What is going on at Dior?
I re-sampled this the other day in a department store and whilst it smelled very nice (as it always has) it was gone in an hour. I had to press my nose right into the skin to smell it. Reformulation madness.

I blind bought this after reading the hype. The cologne is soft and pleasant smelling. I get a blast of cedar when first applying, then the dry down goes into the musk mallow and chocolate. It’s not as strong as the reviews say it is. I haven’t worn it around anyone so we shall see how it holds up.

Im a lady and i love how smooth this is that I bought for my husband. But actually I spray this occassionally on my wrist coz I just love it so much. 10/10

To my nose it smells like a mix of Mugler Oriental Express and a pot of boiled carrots.
    Its a miss.

Wow, this is insanely overrated. I liked the original, never bought a bottle or anything. Held off since everyone raves about this. This smells like play doh. What the heck? How is play doh anything you’d want to smell like? Iris is toned way down. I get mostly the ambrette and vetiver. I briefly smelled pear and the iris on initial spray, but that doesn’t seem very prominent. Just did not smell good to me, not disgusting, just not very good.

The example of the gourmand fragrance. Beautiful Iris. Definitely for colder evenings. Could be unisex.
Projection is very strong in the first hour. I love it, very elegant, but the sweetness can be boring at some point. It’s a clubbing scent. I’d like to buy it, but it’s expensive and Dior does not allow discounts/sales on their products online. Given the amount of great scents at low price points, I have other priorities for now.
    Fall/winter evenings, 25-45.

Wonderful smelling eau de parfum, very dark and intimate with a nice linear progression of its soft woddy iris notes down to nothing in about an hour. Great bedtime fragrance because you won’t be smelling something that’s not there while sleeping. Highly recommended.

Smells niche, could be a part of the Malle family, a slightly sweeter cousin of Musc Ravageur, it turns into a slightly carmel/chocolatey type musk confection on my skin.
The performance is shocking, zero projection, I’ve guzzled through one third of my bottle in a month, would have returned it if it wasn’t so darn comforting and delicious.
Really comes into it’s own in the cold.

This is a TRUE MASTERPIECE! Will always be in my top 3 fav until the day I die, if they ever discontinue this or dior homme, I will personally kidnap demachy and order to have him make me as much as possible for myself! extremely addictive and a msssive compliment getter! can wear anytime, anyday! I prefer dior homme slightly but both of them and parfum are amazing! 10/10

    STORY TIME!
There is something about this whole Dior Homme DNA that gives me confidence while wearing it.
If you have never smelled this fragrance (or Dior Homme), you will think I am NUTS for this review…assuming you are/were expecting something incredibly masculine.
Back in the day, I was generously sent a sample. I HATED it. I couldn’t understand how men could wear this proudly. It was a stupidly weird/odd fragrance. It smelled like lipstick to me.
Fast forward about 5 years later, and I randomly craved the Dior Homme Intense scent…I have ZERO clue what it was but I wanted it. I wanted that lipstick smell.
I think it was because literally nothing is like it and its one of those, ‘you want to smell every now and then, just because frags.’
Before I bought DHI, I was presented the opportunity to buy Dior Homme for a great price. So I did. I wore it for the first time and I was absolutely stunned. I immediately found a 2011 bottle of DHI and bought it.
I am so glad I did.
Dior Homme was an eye opener. A stunner. I recently just wore DHI and all I can say is WHAT THE F**K?! Why the hell didn’t I ever give this a chance?
This stuff is the most classy scent I have ever worn. It gives me confidence. It makes me happy just knowing I have it on. The vanilla is inexplainable.
At first I get lipstick (iris), followed by cacao, vanilla and maybe slight woods? Then the vanilla steps up and takes charge followed by the iris. This combination is unbelievable. It lasts and lasts and lasts. You will catch random whiffs which will uplift your spirits and put a smile on your face.
This stuff is a 10/10. Easy. Thanks again, Dior.

This is a really great one! Might not be an everyday or daytime scent, but probably perfect for a date. Has an intoxicating and sensual, pleasing almost gourmand smell that I could see comes off sexy to girls. This could probably get cloying if you overspray so easy on the trigger to achieve the desired result.

@spast I disagree I have the 2013 and 2014 batch which has the ‘third’ formula code and this is still very very good, comparable to the 2013. But agreed the lastest one isn’t so good.

I bought this bottle few months ago as I have heard many good things about it. I felt in love with the scent the first time I tried on my skin, but soon I realised it only lasts on my skin for 2-3 hours. At first I thought my bottle is bad since I bought it from airport and the lights at the counters are quite hot, but soon I realised there’s a reformulation for Dior Homme Intense.
Projection is good, my friends around me could smell it and they quite like it, but longevity is bad. I love the opening of the scent with sweet Iris and Lavendar but I don’t like how it develops on my skin. I regret buying this bottle simply because I have spent too much time researching why my new version bottle does not last on my skin.
“Reformulation” could be the reason, and I guess Jean Patou is next.

currently we have an expensive piss in a bottle.
Go seek for the old formulations of this amazing scent and DO NOT buy current ones:
    1. Years 2007-2010: formula 03214/A – GREAT performance
    2. Years 2011-2014: formula 05443/A – GREAT performance
    3. Years 2015-mid2017: formula 08666/A – CRAP performance
    4. Years mid2017 – now: formula 10950/A – CRAP performance

Yes this is a game changer in men’s perfumery .
Unique smell and one of the best , if not the best dry down in any men’s perfume .
My signature fragrance currently , this is the smell I want people to remember me of .
But there are longevity and projection issues in current batches , I have a 2018 batch and it does not live up to its standards . The longevity and silage is very much below average . Hope Dior will sort it out in newer batches and do justice to this amazing juice .

It has not been discontinued. I don’t know why there are two entries for this on Fragrantica.
To start off with, Dior “Homme” Intense is a misnomer, this fragrance is 100% unisex. It is a lovely fragrance, but that powdery iris and lavender is very noticeable and kills the masculinity. I think it would work well as an evening fragrance for ladies and daily usage for men as long as they don’t overspray. Anyway, I’m going for the richer, more masculine Parfum version.

    Wooooooooooooooooow!
Pure perfection, the scent, the longevity, the silage, the purchase is absolutely worth.
An amazing scent, but not for every occasion, and i think it’s not a frag for teenagers.

Sometimes you want to express your feelings about something you truly love but words can’t describe them. Call this review exaggration but fragrances are some sort of art and I think sometimes we should talk about how we feel about them instead of going through details.
In the sea of fragrances there are only few of them that takes you out of this world and make you feel you are in heaven.
Dior homme intense is Truely One of them. A masterpiece that can show us what perfection means (Just like la nuit de l’homme). It’s just flawless. I know fragrances are subjective and maybe some of you who are reading this disagree with me, But that’s how I feel about it.
It’s like a playing a beautiful piece of piano in a beautiful room full of candles.
    That’s how I see DHI.
As Fragboy Stewie Mentioned in his “top date night fragrances “DHI is just SEX juice.
DHI smells so Natural, High Quality, sophisticated, Unique, Elegant and classy In the best way possible That I think only work when you are confident enough to pull this off, And you have to be in a mood. Of course it’s not for everybody and people who find this fragrance feminine and lipstick smelling it’s because They Haven’t undrestand how this fragrance works.
About age group It’s also depends on your personality, I’m only 20 But I can easily pull it off.
I Only wear DHI with suit and tie or while I’m dressed up, I don’t think It’s going to work with T-shirt and jeans.
While DHI is strong and It performs great, It’s not “In Your face” And can be use in close Encounter situations and dates, Specially in a fancy restaurant.
Last thing DHI is a perfect fragrance in every aspects and The Highest rated fragrance on fragrantica for a good reason.
Best fragrance from Dior along with fahrenheit le parfum.

Dark melted chocolate over some nice juicy pear and some powdery iris lingering. That sounds like a high-class dessert or something. And that’s exactly how this smells… high-class. Special night events only. Quality juice

Love at first sniff, the earlier formulations are heavier on the cocoa it seems, and last longer BUT i find the cocoa too much. I have the 2017 batch, lasts days on clothes and projects, but on skin…maybe 6h. Awesome stuff!

I tried this through a sample I got after buying Eau Sauvage. The scent is very beautifull and can be worn day and night. After going through 2 samples I decided to buy a full bottle.
Booooy was I dissaponited after buying a full bottle.
The full bottle does not last half as long as the samples I tried. It still smells great but really last half as long and projection is very WEAK.
SAMPLE: easly last 8 hours with good projection for 3.5 hours and staus on clothes forever
FULL BOTTLE: 3 hours max and turn to skin scent after 1 hour and cant smell it on clothes after 6 hours
    Batch Code : 8b01 … 2018 production
    Got it from Bloomingdale
    DISSAPOINTED
EDIT: Just sprayed it on my hand and it lasted a good 2.5 hours…

Heaven in a bottle, it feels so smooth, warm, sweet, comforting and classy.
It’s appealing in huge masses and a sure pleasureable experience for the nose that appreciates quality and uniquness.
I would not recommend blind buying this simply because not everyone will get the sophistication coming out of this at first.
This Juice is EXTREMELY potent and lasts forever.
I sprayed some on some toilet paper 10 days ago and the smell is still going strong, it keeps changing in so many different ways… simply amazing.
On skin I get between 14-20 hours with 3-4 sprays with beast mode projection for the first 6-8 hours.
10/10 without a doubt and a true masterpiece.

    Perfection in a bottle.
The name speaks by itself: it is the intense version of Dior Homme.
Not much manly, but for those who love floral/powdery men’s perfumes this is a must-have. Its opening is gorgeous, with a punch of luxury iris right on your face, made smooth/silky by a semi-gourmand pear liquor/ambrette accord, like a gentle caress by someone you love. The lavender adds some soft clean/soapy vibes. The drydown stays pretty linear (which I like: the opening is already complex by itself), and slightly turns into a woody/musky smell.
Despite the notes, it keeps staying on the aromatic side and I wouldn’t define it sweet.
Many other reviewers would disagree, but I find it to be anyway a somehow versatile and wearable scent. It fits not only suit-and-tie but also formal casual outfits.
I can also wear it at daytime (be careful to the high summer heat: don’t overspray or it will be cloying) but it gives its best of course at nights out (I think of clubbing or dating: maybe not for a first date since it’s strong and requires a very confident masculinity to be worn due to its feminine lipstick nuances).
Compared to the EdT version this is a bit more refined, mature and more of a special occasion kind of perfume, while DH would be its equivalent signature scent.
Longevity is awesome (2018 batch): it stays on my skin for 8+ hours, with a solid projection for the first 4.
This is the king of iris scents for men, and has literally nothing to do with Valentino Uomo Intense (that smells like 90% genuine leather with some 10% smooth note of iris) and Givenchy Gentleman EdP (like VUI but spicier and more younger crowd pleaser).
I fell in love with monsieur Demachy. Once again.
Update 27th Jun 2018: this scent is so good that I just received a compliment from a female coworker who never said a word before on any other fragrance I wear!

I got a sample from Notino, no idea about the batch.
It is definitely an interesting scent, quite unique, and it really smells like my mum’s bag. I heard this in many reviews but would have never imagined it could smell EXACTLY like that xD
Honestly although it’s good and I definitely like it, I wouldn’t wear it. I don’t feel like wanting to smell like my mum’s bag, I don’t find it masculine.
It’s nice to have a sniff of it but to go out among the crowds at night I prefer to smell like Fahrenheit or Encre Noire A L’Extreme or when it’s warm like Acqua Di Giò Profumo. And for dates, La Nuit De L’Homme kills ’em all.

Yesterday I was going to my friend to help him study.I put 2 sprays of Invictus on my neck and decided to test my 2018 bottle of DHI batch:8D01 formula:10950/A -4th reformulation. 1 spray on my left hand. That was at 4pm.
Took a bus to get there and whole the way I smelled DHI rether than Invictus and the ride was 1h long. When we were done I took a bus around 8pm home and again i was smelling DHI.At 11pm at home I was still getting wifts of it.Next morning at 11am it was still on my hand but you had to dig your nose in it.
I have no preformance issues with the new 2018 reformulation but i haven’t tested the 2016 reform.
And yes it still smells amazing.

We have the 4th reformulation, the first three were very close, with the third one maybe toning down the “lipstick” note a bit. The latest reformulation seems to have projection and longevity issues.
You can find the formula number at the end of “ingredients” list.
    Formulas:

I love it, I want others to love it, but they just don’t. I tried to get about 5 people near to me, to absolutely agree with me, in thinking this is class in a bottle, sophicated, Elegant, but they don’t. I want the image in their minds that I have : three piece suit, tailored to perfection, stunning accessories, watch, tie, pocket square, and this wonderful scent in a lingering trail, maybe Stepping out of classy not flashy sports car. But they don’t see it. I want it to project a confident educuated person, not necessarily well off, but understands the finer things of life, when the opportunity presents itself. They don’t see it. Not an arrogant guy, but a memorable man. And this scent enhanced him. Well, I got none of that.
Two young school girls said smelled like baby powder. One older guy 50 ish wasn’t impressed. Middle age lady said it’s nice but nothing spectacular. She liked the lavender.
    I wear it for me.

    @Sandalwood__
Impossible, it is a strong fragrance, projects very heavily for at least 4-6 hours and stays on clothes for weeks and months until washed. Of course performance can vary of weather conditions and clothes materials, but either way it is easily above average performing fragrance.
Maybe your bottle been stored badly and gone wrong, maybe it is a diluted bottle that you bought online, like I said it is impossible, go into boutique and try a tester or buy a bottle there.

  43. :

Pure sensuality in a bottle. It is soft, warm, sexy – definitely geared for cooler weather and evening hours. This is my current favorite and has garnered many compliments. My only complaint is longevity – it only lasts 4-5 hours on my skin.

  44. :

My bottle is from April 2018 Batch:8D01
    Formula code:10950/A ~ 4th reformulation
In short to me it smells amazing and same as 2016 batch.
I am very happy with the preformance, its above average.
Longevity is solid 8-10h and it projects
havy for the first 2.5h and moderate for the next 2.5-3h. (1 spray on my hand)
I dont know how the 2016 batch preforms but as I said I am more than happy with this frag!

  47. :

Got 2017 batch! I am absolutely disgusted at the fact that Dior think it’s okay to release a hideous and pathetic reformulation like this for the price you are paying. As soon as I spray
it I can imediately tell that this is a watered down version. Even though it does last on the skin for about 9-10 hours. It only projects slightly well for the first hour then it slowly dies down into a skin scent. Throughout the day when I get these tiny weak whiffs of it, it just comes across as weird and makes me irritated because it smells like a fragrance that should have depth and perform but when I get these tiny hints of airy “shy” DHI around me – it pisses my brain off and makes me want to speak to it and say “STOP TRYING TO BE SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT! SELFISH FRANCOIS AND DIOR SCREWED YOU UP”
NB: Even though this reform still produces a good scent, if I could go back in time I would purchase Valentino Uomo/Uomo intense over this anyday.

Masterpiece. Forget about valentino uomo intense, This is still the King of iris.
Great powdery opening and amazing sweet dry down. And In my opinion it doesn’t smell feminine at all.
Dior homme intense shows its magic in fall and winter nights when you dressed formal (do not wear it in summer)
And it is one of those fragrances that may takes some time to understand it but then you will really love it

Woodiest and classiest frag I own. Reminds me of a dark, antique house with wooden beam supports on the ceiling during a rainy late winter afternoon. Definitely for formal occasions, unless it’s a rainy, raw winter day, which is the prime time for this fragrance. Heavy sillage, in part due to Dior’s ultra-atomizers (Fahrenheit and Sauvage have the same thing). Very long lasting. Also great for city wear. Has a sweet, chocolatey dry down. Highly recommended. 10/10, purchased in 2018

    Hmmmmm…hmm…no sir, I didn’t like it.
I bought a sample vile, before purchasing this. There is no denying it is of excellent quality, and I’m sure the perfumer hit the mark on what he was striving to make. This is one of the highest rated fragrances on this site. For me this is way too much iris, and it leans too feminine for my taste. This puts me in mind of an expensive old fashioned lady’s perfume. If the right guy was dressed in an expensive suit he may be able to pull it off.
This sits close to the skin. It lasts for a long time (after two hours, and three scrubbing I can still slightly smell it on my arm). Not a safe blind buy, try before you buy. Some love it, but it’s polarizing.

My wifes eyes lit up. My sister used to really like this on a handsome cellist we knew.
Yes women love this but I still say the similar valentino uomo takes the edge- it’s a little more edible, a little less makeup-esque, little more creamy.

Christian Dior do make quality perfumes that is for sure. Tried it at their outlet. Amazing scent this is..dry down is so nice..powdery vanilla smell that lingers through out the day..long lasting and sillage is moderate. My test card still has the scent even after 5 days! Good for evening and special occasions however apply too much and be ready for headache. Suitable for colder temperate. Overall a powerful scent.
Edit : Latest review post purchase
Ok i bought the new 2017 batch DHI few days ago and it is not the same powerful stuff of previous batches, the notes are there but longevity and sillage/projection seems to suffer. Disappointed!!!

This is my first Dior fragrance and I must say, the quality among designers is bar none (as are the Chanel level unwavering price tags that come with it). The bottle, the quality of the composition. Everything is on point. I think it also behooves me to say that I bought an older bottle of DHI, so, I cannot speak to the current formulation.
Opens with lavender and a heavy dose of iris. Actually, scratch that, the iris is it’s driving force throughout. I’m not sure what ambrette seeds smell like and I do get a sweet vibe from it so I can only assume that is the pear accord. It’s quite powdery and sweet, with a lipsticky vibe. If you like that, there is no substitute for this beauty. It settles a little more masculine but I don’t particularly pick out vetiver or cedar. The iris is the dominant force here.
Longevity is very good while the sillage is a stealthy bomb. I can’t detect it much myself but everyone else can. I’m impressed with it for such a sweet and powdery perfume. I think any age can do this one, maybe not for the manly man. It definitely has a unisex edge to it. I would say for those that like this scent but think it’s too feminine, Valentino Uomo Intense is right up your alley. Fall through spring and probably more formal, I don’t see this being very casual but could be good for a night at a nice bar. Very good.

youre right, i bought this 2 weeks ago and bad to say, i dont smell anything after 30 mins. What an EDP like this?? Im in the process of returning the perfume to the store in airport, and of course i want my money back. I dont care.
The latest batch doesnt really reflects the prestige of Dior all this while. it just ruins Dior’s image in total.
Comparing to the cheap perfumes like Bogart One Man Show side by side with DHI, Bogart indeed performs much much better in longevity & sillage.
What is happening to Dior these days??? Shame!

    Bad news!
    They change formula. Again! 10950/A.
    Poor longevity.
    Poor sillage.
I’m wearing Dior fragrance since 2006 .Dior Homme – Dior Homme Intense & Dior Homme Cologne.
    This was my last one.
    Never again.

The only part of Dio Homme intense I love is the Drydown, the opening sucks its a bit too floral and you’d think it’s not masculine, but indeed it is masculine and it projects and projects and lasts and lasts for the whole dayz.
    Projection: 8/10
    Sillage: 9/10
    Longevity: 10/10
    Scent: 7/10

Not for me. Makes me dizzy. Its sweet and powdery in a bad way. I usedam to have sweet and powdery scents but this? Eckkkk

This is quite perfect. I can smell leather, powder (iris), vanilla, lavendar, vetiver, and musk. A keeper.

Never understood why this was not made into 1 of the ‘Privee’ line. Imo, this is head and shoulders above anything in that vastly overrated collection – miles better than that minty-oddball Feve delicieuse.
This is Intoxicating. Rich, heady, sweet vanillic pear and cosy iris/lavender/vetiver woodcombo.
In the background, you have powerful waves of vanilla-cocoa radiating outwards through the iris/lavender screen.
The most poignant thing is the Quality, it’s way ahead of even the closest designers. So wearable yet everything in the scent is glistening with clarity of the notes, yet the smooth syprupy vanillic blend is perfect.
Immense scent. Dior, please just do this justice and make it a Privee member.
    My rating: 9/10

I like this perfume. I do not love it but like to use it from time to time. My wife seems not to care much about it, as she never differentiates my scent with a compliment when I wear it. I do think she also accuses an olfactory fatigue with this perfume. That’s only natural. I also forget to compliment her when she uses Eau du Soir, the perfume she likes the most (and wears the most).
I use DHI more at work and in casual occasions, than in clubbing or formal situations. The reason is obvious. In formal happenings and in the club, half the men wear a strong Iris scent. I hate to be “another guy with the same scent”. This obviously is a good inside information about Dior sales but also on its look-a-like fragrance designers. Between Dior and its followers I count at least 14 fragrances with more or less the same type of iris scent as DHI, and sometimes with the same or better performance.
Insecure men tend to use Dior Homme or Bleu de Chanel as a safe choice for any faultless occasion. That does not always work as a single man wearing Spice Bomb, Man in Black, Ultra Male or Tobacco Vanille, will stand out in a group of 10 Dior wearers in any club of the world, or dancing Sinatra songs in a fancy casino dinner party. Dior Homme Intense really lost its uniqueness. My advice – try to use it in casual occasions and then you will surprise the Million, Sauvage, Dylan Blue and London wearers.
As for the fragrance itself, it’s a very well blended juice, with top quality ingredients, not complex, not cloying, with good performance and an assuring brand name behind it.
Lavender establishes an entry ambiance for the strong iris and ambrette (musky scent) to settle its dominance that will endure till the dry down. The woody base notes add some desired masculinity to the global scent and grant a long dry down still suggesting some nuances of the musky iris and the sweetness of the boozy pear.
Let’s work out the math for Dior Homme Intense:
    Scent opening: 9.0 (my judgement)
Scent dry down: 9.0 (my judgement)
Longevity: 8.5 (above average for a powdery floral fragrance)
    Sillage: 8.0 (same as longevity)
Uniqueness: 5.0 (very well designed and blended, but really not a lot different from other 5 Dior fragrances, 3 Valentinos, 1 Zara, 1 Tom Ford, 1 Carolina Herrera, and half a dozen more),
Wearability: 8.5 (Winter, Autumn and Spring – Night and Day)
Versatility: 9.0 (a “yes” to socializing, events, restaurants, and office type of situations; it’s a top fragrance in what regards clubbing, night out, bar with friends, dates and “close encounters”)
Quality: 10.0 (my judgement; of course it does not smell cheap or synthetic)
Presentation: 9.0 (Good looking bottle but not unique design, construction and card box protection; very good sprayer; very handy cap and locking design)
Price: 7.5 (100 ml tester for €80.00 taxes and shipping included)
Overall rating for this fragrance: 8.35/10.00
I do recommend it but I also suggest its owners to be a bit more creative and not use it always/only in formal events or clubbing.

I think this is a hugely desirable scent…
A scent which suits the mature, successful, sofisticated man…
Woody, smokey, aromatic, a bit of melancholy in the air, the scent of an enigmatic night ahead …
Good performance for me is around 4 hours… on clothes a lot longer (I tend to overspray with all perfumes)
    Solid 9/10
(PS I often wear it simultaneously with Bentley intense; Bentley on the torso, Dior on the neck)

The Iris in this is waaaay too strong for me. Test this before you buy it.

Creamy iris, a soft musk and cedar. I can maybe see lavender and vetiver in the mix. Pear seems like a fantasy note. All together this has a chocolate malt powder vibe with a floral touch. Everything smells very natural here. Noticeably sweeter than the original Dior Homme and without the leather.
Sillage and projection are above average. This lasted all day and into the night. Smells pretty unisex to me. A night out fragrance for cooler weather. Maybe not the best casually and there are better work choices as I think it’s quite sexy. While this is an excellent fragrance I enjoy the original more. It’s more versatile, subtle and not as sweet. It doesn’t feel like it’s trying as hard as the intense version. The bottle matches the style of the juice
