I like it. I love the smell. However I don’t see myself wearing it for any other occasion other than around the house on cold days inside to enhance that cozy warmth of the fire and family around a dinner table. Definitely unique. I don’t think it would garner compliments out of attractiveness but people notice something smells good and makes them think of familiar memories. It is smooth vanilla and chestnut with a slight dryness with the pink pepper that gives it the Smokey fire and marshmallow. Definitely with a 5 ml sample to last you a spray here and there through some winter days.

I was put off by the idea that this would smell like yucky burned things. However, I have noticed that my skin magnifies sweet notes. So this doesn’t smell woody or really burned – it smells like sweet cream and maybe a touch of burnt sugar like a crème brûlée. I’ve come to realize my skin just magnifies sweet notes. Anyway this is really worth trying you may be pleasantly surprised like I was!

This was a very loved sample before I bought it. It’s one of the longest lasting fragrances in the Replica line, so I can justify the price for an edt. It’s like Nat King Cole singing The Christmas Song. “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…Jack Frost nipping at your nose.” The cozy and comforting warmth of chestnuts and cloves with roasted marshmallow on a wood fire. Mmmm, it’s that good. This has become a fall and winter staple for many people.

It doesnt smell bad, but not good either. It smells different.
I cant find any situation where I think it fits in.
Try it before youy but it.

I’m not usually into scents that are wood dominant( I like wood in the background) but this is very unique, I like the way it does mimic a bonfire. It dries down in about an hour to a vanilla, nutty( chestnut or maybe hazelnut) and definitely marshmallow. I love Ariana Grandes Cloud marshmallow aspect but this is richer. This is one of like to have a full bottle of but I would only wear it in autumn and winter.
I definitely think of you usually like your gourmand scents try this! It hey, even if you dont…it’s that good.

I can’t describe how much I love this fragrance. It is my holy grail of fragrances. The warm vanilla and hazelnut scent with a gorgeous smokiness is a masterpiece. I can’t get enough of it! Sweet and Smokey goodness.

Great Fall/Winter banger! Very, very nice. Love the marshmallowy chestnut in this.

Lovely warm fragrance smells like hugging your granddad on a Christmas day, with the fireplace going and a sweet smell of marshmallow in the air, warm and snuggly 🙂

To me this really does smell like you’re “by the fireplace” (or more like a smoky bonfire) while roasting vanilla marshmallows on wooden sticks. Lovely, well-blended and brings back wonderful camping memories… HOWEVER I would 100% prefer this as a candle scent for my home rather than a perfume to wear on my body.

More like “By The Campfire”. Reminds me of my Boy Scout camp outs. This is something I wouldn’t wear, the smokiness just doesn’t appeal to me.

I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said, so I’ll say this: This is a true 10/10 – perfect cool/cold weather scent.

Having just tried this in the store on the back of my wrist yesterday, this is fresh in my mind. This is definitely a “story” or “experience” fragrance. You can easily picture yourself next to a wood-smoke fire. But for me, I found myself smelling not vanilla or chestnuts, but caramel – like I was sitting in front of the fireplace in a cabin eating caramel. It was interesting, but not something I would wear. If you want a different path to a gourmand dry-down, this might be something for you.

Wow By The Fireplace is fantastic!
This is my first unisex fragrance that i’ve purchased and it hasn’t let me down. It’s addictive, warm, and absolutely perfect for cold snowy days. It definitely has that strong burning wood scent with the chestnut and vanilla sweetness. I can’t imagine anything better to wear in winter but you can also get away with this during fall. I get a strong image of wearing a cosy sweater and sipping a hot drink in the sofa while watching a Christmas movie knowing that it’s snowing outside.
Both my partner and myself wear this and enjoy it!

Really nice fragrance. I picked this up because I was interested in a chestnut scent but I actually found the cloves to be the real gem note.
The opening is really one of my favourite openings ever. The smoke is soft, round and not as dry as some smoke. No spikey ashtray vibes at all. As it settles down, the sweetness in the vanilla rounds it out, it’s not an overly sweet, cloying vanilla, just soft and comforting. It’s not on the level of Guerlain, whose vanilla notes I think are fantastic, but it’s not hyper-synthetic either, it just about sits right.
I have one problem with this fragrance and I’m surprised it’s not been mentioned in the reviews yet, but in the middle, as the sweet vanilla rounds it out and the smoke dies out a little, I get a very strong, cheap, sandalwood incense stick vibe which reminds me of bong shops from the 90s and it really puts me off. The one saving grace is the clove note which hangs out of this soft round bubble and snags you, drawing you in. It also separates it entirely from the cheap incense vibe. Overall I can look past this stage, as it reaches it late dry-down it drops this and returns to a soft, comfortable blanket.
I can see this working really well on cosy nights with a partner, or even really well on a date night, when you don’t want to come across as a sex-driven alpha, rather, someone more sensitive and pleasant to be around.
Overall, great fragrance. Absolutely love it. Probably one of my favourites for fall/winter casual wear.

Bought a 10ml travel vial of this and yes it is very similar to Commodity Velvet, only difference I can tell is this has that charred wood, lightly mingled in. Very warm and cozy scent but not FB worthy, only because I have a 100ml of Velvet.
    Beautiful gourmandish fragrance.

I have always loved the smell of a burning fireplace. Then the added sweetness to that smell. Bam! You got By the Fireplace. I absolutely love this scent. Great cool weather cuddle up with my wife scent.

Building on the two reviews prior to this one, I would add that By the Fireplace necessitates the invention of a savory gourmand category. It is so impressive right from the top with the cozy smell of heat, marshmallows, nuts, syrup, resin, and the rich, heady smell of an old smokehouse for curing meats.
This one is a log cabin, a hunting lodge, the kitchen at Christmas!
It definitely helps me to understand the concept of the Replica line with a time and a place contained in a bottle. This one has an almost virtual-reality effect of being surrounded by the things it smells like. This being said, this scent is as far from high-concept as can be — it is comforting, cozy, accessible, and earthy.
I have heard some complaints about MM’s Replica line being far too pricey EDT concentrations, but I found the staying power of this one to be quite impressive. A full 24 hours after applying a single spray to my wrist at Sephora, I hopped in the shower, the steam of which reactivated the scent — a nice surprise.

It’s fragrances like this that made me realize perfumes are an art and to be worn to create memories, and make special events and occasions even more special for yourself, and those around you. By The Fireplace is a work of art and it’s clearly not a sexy, romantic or even an attractive kind of aroma, nor was it intended to be. I sampled it a few days ago when here in Boston we got some unusually cold weather (high 40’s) for September. My initial thought was it smells like a honey glazed meat roasting over a fireplace burning cedar logs. It’s not a scent I would enjoy wearing often. But I could see it as a Winter holiday fragrance. It’s a very homey and comforting scent, but after some time it can be a little annoying because it’s longevity never ends. Certainly high quality juice, leans masculine but definitely anybody can wear this. 8/10

I want to eat this. It’s gourmand without being sickly sweet, and the opening of burnt creamy woods is pure magic. Perfect for colder weather.
This is the confident big brother in the Replica EdT range. Really a stand-out.

I did not like this at all. It smells exactly like a christmas ham, and I could not get that out of my head. I do not need to smell like a piece of meat. 🙂

Now this is amazing gourmand perfume! It is what I always wanted from Prada Candy. It is sweet, deep, a bit smokey. Much better than Prada Candy that I own. Warm and cozy perfume for winter.

  22. :

Not really my cup of tea. Smells like you are burning a sweet vanilla log in a fireplace. Having been camping often, the smell of smoke on my body and clothing makes me want to wash myself.
It does accomplish what it sets out to do, but I don’t want to smell like a vanilla smoked piece of meat. Not for me.

  23. :

This is an AMAZING sweet burning wood scent, with the most INCREDIBLE performance. “In The Fireplace” behaves more like an extract, holy cow. Really loving this, I went straight the the top of the line from this brand. Looking forward to colder weather so I can wear this beauty.

Wasn’t able to sample this one so I took a chance and blind bought it based on the reviews and the note breakdown.
It did NOT disappoint in the least! Warm, cozy, sweet. And women love it.
I have no performance issues with this one. I get about 8 hours easily, with decent sillage and projection, unlike Jazzclub which barely projects off my skin.
    10/10 for me.

  25. :

I got a sample and I consider buying it, even more as Autumn and Winter are approaching.
It smells like burnt wood, even if it’s quite linear, burnt wood smell is a « madeleine de Proust » for me… it takes me to my childhood when my father used to build a barbecue with bricks in the garden and would burn wood logs (not coal !) in the barbecue…
I always loved that burnt wood smell since I was a child.
When I tried By the Fireplace, I kept smelling my wrist all day.

I actually think I like the first 10 minutes of this fragrance more than I do the entire story it tells.. which, mind you is 20+ hours even AFTER a shower.
It opens smoky and sweet, very cozy and warm. It gave me a hint of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black with it’s sweet, sultry vanilla and warm woods.
However, it takes a turn on my skin. It begins to really smell of smoke and chestnut. Like. HEAVILY to the point it turned my stomach. I asked several people their thoughts, all of which said ‘hmm.. different… smells like you’ve been smoking cigarettes’.
Overall, amazing longevity. Starts cozy and sweet but later drifts too far into a heavy smoked chestnut for my liking.

Bought a travel spray of by the fireplace initially when I first tried it I loved it. Tested it out a few more times. Now I understand when people say it reminds them of smoked deli meats. Like honey roasted Sliced ham. Also tried velvet from commodity’s. Almost has a similarity vibe but a bit more going on than by the fireplace. I would choose it over by the fire place.More like the smoked ham next to the vanilla candles.

  29. :

Smells like vanilla cigars. As I’m not a big fan of vanilla, this is a little bit too much for me. Reminds me of Make Up Store’s Sable Noir.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

Smells like brown sugar smoked ham. I liked sniffing it, but I’m not so sure I want to smell like it. It definitely reminded me of the artificial smoke flavour that is often used in deli meats and not the acrid, burning smoke of a cigarette or real fire.

For a split second I thought oh no Margiela had done a reformulation but thankfully unlike a ton I could mention this beauty remains stalwart and pure to the original. The colour in my new bottle is lighter and I feared the worst but no, I’d still bite these glowing coals. Best of the range to me.

  32. :

This is the perfume that singlehandedly expanded my fragrance horizons. It completely changed my mind about what a smoky scent could be, and helped me out of my gourmand funk. (Yeah, I know there’s some very sweet notes in this bottle, but there’s no comparing them to your typical vanilla/candy/foodie scents.)
As with every single Replica fragrance that I own (and that’s more than a few), longevity could stand to be amped up a bit. However, it’s forgivable, as they also share a magical ability to conjure up memories of moments in space and time that I haven’t necessarily experienced.
My husband and I eloped last year, and decided to put the honeymoon on hold until we’ve saved enough time and money to travel through Switzerland for a couple of weeks. Whenever that dream starts feeling too far away, I mist this all over and can actually feel the heat of the flames warming the cedar walls of our cabin, snow falling outside the window with a picturesque view of the Alps, a pot of mulled wine simmering on the stove. This is a scent that makes me nostalgic for a time I haven’t even lived through yet.

At first it smelt delicious.. but this is some pungent brew!! Why did I spray this on my hand – way too sweet… even after washing my hands multiple times, showering and hours later I can still smell it. If that’s your cup of tea then enjoy.. big no for me.

I’ve had the same sample for two years, I think. If I were to replace it, it would be with a travel-size, since I only wear it in winter, particularly holidays. It’s *the* Christmas scent, as far as I’m concerned.
I’ll warn you, the opening 25 minutes are logs burning. I have no idea how that scent was distilled, but there you go. After that… at least six hours of beautiful chestnuts.

  36. :

You are condemned to smell good. Maison Margiela probably brings out one of their best creations yet.
This time, it’s the fireplace setting. And you must get it pretty easily: Ahhh yeah, burning wood, chestnuts, vanilla, cloves. It feels safe. It feels warm. And overly seductive.
Seductive, yeah… I mean, if you bring a fireplace with you everywhere you go, that’s pretty legit stuff.
You might want to know that the smokiness and burnt wood from this scent is not bitter. It doesnt feel offensive, but it definitly says cold weather. Just wait for it.
If you’re dating someone in the wintertime, try this. It works like a charm. It can sustains heavy temperature like -40. In North Canada, By the Fireplace seems like a blessing to me. it will last. Or spray it on your leather jacket on autumn. Can’t really go wrong. Hell, try it in summer heat just to make people wonder what is that.
Maison Margiela are selling impressions and moods. By The Fireplace is accurate (You gotta love that chestnut smell!), so just by the name, if you feel like bringing a fireplace everywhere you go during the cold harsh winter like I said above, people will grant you with wishes and praise.
Seriously, my gf thinks it’s so good. I had to give her a decant. Once again, I have to let the ladies speak. At work, same thing. You smell comforting, you smell deep, you smell smoky but in a such good way. Just tone down the seducing voice a little bit. It was formal compliments.
I dont get compliments, I usually imagine them, but those are reals. Trust the ladies, go for a full bottle if the name of the fragrance rings a bell to you.
    Thanks for reading my review!

Tried it at a Mecca store yesterday. It’s interesting, leaning more towards masculine so not my thing. Reminded me of a smokehouse where meats are cured. For all its complexity and uniqueness, I wouldn’t rush to smell that way.

  38. :

Wowza – this is one very interesting and very masculine scent: it smells like charred campfire wood topped with burned marshmallows… not for every occasion and extremely niche but By the Fireplace is Maison Margiela’s only truly intriguing perfume.

    Really really beautiful.
If you want to try something similar for less £ try 4160 Tuesdays sexiest scent on the planet ever. £15 for 9mls wont break the bank 🙂 or £4 for 2.5 mls.

I get a similarity to Herod but this one is much sweeter and I like it better, this can come across as a bit harsh when you smell it up close but in the air, I love it! I don’t get marshmallow of any variety and not as much chestnut as what others are which I’m glad about. I’m suprised at how similar it is to that seeetness in Herod Though the more I smell it up close. I am getting a tobacco vibe for sure! I personally dig it buts it’s not for everyone and can be off putting smelt right up close. One of the better unisex fragrances that works easily both ways. Loving it at the moment. Could be my winter staple.

I am about to go on vacation so i am bringing it as my date night scent and i will be around alot of people so if it does well i will write another review . i wear this even if i am just sitting at the house because i enjoy it so much. 4 to 6 sprays depending if i am inside or out

This fragrance is an incredibly accurate depiction of roasting marshmallows in a campfire, and is very smoky. You can almost see the smoke emenating from your skin when you wear this. But it’s entirely pleasant due to the vanilla-marshmallow accord which sweetens and grows stronger over time while wearing this. I also detect some woodsy notes. On my skin, sillage is moderate leaning strong while longevity is very strong – in fact the strongest out of any in the Replica line of fragrances. The smokiness in the fragrance reminds me of Encre Noire by Lalique somewhat, but that is an earthy, dark forest while this is a very cozy, warm campfire in a forest. If Encre Noire represents Mirkwood forest, then By the Fireplace represents the warm campfires of the wood elves. This is also totally unisex. As a fragrance, this is incredibly unique and is an olfactory experience. Due to its strength and scent, I am giving this a perfect score.

A lovely cozy and sweet woody scent, but perhaps not quite unique or special enough. I am happy to have received it in a big, multi-bottle swap but I wouldn’t pay retail price for it. The best of the MMM scents I’ve tried in terms of enjoyability and longevity.

BTF really does smell like being by the fireplace. But it is so much more than that. It is a very comforting smell. Something you are already familiar with because you have been next to a bonfire or just out in the woods with friends with a fire burning. The vanilla is right there under that burning wood smell and it is gorgeous! I sprayed my favorite hoodie with it and was laying on the couch this morning and I felt so comforted by the smell that it was nearly indescribable how I felt. It was like a warm hug from your beloved. Whoever came up with the idea to make a scent like this is a genius!

Moviefan2000, i haven’t sampled this one yet (sample on way), but I’ve worn MOAT which some reviewers have said this snells like, and last week was wearing MOAT, and later in the day was getting wafts of what i first thought was my BR540! so… no, you’re not the only one to get this association…

It really made me feel at the fireplace. I felt a burnt marshmallow smell. It can be very good for cozy, winter days. It’s definitely a warm perfume. I really liked! I may buy it for next winter.

  51. :

Why didn’t I try this sooner? It’s April and this scent doesn’t fit the spring vibe… but it’s good.
Warm and sensuous on my skin. Cozy, sweet, vanilla/marshmallow, and peppery smoke. Should be good for autumn and winter wear. Reminds me of a summer campfire, too.Not bad for spring, but I’m craving something fresh. The soft, sweet, woodiness works exceptionally well with my chemistry.
Waiting for my bottle of Bohoboco Vanilla Black Pepper to arrive before I pick up this one as they are in the same pepper and vanilla vein, although this one has more smoke and wood to it.
Ok, maybe I need both. We’ll see.
A few hours later I can barely smell it on my skin, unless I put my nose right up to it, then it’s oh so good. This is something I’d wear for a lover or myself, not for a crowd. Then again, I’m conservative with my sprays so maybe it could use a more heavy application?

    This is exquisite
It’s like the older wiser sister of 4610 Tuesdays another kiss by the fireside

    I love it
    Smoky, powdery…divine

This smells so similar to Hilde Soliani Buon Pranzo! Not as smoky as I would have thought and more feminine thant unisex

  54. :

Memorable and unique. It is a fall/winter scent and could be described as both woodsy and gourmand. Reminds me of camping in the woods. It is smoky, burning embers and sticky, warm marshmallows. Anyone could wear this, male or female, young or mature. I would gift this to someone special for Christmas.

  55. :

Okay, so this is indeed VERY similar to IA Memoirs of a Trespasser, so I’ve done a side by side sniff test on each wrist and here are my findings.
The MOAT has a dirty vibe to it. I’m guessing an amber note addition where the BTF is an ‘easier to wear’ and softer edt that has a tad more vanilla.
I own and love them both.
The MOAT lasts a little longer.
Probably no need to own both unless you’re like me and love smoky fragrances and excess!

On paper and then wrist: Smoky wood which eventually dries down to a woody vanilla. Very, very nice. If you like the smell of campfire smoke (and I do) and you can’t find or afford the Cadillac of campfire perfumes, Naomi Goodsir Bois d’Ascese, then get this. $125/bottle at the Nordstrom near me. I got a sample so I’ll be trying it as soon as I use up my five year old bottle of Bogart Pour Homme this week.
    —————
I’m now wearing my Nordstrom sample. Very nice stuff, woody/smoky. I would have thought it overpowering, but no. It wears very nicely. And I don’t think I’m broadcasting it… Also, I would have expected to be cloying, but, no, it’s not that, either.
    I’d like a bottle!

A disappointment for me, but please give this a try.
I get the magic. The fireplace smoke, wood crackling, and holiday feel , but that phases away after 10 to 30 minutes. It then becomes a linear, slightly ambery, slightly irisy, and slight woodsy dry-down with the smoke for 4 to 5 hours. I then get a tiny bit of ash as it becomes a complete skin scent for another hour or so.
I find this perfectly unisex , but was hoping for something more manly. If you know of one like this please message me.
I might purchase if the concentration was twice as strong and the smoke was more pronounced throughout the fragrance.
Women don’t shy away from this one, it might be a smokey fragrance you love.

  59. :

    4 out of 5

This is a perfect fragrance to wear during the Wintertime (and especially Christmastime). It’s sweet, cozy, spicy, and smoky. If you are a fan of Bath & Body Works’ Marshmallow Fireside candle and wish that you could make yourself smell similar to that, then run (don’t walk) to the nearest Sephora and get yourself a bottle of this!
I find that all of the notes appear on my skin all at once; that the fragrance does not “transform” on my skin too much. Every note is blended beautifully here. Even though there’s no “smoke” notes in this fragrance, I believe that the pink pepper, the cashmeran, and the wood notes are what give the smoke quality to this fragrance. The balsam and the cloves give it a beautiful “Christmas tree” quality, and the chestnut and vanilla notes work to blend everything together seamlessly.
“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire” with a decorated Christmas tree in the room really sums up this beautiful fragrance well. This stuff SMELLS like a Christmas Carol to me; it’s beautiful, cozy, and mood-lifting, in my opinion. It also works fantastically as a unisex fragrance.

  60. :

A beautiful, smokey sweet, and woody fragrance. A touch of balsam with the foresty vibe you would get if you pictured the scenario of this fragrance. A tad cloying indeed so you’d really have to enjoy this one to wear it. Very original in terms of scent. Longevity is average but not beastly. I could only suggest wearing this one in the fall at evening or night, winter all day all night, and perhaps in the summer at night when your enjoying the outdoors.
A solid release from this house. I kind of wish there was more pine/balsam notes to really amp up the fragrance. The vanilla could be toned down a touch, as that is what makes it cloying. But overall, a pleasant fragrance that will transport you to a warm cozy place. If you like Jazz club, add this one to your list as well!

I received a sample in a swap and immediately ordered a bottle. Normally when I spray a fragrance, I have to leave the room because I’m not crazy about the initial blast. Not with this. I want to bathe in the smoky goodness. And the creamy cozy vanillic hint of wood dry down with just a trace amount of musk is phenomenal. This is what love is.

Maison Martin Margiela truly has its own thing going on. To my nose By the Fireplace is a gourmandish scent. Balmy campfire smoke, balsam, woods. Delicious.
Unfortunatly I can’t take it and find it cloying and eventually nauseating. Oh bummer. But please, do yourself a favour and experience this. See if you can bear it. See if you fall in love. 🙂

Oh how I adore this one! smoky and spicy and totally unisex. Seriously, this and IA Memoirs of a Trespasser are almost identical in scent.
I chose the latter for purchase as I do prefer the EDP that memoirs comes in. It just wears that little bit better but both are stunning fragrances.
Maison has arrived at Mecca now for us Aussies.
Can’t wait to try the whole range but I have a suspicion that BTF will be the best offering.
    Bottles are simple but effective.
    Certainly different!
*Thanks to reviewer below, the penny just dropped. It’s the CLOVE that clears my nostrils and gives a ‘menthol like’ or camphor reaction. (Wish I could describe that better)
LOVE THIS PERFUME and do think I will buy a bottle soon. Can’t hurt to own both!

Extraordinary! And aptly named. A flash burst of smoke upon first spray. After a moment, the smoke gives way to a combo of vanilla, cloves and a hint of guiac wood. Great for fall and winter. I’m a sucker for scents with a clove note. This one’s a winner.

Un Bois Vanille + Gilded fox reminds me a lot of this for some reason! Try it, and let me know if you agree 🙂

Wow. This is an immediate love!
I’ve always been a fan of sweet chestnut scent, and it is here in full force. It is supported by a woody, medicinal, incense note that is amazing. Clove, wood, and balsam from the listed notes makes sense, but it could also be oud or copal.
The end result is sweet and smokey and never dull!

If you have this, do you need Tom Ford Tobacco vanille?

Am I the only one that this reminds them of a sweeter, smoky, Baccarat Rouge 540. Worn side by side, this is definitely sweeter once it sits, and smells of toasted marshmallow, put the two together? Watch out. Baccarat is the only fragrance out of the many that I wear that I get compliments on EVERY time I wear it. All of a sudden BTFP had the same effect. Compliments within a few minutes. WOW.

Love! Smokey, sweet, vanilla, caramel, spice…. its magic in a bottle… So cozy and warm. Yes please!
Oh and if you just happen to have Hermes Elixir Des Merveilles Eau De Parfum- trying layering them and then just wait for it. You’re welcome… 🙂

Don’t get me wrong.. This smells great! I just find this to be too much like the smell of a candle, even the waxiness.. As someone previously said, this smells almost exactly like the fireside treats yankee candle which I find very off putting. Basically, it smells good, but I wouldn’t actually wear it as a fragrance for myself.. I could see it being a good air freshener..

I am totally crazy about this scent. I am really sensitive to most fragrances and have honestly been searching for my perfect “signature” scent for years now. I thought I’d landed on it with Atelier Cologne’s Vanille Insensee, but something just always felt ever so slightly cloying with that one… enter By the Fireplace!
It has everything I love. A tinge of this sort of radiant smokiness, a deep vanilla dry down that remains unisex without compromising the sweetness, the clove.. I swear that every time I smell it it gets more complicated, I smell more of the notes. Just now, after a couple of hours I caught the most delicate bit of orange. It just keeps opening up into better and better layers! I never get bored of having it on! It feels sophisticated and cozy and strong but never overwhelming. And so far NO MIGRAINE! I am in love, and will probably wear it to bed.

Wore this to pick up my girlfriend from the airport today. After turning on the heater in my car, my whole car smells like baked cookies! Girlfriend likes it and I personally love the smell. So warm and cozy on a cold winter night. This fragrance is something that I’ll never regret purchasing. As a matter of fact, I sometimes even wear it to sleep because it’s just so comfy. Damn amazing scent!

I don’t own this but it sounds something I would enjoy wearing on cold and cozy snowy nights. Someone tell me if it’s worth the price

On me, By The Fireplace is a very warm and cozy vanilla, with a salted caramel element and mild woods. As it develops, the balsam, cashmeran, and chestnut come through more. But they struggle to keep up with the suagry sweetness of the vanilla and that is the scent that prevails throughout its wear. This fragrance is more gourmand than anything else, in my opinion. The other notes just seem to hang out in the background rounding things out. I wish the clove and juniper were more prominent, as they would have added a nice wintry vibe that I don’t get. While the scent is thematically aligned with its name, there are parts of “fireplace” smell that are missing for the full effect. Mainly the smoke, burn, and dry wood. It veers too far into candle territory. That is not to say this is not a sophisticated endeavor because By The Fireplace is not a cheap B&BW fragrance. It is genuinely delightful. However, for the price, I expected more.

Literally smells like a fireplace, burning wood. Definitely accurate but strange as something to wear.

It is cold now and I look forward to when I get to put on my hooded sweatshirt and spray this on and envelop myself in this goodness. Awesome stuff!

As the mayberry review stated, By the Fireplace is like that Christmas song, “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…” That sums up this perfume completely! I love it so mu
