I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this, as Pierre Bourdon’s masterful creations are consistently among my favorite scents — specifically Davidoff Good Life, F. Malle Bois D’Orage (French Lover), Cool Water, Creed Green Irish Tweed… the list goes on…
The listed notes for this are all right on the mark for my taste as well — alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
The opening hits the spot with a grassy melon blast that is very reminiscent of Good Life, and settles into a mild and rather lackluster fresh green tea-ish note. After about 30 mins, some fait muskiness and tonka kicks in from the background, giving it a bit of a masculine appeal… but that was all she wrote. At that 30 minute mark, this leaves a trace of a skin scent on me with barely anything to it at all. So faint that I can barely make out if the scent WOULD be appealing even if it were a bit stronger.
I’m really hoping there was just a problem with the sample vial that I received, and that this is actually much stronger. At $130+ for a FB and scantly a seller that carries this sucker, I’m not taking my chances.
EDIT: Sprung for a FB. There’s something chalky and almost animalic about this. Definitely very masculine in a light way. Still not sure if I like this, but I keep wearing it for some reason…
