Description
The power of elegance. Almost magical because you know exactly what you are doing…
head: explosive prelude of modern, green-fruity components. Orange flower, black currant, peach, green leaves, bergamot.
heart: romantic flower bouquet with an exotic touch. Rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, iris, tuberose, ylang.
base: slight animal note with an elegant wood base as the finale. vanilla, cedar wood, sandalwood, musk.
Henning Biehl blends contrasts into a fabulous unity. The components of his fragrances do not encounter each other, so to speak, they embark on a liaison – natural chords combining with fantasy components, hence achieving an unmistakably feminine, prestigious, elegant effect.
This graduate chemist commenced his career as a perfumer in 1958, his years with the Schimmel company in Hamburg being followed by the post with H&R in Holzminden. Several longer sojourns abroad ensued from the mid-seventies, in Cannes, Paris, New York, Tokyo and London. Since 1991, Henning Biehl has lived and worked in New York.
Harmony is the theme of the perfumes he has created. The quest for this is also reflected in his private preferences, with Classical music being this flautist’s greatest passion. Apart from music, he derives his main inspiration from the elaborate garden of rare flowers and plants he has created.
For his son Thorsten, Henning Biehl created one perfume in the biehl. parfumkunstwerke gallery: magical, elegant hb01.
hb01 was launched in 2007.

Usually when I see a perfume with many different flowers listed in notes I await one of the two things – that only one of the flowers will shine trough or it will become a mess.
Unfortunately “Hb01” is the second case. For the first 3 hours this was extremely messy, I couldn’t understand what I was smelling, it was sweet, all over the place, heady and not pleasant at all. When “Hb01” calms down, I was pleased to find something a bit more wearable – there was tuberose, there was peach and then there was rose – all that in a bit of sour mix, but pleasant nevertheless. “Hb01” dries down to a musky peach/rose which I found a tiny bit boring.
As this is marketed as “unisex” I will also add that there is nothing unisex in my opinion, I could even say that this is a bit TOO FEMININE, imagine a grown up lady all dressed in short bright pink skirts, ultra high heels – you know, trying too much, this is what personality wise “hb01” feels to me.
Staying power around 5 hours, projected heavy at the beginning, but in the musk-peach phase stayed very close to skin.

Very sweet, heavy orange blossoms, turning into tuberose after a while. Thick, can be nauseating. Yet for orange blossom lovers it is worth testing. Can smell peach lightly, but no green tones. Although i think it is well made, wouldnt be able to wear it.

I found hb01 to be strange and disappointing. At first, it is exceedingly sweet. Not sweet in a pleasant way, but sweet in an indolic, overripe, compost kind of way. Beneath the sweetness, hb01 gets downright weird. At first I smelled cumin and, oddly enough, body odor. Then, a bizarre pickle smell emerged. Ultimately, it rounded out to a balance of sweet and pickles. It made for an interesting olfactory experience (pickles!), but is definitely not something I would want to wear.

HB01 is my first encounter with biehl parfumkunstwerke, and I’m surprised to be disappointed. It began with a pungent blast of indolic cassis and sickly sweet peach and ylang ylang. It made me a little sick to my stomach, but I powered through it. Eventually it settled down into a nondescript fruity floral, but heavy and cloying, not a fresh, commercial, tweeny fruity floral.
Of course, this is just the way it reacted with my skin. I won’t be deterred from trying more fragrances from this line, but, as always, I certainly recommend trying before buying.

#wow!what a wonderfully elegant, feminine floral beauty of a fragrance..this is one of the best this line has to offer (imo)! I do not get any cloying sweetness as the previous reviewer thankfully. Instead I got a flowerbomb of a rare quality in my face as I sprayed it on my neck and wrists. The first impression is indeed a fresh orange flower bedded in cold green iris notes..Later on I get some rose note with a fruity peach smell. After a few hours the iris is still there but not strong anymore and a whiff of sandalwood and vanilla. It s a velvety smooth scent now cold and warm at the same time and lingering and lingering..great staying power! Truly a great perfume for any floral lover (At the same time I was testing HB01 I had on my other wrist Songes from AG, and now, THAT’s a cloying sweet floral at its best, lovely but only for sweeties:)whereas Hb01 stays only a heady floral)

This is like fresh sticky sweet orange blossoms dripping in honey. Its almost too sweetly overbearing at first. However it is soon softened somewhat with the velvety smooth fruits – blackcurrant and a hint of peach. The mid notes bring a smooth blend of white flowers and rose. It’s not so sickly sweet now. Still, the headiness of the orange blossoms is there throughout the scent, so you should like that if you’re planning on liking this scent. This certainly is a quality scent, but I could easily see this being too sickly sweet and cloying for alot of people, even floral lovers. I appreciate the beauty of this and will enjoy my sample but I’ll pass on the full bottle for now.
