Description

The new fragrance from the Italian fashion house Gianfranco Ferré, Gianfranco Ferré L’Uomo, comes out in September 2016. Announced as simple and elegant, strong and refined, the scent aims at the perfect gentleman. It is dedicated to the men’s fashion collections of the house, first introduced in 1982 and often inspired by uniforms.

The composition is announced as a fresh oriental, developed by perfumer Nicolas Beaulieu. It opens with sharp and spicy notes of bergamot, ginger, cardamom and black pepper. The heart provides long-lasting freshness with violet, artemisia, sage and green apple. The base consists of extracts of sandalwood, Spanish cedar, moss, amber and vanilla.

Matthew Zorpas, a Greek blogger who lives in London, is selected to represent the fragrance. The fragrance is available as a 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Got it as a blind buy, tested it for 3 days..
The smell is WOW! It’s a woodier version of YSL L’Homme. There is a gingery-violet vibe in the opening that turns into a spicy-sandalwood smell. I love this!!
However, this is one of my worst performers.. Longevity is 4-6 hours on my skin and the projection is soft, maybe moderate in the opening. The upside is that you can’t overspray this one.
I would say it’s a great date fragrance: soft-spicy-woody and slightly floral.

I have to agree with simpa256, this scent is a beast! The top notes of bergamot, ginger, cardamom, and black pepper gives this fragrance a punch in the gut. I’ve worn it during the summer nights, but I think it’s better suited for the fall and winter. A modern and manly fragrance for the mature gentleman.

This is awesome. Sometimes it’s like the well known scent – first instinct- but more mature, more gentleman”ish” for me. Maybe it’s just the skin feelin’. I like it. Another best scent for me – with trussardi riflesso.

This has a beastly performance and silage. The best way to describe this would be, a cross between The One and Invictus. When you first spray The One EDP, that first fruity balsamic sweetness… this is it. Just without the tobacco but the same smooth and sweet balsamic smell. What I mean by balsamic is that it’s not punching you in the head, not harsh but ultra smooth. And it projects, oooo yes. It fills up any room you come in and it keeps filling it for 2 hours. It projects for 4 hours minimum, and even more if there is a breeze of wind. Lasts 12+ hours easily, even after in can be felt quite good, not even smelling directly off the skin but few inches away. Sticks to you like a glue.
It has a hint of that Invictus sweetness but not too much. So, a fruity aspect of The One EDP opening and a bit of Invictus sweet. It is pretty much like that all the way, very lineral, from the first spray to the dry down. The same sweet, non offensive, not in your face frag that projects and lasts. Could work in any season, any occasion. Simple mass pleaser. If you like especially The One EDP, Invictus, Bvlgari Atlantiqve, Sauvage… frags like that, you will love this.
Every woman I’ve asked said only that this frag is sooo freaking good, but when they smelled it closely, all said… it’s just way too strong. That is a good thing, meaning it will last and you won’t have to reapply. Woody and sweet and a bit fresh. I mostly get from this is vanilla, woody and that amber. Citrus notes aren’t that noticeable.
Note: After more testing this is very very close to AF First Instinct.

Confident and sexy, cold and clean, intense and elegant with a retro chic touch, reference to the legendary 80’s and the great masculine perfumes of that time. However the final result of a beautiful and well balanced composition is very contemporary. The design of the bottle is quite interesting, too.
Longevity and sillage are really good. 7/10
