Description

Guerlain launches the luxury limited edition Flacon Tortue for the holiday season of 2015. The full name of the perfume is “Flacon Tortue Parfum Exceptional Edition”, and its scent is a reincarnation of Parfum du 68 from 2013, or rather its intense version, Extrait du 68.

The opulent floral – woody and spicy fragrance was created by Thierry Wasser. Its composition consists of accords of mandarin, pink pepper, immortelle, jasmine, osmanthus, benzoin, vanilla and tonka bean.

The name comes from the turtle-shaped bottle, which was first launched in 1913, after the opening of the Paris Guerlain boutique on the Champs Elysees 68. It was designed by Jacques Guerlain.

The bottle is created by the famous French crystal factory Baccarat. Each bottle is made by hand and decorated with silk threads which are interwoven in a unique way.The perfume is available in 47 bottles of 60 ml at the price of 9500 Euros.

I wondered if Polly Bergen’s lovely Tortue from (maybe) the 1970s had crept into the Fragrantica lists. Guess not.

I am not pretty sure about the main ingredients of this stuff… perhaps angels’ sperm or unicorn tears, or vampires’ blood. Perhaps the bottle was made by the Elves, or the Moria Dwarves. Certainly, the smell would be fantastic, but to ask 9500 € for a glass turtle is way too much. I wouldn’t pay such amount of money for this even if I were some spoiled rich boy with money bursting out from my pockets.
