Description

Mystery,
Terrestrial and celestrial,
Charming.

All is extreme in this combination of heat and cold. The subtle association between the coolness of the rosemary of Morocco, the true harmony of the nutmeg of Indonesia and a passionate touch of absolute of Liatrix of America delicately associated with a deep amber.

Between sky and earth. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Francois Cabos.

An unusual, interesting and mysterious fougere composition, this perfume is probably what a vampire or a warlock would probably smell like. The perfume opens with a mossy citrus and patchouli and moves to a prominent spicy heart that is comprised of nutmeg and rosemary. The perfume dries into a powdery ambergris, vetiver and a rather unusual liatris flower note. Absolutely strange and bewitching this is a masculine leaning composition with moderate sillage, projection and longevity. Very evocative and nice to wear when you are watching a vampire movie or reading a similarly themed book. Enjoy!

Ideal person–Jack Grimaldi (Romeo Is Bleeding).
Ideal place–Alone at twilight, near the sea, late winter / early spring, pondering the pros and cons of a massive gambling loss you just incurred, but in a purely philosophical way. It’s too late to plan your next move. There’d be no point.
General associations–Clean, depressing (not in a particularly intriguing way), short-lived promise, the level-headedness that one may acquire after devastating failure, flat affect, dark places near pure water, desaturated indicolite, anhedonia, the vague memory of those good intentions that led to hell, a rake that doesn’t have the power anymore and is just about ready to admit that to himself.
Black Purple is advertised as something a vampire might wear. This may be an accurate enough assessment, but one thing needs to be made quite clear; vampires aren’t always compelling. Sometimes, they’re just plain old draining. That IS what they do, after all; suck ya’ dry. I guess one could argue that a copy-serf at Atelier Flou was so honest in their writing that it turned out to be a form of obfuscation. I was expecting a sexy goth but a down-at-heel also-ran showed up at my door instead.
One of the biggest problems with Black Purple is that it seems entirely composed of heart notes. The scent opens with some bombast–a verdant eruption of hell yeah–that made me hopeful. Alas, the sillage falls off of a cliff after about five to ten minutes and I was left with a soapy, medicinal, cold, grey-green slice of weepy indecision. I wish that the nutmeg in it would rush forward with a torch to light the way, or that the vetiver would sink lower than the other notes and wrap you in a villain’s cloak. It’s a shame that neither happens; each component of Black Purple just plods along with the others, not a one of them knowing where to go and none of them appearing to care that much. They’re all just sittin’ on the dock of the bay….
Every person is different, of course, and this scent might just be reacting with my body in unfortunate ways. That being said, if you’re looking for a fragrance that’s more cold than warm and certainly something of a bummer, Black Purple could be for you.

very impressive fragrance, it’s purple and kind of dark. at the begining i didn’t like it but later on on a plotter it smelled quite purple relaxing green with hint of dark. i guess im going to get one because one of the shops in here is doing a great sale, i guess im getting it for 100$. but as it’s said the silage and longevity isn’t that good, so i guess on that price that im getting it is ok.

Second time that I put my review here… 😉
    Smells like a outdated cigarette.
Lasts a lot of hours but don’t projects and it’s light (like everything from this brand).
    Don’t waste your money.
    scent: 3/10
    longevity: 6/10
    sillage: 2/10

a complete dissapointment -horriable scent from ateliar flou-if you like to smell like you smoked 800 cloves cigars, That’s the way it smells as soon as you spray it.then it calms down to a sweet scent that’s the amber you can also smell a litte rosemary at the begininng.from a scale from one to ten-i’ll give this a 2.
