“Traditionally, Ruh Khus is an attar distilled from wild vetiver, the roots of a fragrant grass that brings a cooling and beautiful tranquility during very hot and humid weather. Frequently woven into screens, or thatched into mats that are sprayed with cool water during humid hot weather, the water evaporates in the heat and the fragrance is released, imparting an earthy, cool calmness. Ruh Khus eau de parfum is my tribute to the cool green jewel, and is the happy result of a long journey of experimentation. It has taken me several years to strike the right balance of elements that highlight the cooling joy of Khus with the fresh floral respite of roses, jasmine, iris, sandalwood and the tart freshness of galbanum, bergamot and petitgrain.” – a note from the brand.

I would do more justice describing so beautiful Ruh Khus with a soft squirrel brush and delicate watercolour washes than with words. As a painting, Ruh Khus is a light-filled dreamscape capturing glimpses of early morning sparkling water between tall backlit reeds and fragrant flowers. It’s a symphony of transparent vegetal greens, whispers of lemon and moist cool umber. These showcase little blooms of cobalt blue. It matters not whether they are irises or hyacinths; they’re heavenly. With the wearing and a change of the breeze arrive new hints of floral surprises. The delight of Ruh Khus is that it is a seamlessly dreamy and calm place I don’t wish to leave. Earth, sky, water, grasses, flowers and wind. As one.
