Description

Dior reformulates its masculine fragrance Dior Homme Sport from 2008 and launches the new Dior Homme Sport in early 2012. Perfumer Francois Demachy made the original composition more elegant with rich floral powdery notes of iris.

This powdery, woody and greenish sports scent begins with citrus accords of ginger and Sicilian citron. The refined perfume’s heart is constructed around Tuscany iris note, which gives the fragrance a bit of a vintage character. The base is woody and aromatic, including intensive notes of Virginian cedar wood.

The face of the campaign, captured at the French Riviera, is once again Jude Law. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

As with all Dior fragrances, this is a masterpiece. I love Dior. This is elegance in a bottle. The iris to me comes across woody and manly with a wonderful citrus top note. Unfortunately performance on this is abysmal. The opening quickly becomes a skin scent. I probably won’t but this again even though I am in love with the smell.

    Wow, this is delicious!
You have to really appreciate what is in the bottle to appreciate the scent.
From the outside, a quick judgment can be made that this smells like a lemon scented cleaner. However, really taking the time to smell this, really brings out the beauty in it.
This is very citron dominated. The citron comes off as lemon. The ginger is also heavy.
One of the things I never liked about DHS (original) was that the lemon/ginger combo was just overbearing.
The added iris if the 2012 version is beautiful! Honestly, the iris isn’t extremely noticeable, but it does tone down the top notes of lemon/ginger.
The mouth watering comparison of “Iris infused lemonade” is spot on. Really like this one, even if it seems a little one dimensional.

When in doubt, you better go for Dior homme sport
It was till last year my signature scent. Still wearing it in sommer fall spring, but somewhat sparingly so that my favorite 2012 version is discontinued. Always, in every kind of scenario gets the job done, boosts the confidence and ofcourse makes you smile 10/10

This stuff is like a classier, gentlemanish version of Dior Sauvage. The freshness of the italian citron combined with the warmth of the iris is magnificent. 10/10

Beautiful scent but not that lasting under the hot sun and humid weather.
I own a couple bottles of the 2012 batch and they perform just under 3 hours before turning into a skin scent for another 3 hours.
I guess best time to wear it is during spring season or under a controlled environment to push the performance further.

So buy a VINTAGE 2012 and have the Iris note back again!

Classy, elegant, sophisticated. It’s a shame they removed the Iris note.

I have had a long “ping pong” relationship with this one!
At first I found it too “soft” for me and used up most of the bottle- then gave away the last 1/4 to a friend.
Years later, by accident- I bought a second bottle (not knowing I was so “on the fence” with DHS …then…My nose “grew up” a little more!
The Iris is the star here and it’s backed up so nicely. This is a formal adult date with an important person ! Or so it feels.
I need this for my Iris “fix” now and just scored a VINTAGE 2012 back-up on eBay for $35.00 .
I have no idea what the 2017 version smells like but with no iris– what’s the damn point ??
Probably not a good “blind buy” for a newbie / younger guy. Safer for an adult nose who is not afraid of Iris (cause it’s too femme for some “dudes”.)

I’m yet to find a vloger who puts this on their top list. I like it but it’s a bit too strong and forward. I still love it though.

My goodness is this a gorgeous scent. The ginger and cedar combo is stunning to my nose. But, the crappy thing about this fragrance is that it lasts for 5 hours. That being said, it does project nicely for an hour or two. I wish I owned a 100ML of this. I would spray it on every 20 minutes. That’s how much I love the smell of this bad boy. This is such a pleasing smell I think every single person in this world would enjoy. I know… That is a huge statement to say, but, this is such an inoffensive fragrance that I can’t see anyone disliking. Smell it homies. Let me know what you think of it. It has a slight Iris vibe, but, its all about the ginger and cedar.

I am a iris lover and also a citrus lover. For some reason I don’t reach for this all too often. I think personally I like to keep them separate just go all the way one way or the other

  16. :

It is a nice fragrance. Classy, safe and a complement getter.
The bitter citron lemony opening is of extremely high quality.
Longevity is average. The 2017 reformulation is better in my opinion .

  17. :

Such a magnificent delicate scent. The citrus are amazingly well achieved, and the woody background completes a unique experience. It gives you a kind of energetic, relaxed, and elegant feeling. I’m so happy I found a 2012 batch bottle. My only concern is that the juice doesn’t get spoiled before I can wear the whole bottle. So impressed with this find.

I have both the 2012 and 2017 versions and I must say if I’m picking a fragrance to wear with a suit, I would pick 2012! 2017 is good on it’s own but I believe you can wear 2012 with more formal occasions due to the ginger note. Masterpiece!

  19. :

I like the opening: a blast of freshly grated ginger and citrus. After 15 minutes, some iris emerges and there’s a lovely effervescence. And then, before even an hour has passed, it’s all gone but for the faintest of skin scents.
While different in several ways, if I’m in the mood for the kind of vibe this has (which is most assuredly not sport-related), I find myself reaching for Habit Rouge EDT over this almost every time.

Re-visiting this gem as i smelled the new 2017 version and that was a disappointment. All i can say is a WOW!!!. I have not worn this for awhile now and is truly is a great scent. It’s one of those sport frag with class. The citrus and iris really does stand out and blends well creating a unique smell in a sport frag category, not your typical citrus woodsy base as most summer frags are. The only drawback is it’s performance it does “suck” lol, but the good thing is it’s not offensive; you can spray six heavy without any problems and it wont offend anyone. Unfortunately being discontinued got me two bottles as backups. Final verdict if you want a classy sport, fresh, scent get this while you can.
    Frag description:
Citrus, fresh irisy, greeny with slight woods.

    Hello Fragfam!
Dior Homme Sport 2012 is my scent of day, so I’ll share my thoughts about it.
The opening of this fragrance is fresh, uplifting, very lemony and juicy. After 10 min, you can detect the ginger, very well balanced with the lemon note. To my nose, the iris is not powdery at all and, comparing with rest of the Dior Homme line, is well subdued. You know the iris is there, but is not the dominant note.
The scent goes very linear, although very well blended, with that juicy lemon, ginger and a bit of iris in the back, until it starts to settle down as a skin scent, where some woody notes can be detected.
The performance of Dior Homme Sport 2012 is moderate. It lasts between 6h-7h and it projects within a arm’s length between 1h30-2h, with decent sillage.
Overall, I love this fragrance! Is it a Sport scent? No. In my view, this aroma is a perfect balanced between casual and formal and because of that it’s very versatile. You can wear it the Spring, Summer and Fall (It doesn’t have the complexity and performance to be used in the Winter). It’s a great office scent and for casual scenarios. Can be used, as well, in the warmer nights, but, to me, it’s too bright and refreshing for that.
I prefer this scent over the 2017 version. Although the last version is, indeed, a true Sport fragrance: much more fresh and citrucy, quite linear and flat, in my opinion.
Dior could keep the 2012 version, rebranding it, but that’s just me.
    Great juice! You’ll be missed.

If you like this scent, now’s the time to buy it. Even if you weren’t thrilled with its performance, prices are currently ROCK BOTTOM on this one due to the release of the new Dior Homme Sport, since all the older bottles are being sold off by cosmetic/fragrance resellers. I just picked up a 1.7oz bottle for $17, and 3.4oz bottles are selling for less than $35! Get this one while you can, if you like it! Mark my words – they’ll miss this scent next spring, once older bottles have sold out and availability becomes more scarce.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

I HATE that I LOVE this scent. I went through a ton of samples and could not get over the lousy performance. But… now it’s discontinued and soon-to-be scarce… so here I am buying a full bottle of it while it’s still on the cheap side. I just couldn’t live without giving this scent at least 1 full season in my rotation, which will likely be Summer 2018. Yeah, it means I’ll have to carry around a decant, but I don’t mind that. I just like the scent so much that I feel the need to attach some memories to it. That’s well worth $30 to me, even with the minor annoyance of carrying a decant next Summer. At the very least… low risk, right?
I haven’t smelled the 2017 yet, although I suspect that I will become interested in that one for next summer as well.

    Sharp and Invigorating Fragrance
This fragrance opens up with a lemon and ginger that blends very well together at the top. The citrus then clams down and you get the ginger note lending itself to the iris note. I don’t get that powdery feeling; however, it is like a clean fresh iris note that isn’t so lipstick bag. You then get the woods in the base.
Many people confuse the sport written on a fragrance bottle with doing something strenuous. This concept or idea makes one laugh. If you look on any designer fashion show; you will see that they have a sports wear on the runway. I guarantee you that you won’t find any clothes for playing sports or going to the gym. You will find models with suits on i.e. sport jackets and such. This fragrance can be worn smart casual to in a sport jacket going on a yacht or driving a sports car on the weekend. Great for work and dates. Please people lets stop this notion that sports fragrance are made for the gym. If you are using this discontinued gem for sports. You could use it for playing golf, equestrian or pool. I won’t get a back up bottle of this. I’ll just grab the next 2017 version next summer.
The performance of this fragrance is its achilles heel because the scent is just marvelous. This is just a sophisticated scent that will stay in the collection as long as possible.
    Longevity 4-6 hrs
Projection is moderate in the first 2 hrs then draws close to the skin.

I think a lady could pull this off. The Iris makes it very elegant and more feminine, it’s not as feminine as DH or DHI.
FYI- Performance is average for a fresh frag 3-4 hours, 1 hour projecting—not as bad as some say, at least on me.

  26. :

@tiababy it has a bit sharp and masculine edges for a woman to wear it to me.. But wear it if you like it! It’s your opinion what matters after all 😉

  27. :

    3 out of 5

Guys, would you say that this is unisex enough to wear for a woman who loves the original Dior Homme and Cartier Declaration D’un Soir?

  28. :

    5 out of 5

Tony is right on the money – Iris-infused lemonade is the perfect description. I definitely prefer this to the 2017. Both are high qualify aromatics, ideal for “sport” or just warm weather application – but this one seems to have more shared DNA with Homme, as a flanker should.
The 2017 seems to trade the iris entirely for a stronger woody-vetiver base – which is fine by me in general – but it’s not much of a flanker for Dior Homme without that trademark iris being readily identifiable.
I really like this as a warm-weather formal scent as I prefer the sweetness of DH in the fall/winter.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

    Two words: Iris Lemonade.
I much prefer this over the new Dior Homme Sport 2017. The additional iris gives this a depth that 2017 is missing. The citrus is fresh and clean, but the iris is there to add character.
I wish it lasted a little longer on my skin, but performance for me has been just short of the performance I get from Dior Homme Cologne 2013, so I won’t complain.
If Dior Homme Cologne was too simple and clean for you, and Dior Homme Sport 2017 was too generic or boring for you, then this is the one to get. (While you can!)

  30. :

    5 out of 5

Citrus ginger and powder, just perfect. Not suitable for sport though despite the name. Fresh yet classy at the same time, and the juice is high quality. You could wear this fragrance for almost every occasion.
I feel so relax when I wear this, I imagine it’s raining outside and I felt like being wrapped with this comforting powdery scent. Somehow the drydown reminds me of Armani code a bit, that powdery notes.
It didn’t project that much, just for the first 1 – 1.5 hours, after that sit close to the skin. But when you move and walk around, you could still get a whiff of the scent.
Longevity is very good, I get more than 8 hours easily.
Dior should’ve kept this version, and rename the 2017 version into something else. This 2012 version is just a pure class.
I have this perfume and Sauvage, and sauvage smell cheap compare to this.
    Scent : 9/10

    Longevity : 8.5/10

Powdery citrus. Turns a bit more floral as the fragrance wears down. Sillage is decent, longevity is average with about 6 hours of average projection. Elegant, professional, and inviting. I wear this one to work in the spring and early summer and often get complimented.

This is for the 2012 Version in 2017!
    ——————————————-
Ok- I owned this a few years ago and was very hard on it. I said it smelled like a pair of nylon stockings fresh out of the package.
I sold my bottle or traded it or used it as a car freshener. Who remembers?
I was in Ulta – forgot that I had owned this – then RE-purchased it online 2 weeks ago! LOL.
Now just in time for the 2017 REVAMP (that I did not smell yet): I will revise myself:
The list of notes is so sparse and IRIS is a very cold smelling flower- yet the opening and middle of this frag VANISH in seconds and the DRYDOWN is what you mainly get here. It’s a warm “fatty” drydown — almost musky- yet no musk is listed. It feels like someone is cooking a fur coat in a pan of butter ! LOL. But (oh forgive me) NOT IN A BAD WAY.
It’s much more nuanced that I thought when I made my “nylons” remark. This is a WARM scent. I am enjoying this now and I’m on my way to work where women usually remark on how I smell. I will report later!
NOT FOR SUMMER ! And NOT A SPORT SCENT!
    100% Unisex too.
Overall- I like it more than I did before but will probably never bother buying it again.
EDIT: Longevity (a fleeting event now-a-days) is good. Better on clothing!

Absolutely gorgeous. Its supposed to be a sports scent which it is, but this one is the king of this genre because the fresh-sporty genre is always about scents which are a little watery, superficial, fresh and simple. This one though adds depth, class and quality to an otherwise simple genre. The best fresh scent on the market.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

I got Dior Homme Sport at a good deal, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it.
It’s light and sweet. What turns me down is a sort of buttery frying fat smell. Unfortunately this always gets the upper hand.
Quality wise it’s ok and well blended. I just don’t like the overall smell.
    5,5/10

  35. :

  36. :

I will define it in two words: OLFACTORY ORGASM.
If you want I can resume it now in one: PERFECTION.
All other definitions, comments, considerations are useless and time consuming, but if in spite of that you still want to continue reading instead of running to grab as many 2012 flankers as you can before this gem gets out of stock, then up to you…
Absolutely gorgeous! fantastic! Possibly the classiest / highest quality Sport / Summer (AND all season & versatile) fragrance out there.
It’s SHARP and direct like any other. Quite the opposite to many others that show a mess in their compositions, too complicated mixings or too many and unnecesary ingredients. There’s nothing wrong in this one. Its formulation is simply perfect.
How is possible that Dior Homme is such a “wrong” men’s fragrance (it smells like women’s lipstick / make up!) but this Dior Homme Sport is so amazing, so gorgeous, so classy, so elegant, so refined, so fantastic? And this one IS masculine yet CLEAN, unlike the others.
Dior Homme Sport does NOT share the same DNA of the “Homme” line at all. Incredible but true. The only resemblance could be the slight iris note to it, nothing else.
Very good projection and longevity on my skin. No problems at all with its performance.
This one is TOP quality. Perfect in every way. Exudes pure class! Fresh, clean, manly, yet classy, elegant and very versatile with, again, top elegance.
    A true MASTERPIECE.
    12/10. Fantastic. Cum Laude.

There’s a certain accord shared by Dior Homme Sport, Allure Homme Sport, Armani Code Summer et al – a kind of indefinable blandness. Each is nice enough on its own, but once you’ve tried them all, you can’t help but feel uninspired by their uniformity. A hint of iris here, a hint of orange here – it all blurs into one, until it feels like the record is on repeat.
    There’s a certain accord shared…

I love this Fragrance, DHS 2012 is Iris truly done properly & this frag works extremely well in spring and summer heat…
Hopefully Dior DOES NOT scrap this alluring & elegant Men’s Fragrance. The release of Dior Homme Sport 2017 is set for early February & if Christian Dior does decide to Discontinue this great frag STOCK UP! Because this truly is a classic & it’s just a matter of time before all bottles of 2012 are purchased punctuated by price gouging on Ebay…

    Lovely bottle and amazing sprayer.
Haven’t really tried it out in the summer yet, but you get that vibe that its meant for the summer or for a warmer day.
Will edit my review once i try this in the summer months.
    A 7.5 on 10 for me.

I like this one , nice citrus opening followed by fresh ginger and tones down to a very light powder with a masculine floral scent . I don’t think of this as a sport scent at all.. it’s youthful and sophisticated and not a big macho scent .clean and fresh for spring or fall, gets heavy in high heat 75 F. plus …This gets a 7/10.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

At first I didn’t like this but after visiting it again this smells really good. I remember now it was the original, the ginger bomb I disliked. this is much better done now. I don’t get any powder as some people claim. All I get is a musky citron linear the whole life through but excellent performance. Not beastly but consistent and strong. it is a very good fragrance for now

The “sport” in the name of this fragrance doesn’t do it justice. This isn’t just a random fresh scent for the gym, it is a must have for hot summer days and can be worn in almost all occasions, college, interview, work, at the beach, job meeting, romantic dinner on a cloudless summer night, you name it.. In fact to me this is the best classy summer fragrance money can buy.
Performance is remarkable for a freshy, 8 hours of moderate projection, just how it has to be, perfect. Well in case you haven’t figured it out yet this is a 10/10 for me.

Great fragrance from Dior, I like it very much, that mix of ginger with citrus is delicious and in the end the powdery touch of the iris with green notes is heartwarming.
For use especially in the day and in spring or summer, with casual or formal clothes.

I love Dior homme sport, today was 30 celcius and I tried again on my skin, the performance disappointed me. Sits close to the skin after 30 minutes, enough faint, lasts about 6 hours. Smells more than a sport scent, sweet citrus ginger in aquatic way, I find it very unisex. It would be the real winner between the summer perfumes if it’s stronger and more intense…

One of the best Lemon Fragrances I’ve ever smelled!
    Well-Done!
Just 3 spritz for 2,5 hours Sillage(1,5h Strong Sillage and then becomes into a moderate soft projection for another 1 hour)
After 8 hours people can smell it on me (Closer on me, or with the “Air games”)
    Im really surprised.. Well done!

This is one of the best lemon scents on the market. It starts out a bit sharp in the opening but smooths out nicely as the ginger starts to come through in the mid. It is a bit pricey for what I like to spend on a summer fragrance but my money gets me something I don’t see a lot of in summer fragrances and that is longevity. With this frag I easily get eight hours. As sport scents go this has more toward a formal or office type of vibe and age group would probably be late twenties and up.

  59. :

    3 out of 5

I love the lemon and iris scent. It’s clean and warrants compliments. I feel this is ideal for warmer weather and close quarters.

  60. :

since i live in warm climate area (average above 30 C) for me DHS 12 is too “sweet” to wear in outdoor activities, the original is fresher and more suitable for sport event or hang out in hot summer day. However if you want elegant fragrance for office, meeting with your client in workday, or hang out in summer night DHS 12 would be perfect choice, Iris and ginger are very noticeable and give you clean, fresh, sweet and elegant impression..very good fragrance with moderate longevity-projection-sillage.. a very well blended fragrance

Wonderful smelling EDT. Terrible performance. I’m getting two hours out of it and temp today is 58 degrees humidity 55%. I’m hoping that this fumes up with extreme heat or it’s going to hit the fragrance graveyard. Of all my Diors this is my least favorite.
Chopshop rating: 6.5/10 (I had to take off serious points for performance issues)

Dior Homme Sport COLOGNE is my “signature”. This one is not as great but I still LIKE it and will layer with it nonetheless.
Happy to have this in my collection.
Would I buy again ? No.
Any extra $$ would go to a back-up-bottle of DHS Cologne ! (I wanna some day take a bath in it).

EDIT: Liking this much less than I had thought. Smells like a freshly opened package of nylons. No longevity to speak of.

Great smelling citrus-orientated scent, that retains much of the DNA of the wonderful Dior Homme which led to me trying this fragrance. Unfortunately, as many before me has said, longevity isn’t fantastic.. and for this sort of money it should be a little better in my opinion.

It’s a lovely fragrance, very clean, sophisticated and simple, I love this smell, for the 2 hours I get from it… with almost zero projection after 45min.
I really wish they made a juice with better performance out of this, for that reason alone, this a big no no, which is very sad, other wise I would love to have this one in my collection, but for the high price with such a low performance, waste of money.

gorgeous scent that has been discontinued and reformulated…
the reformulated version does not hold a candle to this beauty…
    such a shame Dior…

Man!!! This is simply wonderful. I have to admit that I don’t prefer fresh and citrusy scent and neither a CD fan boy but DHS is an expection. The combo of lemon and iris works so well and gives a dry “lemony” feel. It cuts through the hot and high humidity and sharpens the smell. This is going to be a companion with me during my summer vacation. I already can see myself wearing this frangrance and enjoying a martini in a beach side bar.

Beautiful scent, I dare say one of the best summer scents out there but the issue is the longevity longevity loongevity longevity, what a pity

I agree with the post under mine. Absolutely incredible scent. I highly recommend it to everyone. This is definitely signature scent worthy.
It also happens to last on me forever. Like seriously it doesn’t come off haha. Which is great of course.
    HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I have to first start by saying that I will do my best to stay neutral when reviewing this fragrance because in my personal opinion it is one of Diors best including their higher end line and that is saying quite a lot.
Dior Homme Sport unfortunately had to bear the name “Sport” but in actuality this is far from a sports fragrance. This is too good to wear doing strenuous activity. Maybe adding the word “Sport” was a DIOR inside joke. Like saying “DIOR DOESN’T PLAY”. But no…I know they just wanted to capitalize off the “SPORT” craze at the time of the release.
DHS is elegant while playful, interesting while having wide appeal, and is a fresh scent that can be worn in any season. What blows my mind about this is the way DIOR took HOMME and made it more versatile and youthful. While you could wear DH in warmer weather it lacked freshness which the ginger and citron add to DHS in spades. This is the real answer to BLEU DE in my opinion. I can’t see Sauvage over this.
While I like the smells of EAU and COLOGNE i can’t understand why Dior would create an Homme flanker that competes with DHS. They are very redundant if you own DHS and DHS is arguably the superior fragrance of the trio. It’s also the most interesting of the three to my nose as well.
DHS’s only downside is it’s performance. It lasts 5 hours on my skin which I hate. If it lasted 8 hours I would love it more than DHI which is my favorite of the Homme line because it’s a more versatile fragrance. One may question wearing it during the winter but its a great indoor scent to wear and in the cold most of us are indoors a lot anyway. And well hey, any serious frag head owns empty atomizers and the smell of this is worth the chore of decanting and reapplying it. If they did an intense version of this I’d probably do flips tho…
There is a place for light scents too and DHS fills all those occasions for me. It really works when you want to wear multiple scents in one day. While its highly loved and known within the fragrance community its very overlooked by the broader public. I get more compliments wearing DHS than any other from the HOMME line. Women for some reason aren’t as fond of DH and DHI on us as much as so many of us are but DHS receives a lot of love from the opposite sex in my experience when it’s noticed.
Simply Put: A versatile top shelf smell which will go fast in a smaller collection. To me the smell of DHS is worth its small inconveniences but others may not agree.
8.5/10- Would be a perfect fragrance if it performed…but that smell tho…

Smells like a combination of DH eau for men and DH cologne with a hint of ginger. A very pleasant, easy to wear summer scent that won’t offend many. The citrus note is very much the dominant one, with iris and cedar always present. Performance is fairly good, particularly for a citrus-based scent (which I often find to have low performance).
Not in the same league as others in the Homme line e.g. DHI, but then again it is not meant to be. Safe blind buy if you like citrus scents, safe all round.

With a smile on my face I’m writing this: I’d overcome my first reaction – “Oh dear me, what have I bought”?
I kept spraying for days this DHS, and suddenly…
Spring is in the air AND I Love IT!
“Oh dear, it had bought me”
    Of course I smile =)

I prefer this to the 2008 version. The iris note make it more of Dior Homme and it the best Dior Homme flanker IMO

Don’t let the simple note breakdown fool you, this is an amazing scent. It’s replaced YSL’s L’homme as my signature in the warmer months. This is an inoffensive scent, the ginger and citron off the top are not too sharp for my nose, and it drys down to a nice cedar and iris base. I wear it to class and don’t have to worry about killing anyone.
The performance is fine for this genre of scent, if you need a “sport” scent with significantly better performance then get Allure Homme Sport. I think DHS is a much better scent though, due to how simple the notes are. It won’t get cloying in 100+ degree heat. On regular days I get 3 hours of projection, the scent stays around for 5-6 hours.
The presentation is top notch as expected from the Dior Homme line, the sprayer is beast mode and the bottle is great. There’s not much resemblance to Dior Homme, other than the powdery iris note, but that’s fine with me.

Best sport fragrances BY FAR!! To me it smells like strawberries (iris), ginger, powder and lemon in the background.
    WOW!!!
    9/10
    for a sport fragrance: 10/10

    (2012 version)
This fragrance in not a typical reformulation its almost like dior just wanted to change the dior homme sport fragrance altogether but also still holding onto some of the notes.
This fragrance is very smooth even when first applied to the skin there is no harshness like other citrus fresh scents on the market.
On initial spray i get fresh lemon/grapefruit with a hint of fresh ginger and minim
