Description

The series of season fragrances Les Saisons was launched in 2004. Every perfume from the series is dedicated to a certain season of the year: the symbol of the series is a tree that changes, but stays the same. Automne is the scent of the fall; the scent of yellow leafs and moist branches; the scent of a golden autumn forest. Woody fragrance with mild spicy and floral notes warms you like a wool scarf. The composition opens with fresh notes of Italian lemon, black currant and red berries, developing into the heart of white sandalwood, lily and almond. The base is filled with heliotrope, cedar wood and musk. It was created by Francis Kurkdjian.

Just received today,I smell the warmth and spices for sure, but I’m also smelling some gasoline/fuel smell…Is this what others are mentioning as boozy perhaps? Not sure what note this would be, will have to study them on this sitE. I’m also thinking it has more alcohol that actual ingredients, causing poor longevity. Overall I like the scent enough, but not long lasting enough to warrant the price.

I get primarily pillowy heliotrope, cedar, and some cool abstract babies breath florality and a soft hint of something sterile like plastic wrap (only a hint) and finally the gentlest of rounded abstract spices way in the distance. This is a clean woody musk with a sheer powdery facet with an almost salty soapiness, like frosted glass. I love this velvety woody crystal musk. It is at once cool, sensual, and aloof. It does indeed evoke the feeling of crisp air, and little else. I love it. Thanks to 2746cstreet for my decant.

Les Saisons Automne is a nice balance of creamy notes (lily, heliotrope, almond, sandalwood) and crisp, dry notes (lemon, cedar, spices, tart berries).
On my skin, the most dominant notes are cedar and lily. Followed by heliotrope and sandalwood. It makes for an interesting, woody and rather unisex fragrance. I had actually been looking for a new lily that was neither too green nor too sweet. I hadn’t expected to find it in Les Saisons Automne, but I believe that may just be the case.
The spices I can’t really place. I’m not picking up cinnamon. Perhaps cloves? Maybe allspice and pepper? It smells somewhat clove-y but more complex. Definitely spices on the dry, non-sweet/non-gourmand side.

I love the scent, but something in it doesn’t like me, it gets in my throat & makes me feel funny 🙁 so I have a bottle up for swap or purchase

Autumn is my favorite season, henceforth, it is only fitting that the Automne fragrance is my favorite in the range of Van Cleef’s Saisons. It is predominantly woody and musky and I can also detect an aniseed aroma, or perhaps licorice? It’s ambery sweetness is a winner for me. There’s also something very boozy in there as well (rum, port?). It’s probably the berries. In fact, all of the Saisons smell boozy! I’d love it to be a little more potent. I could envision myself rolling around on a carpet of autumn leaves smelling this fragrance and savoring the orangey appeal of all that is autumm! I find it sophisticated and gorgeous!

I like the fragrance, it’s powdery, feminine, memorable. Actually it fits both autumn and the end of summer. It’s just like autumn is: a bit dreamy, full of past memories, pensive.
I can detect white flowers and almonds with a touch of spices the most. The bottle looks nice. Lasting power is good. All in all, it’s worth trying.

quite unique, not very strong but even when I didn’t feel it on me I got compliments 🙂 so I think it is very subtle It is good not only for autumn

On my skin it’s an exclusively woody spicy frangrance. Nothing more emerges, neither lily nor the berries. It’s almost masculine, sharp, choking if I don’t apply carefully (walk through the mist). I can only wear it in early autumn and on cold summer days with masculine outfits.
I was considering giving it away but couldn’t, it has some perverse appeal 🙂

This is a nice scent which is not too anything- mildly spicy/floral/fresh. The main note I get at the start is the bergamot/citrus and then it develops into a slightly woodsy warm floral, with a dry touch, It’s nice but I won’t buy a FB.

I see this as a summer scent, like purple pixie mentioned. On me this scent is very clean and fresh. Its quite dry and powdery. I dont get the musk or the woody notes, I get mosty lily. Reminds me of a scent to wear when you dont want to smell perfumey but fresh and clean. Like on a very hot summer day and your on an outing. The smell reminds me of when I clean my bed sheets and then let them dry in the sun. All the essences of natures air is saturated in those sheets.

thanks to jillzilla for the sample.its right up my alley.the berries, woody nuances the spice, the creamy almond, its all good things rolled into one.i bask in the aroma of fall.golden leaves,a slight chill in the air, halloween pumpkins and thanksgiving.its more like purchasing an experience than a fume.it only gets better as it mellows down into a cool fall star filled night sky.

Thank you so much nathalieZ for answering my PM and providing me with very helpful feedback on this scent before I bought it blind! Thanks to you, I was able to confidently purchase this unsniffed.
Once on my skin, this fragrance reminded me of something I have smelled before…YSL – Elle! Apparently, red berries, white flowers, and woody notes produce a very recognizable scent on me.
At first, I got mostly spices and woody notes. It was quite dry, yet still feminine. As the fragrance warmed up, I got a subtle soapy note (which I like), and as the base notes appeared, the lily note fully blossomed. The spices tame the lily so that it’s not too floral for me, but it’s still a little sharp, like Elle is. Overall, it’s a slightly spicy, predominantly woody, floral-woody-musk.
I LIKE IT! I can’t wait to try it in cold weather.

It’s more woody than floral, so nice, warm, comfortable and a bit sad, that’s why perfect for autumn(perfectly matches the name). The lasting power is just OK, it covers you with different and soft waves every 2 hours. It seems like it’s disappeared, but then again rises as if it tells you “I’m here, I’m still with you;)”. The frag is very well balanced and good for every day wearing. The only thing I don’t like is the bottle, looks cheap doesn’t go with the liquid inside:)

It’s probably the best one of Van Cleef’s seasons. They’re all pleasant and light, but this one has better composition. At first it smells fresh but after a while I feel some gentle flowers surrounded by something sweet-almond and musk I guess. For me it’s more like a summer fragrance than an autumn one.
