Eau du Cloître is my least favourite of Le Couvent’s range, which I wasn’t expecting since rose is one of my favourite notes, but if I’d bothered to check the note list beforehand I could have seen it coming: it’s just not up my alley. I don’t think this is a bad perfume by any means – in fact, like the others from this line, it’s really excellent for its price, and it outperforms most of the others when it comes to longevity (although it does retreat close to the skin after half an hour or so). Unfortunately, it’s just not my kind of rose, although it’s an admirably natural-smelling one. I do enjoy the opening where there’s a good balance between the sweet rose note and the peppery geranium accord, but very soon the latter takes over completely, at least to my nose, and from then on it just doesn’t do that much for my personal taste.
So I probably won’t get a lot of wear out of my little bottle, unless my taste evolves dramatically. I’ll still keep it around, though, mainly for aesthetic reasons – this pink one looks so nice in the colourful row of 30 mls from this range I have in my cabinet, it makes me happy just to look at them. And even though that’s a bit silly, at least it doesn’t feel like a waste of money at this price.

A bouquet of freshly cut roses with an air of minty greens. It dries down to a crisp and uplifting, clean rose.
Perfect company in spring and summer, both charming and fresh, while natural and almost “organic”.
It lasts considerably well, even though it is only a cologne it lasts about 10 hours and envelops it’s wearer in a soft cloud of scent.

This fragrance has grown on me a bit. When I first tried it, I thought it smelled a bit cheap and soapy – I suppose I was hoping for something more like the old Tea Rose Crabtree & Evelyn fragrance that I used to love. But over the summer, I’ve come to appreciate its very light rose qualities. I usually wear Weleda rose deodorant, so it marries well with that, and the Dr Organic rose shampoo by Holland & Barrett. It lingers surprisingly well on cloth (my dressing gown usually smells of it) and has a sherbety, refreshing quality. So, although I probably wouldn’t buy it again, I no longer feel like it was a mistake. The richness of Jo Malone Red Roses Cologne is definitely more to my taste, though.

This is a light grassy green rose. Pretty linear and simple. Not strong projection.

I was really surprised when I looked up the notes. From just smelling it I was expecting some leather or musk.
This is a dark seductive rose on me. Maybe it’s the combination of geranium, cedar and ginger. The final product isn’t as light and peppery and the notes would suggest to me. I’m very intrigued by this one

Fresh, rosy, green, clean and pretty. Thank you so much for the samples again, Xrayer! This would be a lovely light scent for summer days, can’t stop sniffing my arm but also after a little while, smelling the lovely dry down I realise that while this is pretty, I think Serge Luten’s La Fille de Berlin still beats this one hands down for a light yet complex pretty rose, but that’s just my opinion. This one’s speech is a little too chaste and monosyllabic for my tastes.

If only it was available in Brazil….

Like everyone else said: A very pleasing, very natural and botanical smelling rose, which feels fresh and clean.
I’d wear it, if I’d be into flower perfumes.

This is a fresh, botanical-smelling rose and green fragrance, like a late-summer garden warmed by the hot sun…dark, waxy green leaves and deep magenta roses on a clear day. The ginger and geranium add a natural freshness and the cedar is subtle and in no way veers in the direction of hamster-cage, for those sensitive to this note (as I am). A very natural, genuine, non-synthetic garden scent–not overly floral, but leafy and vegetal as well. Great for dousing yourself in summer, and appropriately priced for generous spraying!

This reminds me of Rykiel Rose one of the few rose scents (without aoud) I can wear. This is another rose that does not turn uriney on my skin. Rykiel Rose may be a little warmer and a bit more complex but the rose, pink pepper and fruits notes are very similar. This Cloitre is a very botanical smelling rose like pure rose-water perfectly blended and enhanced with other botanicals. I really like it and enjoy wearing it as my bedtime fragrance or early morning enjoying my coffee scent.

Eau du Cloître smells mainly of rose on me, and a very green one. Not green to the extent of being metallic or soapy, but in a very bontaical way, fresh but with a slight earthy edge. There isn’t much sweetness in the fragrance, and the floral aspect feels quite shy compared to the verdancy. I find the overall effect quite similar to Balenciaga Florabotanica.
The sillage is close and the longevity is around 7 hours. With its scent being green and relatively transparent, Eau du Cloître fits well in the cologne aesthetics of Le Couvent des Minimes. It’s a quite affordable option as a cool, fresh fragrance for casual wear in warm weather.

Elegant rose and geranium. I can imagine English dames wearing this perfume while strolling through their gardens. That said, I realize now that I’m not a fan of rose in perfumes though (makes me feel a little fusty), with the exception of perhaps Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose.

I’m not a fan of Eau du Cloitre, even less than the other ones in the line.
This is not a bad perfume but it happens not to fullfil my needs and tastes.
The rose here is a little of the cheap lab side and red berries doesn’t lift up the mood of the blend.
It’s a rather simple composition with a pleasant smell, but nothing more.
Unfortunately after a while on my skin it smells a little musty, kind of fresh-musty (if it makes sense) and it reminds me of some typical lady scents of the Arrogance kind or Arden Beauty or a Monotheme that I cannot really point out.
It doesn’t project too much but it’s longlasting.
For daytime casual and feminine wear.

I just visited the nice folks at BeautyBridge.com today to pick up this beautiful fragrance in person. This is just the most beautiful, natural, light smelling rose. The other notes enhance the rose and are perfectly blended and balanced. Not an ounce of synthetic fragrance here, just pure bliss. This will make you feel so beautiful. The only flaw is that it doesn’t come in a larger size!

Just coming back from France, I have tried this lovely gentle and very elegant fragrance. I have two colognes of le Couvent des Minimes and ALWAYS i am delighted by their fresh and natural quality.
    The notes are:
Rose, Pink peppercorn – sources of joy
    Geranium – source of harmony
    Grapefruit – refreshing
    Ginger – source of vitality
    Cedar – invigorating

    Love!!!!!!!!!!
