Incrível ! este perfume é uma obra de arte, denso, amadeirado, balsâmico, realmente dark ! é um crime comparar o one million com este perfume, Black Soul é uma delícia, refinado, maduro e com muita qualidade.

This fragrance smells like it has a hint of camel urine, I don’t think it’s a smell that many people know, but it’s terrifying that there are people who enjoy this. Dear lord of the seven heavens, send help.

Sweet. Dark. Spicy Cinnamon. Like PR – $1m?…..err no. This is however more similar to Police Wings for men (not the earlier flanker – Silver Wings) another nice sweet, dark, Cinnamon scent. I prefer Black Soul though as it is darker, a little more complex and lasts a little longer than Wings.
In it’s own right I don’t find myself reaching for Black Soul over my other daytime Autumn/Winter scents but my wife always compliments me when I wear Black Soul as do female colleagues at work (varying ages 25-35’ish).

This is a gorgeous deep, dark and refined fragrance.
Great for the night/cold weather. It’s an “Encre Noir type of perfume – ” to love or hate, nothing in between”.
I love it, my wife hates it. For me it’s an absolute masterpiece.
Upon initial spray, it comes on quite strong. It’s a sharp scent of smoky wood, resins, cinnamon and a hint of mint. After the opening the manly “atitude” remains but it becomes a more civilized frag, just a bit sweeter and letting you detect a very nice musk and a hint of exotic flowers. By now you may detect a vibe of 1 Million Intense – as some other reviewers stated – but more complex and agreeable.
In terms of longevity it’s not a beast but it is quite above average.
This Cologne smells expensive and charismatic.
It is indeed a very nice juice and one of a kind. It does not pretend to clone anything and I like it that way with its proper individuality.

Cool juice! It has a great horse stable vibe in the first half an hour, almost iconic, 70’s style mood, very brave, then dries down to a cardamon heavy, sweetish, modern and enjoyable aromatic scent. Good quality!! Like it!!

I love this juice. Smell is deep, somewhat dark and so refined. Just a great winter, spring, fall scent or nighttime scent. The mix of Cinnamon, cedar, resin and musk is so deep and layered, absolute masterpiece. I like Black Soul a little more than Black Soul Imperial, although they smell very similar, Imperial is a slightly lighter version.
Upon initial spray, it comes on quite strong. If you like only light citrus scents, this one is probably not for you.
One thing this Cologne doesn’t smell is cheap. Very nice juice here………

I initially bought Black Soul as a blind buy due to some of the positive postings, but must say I am very disappointed. It smell’s like a cheap perfume bought at a flea market with no silage or longevity what so ever! Cuba Gold with 1/3 the price is 100 times better than this. Safe your money and don’t bother with this junk!

I like this juice. A pleasant woody, slightly minty and spicy fragrance. Longevity is good. The dry-down reminds me of Altamir (which is the nicer fragrance) This is nothing really outstanding. It’s OK.

I deleted my previous review and I’m embarrassed to admit I reviewed the wrong fragrance! My previous review was extremely negative and although I’m still not impressed with Black Soul, it’s not as bad as I originally indicated. I purchased it last fall because I enjoy wearing cinnamon based colognes in the fall. Unfortunately I don’t get any cinnamon in this, it’s mostly a bubble gum sweet top with a musky base and drydown. I don’t get the comparison to 1 Million which has a much more detectable cinnamon. 1M is also is a beastmode in projection as we all know. Black Soul is packaged extremely nice in a metal decanter with shiny chrome top and inside a metal canister. However the scent is nothing special. It’s more like Cuba Royal than 1M except for the musky drydown. I don’t hate it and I don’t love this fragrance. It’s just meh. The longevity is 1 hour sillage and another hour or so of a skin scent. I give it a 6/10.

What a gorgeous bottle and canister – the black lacquered bottle juxtaposed with its chromed features exudes class – one of the best presentations I’ve ever seen. However folks, that’s where the good news ends. The price is cheap for a reason, it smells cheap to me – cheap as in low quality ingredients and a largely uninspiring blob of balsamic notes. Moreover the longevity is not much to write home about as it fades away too quickly and all traces have disappeared from my skin within 3 to 4 hours. It’s clear to me where the most of the budget was spent on this. It’s overrated and I simply can’t recommend it. I was originally looking forward to use it but now I can’t wait to finish my bottle and move on….

i will buy this as an alternative to V&R spicebomb.
Im still very sorry because of the reformualtion that have happened on the original spicebomb.
UPDATE: so i’ve bought it and im severely DIS-APPOIN-TED <<< HAH see what i did there?
anyways this is not what i’ve sampled at the department store what i mean is that i can hardly smell any notes as in the one in the tester and it evaporates too quickly and the projection: NONE
could it be that its batch dates to 2012
i’ll never know. But for closure’s sake i’ll say that it’s probably its characteristic. Some frags are born strong and some are born weak END OF.
UPDATE 2: I went to the dept. store and the salesperson smelt it and told me it was OK so that was a load off which leaves me with one conclusion that weak perfumes are weak.

**blind buy.. and its awfull right off the bottle , there’s just something that makes you me think ” who would wear this ??” so I wouldnt recommend you smell the nozzle as an indication to what this fragrance is all about.
When you spray it , there is no sign of that horid lurking outter bottle smell. Instead theres a powerfull and un-usual scent. Very minty, Not entirely a bad scent which gets better “easier” to capture each element as time goes on and you find yourself trying to smell deeper and longer to discover all the hidden scents oozing off your skin. I think its the hebal effect of the Tolu 😀
After 30 mins youre left with a very woodsie, Minty ( not fresh mint, but rather a dirty, heavy mint), very rich spicy, warm, definatley masculine aroma.
I think the cinnamon plays a big role in carrying the mint into the more woody musky scents & masks them well.
After a good hour if you smell your skin , that-there is the Masterpiece of this fragrance !!!
The saffron, teroli and lemon blossom pick this deep and heavy scent up a notch to a very pleasing day dreamy almost fresher level, if only for a moment and then its gone !! overpowered by the musk & wood.
This is a great & complex frangrance with many elements that weirdly work together.Well done to the nose of Alexandra Carlin
I can picture this frangrance on other people, but not on me . Its just too murky and dark , maybe thats why its called BLACK SOUL !!!
will keep a bottle in the colection just because its so interesting at a low price

recently i bought black soul Lapidus & Longevity is very poor i guess reformulated . i bought 2-3 years ago was quite different, the scent quite lasting and base notes i could smell little balmy. The base notes i couldnt smell balmy anymore of the current Black soul! what a waste fragrance

Smells like warm mint, but very cheap smell,
not classy, i don’t like it one bit. I feel that every
lapidus fragrance i tried reminds me of a car freshner,
not a fragrance, i hate myself for buying them crap.

La mayoría de los comentarios dicen que es igual a One Million, la verdad es que tienen cierta similitud, pero Black Soul es.mejor, menos unixes , más oscura , más varonil, más espaciada , un gran perfume sin duda

I can certainly see how Black soul may polarize opinions. If however you are one of those lucky enough to love this fragrance , then you will enjoy this scent for ages. Mugler Pure Havane was the reference point for gourmand winter scents by me in the past. Now, after wearing Black Soul for a few days, its safe to say there is a new king on the throne. What gives Black Soul the edge is a hard to define element in the drydown that makes for a uniquely pleasing and unusual effect. Well rounded, dynamic, always interesting and a bargain at todays prices. Good stuff !

It deserves it´s name, it is dark deep in it´s soul. It is very sweet, but there is something behind that sweetness, something sharp and slightly evil hidden. I love these kind of fragrances, ambiguous and hard to figure out, sweet but bitter, lovely but cruel, warm and cold.

  23. :

@mpbrown – yes. I feel similarity with PR 1 Million, which suits women better.

    This is so great.
BLACK SOUL (TL) definitely deserves the ‘black’ in it’s name. It’s a dark & smooth sweet/liquore/mint styled scent. This one and BLACK EXTREME POUR HOMME (TL) feel like cousins… Not the same smell, but are playing in the same scent area. Definitely check one out if you like the other.
The opening has a very subtle liquorice opening (not as prominent as BLUE SUGAR, thank god!), with a nice resin/mint added. Dries to more of the same.
It comes in a beautiful black & silver metal cannister, which reveals a high-quality and expensive flask. One of the most classy packages I’ve come across.
Both BLACK SOUL (TL) and BLACK EXTREME POUR HOMME (TL) are two of my absolute favorite dark evening scents.
    ———————————————
    SILLAGE: perfect
    LONGEVITY: very good
    SCENT: excellent
    BOTTLE: excellent! (High class)
    VALUE FOR MONEY: goodOVERALL: 9/10
———————————————NOTE: This smells nothing like BLACK SOUL EMPERIAL (TL), which I can’t bear… so don’t be scared off if that one made you gag. This one is mint/liquore-cool.

i got my 100ml bottle and im totally loving this much better than 1 million , its more cinnamon more rich more plum cake deeper richer scent ,definitely going to be buying more bottles of this .

  26. :

Obviously a 1 Million clone. The most striking differences are Black Soul’s chewing gum top note and a minty-spicy, less sweet undercurrent.
If you like 1 Million, but don’t want to smell exactly like all the other 999.999 guys who wears it, Black Soul is a great and inexpensive alternative. It is more fun and I like it better than the “original”. Perfect for a night out among the younger crowd.

I have to give an honest review of this and how it reacted on my skin. Please don’t buy this thinking you are getting one million cause your not and don’t buy this thinking it’s better than one million cause it isn’t. Don’t buy this thinking it’s going to last longer on your skin cause it won’t. Truthfully, this does smell a little like one million but this is way mintier and really this only lasted on my skin for about 4 hours and that’s surprising coming from a lapidus fragrance. If you don’t have the cash for one million this maybe a safe bet for you but if it’s one one million you are wanting than save up and get what you really want.

One of the real deals. Very multi-faceted.
Be careful when wearing it in hot climate, though. The tea note can get overpowering in a stale way.

if u like dirty english and the drier types of smell this is a good buy too. this starts out sweet and similar to dirty english but they both have a very smoky rich type of smell in the drydown

  34. :

    5 out of 5

this is a phenomenal scent with a nice rich masculine feel and really does a GREAT job with good sillage and a really nice aroma
the drydown is less sweet than one million and instead it becomes richer and has drier woods and more masculine ingredients than one million (one million smells nice in top and middle notes and then just gets sweet and unisex) this one adds medjul dates and raisins in the middle notes and the camphorwood and drier spices give it a rich aromatic feel and make it MUCH better and it lasts a good 8 hours and projects nicely so the power of the scent is just right
this is something you WILL like if u buy blind it will make u want to throw away everything else u own

From my two tests in the shop, I can only describe an initial first impression. I was greeted with an instant, almost off putting bubble gum scent. However it started to change into a sweet woody aroma. Apparently a cousin of Paco Rabanne – “One Million.”
For now, Black Soul has only pricked my curiosity – that is all. I would not add it to my current collection among the many other more recent releases on the shelves.
Not with standing that, I find the Ted Lapidas House to innovative, creative and interesting.
Somehow I feel I will re visit this one.

I’ve got both versions of Black Soul (BS and BS Imperial)and love them both.
This one is little bit lighter, than Imperial, and seems to me, better. Similiar to 1 Million, but more herbal and spicy. Longevity is rather shorter than 1Million, but still very good (about 8 hours on my skin).
My rate – 4/5… Overall – very good stuff.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

I bought this blindly, and have no regrets whatsoever. I read all of the comments describing this as a “One Million” clone. It is indeed in the same vein as that scent, but I wouldn’t label it a cheap copy. Black Soul is more camphorous and spicy and lacks the fruity synthetic bubble gum of One Million, to my nose. Instead this comes across as a more herbal cousin. In my opinion it is more mature, refined, and sensual. It has about the same sillage and longevity as Paco Rabanne’s creation, but is softer and less shouty. Those of the opposite sex seem to love it. Of course younger audiences will like O.M. more. To those folks who love One Million, I would recommend you test this one before buying.

I tested this juice yesterday and my initial impression was very confusing. At first, my nose detected something that I have smelt before, like some mainstream fragrance with a lot of neroli and orange blossom. Then, my mind brought the image that I was looking for: a cross between One Million by Paco Rabbane and Altamir by Ted Lapidus.
If you see the notes breakdown of One Million, ALtamir and Black Soul, you can see the relation between this three scents: woods, spices and florals.
In my point of view, Black Soul is more in the floral-spicy side of the street beacuse of the big accent in flowers like neroli and orange blossom and in spices like cinnamon and cardamom.
At the initial spray, you got the same “sweet bubblegum” smell of One Million, but this top notes fades very quickly (1 hour max). Then you got a lot of neroli, orange blossom and some resins (tolu balsam?). A very flowery heart mixed with cardamom, a bit of cinnamon and some resins. This stage is very sweet, tasty and projects like a beast for 2 or 3 hours. Then, at the base, it seems like all the resins, spices and other notes were faded away, leaving you with a blast of sweet neroli with musk. Sadly, no prominent woods were detected to balance that sweet mess.
What surprised me of the drydown of Black Soul is the fact that smell the same way as the opening of Altamir (same “übersweet” neroli smell), so if you are a man, and you love neroli and your favorite fragrance are Altamir by Ted Lapidus or Fleur Du Male by Jean Paul Gaultier or any unisex frag, this is for you.
About the comparison with One Million, I say yes, but just the opening of both are alike. The rest of Black Soul is just the “Lapidus trademark”.
    Projection: Great!
    Sillage: Awesome
    Longevity 9-10 hours +
Recommended for young and mature crowd that are into “flowery-spicy/unisex” fragrances.
    8/10

a more mature version spicy of 1 Million with the same intensity and longevity.
You think it smells like 1 million exactly until you test them side by side, Black Soul has deeper spice.

its similar to 1 million in its mid notes and dry down. but it has got more bubble gum like feel. it is heavy rich an dark. good silage and longevity. not a unique fragrance but a nice one.

  49. :

1 Million without the bubble gum, tutti-frutti opening.
I Kinda like it very much and have a great sillage and longevity!

  50. :

    5 out of 5

What an amazing fragrance this is! Its opening is heavy with spice and wood. At first there is a sharp, camphorous, aromatic quality, not unlike cloves or pepper – which I find most appealing.
The woodiness which is almost smoky at first, makes me think of Lapsang Souchong tea or a handful of smouldering pencil shavings. I once owned a bamboo flute, which had been burnt inside as part of its manufacture and which had the same kind of smell.
The complex combination of spices and woods make this very warm, intense and frankly, most unusual. As the fragrance develops and the woods and spices start to fade the musk becomes more obvious, yet only in a subtle way. It lasts quite well and a single tiny spritz from a tester was still detectable on my arm after two hours.
It is very different to any fragrance I currently own and I will definitely add it to my wish list.

  51. :

    4 out of 5

I tested this fragance today. Obviously this one was created for the night. The opening is dark and beautiful, and after 30 minutes developes a strong warm scent with the mint as a dominant spice.
