I absolutely adore this, though marketed as a men’s scent, I would certainly think it leans more unisex – along with other Penhaligon’s fragrances such as blasted heath and blenheim bouquet.
Opens with a very clear blast of lavender and citrus, but soon settles into the skin and the drydown is creamy, soft and a little bit sweet. The vetiver in the base is certainly noticeable but not harsh; rather, reminiscent of the vetiver note in Diptyque’s vetyverio.
The cardamom lingers, spicy and a little bit savoury. Personally, I can’t pick up too much on the rose or lily, but I like it that way! It’s like the South of France in a bottle, an absolutely perfect summer scent

Picked this up at a Penhaligon’s sale (yes, they do go on sale, albeit rarely!) for 50% off. That’s still around USD 75 for 100 ml, so not exactly cheap.
The box promises “a contemporary celebration of lavender in all its bracing charm”, which I think is quite accurate. Unusually for an EDC, the citrus takes a back seat here, being prominent only in the open. The focus is on the lavender, and the clary sage gives it an earthy feel which develops in the open and sustains through the drydown. There’s a hint of spiciness from the cardamom and pepper as well.
While it smells great on the skin, longevity is definitely an issue. I get an average of an hour, and this is a skin scent on me. Not sure if it’s worth the price, given the lackluster performance.
I’ve only tried this during the day, but I feel it might work better at night, since it’s a more earthy EDC.

I got this in a package of Penhaligon samplers from shoplondons. Given the name I was expecting a 4711 ish type of eau de cologne, so was quite surprised by the scent. The opening to me is quite ‘celeryish’ or pencil shavings. I have to think that is the coriander, with perhaps the sage and pepper playing minor roles (interestingly, coriander is not listed in the fragrance pyramid although it is listed in the introductory text). I frankly don’t smell a lot of lavender or anything I would describe as floral.
The other fragrance that I have tried recently that also seemed to have a pencil shavings accord is Escentric 01, so I tried them side by side on the back of either hand. 33 is stronger, darker and more celery leaf than is 01, which is lighter and more pencil shavings than celery. Both quite nice in their own way.
For 33, the dry down is quick and the celery backs off a fair amount and the amber seems to come in noticeably. All in all, this is a nice masculine fragrance – for me, would be one that I would use to break up the routine, not a daily driver. As with a lot of Penhaligon’s fragrances, might be best to think of it as a great after shave than an all day fragrance since sillage is modest. Longevity as a skin scent is about 4 hours for me.

Nice opening, but the scent has very poor silage, 20 minutes in and I am in office. Had to sniff my arm to make sure I had worn a cologne. Would not recommend, considering the price.
On the 3rd application, the glass tip of the cap broke off and got stuck in the bottle.
I need to check utube, how to get it out and save my 30 quid.
Quality control on the bottles is shoddy, my wife had the same experience with one of the coffrets, in the ladies miniature set. Total writeoff .. beware.

Decent scent. At times I wear this at the office because 33 is pretty faint. Probably won’t repurchase. Too much money for so little scent. 5/10

This is a pleasant, if not entirely memorable scent. It starts out with a sweet burst of citrus and some florals in the background. The florals, woods, and spices come out more over time, although I had a hard time picking out individual notes. Drydown has more woods, vanilla, and amber. Not an overpowering scent but definitely not weak when you get up close. I’ve been wearing it for several hours and it is still noticeable up close.

I received this as a sample after ordering a few fragrances and after spritzing my wrists, I (still) can’t stop smelling. When I smell this, I definitely think “tall, dark and confident”. Not a scent I would enjoy in the daytime, but for evenings and night it is wonderful. It doesn’t bellow outwards, but rather wafts off your skin gently. This is a scent that will draw people in softly, but when they are close it’s boldness will be quite evident. Powerful, but not overwhelming. I wouldn’t say this is a unique scent, but it smells luxurious and as a female I would quite enjoy smelling this on a man.

This review is written as I am wearing it for the 1st time. It smells great on the skin and comes across very soft. I would advise washing with a lavender or slightly citrus based wash. In my mind it comes across as s scnet that stays close to the skin. Extremely soft creation. It is similar in that sense to Endymion but does not have such a creamy coffee like smell. As a cologne I would advise applying liberally. The softness of this scent is highly appealing. I believe it would be complimented with Lavandula to give it a more intense lavender scent. This is not the type of scent that will knock someone over with its power. It is highly subtle which is the charm of many of Penhaligon’s scent’s. An easy to wear fragrance.
