Hilde Soliani CiocoChic is an elegant mix of chocolate and salt only, so very simple and straightforward.
It’s a pretty agreeable mix for gourmand lovers, and I assume uninteresting to those that would rather not smell sweet at all.
I’ve not quite smelled a chocolate composition like CiocoChic before so I can imagine it could be regarded as quite appealing given the salty edge.
In some senses, it’s similar Dame Perfumery Chocolate Man Cologne, itself a basic yet smooth rendition of pure dark chocolate, balanced between airy and overly dense.
Performance is good, not quite as good as Buonissimo but certainly satisfactory for the type of scent it is. At the cost of $160 for 100ml, it’s not unreasonable, but not unique enough for me to consider buying, really, but it’s affirmed that Hilde Soliani has a knack for gourmands so I intend to order some more samples.

When I was a kid, my mother wanted to cut down on our sugar intake. Hence endless cans of diet soda (hey, it was the midwest in the late ’80s, she was doing her best). On one fateful shopping trip, she found this stuff called Canfield’s Diet Chocolate Fudge soda.
I was so excited. I loved chocolate. And I loved soda.
Until I cracked open a can of that gag-worthy concoction.
It had none of the things I loved about chocolate, and really none of the things I liked about soda, either. It was just synthetic, thin chocolate flavor with a chemical aftertaste that really lingered in the throat. Horrible.
The rest of my family agreed. It sat in our garage gathering dust. God knows, my parents might still have some out there in that neglected labyrinth of junk.
I smelled this the other day & was immediately transported back to that time, and that taste/feeling of fake chocolate.
What this ACTUALLY smells like is a Tootsie Roll flavored Lipsmacker from Bonne Bell.
If you crave the real scent of chocolate, then all I can say is, keep on truckin’.

It’s a dominant milk chocolate blend with slight salt.
For milk chocolate lovers, this is for you.

I only get nutty chocolate pralines from this. The cheap kind that has already got a white cast on the outside. It’s very linear and flat. I’ve only dabbed my sample on but the projection is close to zero. I would only get this if I was a true chocolate lover looking for something simple to layer with. And even then, there are better and more easily available chocolate scents out there.

Unfortunately I don’t pick up on any salt – might just be my skin eating it up. As it stands it’s a nice sort of dry dark chocolate that stays close to the skin but lasts a good whole day.
It’s pretty one note, but that’s exactly what I expected so no disappointment there. 🙂 Would make for a lovely layering note to something else to add an unexpected hint of dark chocolate.
Definitely one of the better interpretations of straight up ‘chocolate’ I’ve ever smelled in alcohol based perfumery.

Thank you to butterbean for the sample! This is such a neat scent! I agree that it starts off super salty, but then it fades to a lovely dark chocolate that is spot on. Very delicious and I think it would layer quite well with vanilla or patchouli or something else that goes with chocolate.

OMG they added it! YAY! THANKS FRAGRANTICA!
This is a FABULOUS chocolate scent. Really is spot on CHOCOLATE scent. more later….
Ok so CiocoChic is a superb chocolate scent. It starts out kind of strange per the salt note which is definitely noticeable to my nose. Give it about 15 – 20 min and it becomes this amazing DARK chocolate perfume. While sweet, this scent is not an overly creamy or vanilla chocolate. CiocoChic is more of the 70% cacao and a bit on the drier side, but it is not fully a dusty or powdered cocoa.
As it wears it does sweeten up more, and become a bit more of a melty like dark chocolate on your skin kind of scent and really quite yummy!
It really is just pure straight up chocolate scent and I like that. It smells like authentic cacao.
This scent blends beautifully with a plethora of other scents as well as being amazing on its own.
    I get around 6- 7 hours longevity.
