an enigmatic, prismatic and spectacular perfume from the get go. opening initially with intense spicy, almost smokey accords, with a diaphanous yet creamy ylang ylang and absolutely stunning blue lotus note that just makes me release a sigh of divine floral contentment. in spite of the spiciness of that opening, nothing is sharp or catches on the nose, it’s smooth as silken white smoke on water. it’s hard to imagine a particular place or time with this, it just feels… mystical and somehow pure, like blue lotus incense burning on the bank of a misty river. the touch of amyris heightens the blend with almost a lemony kind of feel, as the amber, creamy sandalwood and cardamom just begin to glow through all of this like light shining through the surface of water. the whole image is encased in a gauzy haze of ambrette and spices, including a dusty, almost woody, non-sweet vanilla, much less intense than in the opening. multifaceted, layered, shifting… and ultimately beautiful. subtle once it’s settled, but still very much there, glowing.

I have moderate to severe allergic rhinitis so I have to dilute perfumes sometimes to enjoy them. I’ve mixed 100ml of hazelnut oil with around 5ml of Blue Lotus to use as a light body oil after a hot shower. Perfection. Glad Teone didn’t mind when I told her about my concoction!

Blue Lotus is one of the most hauntingly beautiful perfumes I have owned and worn. It has a meditative and spiritual quality. As a small child there was large painting on my bedroom wall of an angel watching over a child playing by a brook. Wearing Blue Lotus as an adult, takes me to a similar realm of being alone beside a brook somewhere not on Earth.
I spritz Blue Lotus reverently and liberally and whisper, Oh my word….blessing wrists, neck, hair. I wear this for self and feel beautiful under its silky veil. Blue Lotus stays close to my skin and is worn for self, but the one I love finds it gorgeous when in my personal space and smells exquisite flowers. The base is a stunning amber which lasts for hours. The rest of the story is a sensual Edenic visual of water and earth, lily pads, insects, reeds and flowers.

This is very classic. It’s a little old-fashioned but in a clean and wearable way – sandalwood and musk. It’s like a soft Samsara EDP.
    Sillage and longevity are moderate.

Blue Lotus. AS ABOVE SO BELOW.
Looking at the list of ingredients in this one I knew it would be unquestionably beautiful, and it is pure haloed magic.
Once, in Ancient Egypt, we bathed amongst the blue lotus blooms while someone stayed on the lookout for crocodiles. The mud kept our skin supple when we dived into its soft slurry to retrieve the roots and stems which were used for weaving and nutrition. As we broke through the prismatic surface of the water to the daylight again we were reborn into the floating fragrance that swirled around us, wafting ashore the sun warmed sweetness of the newly opened blooms. The flowers were stars. We swam in heaven.
One cannot venture on the journey of Teone’s Blue Lotus without realising the aquatic origins of this famed flower. Here the scent of heaven shines from the blue lotus’ golden heart while its roots remain firmly mired in the watery mud below. You do dive down and smell that life giving resinous mud of ages, coming from the sandalwood, amber and cardamon; but at the same time the euphoria of Ylang-Ylang, vanilla, and the many-winged petals of Egyptian Blue Lotus bear up upward through those scented layers into a beautiful lingering dawn. This fragrance is balanced, it is grounded and yet sublime, like the plant that gave it birth.

This is such a beautiful fragrance (oil parfum), and a real stand out for me from this house! A unique, elegant and incredibly beautifully composed spicy floral amber that’s like no other. A gentle ylang ylang opens this beauty, its spicy floral notes softly caress the senses with refined finesse. Blue lotus blooms gloriously through heart. This is the the power house of this fragrance, yet the aura it creates is both naturally and spiritually balanced in a perfect, harmonious accord. The incredible floral heart and top notes are embraced tenderly by a sheer yet cozy ambrette, and the whole fragrance is underlined by a warm, tender amber base. There really is nothing like this in my collection, its addicting and compelling both, and I know I will come back for this one more than once!

Blue Lotus and I were off to a rocky start. A compulsive arm-sniffer, I would often put nose to skin and snort a scent hungrily. And on first encounter, it was very spicy. I get something of a ginger, cinnamon accord. It wasn’t unpleasant, just unexpected and yes I said it… very spicy. So I was initially like “Uh-oh, this may not be for me”.
The subtlety of it began once I left the scent alone. I no longer tried to ‘figure it out’. I subsequently applied the perfume a few more times then proceed to forget about it. And that’s when the guarded magic of this Blue Lotus starts to unfurl. I was caught off guard by the most haunting wafts of exquisite Ylang Ylang and spicy/musty Nymphaea Caerulea, rising from my limbs and curling up in whorls around me.
Eager to capture this dazzling display a bit more concretely, I’d again put my nose to the arm and BAM, hit the spice wall again. Blue Lotus once more shuts its hallowed doors and keep rapacious sniffers from getting too close. So I saw where this was going.
One day, I wore it for yoga practice. I was enveloped in that same enthralling psychedelic display for over 90 minutes. Blue Lotus just BLOOMED and BLOOMED. But this is not the overbearing sillage of EDP. (Unwritten rule of yoga practice is never suffocate your Neighbours with perfume) The perfume oil stays close to the wearer. The people beside me on the mat seemed oblivious; only I was in heaven.
Blue Lotus is one jealous goddess of a perfume. I did my time and earned its secrets. Now I cannot live without it. I know I will come back to this perfume again and again. I wear it on most days, often several times throughout the day. It really is Divine.
