smelled close to 1,000 different scents and Vanillaville has one of the finest openings in that set. If Ms. Zorn could figure out how to hold that for the duration, she’d be worshipped as a goddess! Leather. Tobacco. Vanilla. And not the prissy stuff – the meaty, raw, forceful, smackdown stuff! Unfortunately, at least on me, within a few minutes the scent breaks down to an “old leather” with some sandalwood. It’s nice, and I’m sure I’ll wear my decant again at some point, but I don’t see a flacon in my future.
