Description

Prada introduced its fine and exclusive collection Olfactories in 2015, which at that time consisted of ten perfumes. In 2017, Prada launches a sub collection of this line, inspired by the Orient and called Prada Mirages, with four new luxury editions: Dark Light, Soleil au Zenith, Miracle of the Rose and Midnight Train.

Mirages Miracle of the Rose (Rose Oud) interprets the always trending scent of roses, using rose absolute in combination with powerful accords of patchouli, leather, oud and tobacco.

The fragrances are available as 100 ml Eaux de Parfum.

It is often said that it is much more difficult to compose a minimalist in its ingredients because of the challenges of hitting a composition with few elements. However, the fact is that it’s also hard doing a rich and detailed composition that its layers do not over run each other enabling the creation of a beautiful symphony. And it surprises me that the perfumer Daniela Andrier who is known for her minimalist style of composition proves to be much more successful and relevant when working in Orientals rich and full of ornaments for the Mirages segment of the Prada Olfactories collection.
Like Soleil au Zenith, Miracle of The Rose already shows its Baroque intentions within a theme that has recently become used and abused in the perfumery, perfumes with oud and rose. The perfume proposes an architectural aura, made up of layers, a labyrinth of aromas where each room has its scent. Again, it could be a mess of potent aromas but it is a striking and elaborate harmony that makes an ode to the Oriental family as a whole, not falling into the ordinary place of just exposing the agarwood and the rose.
The miracle indeed is that the rose is not lost accompanied by striking protagonists such as leather, agarwood, patchouli, amber, myrrh and spices. It helps that the chosen favors a more licorous rose, with nuances of honey, fruit and tobacco. A highlight in the composition is the use of saffron, which does not sound like a mere protagonist of rose and agarwood and that proves to be rich with the leathery scent and the golden, shiny, aldehyde nuance that natural saffron possesses.
Agarwood is worked here on two levels, one more amber and sweet and another more animalic, and as the richness of the base notes is well worked the aroma of agarwood here does not sound like more of the same, but rather an important element in a bigger orchestra. Sometimes a more resinous, warm and incense scent of myrrh stands out more than it, giving a more spiritual aura to the composition. At other times, a subtle animalic aroma that mimics castoreum impels the more dirtier aspect of the agarwood. And at other times the more woody, camphorated and even clean patchouli aroma sustains the agarwood in the composition.
Generally I do not usually mention aspects of performance in a perfume, but this is an exception worth mentioning: it is a powerful, striking perfume that does not go unnoticed. People notice your presence in the environment and even compliment it, It is an inspired work of Daniela Andrier and one of the best if not the best Prada exclusive perfume at this moment.

An oud rose combo created by Daniela Andrier. The beautifull tobacco note mixed with a velvet patchouli transforms the trivial scent into a prada perfume. Very chic!

I got a sample of this and wore it a little. This is a striking fragrance. The rose, the out and the patchouli make for a strong opening concoction that is striking and intriguing. After a little wile, the leather and tabaco assert themselves, perhaps overpowering the rose too much for my taste.

    PRADA Olfactories
    Miracle of the Rose
    Exclusive to Selfridges in London.
    First impression.
I applied 2 sprays last night because I just couldn’t wait. The fragrance opens mostly with leather on me, and a very well behaved Oud, no barnyard, but maybe a tad sour. That could be some fruit? I don’t see any in the notes though but that means nothing. *I fell asleep so I can’t speak about the evolution of the scent*
This morning I woke up to a yummy, jammy rose. Almost plummy? And underneath that rose I smell some of that Oud now too. A little sour, a little smoky, quite classy.
Miracle is very nice. It’s not as strong or overpowering as I may have expected (or wanted, being an oud-ho and all), but then again it’s a western Oud, it’s by nose Daniela Andrier for Prada, not an Arab house.
All in all it’s a beautiful take on the Oud Rose combo, it’s not the in your face slam bam Oud and rose of which there are thirteen a dozen these days. It is different from all the others (countless) in this genre that I have so in that aspect alone already it’s a winner. I’ve had it on my skin for over 12 hours now and I can still smell it. I’m going to spray some more now.

Perfume created by Daniela Andrier. I love many of her creations. I wonder if this one will be lightweight and sheer, or rich and deep like Gucci EDP that she also composed.
    Looking forward to the reviews.
