Description

The perfume in which white flowers harmonize with musky base notes. The twinkly top notes of magnolia pour into a classic wave of aldehydes. The heart is sewed of white petals: white rose, jasmine, lily of the valley and fake orange, the scent of which reminds of orange blossom. The base smells on clear patchouli and musk. The perfume was created by Francis Kurkdjian in 2006.

The first fragrance that made me fall in love with fragrances. This smells rich, sophisticated and matured.

I have owned this for about 4 years now and used it about 4 times. The scent is not bad, but it is very safe and boring. It is predominantly magnolia and jasmine. I bought this blind and I was hoping for more lilly of the valley, orange blossom and musk. I don’t really get any of those notes. I would describe this scent as 60% magnolia, 20% jasmine 10% plum and 10% rose. I occassionaly get wifts of rose and plum, which is nice and pleasant, but again it lacks that spark for me, it is a classic white floral, I was hoping for a more citrusy musky punch with this one. Perfect for spring, is well blended. Also safe for all ages, it is not old smelling at all, it just has that classic crisp white floral scent. I can wear, I do wear it. It is just overlooked and neglected in favour of the more unique interesting scents in my collection. On the plus side, it is very affordable, you get a lot of product for the price, and I think it makes a safe gift for females of all ages. Given the name Rumeur, I was expecting a more shocking interesting unique scent. This isn’t what I got from this fragrance. Very safe, everyday, every occassion scent. Safe spring scent.

Elderly? I never noticed..To me elderly would be something like Ysatis from Givenchy or Loulou by Cacharel..But even they are not elderly, just depends who wears them..
All I know is I was 26 when it came out and now 10 years on it`s still my top perfume, I have gone through countless bottles of it and everytime I wear it I just feel the most comfortable in the scent that surrounds me: it must be a perfect match for my skin..Many a time people have complimented on how amazing I have smelled and asked what the perfume was – and surprisingly I did get a few Narciso Rodriguez hints! So I did try both NR perfumes, but nope – even though the similarity is there, but they don`t live up to the romance I have had with Rumeur, something is missing and something else is added..The patchouli-musk-rose combo and sprinkles of magnolia makes the fragrance heavy/spicy/rosy/sour in just the right proportion.
An absolutely class perfume if you ask me, and attracts men a lot! 😉

I’ve never tried the original version, but I’m not so sure of the 2006 version. I generally find white florals difficult-its like the inside of my nose is being scoured, I find jasmine in particular to be headache inducing, but I wanted to try this because I admire Kurkdjian’s other work.
Immediately on spraying it was very chemical-air freshener, hairspray, possibly nail varnish remover! That died down fairly quickly leaving the top note of magnolia, lots and lots of magnolia with lots and lots of jasmine. Very intense, very heavy, harsh, rough, chemical, bitter. The musk struggles to get through-it comes in about an hour into wearing but it is very light and certainly not enough to tame those blaring shrieking white florals. I didn’t really get any orange blossom either, this is overwhelmingly floral, not fruity.
Second time I wore it I layered it with Avon Soft Musk (a very useful good all round gentle musk), and that made it more wearable, calming down the harshness. I normally love powdery notes but there were none in this that I could find-when I layered it I got the powder from the Avon Soft Musk, but to me, Rumeur is a one-note one-track white floral that is difficult, loud, brash and not very attractive.

I bought a new bottle several years ago. It started out delightful in the spring, but I’ve really gotten tired of it, and it doesn’t smell right on me in hotter or colder weather (overly strong in summer, and cheap and alcoholic in cold weather). The scent fades quickly, leaving vague, generic floral notes.
I wish I could trade the rest of my bottle for something that suits my chemistry better.

@Celticelle thank you for reviewing the vintage because that is the one I was interested in. Barbara Hermann wrote about it in her book Scent and Subversion and really made me want to try. Now reading your review I want to try it even more. Come on Fragrantica there is room for two. Look how many Shalimars are listed.

This review is for vintage Rumeur. Since Fragrantica refuses to add a vintage Rumeur page for some reason, I’m forced to put this on the new version page. They probably don’t want any confusion for the newer version, but it makes it confusing when there’s so many reviews for vintage and new versions on the same page. I see them adding many old vintages to the database, but they continue to neglect this one.
I have never tried the new version, but the vintage is a masterpiece. It’s a soft suede/leather with a lot of animalic notes, mainly from the use of costus. It’s actually considered a fruity chypre with peach and plum and, of course, lots of oak moss. It also has lots of spices, including nutmeg and clove and cardamom, three spices I love in perfume. Then some tobacco added for even more smoky depth.
This is one of my favorite vintage perfumes, and I love it far more than Arpege. Rumeur was created in 1934 by Andre Fraysse, and Madame Lanvin chose her perfumers so well. Fraysse created a Cuir de Russie leather base for this that he also used in the leather Lanvin Scandal. It’s also not as leathery as vintage Femme Rochas, but it shares the same basic type of being a fruity leather and also has peach and plum notes. It also lacks the bitterness of the other famous fruity chypre, Mitsouko.
This one is in my top 10 of favorite vintages.

The opening is just so bad that it doesn’t really make sense for me to wear this at all. It’s one of the worst I’ve come across. pure nail polish remover. the chemicals burn my nose. even if what comes after is ok i just don’t want to put myself through those first few minutes. just awful.

I wore Rumeur for many years. When it was reformulated in the 1970s it wasn’t drastically altered and I continued to wear it. Last week I finally decided to buy a bottle of the current formula and find out what time had wrought. I’m so sorry that I did.
I am aware that fragrance names are often resurrected and reused by another company after a decent interval. There really should be a ban on a perfume company like Lanvin offering a completely different product without a warning of some sort. I’m appalled.
If you can find an old bottle of Rumeur with the square silver label you’ll see what I mean.

I’m afraid I had to wash this one off which I rarely do with new perfumes, all I could smell was nail polish remover and it made me feel quite sickly 🙁 when I came back downstairs from washing it off I could still smell it in my living room, sorry to say those who love it but not for me at all.

So, when Narciso Rodriguez does this it’s sexy but when Lanvin does it’s “elderly”. Interesting.
It is like NR for Her but with a citrus/magnolia kick. It’s more like l’eau than the ETD or EDP. It’s a bit like SJP’s Lovely but the lavendar just puts that scent in a whole other stratosphere.
Like Yohji said, it’s not as suffocating as For Her (if you find it so, to me it certainly can be). This is more uplifting and fresh. Musky, fresh LotV and magnolia, a touch of rose, jasmine and patch. It lasts 7-12 hours on my skin and maintains its richness all the way though. Simply gorgeous and well worth what it currently costs.

Just got this at a ridiculously low price. Talk about a hidden gem. This is a beautiful expensive smell, understated floral with a plumey finish- Really nice, good sillage and longevity- definitely worth it for the price!

wow!! what an underrated beauty!! Really beautiful and feminine! Can understand the comparison to Lovely and Narcisso but it’s softer and more subtle! I can detect a soft peppery smell as it dries down. Reminds me of “Kate” too (Kate Moss). Really lovely and inoffensive. Perfect for daywear.

Love!Seeing it compared to SJP Lovely, I was hesitating buying it blind. Then I took the risk, following the advice of some lovely Fragranticans, and I am extremely glad that I did!
It is absolutely delightful. Much more refined and softer than Lovely, less harsh and more well rounded, it only has in common the general idea of flowers resting on a bed of musk and a whisper of patchouli. But I find Lovely more powdery and schreechy, with a dirtier kind of musk.
Rumeur opens with an heady fresh magnolia, and then it becomes softer and gentler, lasting on the skin for several hours, like a radiating aura of clean musks.
I am very happy that I went for a 100ml bottle!

This is a mind blowing fragrance, unfortunate I just found out about this gem. I am shocked that this perfume was not successful, it is beyond rich and beautiful. I plan to continue to use this until it is gone forever. New favorite

This is such a beautiful and under rated scent. Thanks to Yohji for the sample – I went and bought a large bottle immediately. It’s floral and musky but not sweet at all on me – I wear it in the day but it could easily be worn on a romantic evening out. It has a powder quality but not in an ‘old lady’ way and I would say that it is a grown up scent. The patchouli for me, is subtle and remains in the background. It is also a soft scent but has excellent sillage and longevity. It makes me think of a snowy evening but maybe that’s the enchantment quality it has. It has gone straight into my top 5. It compares with much pricier scents. I don’t know how I missed it.

I am totally with Yohji on this one. I agree completely with her take on it. Totally under-rated.
I’ve just realised that the bottle is very similar to KNOT by Bottega Veneta. Not the most appealing shape but hey-ho.

Another one hugely underrated beauty which price doesn’t reflect its quality at all. Don’t know what was preventing me from buying it ages ago. It really resembles Idylle’s Guerlain sophistication and feminine musk of For Her Rogriguez, but…but…I prefer Rumeur now I know it, for musk in it is not powdery/suffocating, but clean and virgin (I understand why it might be best option for wedding day), as for magnolia and lily-of-the-valley – it’s simply realistic and elevating. Although every note in this beauty is very well pronounced the juice itself is very solid, lasting and complete. In many flower-musk fragrances I felt its like sandwich with cheese and ham where bread and ham were missing. Rumeur is perfect and clever woman’s companion. Love.

II was worried after scrolling down a little and seeing the nail polish references…weird…I didn’t get that. What I got was like a magnolia rose blast. I live next door to a huge Magnolia and it is very distinctive. It’s kind of sweet and pungent but this perfume is sweetened by the other florals. No chemicals. I am not a purveyor of floral fragrances so this isn’t really similar to anything I have but its really lovely. It’s not super fancy or unique but it’s pretty and public friendly. I like it! It’s pretty and it’s a good price from the house of Lanvin.

  21. :

    3 out of 5

This is BEAUTIFUL! I think you could say that this is a quite strong scent, but it doesn’t come off as strong, if that makes any sense. It presents itself as a soft and beautiful cloud of yummy clean sweet fresh flowers.
I love it. But sometimes I really do get enough of it, too, like a magnificent but pungeant bouquet is standing in a small closed room, and you just wanna open the window wide open and breathe nothing but fresh cool air kinda feeling, and then I have to leave it out of my selection for 2-4 months, after that experience, and then I take it back when I get tired of everything else in the meantime, because this is a different and so daring one, and I fall in love with Rumeur all over again 🙂 Like right now, mmm… It is a favorite in periods. Now I’ll try to get myself to stop before getting enough of it. Just rotate more.
Tip: Use sparingly, not too close to face. I like it on my belly and/or underarms. It lingers.

Rich, ready sweet white floral with a base of musk, very sexy, very feminine. There’s something a bit naughty about white flowers, there’s unquestionably a strong undercurrent of sin in this bombastic floral. It’s sweet and lush and wet and delicious and terribly carnal. Rrrrawr says the fleshy magnolia.

I decided to buy a new perfume for my wedding. As I often store memories as smells, I figured that my wedding is definitely an occasion that deserves a totally new and unknown smell. After sniffing my way through a whole bunch of perfumes, I chose Rumeur.
It is totally different from my other perfumes, and actually very “not me”, as I prefer scents with a lot more character to them. Rumeur is very innocent, pretty, clean, floral and classy. Just like I wanted to smell wearing my white wedding gown…
I got married in February, in snowy Norwegian mountains. The fragrance was perfect for that kind of weather. It definitely did it’s job, and became THE wedding scent.
I still have the original bottle, 30 ml, and I am sure it will last my whole life, as I only spray it on on our wedding anniversary once a year. Two kids and a few wrinkles later, it still puts me into this magical wedding mood. Sometimes I just close my eyes and smell the bottle… and in the wink of an eye – I’m back at our wedding, standing in front of the small church kissing my husband.

Beautiful, clean magnolia scent. Rose note gives its delicateness and patchouli makes it firm and fierce. Great potency!

Rumeur is a grown up scent, not elderly. It isn’t a sweet candy saturated scent that everyone likes, it is complex, a bit spicy, sensuous too, complex, this is a French perfume designed for the one looking for a special perfume…I personally find it attractive, but it is edgy, it isn’t a crowd pleaser, in winter I like wearing it, it just is so unique.but you need to be in a certain mood..still, nice creation!

Oh, Rumeur! How I have missed you! This had been my standby for years until about a year ago when I ventured off into a perfume adventure-land to see if I could learn to appreciate the gourmands and sweet scents. As of today, I am adding Rumeur back into the rotation. The sweet, girly scents are nice but I haven’t been a girl for many years.
Yes, the first few minutes there is definitely a jarring acetone note. You will also smell acetone if you just sniff the nozzle. It is a hideous note. However, the acetone very quickly dissipates to reveal Rumeur’s floral beauty.
It’s soft and warm on me and not too sweet. White floral but the amber and leather really come through with my body chemistry. Rumeur is an elegant, seductive lady wearing nothing but a fur coat and pearls as she drapes herself languidly across a leather settee before a roaring fire. She drinks scotch and has a husky voice. There is nothing girly about this woman. She can play with the big boys and conquer them in their games.

I really don’t like leaving bad reviews for perfume houses that I love, love, love, love but LANVIN really dropped the ball on this classic by remaking it and repackaging it too.
First off, it looks like an oil lamp from olden times and that isn’t so bad but it just doesn’t have Vanity Top Appeal.
Secondly, and most importantly, WHY DID THEY REFORMULATE A CLASSIC??? The Original is a costus(a musky animalic essence no longer in production and verboten too boot!) concoction wrapped in a well-worn, driving kidskin glove(leathery), blended with a chypre enchanted moss and slapped with musky animalic attitude(pure civet, thank you); it’s a masterpiece, it’s a perfume hall of fame inductee, IT’S A PERFUMISTA MUST HAVE. It truly is a Film Noir Femme Fatale. It’s very much along the lines of her older sister, Scandal. But Rumeur 2006 is a travesty; it smells like a poor knock-off of Chanel’s Mademoiselle…except Rumeur 2006 smells like dirty pedicure water; like someone used a chypre floral to mask sweaty, smelly feet, ACK!
My third bone to pick, and last, is how could master and niche perfumer “Francis Kurkdjian” create such a terrible perfume? I actually have the 1/2 oz parfum extrait of Rumeur 2006; I got it real cheap on ebay too…for under $35; I’ve have Avon(Occur parfum) and Jovan(Vintage Musk Oil) perfumes that have cost more and were a mere DRAM or two in volume. THAT IS ALL.

On me it’s changing all the time. Like rumor -from ear to ear.
I can understand those who get the opening of this scent as a nail polish remover. I agree, first 5 minutes I smell it too. But then this perfume becomes softer, rounded, there is a vibe of the sophistication. In the end, it turns into a classic, white floral, grown up fragrance. It’s quite strong (and then yes- it smells like a nail polish remover if used without any moderation), so be careful. I’m not crazy about the top notes but when they fade, It’s quite wearable and classy. Not for every day. I agree, it reminds Narciso Rodrigez (in the black bottle), but just reminds it! A modern perfume with a vintage touch. Clean, maybe a bit expensive soapy.
I’d be more pleased if they had payed more attention to the bottle, I don’t like it at all. The top reminds me that thing I use to close the hole in my bathtub in order to fill it with water. Sorry about that.
    Update
I gave it many chances but I couldn’t get over that acetone opening. So sorry and sad about it. It means I rather dislike it than like, but I don’t hate it. Today I gave it to my colleague who is crazy about it. I don’t think it was a waste of money, it was just the price of the experience.

Industrial paint stripper. That is all.

I don’t know why so many people dislike this fragrance….I know what you mean by that nail polish smell, but I only get that for the first minute, than it becomes quite linear flowery scent. To my nose, this is very similar to Marry Me!……although Marry Me is more citrusy, fresher, cleaner and Rumeur is a little bit sweeter and sharper. There are differences between the two, but the basic seems to be the same to me.
For the first sniff, I hated this. 10 minutes later, I was in love, and still is. Sweet flowery scent, loud and sexy, but not sexy for a date, it is an everyday sexy scent. Smell of an elegant, confident, beautiful woman, NOT OLD AT ALL!!! At least not to me, I’m 22… 😉
Sillage is really good, but longetivity (2-3 hrs) isn’t to my sorrow. But all in all, I like this.
EDIT: We’re totally in love. I just can’t get enough of this superfeminim giant flower bouquet kick in my ass… <3 🙂

  32. :

    5 out of 5

I smell neither paint stripper nor nail polish remover.
Although the accords list rose & patchouli highly, I don’t really get either of them in Rumeur.
On my skin, Rumeur is a soft, creamy musk with magnolia and lily of the valley. A fairly classic floral, but certainly appropriate for younger ladies as well.
I’m actually not usually a fan of aldehydes. I often find them bitter and soapy. In the case of Rumeur, they add a sparkling freshness.
Sillage is moderate for me, good lasting power of about 6-8 hrs.

I was enchanted to this fragrance when it was lauched, so my mum gave the 100 ml as a birthday gift. The first time I was very happy and I recieved a lot of compliments.
But then I got bored … The scent is floral but strong, and last almost the 6 hours in your clothes, so try it two or three times before you buy it.

Is it me??? I wanted,NO,longed to love this. It has all the notes I love and I wa sure it would be a 10. But,NO! From the very beginning until the most anticipated end,it reeks of PERM SOLUTION! For YEARS I stood on my feet doing hair. From the awful, awful smell of perms in the late 60s till the not so bad scent of them in the 80s. One spray of this, and,I am back in a white uniform, hair teased up to there, cat eye liner and heavily frosted pink lipstick!! I am there with a customer that refuses to be satisfied at 8 30 pm on a Saturday nite. I am wrapped in a cloud of perm solution and rollers!!! MY feet are killing me!!! NO!NO!NO!… I usually can find SOMETHING that redeems most fumes but this one is awful.(on me)
I hope u find it ur Holy Grail but for me its a never again!

I recognize what is said about the nailpolish smell, upon first spray, but I actually like it, the synthetic/aldehyde scent, quite fruity. To me it is a more complex scent than Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker, For Her by Narciso Rodriguez or Cabaret bij Gres, but all three have a rose/musk/patchouli drydown/base. The staying power of all these perfumes is very good, by the way (on me). Powdery perhaps in the end, but quite sharp in the beginning and middle, which I like. Very good and elegant perfume in my opinion.

I wore this today to a lecture and at first this perfume starts off with a rich floral soapy clean smell but after an hour I could smell fresh luxurious plums with a hint of sweet powdery florals; I was so surprised when I realized it was me. This fragrance is so floral I was amazed with the sudden transition into a sweet gourmand. The smell was merciless and powerful and so divine I was too distracted to pay attention to my lecturer…
Rumeur is supreme quality, definitely doesn’t require the usually trigger-happy over dosage of perfume I apply on myself with my other fragrances! Rumeur will last for hours on the skin, and stick to your clothes, and even scent your hair a little, while turning heads; this is elegant and sassy.
If this didn’t have a heady balmy soapy opening (as some people suggested they smelt alcohol) the bottle you smelt is either a fake or a bad bottle. Sadly Lanvin products are not so popular so the bottles get thrown around the parallel imports/ discount stores. I guarantee a real genuine bottle of Rumeur is absolutely delicious, not a hint of alcohol, and powdery plum heaven of the skin!

An exclusive and classy perfume fragrance!

  38. :

I’m not exactly sure why Lanvin Rumeur is so widely disliked. I consider it to be quite inoffensive, clean and soft. If anything, I would have expected it to be an easy crowd-pleaser.
It’s a fairly basic floral to my nose, with a slightly creamy and clean quality. I can smell magnolia, jasmine, rose and lily of the valley in this composition. Rumeur is not far off the scent of face cream. I find it quite soothing and delicate on the skin.
The drydown is a touch heavier, with a rich patchouli and musk blend complimenting the floral notes. I agree that Rumeur resembles Kate Moss’ signature fragrance and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Lovely. Thankfully I don’t get the metallic, nail polish remover accord that everyone seems to be complaining of.
Fragrance can be such a personal thing, so despite my rave review, I would advise that you test Rumeur before considering a purchase. It should be relatively easy to find a tester in any discount store.
I certainly enjoyed Rumeur a lot more than I did its flanker, Rumeur 2 Rose. Lanvin’s affordability these days is no reflection on its quality. I have a ton of respect for this classic brand.

  40. :

I’m amazed this is a modern formulation as it smells very 1950s vintage to me. It smells like perfume used to smell, with no hints of today’s modern synthetics.
When I wore it, it made me imagine my grandmother in the 40s or 50s going to glamorous parties and wearing gloves and pearls.
The more I wear it, the more I like it. It has a respectable place in today’s modern world, outclassing the smell-a-like fruity florals that seem to be everywhere.
It starts as a high, almost sharp old fashioned scent, but as the skin warms it up it becomes rose, musk, sandalwood and amber. I love that it avoided the temptation, so frequent today, to drown a good scent in vanilla or blueberries or candy floss.
This perfume is a string of pearls among the brass. Classy, elegant and sophisticated.

I am now nearly half way through my bottle of Rumeur. I love it when I need a good “workhorse” fragrance that’s not too “in your face” and “kooky”! Its a very warm floral with musky drydown and lasts all day on me! Very good sillage and a good workplace perfume as its not too strong and has a warm, friendly persona! When I first bought Rumeur I thought it was a very old perfume and I was surprised to see that it was only formulated in 2006! It has a vintage charm to it and is not a “girly” perfume. Grown-up, charming and wearable.

I smelt this today for the first time and it was love at first sniff!
It is strong but thats one thing I like about it. I love Jasmine so i think that is why I like it so much. I’m going to try it again tomorrow. Maybe I need to also buy a Jasmine plant or shrub or something.
Edit: ended up buying it and giving it to my mum. Longevity is poor. I got an hour.

It’s ‘nice’ – I do not hate it, but only in the tiniest doses as it is powerful and can go a bit ‘stale’ in warm/hot weather. One for a really cold day after a shower.

This blind buy an absolute success! I purchased a mini because of the musky florals. I’ve been very stressed out and the first whiff, I felt relaxed and rejuvenated. I never realized how much power a scent could have. I’ve always been a rose and musk person, but the beautiful magnolia, jasmine and musk makes for one extraordinary perfume!

I adore this heavy floral number, its sophistication in a bottle. Blast of magnolia and roses makes the perfume wee bit special for me. I certainly get a slight citrusy tinge too. It is a well balanced perfume with an elegant touch. This beauty could be worn during day or night all year around.

On me Rumeur is a slightly synthetic ultra freesia/mandarin type of scent with a good dose of patchouli. It is quite delicious and I have owned a couple of miniatures but never purchased the big size. Something must be telling me this is not quite me.

The notoriously temperamental Rumeur loves me. Thankfully I am spared the “nail varnish/acetone” description which has left an audible hum in my ears.
Actually it is there, but my nose interprets the initial challenging blast as an organic overripe pear note. I first noticed it in Guerlain’s Idylle. It acts as a tempter of sorts, evidence of a volatile fruit based musk lurking below. I get very excited when I smell it in other perfumes!
    Rumeur is no exception.
It is difficult not to visualise a gigantic magnolia tree in full bloom with twisted grey branches, sparse greenery and exquisite blooms. The ancient tree on the nature strip in my street makes my heart ache every time I drive/walk/ride past, I am often overwhelmed by its majestic beauty. The distinctive tingly aroma of magnolia swells and subsides throughout the evolution of Rumeur.
Roses and plums twinkle alongside a handpicked posy of lily-of-the-valley, jasmine and orange blossoms garnished with spare patchouli. Amber gives way to a creamy conserved fruit musk in the base.
    Springtime in a bottle. Gorgeous.
PS. LadyRogue I love your review. It seems this “Classy French Lady” has veritably seduced me.

Elegant, but very special. The scent opens with a very heavy scent of alcohol, which I really hate, but after that it turns into a very warm, feminine scent that stays for hours. I think it’s very wearable to any occassions, for work too. Absolutely one of my favourite perfumes of all times!

After reading some reviews from fellow perfumistas about Rumeur I can only be -yet again- amazed at how our chemistry and sense of smell makes each fragrance an utterly personal experience. I can only smile at the name and how appropriate it is: Rumeur (rumours, talk, buzz etc) Indeed! Rumeur causes a lot of that, it is a hate or love fragrance and if it were a woman she would say with a posh french accent: “love me or hate me but don’t dare to be indifferent to me! Merde!” ; )
Love at first sniff is what I experienced with this beautiful darling. No nail-polish remover or plastic notes at all. Au contraire; roses with the most amazing mock orange (the note listed called “fake orange” is wrong – that should be mock orange. Mock orange smells like orange, jasmine and lilac.) than jasmine and a heavenly magnolia unfold their beautiful note opera, followed by a dry down of musk dipped in a soft vanilla. -the patchouli is not at all noticeable to me, but perhaps it’s hiding behind the musk?- Hmmm It’s quite a beauty.
It cannot be compared to the other Lanvin classic Lady called Arpege — Arpege is sultry in an oriental, vintage way. Whereas Rumeur is more like a delicious floral (slightly fruity) Lady with a soft powdery dry down. A hint of vintage vibe floats around her, but it is a vintage that is timeless in its beauty.
The orange-rose notes combine to my nose to something like Chanels Mademoiselle but with far more rose. A rose with an orange edge, a magnolia cloud and a faint vanilla/musk dry-down. And it lasts and lasts. People stop me and ask me what that delicious scent is that is trailing and softly embracing me. It’s divine and not linear but extremely expressive in its note development. A “mood stone” among perfumes. I love it! And I haven’t even mentioned the gorgeous and classy bottle. Tres chic! Tres beau!
To me this Lanvin is right up there with Chanels classy Ladies. I don’t get Kate Moss from it, only in the fact that there is a rose note. KM is more basic and less multi faceted, whereas Rumeur smells complex and extremely well crafted. Don’t judge this one by reviews, try it on your skin and see if this classy French Lady is in the mood to seduce you. If she does, I guarantee that you’ll have a new great love in your life, and it all started with a Rumeur! ; )
Silage is: “OMG! I’m being seduced with roses, magnolia, lilac and fresh oranges! YUM!” — Longevity is awesome 10+ hours. Real value for your money.
