Caron’s Rose is rich dark rose that makes me think of luxurious burgundy velvet. It has the same sense of mystery evoked by Caron’s Parfum Sacre, but this rose is made much deeper with peppery notes of clove and carnation. This is not the soft, innocent, literal rose of Perfumer’s Workshop’s Tea Rose, this is a smoky, boozy, poisonous rose, fit for a femme fatale with kohl-rimmed eyes, wearing a flowing opera coat in that aforementioned burgundy velvet.
