Description

TNT (“Tama n Tuberose”) was created by PK Perfumes to celebrate the life of artist and perfume writer Tama Blough. The sun image in the picture is one of Blough’s quilted artpieces and the cat in the image is her beloved pet, Buster.

TNT is a pure parfum, featuring notes of headspace tuberose with ambergris and musk. TNT was launched in 2015. The nose behind this fragrance is Paul Kiler.

This tuberose soliflore is a true interpretation of the flower; fresh, indolic, heady, buttery, rubbery. It’s rich and fills up the room, intoxicating at the first spray and it goes strong for a couple of hours. In the heart the rubbery aspect fades and I detect ambergris which makes it a bit sharp around the edges, but that goes away in the latest stage, as the scent becomes really buttery, soft and powdery at times. Very pleased with the perfume as it is an a very good tuberose soliflore with good performance. It leans feminine, but I didn’t have a hard time wearing it.

In 2014, the perfumer Paul Kiler realized a project that united the launching of a fragrance with a social action. While preparing the launch of TNT – Tama N Tuberose, he made the donation of the major part obtained with the pre-sale to help with the medical expenses of cancer treatment of the artist Tama Blough, whose fundraising project called Give Forward, had been already released in social media. Unfortunately, Tama passed away in January 2015, shortly thereafter.
The perfumer decided not to change the name, nor the image linked in its page, which brings the photo of the artist, besides part of a quilt made by her (one of her hobbies) and her inseparable cat Buster, as a way of paying a tribute.
Paul Kiler’s passion for tuberose was born in 1987, during a trip through India. Over the years, he made use of it in some of his creations, but he always kept the desire to create a unique perfume that would enhance the beauty of this singular flower. He knew he needed the correct raw materials in order to get his perfect view of fresh flowers, which is quite different from what we normally get with an absolute.
Then, unlike the more opulent florals of the market, which carries the note of tuberose allied to jasmine or ylang-ylang, creating a white and indolic accord, he used notes of musk and ambergris along with tuberose. And the result is completely unexpected, as Tama N Tuberose has a floral soul but a wax body. It looks as if someone has just handed you a fresh-cut tuber of fresh flowers, and that velvety texture of the petals has been transferred into the fragrance.
The joke with the name is also cool because TNT is the acronym for Trinitrotoluene, which is an explosive substance and has everything to do with the fragrance, composed in a concentration of Pure Parfum and extremely rich, in every aspect.
Tama N Tuberose is not an easy-to-understand perfume, even for those who love fragrances that are rich in tuberose content, just like me. The vegetable aspect (which resembles wax) is very strong, especially at the beginning, and may bother. At the same time, it is a delight to feel the floral facet unfolding gradually, not to mention the pleasure of discovering that there is much more to be unveiled in the field of perfumery.
Paul Kiler gave life to a soliflore that is worthy to a flower that is multifaceted and carnal, never casual.

Every word Fostermd said about this perfume is true.
This is tuberose the flower grounded by ambergris; not a perfumer’s loose interpretation. From now on, I can enjoy the intoxicating scent all year round! It lasts for eight hours which is exceptional for a natural perfume.
Somehow TNT sample is not an option from the website like the rest but you can email Paul Kiler to request one.

Fostermd says it best. This is gorgeous sweet, fresh, tuberose all the way. I will add that TNT projects even better on fabric than on skin. It is a true Tuberose flower -not tuberose absolute- that radiates warm sweetness that moves in a cloud with you.

Those of you looking at reviews for tuberose perfumes might have read my other reviews where I explained that as a perfumer I had been looking for the dream solifllore of each of my favorite flowers for my personal wardrobe. As a tuberose enthusiast tuberose was the most difficult sport to fill because I was looking for perfection, a perfume that was the real, living flower growing in my garden in the evening when the fragrance is at its most intoxicating best and magical. When I received my sample I put it right on my skin and in an instant I was only physically sitting in my car in a hot parking lot in front of a strip mall, olfactorily and is spirit I was whisked away to the peace and serenity of a quiet evening in my tuberose garden surrounded by fresh white blossoms enveloping me with their creamy, sweet, velvety smooth warmth. This perfume is tuberose, not tuberose perfume, but the living flower recreated molecule by molecule by master perfumer Paul Kilar as a undertaking of mammoth proportions combining all the quality and master perfumery of yesterday with the science and technology of today to create the only tuberose perfume of the hundreds I have sampled that will stand side by side with the living flower. Nothing is missing, and there are no unnecessary notes cluttering it up like Carnal Flower, which is said to contain the most natural tuberose absolute than any other perfume, which I believe because it, smells quite clearly of tuberose absolute, while TNT does not smell like tuberose absolute, but fresh tuberose, nothing more, nothing less. It comes in full perfume strength, so a little goes a long way and it has very good sillage without getting cloying or obnoxious. Being true to flower and not overly sweet it is ideal for those of us men too who love florals yet want them not to be any sweeter than the natural flower. So for those of you who love the smell of gardenia or tuberose but have found wearing a gardenia or tuberose perfume too overbearing, suffocating, or cloyingly sweet, please give this one a try. It is so natural and honest, I cannot see how anyone could ever find it annoying or offensive in any way. It is pure understated class and elegance for any man or woman. At perfume strength it is very reasonably priced and long lasting. You will not have to reapply it all day and being so perfectly constructed an fixed the tuberose stays together from application until it fades away long after bedtime. This is the tuberose soliflore to tuberose that Montale’s Highness Rose is to rose. It is maxed out in all ways leaving no ways in which it can be outdone. I could sum up all there is to say about TNT in a few words: Simply the best in each and every way. Cannot be outdone!
