I have been given a LARGE bag of samples from Corkscrewcurly (many thanks) and this was the second I chose to sample (The first being Baccarat Rouge 540).
I’ve read some reviews of other fragrances in their catalogue and had hopes that it would be nice, or at the least, wearable.
It is utterly vile and repugnant. Once a quick, small spritz was applied, I smelt my arm and ……. yeah. I don’t think I’ve ever *flinched* at a fragrance before – but this was a first. I can’t tell you what the notes are, the only smell I associated with what was on my arm was Guano.
Sorry – this isn’t so much a pass, more a run away and jumping into soap infused water with a scrubbing brush until it is gone. If you like it or wear it, good on you. Me? No, Just….NO!

I bought a travel srpay (extrait de parfum) of this fragrance … I put on my arm 2 sprays, extremely durable, very concentrated, i live in hot and humid weather, in this climate I do not recommend it at all, almost a month ago I have and I have not wanted to apply it again, the extrait de parfum is practically unwearable, it is not clean, it is not sexy, it is not pleasant for most people, it is not easy to get rid of it once you apply it , it smells dusty and old, I do not doubt that it is a piece of art, but definitely few people on the planet can use something like that and get it right … If you want to try it I recommend buying it in Eau de parfum, much better than extrait de parfum , if you want to be able to have any chance of using it, no doubt you need a minor concentration of this strange piece

I find this to be a rather unpleasant smell, largely due to my inherent dislike of the smell of bananas. Bat by Zoologist is, for me, all banana. It smells like an over-ripe banana that is sitting amongst a puddle of rotten bananas in a larger, earthy compost pit. The damp soil is definitely there, but it plays second fiddle to the banana all the way through on my skin. I don’t like to use the word ‘repulsive,’ but this scent did repulse me in the strictest use of the definition. It’s a very unique scent – I can’t really understand why anybody would want to wear it; for me if I smelt this on someone I would quickly try and leave their presence. The longevity is unquestionable (which for me was unfortunate) and it definitely draws comments from people. I have worked in caves and in close proximity to bats before and this scent, at times, has transported me back to specific moments of my life, which is why I would never throw it away. But in terms of wearability I think it’s too pungent and lacks the fleeting, delicate qualities that I associate with bats. Definitely give it a sniff if you get the chance – it’s something unlike anything else.

    Day number 3 : Bat
Bat has difficult personality. My very first contact with Bat was unexpected. Black animal came from dark cave and told me story about Bat’s wild life. Earth, soil, fresh fruits, jungle… Unfortunately Bat disappeared fast with his stories. During a day he appeard for a few seconds just to remind me he is still there. Suddenly , only for a short moment and quite quiet. Bat could be one of my best friends , he is daring and beautiful but I like them more louder and extroverts and But is missing that.
    Scent : 10/10
    Longevity : 10/10
Sillage : 4/10 ( this is main problem with Zoologist ).

Wow what an amazing scent! I can’t believe some of the comments saying that is not at all wearable?? This is just as challenging as some of the private blends IMO if not less challenging! You will smell like a bat cave but a well sanitised bat cave 😉
    9/10

I really love this one. Forget the name, forget the bats, forget the zoo: Just feel the smell of the nature.
Cons: This is not an eau the parfum, it’s weaker.

This was the perfume boutique’s owner’s favorite of the Zoologist line (he was a male) and this was also my husband’s favorite (however, for my husband, he only smelled elephant, bat, panda, and civet). Super different smell, and one that I did NOT think my husband would like at all. I thought he was going to think it smelled like a stuffy old room, but I was definitely wrong.
**HAHAHA, I just asked him to give me anything for a descriptor of this fragrance, and he said “I don’t know.. warm orange juice?” whereee did that come from? Oh wait. I just looked at the pyramid and there’s a bunch of fruity notes within the fragrance. I guess he has a better nose than I gave him credit for.

I have smelled five perfumes from Zoologist so far: Civet, Bat, Elephant, Macaque, and Hummingbird. I bought four samples and was given an extra for free (thanks Victor!)
Bat is definitely very good, to my nose, and I think I would wear it out (however, keep in mind that I am an eccentric art student). To me, it smells like dirt, even rich compost, with worms crawling in it. The kind that produces the happiest and healthiest of plants.
My mother has gardened since I was little, and we have a compost pile in the back of our yard that I used to go digging for bugs in. (again, I’m eccentric).
This smells like that soil- rich, damp, and mineral-y. There is also a note of fruits, slightly overripe, as well as a small amount of a piercing green note that makes me think of galbanum, even though it’s not listed in the notes. To me, this perfume is the perfect combination of fresh and grounded, sweet and leathery, wet and dry. I truly love it. However, I do know that one of the reasons I’m so partial to this perfume is for nostalgia’s sake. Not everyone is going to like the smell of compost like I do. If you’re into obscure or strange scents, give this a sniff! But if you want something more pretty or conventionally pleasing, I would suggest Hummingbird instead.

Hahaha, was having fun reading reviews…
…and wondering, would majority of “scent note detectors” really figured out, what the real notes are, if they were not listed? I am pretty sure that nope 🙂
A rose consist of more than 250 different fragrant substances, yet it is recognized as a rose smell 🙂
A SMELL IS A SCENT. No smell consist of just one single molecule – if you don’t believe me, ask a chemist 🙂

Huh. It smells exactly like the environment a bat would live in…especially the damp earth and banana. That being said, I can’t imagine wearing this as a perfume. I do like a little bit of “pretty” in my fragrances, and on my skin this is anything but pretty. It is linear on me. THe banana and earth are strong…but not wearable. Love the concept of these perfumes!

This aromatic scent effect feels safe and familiar then as the fragrance evolves; the entire thing unfolds into something of an enigma. Bat Zoologist opens with banana that is green and slightly unripe. The peel fizzes with an effervescence that is so fine, the bubbles form delicate olfactory foam. Myhr increases tropical fruit’s fizz as well as adding freshness and spice. A Green note pervades the fragrance and reads like clean mountain air inhaled at high altitude. Leather’s facet makes an appearance along with a soft musky note that adds a poudre touch to Bat’s base.
Here is where things go a little bit Twin Peaks. This odour shifts between the scent of wet earth and ambergris and is a big contributor to the olfactory make-up of Bat. Another interesting element is the “musky accord.” It’s layered over the top of the earthy accord and smells candy, slightly sweety-like and it has a classical nuance. This base is found in many classic men fragrances. I’m sure all the major perfume houses have their own in-house bases that can mimic the effect of Bat. Whether intentional or not, the fragrance settles down to a more palatable sandalwood and vetiver base supported by musk. Bat may not be to everyone’s liking and it’s probably not the first fragrance I would recommend to someone who is new to niche fragrances.

Ok, keep in mind this: It´s a love or hate fragrance. I personally love it. This is one of the most unique scents I know. The dump, earthy, cavernous vibe of it, with the banana addition, is simply fantastic. However, one thing is to appreciate a particular scent as an artistic creation, other is to wear it. I personally don´t think this would be a scent I´d wear easily.

everybody keeps going on about how ‘innovative’ and ‘original’ these fragrances are but OMG these concepts are SO LITERAL. Curious George eating a banana. That’s what should be on the bottle. It’s THAT interesting.

I wore this on Halloween (seemed appropriate) but forgot to leave a review of it then. I agree with corkscrewcurly’s assessment that this is not a perfume but it is a SMELL. It seemed right for Halloween, as a novelty, but I can’t imagine anyone wearing this in earnest daily. The soil accord was very mentholated to my nose, almost like patchouli or camphor notes. Medicinal. The fruity notes poked through the eucalyptus-like soil accord and that’s when things got even weirder. I mean, yes it does feel like you’re hanging out in a dark moist cave. But it’s certainly not anything I’d call beautiful or approachable.
Still looking forward to sampling more from Zoologist. The descriptions are so intriguing and even though I don’t find Bat at all wearable, I love the risk taking and story telling it delivers.

Very moist dark earth initially, and then lightly floral-fruity follow up. The damp earth scent stays throughout but softens. Oakmoss, green notes, and the suade alternate with the fruited aspects. Other specific notes like fig and banana are more obscure to me. Tonka and wood/resin notes are even more subdued to me, so altogether this registers as a light, spring, “dirt forward”–even “Iris-like” scent, good for spring and summer. I will admit it’s not my favorite of the line, and the dirt note catches in my throat and is not my cup of tea. I quite like Camel which is at the other end of the spectrum. An interesting atmospheric essence which captures “bat life.” Nice to visit the cave, but not to stay….

This is fresh earth to me. Nothing more, nothing less. I like that concept, but there might be cheaper alternatives. Moreover on my skin this is a rather one dimensional fragrance. I pass.

TRULY astounding. I got a complete sample set from Zoologist, and was itching to try all of them… I’ve been limiting them to one per day so I can truly experience them all. So far, I’ve done Moth, Nightingale, Panda, and now Bat… and this one truly captured my heart. I love a fragrance that can take an ordinary accord (fruity) and really go with it and turn it into something compelling.
I’m familiar with dirt/damp accords, since I play around with a lot of Demeter and Christopher Brosius fragrances… but this one uses them in a sly way to really make a concoction that’s incredible.
The sweetness of the fruit notes are perfectly curbed by the spicy grounding, resulting in an overall complex experience that I highly recommend. It’s definitely my favorite so far, because it’s the only Zoologist fragrance that hasn’t instantly reminded me of something else. Upon introspection, Bat reminds of Hilary Duff’s With Love because of the strange woody fruit vibe… but this is so much deeper, more intense, and more compelling. So the comparison is a mere anecdote.

As a guy who likes freshies and floral perfumes, I don’t find Bat offensive but quite intriguing. It is probably one of the most interesting yet inoffensive perfume of the whole line up from Zoologist. I do have to agree that the opening is kind of strong to some but once it passes, the banana and dampen cavern feel starts to show up. At first, the fragrance gives off a cool and wet vibe but as it dries down, there is a fuzzy and warm feel to it. The fruits, resin, and woody notes almost eliminate the wet cavernous vibe and transfrom the dry down into a very sensual and sweet musky note.
PS. I do notice a difference between 2 variants of Bat that I own (2.5mL sample vs 11mL travel). The difference being the 2.5mL has more apparent clean notes of soil, fruits, sandalwood, and herbs while the 11mL has more busy notes of musk, leather, and spices. I’m not sure if there is a reformulation.

The review below sums it up perfectly.
I can’t give this a ‘dislike’, as it executes on the concept and promise brilliantly and perfectly, but I can’t tolerate this on my skin.
How cool would it be if some classrooms could use Virtual Reality and Zoologist scents to create immersive experiences for biology students??
Exploring and observing bats in their natural habitats, when real excursion is not an option, this would bring you as close as possible to the real thing.
Same thing for Elephant, and it’s grassy, open fields
    Dragonfly, for its humid ponds…
I’m about to try Panda, but think I might keep it on a tissue for a journey of the imagination, rather than wear it.

Somewhere there’s a subculture of wildlife enthusiasts decked out in safari attire, who would be moved to tears by the Zoologist line. But for the average fan of perfumery, this is challenging to say the least. If we’re to grade these extreme, conceptual scents based on how realistic they are, Bat is completely worthy of all its award winning praise. Whether or not it’s wearable however is a very different story. I was at a bat cave exhibit at the Osaka zoo a few months ago, so the olfactory memory is fresh in my mind. Bat is dead on, without any feces thankfully. Imagine someone shoveling a blanket of musky, cavernous, soil onto your face. Like being buried alive somewhere on some spooky tropical island. Abrasive, daring, and very off putting. The damp earth and ravaged fruit salad border on offensive, but if Bat has any saving grace surely it’s from the fruit. Banana isn’t the most orthodox note so it’s kind of cool to smell it in a fragrance. Here it seems both bright and muted, perhaps because the fig is stealing some of the show, I’m not sure. I’d imagine banana isn’t the easiest thing to pull off considering how often people fail at recreating it in candy and sweets, and I think most people don’t want to smell like banana in the first place. Either way Bat is without a doubt as unique as everyone says it is. I have nothing but respect for the artistry and craftsmanship involved, but never again would I allow it on my skin.

I knew that a perfume called “Bat” wouldn’t be the most wearable, pretty perfume, but I was still curious about this. I think bats are super cute animals and I imagined this to smell like damp earth and overripe fruit. Unfortunately, this is even less wearable to me than I could have imagined. Please don’t downvote my review, I’m so sorry for what I’m going to say, but I have to be honest here… In the beginning it smells a bit similar to opening a compost bin with bananas in it. Then, it becomes very earthy, mineralic, like rotting woods and a damp basement and soon – I’m so sorry – it starts to smells urinous. You know that smell when you walk by a public urinal or under a bridge that gets missused as a toilet a lot? That. That and very ripe fruit, a tropical mix of passion fruit, peach, pineapple and other fruits.
I seem to be alone with that impression, maybe Bat just really doesn’t work with my skin. I can just say I usually don’t have the problem of fragrances smelling like pee.
Over the time, it calms down a little and moves more to the expected earth/fruit direction, but still… Not pleasant.
I usually test fragrances more than once before I review them, but I really don’t feel like trying this a second time. I feel a bit sorry because I like bats, but if that’s what their caves smell, I don’t want to smell like them. Oh well, I like dogs and don’t want to smell like one either, haha.
This is certainly unique, but it does not work for me at all. Interesting idea, worth a try, but maybe don’t sample it for the first time before you have to go out.

    The Artistry
    -Wonderfully imagined, complex, and unique.
    Wearability
    – Could never wear this out because I don’t know under what scenario I’d want to leave home smelling like the inside of a cave.
Overall: I appreciate it but also appreciate that I wouldn’t want to wear it.

After all the hype and waiting 2 years to finally try it, Bat has proven to be worth the wait. Instead of the banana that others have mentioned I actually get fig and other overripe fruits combined with an almost green scent that is indicative of a bat flying through the forest to get something to eat. I can smell the soil of the forest floor as well. And then suddenly it changes and it becomes damp soil and a mineral rock smell that I really like. It’s been an hour and the fragrance has vacillated between the bat flying out for a meal and then bringing it back to his cave. I love the journey this fragrance takes me on and even though I don’t like fig or the accord that smells like fig to me, maybe it is overripe banana, I find myself very much liking this perfume. I still have the entire line to smell and Camel was an absolute fail but I could actually see myself getting a travel size of this depending on what happens with the other ones. These are definitely more than simple perfumes, they are works of art and well worth checking out. Agree that the sprayer does disperse way too much so spray a bit lightly or it’s easy to get overwhelmed at first. Oh, projection isn’t huge on this one, I would say less than arm’s length but a few more sprays might solve that.

This scent is a fruity/earthy/musk scent. It begins with a beautiful tropical fruit accord and what smells like banana leaf. I usually hate tropical fruits in scents but this is sweet and nectarous – it smells of mixed fruits, but I can identify banana as the strongest. This first stage reminds me of those slightly rotting trays of fruits you see in butterfly houses – nectarous and somewhat sun warmed. The fruit is paired with a dark, wet, fertile soil scent. This smells like the fortified black top soil from plant nurseries. The fruit begins to fade to the background, and the geosmin dirtiness is joined by a strong dank basement scent of mineral clay. I’m a potter, so the scent of clay is an evocative one for me. At this point, my family told me I smelled like a basement, I took it as a compliment (I love that smell). As the scent progresses, it becomes more about musky fur and “bat” leather. I love it! It is quite strong, and I feel as though the official Zoologist sample sprayers dispense far too much product. But if you spray lightly, this is weird, beautiful and wearable!

  26. :

Unwearable for me. It smells heavily musky – it does reflect the name of the fragrance well since you can connect the smell with soil and bat cave; perhaps because of this it is just not for me. At the beginning I thought it was mostly metaphorical with the name of bat!

  27. :

    5 out of 5

So by now, I have tried all 10 of my Zoologist samples but havent really lived with a single one yet over time, so this is just my first impression of Bat.
All I get from this is very strong, earthy up-turned damp soil, but I like it. This actually smells like real earth, like I am holding a handful of soil up to my nose. It’s very real, like no other frag I have ever smelled.
I do not get any banana, woods, or any other notes.
The damp soil is so strong, it masks everything else out.
The sillage is very good, I can smell this a good 4 feet away on my shirt. It also stays on my skin a very long time. It’s still going strong the next day.
I never changes on my skin, it stays a very linear scent from application into the next day; just damp soil.
On me, it does not take me on an adventure, ever changing, different notes emerging over time.
This is not a perfume where I am trying to detect the notes, it’s just one scent. It’s a bit too strange to ware to the office or to class, or any public place were people are close. You are bound to get some strange reactions; “have you been digging in the dirt somewhere?” LOL
With all that said, I still want to buy a whole bottle, this is so pleasantly earthy, real and different.

Got this in a sample pack I ordered, honestly my least favorite of the Zoologist fragrances as of yet. I was expecting more earthy notes, but this is straight booze and fruit to my nose. Still very much worth trying out, and I can see this working on the right person, but the dark fruit with not much else isn’t for me.

    Bravo! Wow, stunning…
Okay, here’s the thing. Back in the adventurous college days in Cuba, me and a bunch of friends used to go in the wilderness, explore and sleep in caves packed with bat colonies, in the middle of nowhere. Those where incredible years, unforgettable… When I first read about this particular fragrance I was so intrigued, I wanted it to take me back to those those times… Well, It did.
This is probably the most creative perfume I have ever smelled. I understand 100% those who don’t apreciate it because it is definitively not for everybody, this is for those who see perfumery as a form of art, which to me it is. And/or those who are very familiar with the more complex smells of nature, which I adore. And finally those who are daring, adventurous, with enough confidence to bypass people’s puzzling opinions about the smell… Fun!
The damped dirt note is predominant at every single stage, but there is a lot more going on. There are some fruits, green notes, there are musks… woods?!… all of it easily detectable to my nose, each one making appearance at the exact needed time. But we barely leave the cave, if anything just a short fly around the fruit trees.
I will be wearing this one quite a bit in the coming weeks and I hope that the sample will be sufficient to make me love it enough to invest in a full bottle (something tells me it will)
Definitively worth to smell, caution do not blind buy. No matter what you expect this will catch you out of guard, trust me.
    Enjoy!

    Ummm…
So, this is going to be a negative review (which I hate doing, but feel it may be useful to some people).
I’ve tested this from an official sample.
To me, this is NOT a perfume. It’s a smell. And it’s incredibly pungent, with massive sillage – and the longevity… Well, I’ve scrubbed my hand several times and used rubbing alcohol to try to remove it; whilst it’s not as offensive as when first sprayed, I can still smell it.
This smells of damp earth, with an incredibly searing and shrieking chemical top note which pierces my sinuses. Rarely am I utterly repulsed by a perfume (I LOVE Serge Noire and wear it) but I am completely beaten by Bat.
Oof, no – I am genuinely happy for people who can wear this, but it is not for me!

  31. :

Damp tropical cave. Lol. Sounds awful, smells *incredible*; one of the most unique scents I’ve ever smelled without being ugly and offputting. Tart, slightly sweet tropical fruits and herbaceous fig leaves over damp, moist earth. Very earthy. But also with a piercing quality; it’s both natural, green, and earthy… and sharp and synthetic at the same time. Naturalistic modern. Not sure if I want to smell like this all the time but it’s a really impressive fragrance. You will never have to worry about smelling like anyone else!
(OMG someone just said it smells like ammonia around here! People!!! WTF is wrong with your noses????? To be honest though, it does have some serious sillage – it pays to be careful when wearing.)

Earthy heaven, Exceptional, and Potent are three best words to describe this fabulous gem. First of all i would like to express my gratitude to perfumer Ellen Covey for this wounder full creation. Masterpiece IMO.
So lets start the journey to Bat Cave. imagine the first kickoff smell of damp earthy moss that would be dominant for first 15-20 minutes then fruity elements come up with Vetiver in the back ground this part will last for the next 3-4 hours after that it settles down to a sweet yet dark concoction that is very hard to explain. Damp soil, Banana, Musk, green notes and vetiver are prominent, Sandalwood, Fig and Myrrh just shows a hint of each.
    Overall: 9/10
Scent: 9/10 (it deserves 10/10 but i cut 1 point because of sweetness that can be offending to some individuals)
Performance: 10/10 performs like beast. easily 12 + hours on skin, lasts for days on clothes.
Uniqueness: 10/10 (the most unique smell i ever put my nose on)
Highly recommended for those who want to collect unique fragrances.

I love and admire bats, but they kind of terrify me in real life. I’m in awe of their echolocation and cute fur and weird faces, and completely repulsed by their ‘hands’. Swooping past me they startle me out of my skin.
And I also admire and am terrified of Bat. So that’s apt.
It’s breathtaking, brilliant, berserk, and batshit crazy – quite literally. I love a strong ‘fume … yet the initial gust of damp earth, humus, must, mold, mildew, mushrooms, old organic mush in this knocked me right back on my feet. It’s HUGE. It’s a giant megabat with a wingspan 9 feet across. It’s a wonder of chemistry – I’ve never smelled anything out of a bottle in captivity which REEKS of nature so fully and completely. It’s a jungle in there, in such teeming biological strength you might be overcome. It’s not that this smells gothic or bloodthirsty or really stinks unpleasantly. There is just so much of it, in all directions.
I was terrified of this before trying it for totally different reasons: the banana, because ripe banana smell makes me gag, any rotting fruit makes me gag, so perfumed banana with fig would be my personal olfactory hellscape. But the banana in here is, like everything else from Zoologist, so green and natural and funky-real that it barely registered. Instead I was left reeling by the intensity of the soil stuff. It’s a whole ecosystem in smell. Worm casts? bat guano? wet limestone? fungi? thousands and thousands of subspecies? it all seemed likely. My brain was dizzy with all its complexity and possibilities. But … as a smell, on me … it is so damn wild and fruit-heavy it made me catch my breath, and catch it so hard that it almost made my gorge rise. Truly this is astonishing stuff. But I just can’t wear it.
Yes, as it calms down you get some very velvety-fuzzy sandalwood, leather, etc – too much vetiver and forest floor still for me to enjoy, but as with other Zoologists, it’s all fascinating and evolves into several different kinds of animal over its life. There are odd moments where it is almost cuddly and fragrant. If you are at all interested in scent, what it can do to you and what it can evoke, you must try it … but be prepared for a fright or two. Do not even CONSIDER blind buying this one. It is a polariser for sure.
It is obviously an absolutely perfect choice for Halloween!

    VAMPIRE BAT CAVE
The scene is set when you wear this fragrance. We’re in Martinique or perhaps Jamaica in the Caribbean. Night has fallen and we’re exploring a cave because we’re zoologists We’re searching for bats. The tincture of soil is the first scent to reach my nose. It’s a perfectly recreated smell of dirt; like wet earth after a rain. This dirt note can also be likened to the earthy dirt in Voleur de Roses by Artisan Parfumeur. In the deep darkness of the cave, we hear the flutter of bat wings and their little shrieks.
This scent’s earthiness and greenery reminds me of South America, of Colombia or Brazil, where you do find many a bat cave. The exotic tropical fruit scents are, in my opinion, here to provide this scent with a sweetness as well as a decidedly unisex touch. Without the ripe fruit, the whole thing would be heavy duty earthy and musky and more of a cologne for men. As it is, though, the scents of fruit mélange with nondescript fruit (to my nose this is a cocktail of pineapple, guava, papaya, citrus and most of all banana) is more feminine and pleasant.
The fruit in addition to the vanilla and tonka bean note in the dry down gives this scent the right sort of unisex body. If you enjoy fruit scents – but not too sweet- this is going to be for you. I was sure they also added this fruitiness for the sake of the theme. Bats in the tropical regions of the Caribbean and South America do love to suck on fruit – namely bananas that grow on trees. They feed on the nectar of fruit that grow on trees. Their little bat fangs are perfect for biting into little fruit. The bats feed on the fruit trees and return to the depths of the cave. So while we usually associate bats with vampire bats (they feed on blood of humans or insects) most bats feed on fruit from trees that are easier to reach while they are in flight at night.
In the dry down we smell the bats’ furry little bodies. It’s almost like petting a pet hamster. It’s not a big fur or heavy musk, but it’s soft and furry, comfortable and cute. The soft musk blends with your skin and does not get indolic or terribly dirty unwashed sort of skin. It’s pleasant. The more masculine side is there in the musk which seems to have bits of leather. This is a leather based musk fragrance and a modern fruit musk which perfectly captures the bat theme. Finally an Oriental flair emerges as the myrrh and incense mingles with green notes sandalwood and vetiver.
With a zoological theme and with the musk, not to mention the vampire bat thing; frankly I wanted this fragrance to be much darker with more civet or castoreum, something skankier, dirtier, scarier. But it’s sweet. The fragrance is perfect for this time of year when all the perfumistas who love to get in the Halloween mood begin to put on their most unusual and creative, dark Gothic perfumes. This is indie niche unusual eccentric very different from what’s out there as far as colognes go, it’s unisex, it’s animalic earthy weird and wonderful!
I would not go as far as to call this a Gothic perfume, though. Nevertheless this is not frightening nor too mysterious. It remains sweet fruity musky and earthy nothing crazy and quite G rated. The scent has a decent sillage and longevity. The bottle is attractive with the little vampire bat dressed like Dracula. I’m going to check out the other frags in this line because if they are as excellent as Bat I’ll invest.

Polarizing for sure. Is it wearable? Yes. Would I wear it? No, but only because I feel this is a dark night scent to be paired with a long tight black dress for the ultra contemporary femme fatale or the mysterious guy in the corner. At the moment I’m not either of these people. Not everyone can wear this. Unless you go wine tasting in an old wine cellar…in this case you would be the sweetest fruit in the room.
I tryed Bat last…well I actually got to try the NEW Camel last :)/love it! Anyway…I was super affraid that I would dislike Bat, but I had a blast using my sample. It is earthy, damp, cave like, BUT also tropical sweet fruity leathery scent. There is something very fun and pleasing about bat, you become a bat for a day while wearing this. A peculiar creature that possess incredible powers, feasts on ripe succulent fruit, navigates on echolocation, sleeps upside down and masters the night and it’s dark caverns…
I got quite mixed reactions to this fragrance of course… My husband was horrified, some friends were intrigued, some dazzled… Sure thing is you will not get unnoticed.
Longevity was very good, but it does dissapear after 6-7hours on my skin. Silage heavy the first hour, than moderate. I would say perfect. Many people could smell this from far away anyway…
If you like earthy fragrances you should be fine with this. Definetely worth a sample. Maybe you fall in love, if nothing else you will get a hell out of an experience.
Tested from an original sample bought from Zoologist.
