Aromatics Elixir Clinique for women of Clinique

Share:

Description

Aromatics Elixir is the oldest perfume from the house of Clinique, created in 1975.
It’s classified as chypre-floral, following the steps of similar sharp and strong classics.
The top, aromatic note is dominated by verbena, sage and chamomile, which give way to the sweet floral notes of geranium, rose and white flowers: ylang ylang, jasmine and tuberose. Oakmoss and patchouli note in its base are traditional ingredients in perfumes that belong to the chypre family. The moss-green end note is characteristic of the chypre family, along with vetiver. The nose behind Aromatics Elixir is Bernard Chant.
The new limited edition of Aromatics Elixir was introduced in 2007, available in 100ml bottles with an addition of a retro atomizer which offers a romantic flair. Aromatics Elixir was launched in 1971.

re: SQ and the elevator: there is no other fragrance with a better (i.e. more captivating) sillage than this. it leaves a simply stunningly beautiful trail. so i do hope you use the elevator in my office building soon 🙂

Have worn AE for over 25 years. I love everything about it, from its huge punch-in-the-face boldness to its comforting, cocooning cuddliness at the end of the day. Yes its a screamer and I understand its too much for some but for me, its like an old friend who I miss like crazy if I don’t touch base every once in a while. Other fragrances come and go but I always always come back to this classic beauty. Sorry (not sorry) if you can tell I’ve been in the lift before you.

This fragrance was a dislike for me until years later i realised that the secret is to use sparingly.
Only a tiny spray on the skin or a spray in the air and walk through it – thats it!
If it works on your skin then it is fantastic. A soothing relaxation type fragrance with the right name for it – aromatics.
I was frying onions and garlic last week (so you can imagine smelling perfumes around strong smells could be almost impossible) and had a small spray of this on my wrist. To my amazement, someone asked me what fragrance i was wearing as they thought it was so nice. I thought about it and realised it was aromatics and that was 2hrs ago! So def a long lasting sillage monster!

A real aromatic masterpiece. Only for great personalities, not for all occasions or for all seasons. A very beautiful powdery potion, unique and increasingly intriguing over time.
Oak moss and chamomile: Who would have thought it!
    GREAT!

I love this one but have to be careful how I wear it, it’s one of the least “quiet” perfumes that I actually enjoy wearing. The aromatic/balsamic qualities make it an interesting and fun choice, and I think it smells better on my hair and clothing than skin. What I do is put a spritz or two into the air right in front of me, and then walk into and through it. That way I can still smell it in my hair hours later during the day; it’s great to take a deep breath when I’m feeling stressed and smell this in the background, it really is a calming and relaxing fragrance in the right amount. If you’re looking for unique, there’s very little else on the market like it, so it’s worth a try, at a very reasonable price.

I so badly want to love and understand this one, because the people who love it make it sound positively kingly. Sadly all I get is urinal cake (urine included) and the chalky smell of Flintstone vitamins.
    How long must I wait?

I think I reviewed this once…I only do that with scents that rock. I’ll never be without this stuff. How ‘bout that?…I’ve got a backup still wrapped/boxed from 2013. The one I’m using now is old as God, and is incredibly long lasting.

This middle aged lady sat next to me at the coffee shop and she smelled absolutely incredible. I couldn’t remember what perfume she’s wearing so I had to compliment her and ask her. It was Aromatics Elixir by Clinique! It’s incredible how it smells different on everyone! I need to get it again!! I used to wear it so much. Stunning.

used to absolutely love this, thought it enhanced my “sexy” but over time, body chemistry changes, and now it makes me gag. Too many older ladies wear this in profusion, while shopping….and i cant wait to leave the store. Pity the poor store clerks, who complain about being unable to breathe.

I truly appreciate this dry, super-chypre, herbal beast. But do I want to smell like this? Ultimately, no. It’s a classic, iconic fragrance for sure and if you’ve never sniffed it, you should. But for me, nah. I need something more frivolous and overtly feminine.

I was walking on the road today and there was a blonde well dressed woman right before me. I was getting something woody, deep and huge from her and her fragrance was really amazing. I asked her perfume without hesitation. She smiled and said ” Aromtic Elixir”. This fragrance is pure class.

I had this years ago and hated this with a passion it started out so harsh but if you give it time too dry down it turns from a beast to a beauty! I’m gonna buy another bottle I think it’s time too revisit this beauty!!! Wish me luck!

Green, dry, an excellent companion for dinner, preferably on your own, on a whim, because you felt like it. It’s either instant confidence, or, if you have ever used the word “adulting” even semi-ironically, utterly unapproachable.

I agree with the reviewer a few posts down…I thought I hated it, it’s just not my style. But, I have been sniffing it and sprayed it a few times at the perfume counter and all of a sudden I can see the appeal. What’s this welling in my soul? Maturity, an appreciation for the old style chypres? There’s something herbal and aromatic of resplendent woods and foresty mystery.Anyway I doubt I’ll be wearing or purchasing this any time soon but I’m starting to like it. Hey I’m still learning and that can only be a good thing.

Soaring, bone dry herbs and a complete lack of restraint make this the most mystical smelling scent in mainstream perfumery, whose creation is pretty much unthinkable outside of the 70’s.
It’s also a miracle that it’s still in production. Appreciate this while we have it because I highly doubt my generation and the ones to follow will keep it alive.
According to some reviewers on the brand’s official website, Clinique have been tinkering with it recently, so it’s probably best to get a sample even if you’ve bought it before. I hope Clinique aren’t stupid enough to think they’re going to make this scent succesful again by modernizing it. If anything it’ll just make it bleed out faster because its existing following will give up on it.

I inherited a bottle, and at first spritz wanted to gag and scrub it off. But after a dry down, it became more and more interesting. Now I love it!!! You do need to use a light touch with this, or you will clear out entire buildings, and give it a chance to dry down and open up. It is a unique scent. Really lovely, but not at first spray.

There’s not much I can say about Aromatics Elixir that hasn’t already been said. Enchanted forest? Check. Woods witch? Check. Compliment magnet? Check. Polarizing? Check.
I discovered it several years ago after spending my 20s and most of my 30s thinking I hated it. I smelled the body smoother on a coworker over a decade ago and even though I thought she smelled like Galadriel must smell, I still convinced myself that it was probably terrible and that she was just a spectacularly scented outlier. What was I thinking? My purchase of the body smoother led to a quick tumble into the spray and then obsession. It is my all-time favorite and one of the few scents that will be with me for the rest of my life.

Created the year I was born, Aromatics Elixir is one of the few fragrances I’ve worn consistently for 25 years. It is a unique fragrance experience, a bitter dry chypre, and certainly not for everyone… it’s one of those perfumes that has to choose YOU, because it either smells gobsmackingly sexybeast-amazing on you, or it smells like mothballs and piss!
I first encountered AE on a college professor and it floored me. She smelled intoxicatingly clean & woodsy.
I ran out and got the smallest bottle (about 1/4 ounce) and, to my horror, it went badly funky on my skin— like blue cheese and barf! I tried waiting for the drydown but on me, it never came.
About five years later I tried the now-discontinued bath oil version, and AE finally worked for me! Beautifully! Men absolutely whipped their heads around when I wore this. Over the years I tried the body mist and dab-on skin gel (both were fantastic, wish they’d bring them back) and the lotion.
It seemed that the powerful sacred forest essence of AE worked best in body care products so I stuck with those.
Finally around the time I hit 40, I braved the big leagues with the AE Parfum Spray. And I had acquired the gravitas, it seemed, to pull that off as well. So now I have the big 3.4 ounce spray in my arsenal!
I will say, that as much as I love AE there are days I dislike it. Idk if it’s my female cycle or moods, but sometimes I sniff the sprayer and it smells really gross to me, like pee (the chamomile) and poop (the jasmine). I wear something else those days. But I know the love will return and it’s not AE, it’s me.

@ginawadsworth This is a very interesting post but could you help us further and mention the batch code (three digits printed on the little tag at the bottom of the bottle) on this resurected beauty of yours? Thanks a lot.

Thank you Clinique from the bottom of my heart
After years of being unable to smell this amazing perfume she is back in my life again.
The reformulation meant neither me or my husband could smell my favourite perfume and despite trying many others, nothing has ever compared to AE.
I cannot express how delighted I am to be able to enjoy what I consider my signature scent again. I have had her, mourned her, and found her resurrected again.
So good to have you back, Baby.
Drowning in her as we speak and so deliriously happy to have her in my wardrobe again.

This is one of my favorite chypre fragrances. It is quite herbal at first, but give it time, it settles down. After a while, the smoky incense starts to take over along with the earthy-woody oakmoss and patchouli. This is what makes the fragrance sooo good. Wonderful!

I get scentimental (no pun intended) about Aromatics.
I had a flamenco teacher who wore this amazingly.
This is a scent for an extravert I think.
On me it smells a little too loud and distracting, but love smelling it on other people.
Beeswax is not listed but that’s what I think of immediately. Chamomile and the oakmoss stand out as the constant low vibrating tone behind all the other smells.
To me it smells like the sensuality of the 1970’s. Many cosmetics had this lipstick/powder smell that you just do not get anymore.

Aromatics Elixer comes in a perfume/parfum spray and eau de toilette. I had the chance to test them both. The EDT is like a body spray with some sharp tones throughout and not very long-lasting. The perfume/parfum spray on the other hand is deep and rich, very golden. Like walking around in an ancient forest with golden sunlight shining through the leaves – a true Medieval elixir.
I also bought the Milton Lloyd dupe Grasse Experience, which has a horrible opening (not very aroma-therapeutic) and then dries down most similar to the eau de toilette. Both de EDT and the dupe have an unpleasant underlying note, while the perfume/parfum spray stays bright, golden and dries down to that beautiful herbal and powdery soapiness that lasts for days on your clothes.
My advice: buy a small bottle of the perfume/parfum spray instead of a big bottle of EDT – with Aromatics Elixir less is more!

So much oakmoss and patchouli, but with a bittersweet hint of chamomile…gorgeous, green, and unisex! I blind bought this and upon the first spritz was so shocked at how much the scent reminded me of a hike I did recently on the central Californian coast. The hills were covered in wild mustard and those fragrant yellow flowers combined with the salty sea air created a scent that is very reminiscent of AE. I guess I can wear this whenever I want to recall the peaceful feeling of that hike 🙂 this is truly an outdoorsy scent, it just smells like nature. Wet soil, thriving green plants, blooming flowers, misty air. Very evocative and a totally successful blind buy!
As a side note I don’t really understand all the drama about this fragrance! It definitely isn’t a sweet, crowd-pleasing fruitchouli but it isn’t horrible either.. I can’t imagine someone would be offended by this unless they’re offended by how anything green must smell. I suppose overspraying this one could be bad, I used one spray and that was enough but not overwhelming. I can definitely detect it on myself but I don’t think I’m gassing anyone out in close quarters with it 🙂

Around 2007 when AE was reintroduced, a wild eyed Clinique sales assistant thrust a 15 ml bottle into my hands, saying TAKE IT, TAKE IT. It wasn’t until I got home and sprayed it that I realised she was actually saying TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT’S HOLY. I can understand why. Aromatics Elixir is not exactly department store friendly. It is however brave, unrepentant and unique. It would never be made today, although Thierry Mugler has my admiration, if not my love, for going against trend and releasing other crowd displeasing fragrances, but I digress…
Today I decided to try Aromatics Elixir again. Home by myself, no one to offend, HAZMAT suit at the ready, loins girded (not quite sure where my loins are, nor how girding is achieved, so I did a few quick pelvic floor excercises in the hope that if I wasn’t protected from AE, at least I was immune from any coughing embarrassments). Sorry.
I took the sage advice of those of you who adore AE, so I mixed it with a benign body cream and sprayed judiciously on one arm.
As we say in Oz, “Far Out Brussel Sprout”. Because this is definitely straight from the earth. Now, I usually love herbal, vegetal fragrances, and I gave AE four hours before I admitted defeat. Yes, it has my admiration, but like Jicky, it doesn’t have my love. To me, it needs a mild sweetening and softening, so I sprayed over the top with a very small amount of Givenchy Organza Indecence which did the trick for me. So, my profound apologies and admiration go out to those of you who love Aromatics Elixir. I’m simply not woman enough to wear it.

I really like a chypre every once in a while. Not often, as I have to be in the right frame of mind to appreciate something so austere.
Aromatics Elixir is beautiful, applied with a light hand. Many have said it better than I ever could: it smells of, well, an elixir from the forest. Perhaps one prepared by dryads who live in gnarled old oaks? It’s powerful, mossy and earthy, with gentle florals peeking out. The dry down is blissful.
    Eau de Forest Floor.
When you get the urge to wear it, nothing else will do.
    Unisex.

Otherworldly and captivating, Aromatics Elixir smells of damp forest soil, earthy patchouli, infestant mosses caressing oak branches, exhilarating herbs, geraniums dripping with morning dew and a fusion of aldehydes and incense coalescing to exude an aroma that is luminous and invigorating, yet impure and fetid.
Unparalleled performance and a bracing herbal sillage, AE is an exquisite and timeless chypre concoction worthy of experiencing at least once. I adore her.

A woman in my small city, a woman who volunteers with many charities and is known for her elegance and soft-spoken wisdom, wears this as her signature.
For YEARS I asked her what she was wearing and for years she told me.
My reaction was always… “Clinique? The same Clinique that does all that BS sciencey skin care stuff?”
    It just did not compute.
But i grew to know when she was present.
Who is that around the corner at the charity haunted house? Yes. It was CF.
Who is that greeting people at the local citizenship awards? Why yes, it was CF.
Then… I got a hail-mary job at a plumbing supplies warehouse and my oh my the woman in admim smelled divine!
Not like CF mind you… Different. But ALSO beautiful.
I walked 200 paces to smell the air in her office when I had had enough of boxing up fittings and fixtures.
    Aromatics Elixer.
    So I bought it.
    I could not help it.
On me, at times, it is Aromatics Catpisser.
But other times it evokes that perfection I know it contains.
It’s not my signature or everyday.
It IS essential, though and sometimes beautiful on me… Like on a hike or gardening and occasionally before work in an office.
It all depends on how it smells from the bottle that day.
    Others have described it.
Many love it and I do too.
Test it with an open mind. Smell it from a distance. Let it be carried by wind or grand spaces. It isn’t a skin scent.
It is beautiful; an atmosphere, a statement, an elevation from the ordinary.

Washing your hands with ivory soap in a bucket of water outside a stable, from which the clean smell of horse and hay mingles with freshly sweated skin. It’s like a romp in the rafters. Animalic, yet clean. Pure earthiness that intimidates, yet doesn’t fully frighten.

    Inner peace.
Earthy, romantic, natural yellow tea rose.
AE is sour (champaign) and bitter (rather than smokey), herbal, loaded with chamomile, chrysanthemum, patchouli and old times in the countryside. All you can smell and hear are the trees and plants in the wind and maybe the little stream next to your old wooden house.
I think one has to grow up into this lovely elixir, and I just did. Took me perhaps 1000 samples and perfumes to wear or try (and maybe also to ding age 40)
I liked it some 5 years ago, but not as much to buy a bottle and to wear it.
Now I am craving for perfumes like AE, Mitsouko and Caleche.
I never cared about trends of any kind, but now these scents match my personality, mood, clothes and even interior of my home. They just belong there)
I enjoy simple things that work. These do, perfectly.
…forgot to mention the beautiful flacons and cute little art deco casing of the solid perfume balm…

I had a mini spray of this back in the late 80’s and thought this was the most foulest thing to grace this planet. 30 years later I have a burr up my butt to try this again.
So off I go to Macy’s to give this a test spin and it’s nowhere to be found, Only 4 bottles of Happy and it’s Happy little sisters to test. I ask the SA at the Clinique counter where’s the rest of the testers? Calyx? Wrappings? She said they are seasonal and that’s all we have right now. Then I asked the “secret” question….any Aromatics Elixer? Her face went white and nervously brought a tester from the cupboard. She handed to me like a puppy about to be scolded. I told don’t worry, I’ll be kind and asked for a cotton ball. I took said cotton ball and this golden bottle of naplam over to the clothing dept and sprayed 1 spray on the ball. I wiped the nozzle clean, dabbed the ball on my wrist and returned the bottle to the SA. She almost cried with relief and said “thank you so much for being courteous with it” I sniffed my wrist and said good Heavens this stuff reeks just as much as a remember. I asked how much is this nuclear warhead? She pulled out the 3 oz bottle and told me. I looked out that bottle and thought, you could wipe out an entire neighborhood with that size.
So now I’m stuck with this 1 dab of witches death breath on my wrist, but I go about my business, shoving my hands in my coat pocket.
About 20 minutes later I smell this intoxicating scent radiating from my pocket and I think…no way. I smell my wrist. Can it be? It was. It transformed into this warm/dry/sweet/bitter lovelyness that I can’t even describe. Like Mother Nature just created a world in my pocket. This perfume is straight up badass.
Guess who owns a 3oz bottle?

  38. :

Dear katie_greenwood, before you get rid of it, try smaller amount; just one spray or even beter mix it with your body lotion or shower gel. Aromatics Elixir is super concentrated, the name said it all. It is more aromatherapy product then perfume. It is just easier to use with spray.
In this case less is more. You have to let it develop properly and for that it needs time and space. The amount you used overwhelmed your senses, I would have hated it too, and I love the stuf…
Everything you know about perfume does not apply here. Use it sparingly and you may discover the enchanting witches brew that it is.

I blind bought this after reading hundreds of raving reviews. I’ve tried it on tester strips, on my scarf, and on my wrists and elbows. I don’t get it! I smell wet rotting tree bark. It’s so sharp I just don’t get it. Maybe I’m not the biggest fan of oakmoss!

  40. :

I got curious about this scent after reading all the reviews here – it seems very polarising, and apparently very dependent on body chemistry. Today, I had an opportunity to try it, and recklessly sprayed it on my hand rather than a paper strip. I instantly regretted it – I thought it was horrible, dry and bitter.
But wait…that’s not the end of the story. I had no way of removing the horrid smell straight away, so I just carried on with my day. After about ten minutes I sniffed my hand and thought “actually that’s not so bad. I don’t love it, but it’s tolerable.” And twenty minutes after that I was back at the Clinique counter buying a small bottle. AE takes her time, but she dries down to a gorgeous, warm, and yes, aromatic aroma. I guess I’m lucky she works on me.

I had such high expectations for this one, but unfortunately I had to scrub this off. Maybe it is just my skin, or maybe I’m simply not ready yet.
It struck me, at the beginning, with a strong barnyard smell (crazy, I know) plus powdery flowers, not much incense but with a smokey aura. Performance is pretty good though, long lasting.

THis perfume, D&G red cap, Chanel no.5, and lanvin arpege, go under the « love/ hate” relationship, you either love them or hate them, elegant, mature, and nothing sweet.

  44. :

This is one of those scents that had some popularity before my time that I have to resist the urge to describe as “hairspray” lol. Either it is my age or my unsophisticated nose, but so many of these 80’s scents are just so uniform to me, though I am starting to suspect that the heavy moss scents give that impression.
In any event, I get hairspray and rubbing alcohol for about 15 minutes (the alcohol might have something to do with how terribly Ulta treats their testers, especially the old ones few people touch). After an hour though, it transforms to be much more welcoming and radiant. I’m sure technically this one doesn’t compare too much to Youth Dew, but its retro appeal to me approaches that of Youth Dew, which I have grown to love.
I am really willing to try perfumes like this one lately because for someone like me, branching out can only really mean looking back in time. Many even niche fragrances these days seem so repetitive. I can’t complain too much because the houses will make what they know people want to buy, go figure.

I am now hypnotised by this divine scent – a tour de force of strength and natural beauty that has inspired me so much: a scent that calmly radiates its powerful beauty amongst the crowds of mild-mannered scents eager to please. I feel honoured to have discovered this scent: it gives me nothing but pleasure to wear it.

Dry, herbal, bitter, medicinal, earthy. Better bitter herbal frangrance than oud shamash. Underestimated perhaps, not so much tailored to modern noses. I smelled this fragrance on a lady years ago at work and it was awful!to the 10th degree! Then years later I smelled this same fragrance on a bank rep at a bank and she had the entire bank covered in this wonderful amazing fragrance! Low and behold it was Clinique aromatics once again! I was blown away by the scent and went out to buy it but I couldn’t dare to wear it alone,so I came up with a master plan,I mixed it with Paris by YSL and on some other occasions I mix it with A bed of roses,I must say people stop me all the time to ask what am I wearing!!clinique with a mix and twist!!

This is one intimidating wench.I smelled it on someone else many years ago and couldn’t figure out how something that starts out so harsh can morph into the great scent it was on her. All I get are dry,bitter-green, aldehyd-ey, icy spike-up- the-nose top notes. The dry down does not evolve into anything else on me. Still nose-wrinkling bitter.

I’ve worn AE for years and it is my signature scent. A beautiful aromatique, herbal, comforting chypre. I just purchased a new bottle this week and am saddened to say that the formula has been changed. It truly smells awful on me and I get none of the original scent. I went to Clinique.com and the reviews show that I’m not the only one thinking the formula has been changed. What a shame to do this to such a spectacular perfume. The opening is very chemical instead of medicinal and that lovely drydown is gone. I’m left with a stale/cheap perfume smell and none of the comforting scent I’m used to. I will be taking this bottle back to the store for a refund. I hope Clinique returns to their original formula, otherwise, I will not be purchasing this new AE again.

Aromatics Elixir is a complex mistress. I have a very strange relationship with this now-classic juice — it’s love/hate, and violently one or the other, usually. I think my reaction to it depends on 2 things — the weather and my mood.
I do not recommend wearing this frag in the summer. I made this mistake one time, and one time only. It was so overpowering that I had to go scrub it off immediately, follow up with a dousing of hand sanitizer, and then take my contacts out of my eyes and rinse them off. Aromatics Elixir is serious business, people.
Secondly, mood. Oh my god, does it ever depend on my mood. I have to be in a total-world-domination/I-will-destroy-you-with-a-withering-glance mindset to put on this scent. It’s like the frag equivalent to uber structured shoulder pads and an “I will not take no for an answer, you rube” attitude.
It calms down a LOT during the drydown, but that initial blast and the first hour is like a trumpet in your face. A TRUMPET THAT SQUIRTS CAT PEE IN YOUR FACE, because there is a distinct kitty pee note in the opening. The drydown is actually pretty soothing. Once you get there, you almost feel triumphant; there’s a feeling of relief as Aromatics Elixir pats you on the back and tells you — You made it! You cracked my tough exterior! Now we can curl up together and chat about cats in a non-urine context. Speaking of, have you seen my new cat calendar?! Let me make you a mug of tea…
    Good times.

Tried to wear this at least twice…I just can’t. Something intimidating and scary about this! Smells bitter, medicinal and somehow ancient. If anyone can pull this off, kudos to them, a large part of perfume is body chemistry, and mine says ” heck no” to this one.

This melancholy fragrance bomb is full of drying and dead citrus and decaying greenery. To say it’s a fragrance bomb might be an understatement. It has balls and isn’t too shy to show you how big they are. Aromatics isn’t a happy woman. But she’s intoxicating and draws you in. To call Aromatics a woman may be wrong because she’s a baffling gender bender and I believe a truly unisex fragrance. To confuse things more, you could smell her brother Aramis 900 and decide which you feel is the most stereotypically masculine—my vote goes to Aromatics. But in reality, I can spray Aromatics on one arm and Aramis 900 on the other and after the initial burst, they dry down much the same, although Aramis 900 is never the same strength as his dominant sister and has a sweet side that his sister never dares show anyone. I love how offensive this fragrance is to some. I love that people say it’s only for old women. I love that people warn you to spritz and walk through the fragrance cloud. I say F U to all of that. I’m a 44 year old guy and I wear Aromatics full strength, especially when I’m feeling particularly introspective and melancholy. And a few sprays of this on the sheets before I climb into bed and I drift off to sleep wrapped in the dying citrus forrest. The Aramis version can be had for a third of the price so if you are looking for a softer less pricey alternative, have at it.

For me this is mother scent..My mom used to wear it when I was a child and although I found it enormous and even sickening but I loved the drydown smell. On my skin never delighted me, feels suffocating and I also think it suits more to mature women.

This reminds me of fire, flame, daring and boldness.
The ad photo and the bottle are suitable choices for the scent.
It literally means “Do not dare to mess with me.”

This is one of those Parfümes that I’m ambivalent about. Sometimes I like it, Sometimes I don’t.
When I was very young back in the late seventies-early eighties. My friend’s great aunt passed. We were asked to clean out and pack up her bedroom belongings. She had a lot of Fragrances. From inexpensive to “Ouch”. We were told we could keep the perfumes for our labour.
{after my friend’s mom went through them first of course}.
That’s how I acquired quite a few of “expensive/classique” perfumes at that time, and what started me on my fragrance journey. This one was in the lot. Nobody wanted this one. I was told, “You may like it in a few years”. But, I didn’t like it at twelve, or fourteen, or again at sixteen. But, as I got older, and yet even now, that changed. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I can’t stand it. Perhaps because it has a very dry, herbal tea, vintage smell under it or of it. Which is what turns me off. However, sometimes when I’m in a sort of Nostalgic~Hippie~Chic mood. I’ll really like it. Most of the time, not so much. Truthfully, I’m not really sure. (The bottle was replaced a few times over the years. But, as gifts or second hand). But, I wouldn’t buy it.

Aromatics Elixir is herbal and arid as the desert. I can’t wear it – but I love smelling it on someone else in the vicinity or passing by. It is unmistakable. I think it’s better from a distance. I had it long ago and gave it away. Not for me. Today, I was in ULTA and saw AE on a display shelf. The brown liquid in the frosted bottle called to me. I took two slight sprays. I thought, I’m much older now. Maybe I can wear this. Waited a while…and…nope. Still not for me. It is linear, arid and dry as a bone on my skin from beginning to end. No song, no dance, no glow. It doesn’t m
