Description

La Panthère is the new fragrance for women from Cartier, launching in March of 2014. It draws inspiration from the heritage of the house: panther as a symbol of the brand and Panthère perfume from 1986. La Panthère was also the nickname of Cartier’s lover and muse Jeanne Toussaint.
The new perfume is a symbol of freedom for 2014; it represents a woman who is independent, graceful and rebellious.

The fragrance is sensual and bold floral – chypre. It is created by perfumer Mathilde Laurent from central notes of gardenia and animalistic musk.
The top of the composition exudes greenish – fruity mixture in the form of molecule styrallyl acetates, containing nuances of rhubarb, strawberries, dried fruit, apple and apricot. The heart is dominated by gardenia, selected as the main flower to avoid excessive oriental character and also as not so common ingredient amongst modern perfumes. Ketone musk and oak moss provide irrefutable chypre character.

The simple luxurious bottle of golden colors shows stylized face of panther, which gives the entire design a special signature and character. The face of the campaign is a model Erin Wasson, known for his cat-like facial features and boho style. The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

Lovely. Deep, creamy floral with a bit of vanilla, this also has orange blossom and it’s detectable. I get a couple of hours in cool autumn weather, thinking it might perform better in the spring. Still I prefer the tropical vibe of the Legere flanker with the addition of Tiare. But the original is a solid like.

On me, this smells like dusty pot pourri. Hint of rose and creaminess in the background. Very mature scent.

I love it, this is so classy! For me it represents a lady who has authority and charm and grace at the same time. I love to wear it, it gives confidence!

Adult perfume. Beautiful. Smells like flowers, fruit, and clean laundry. Not too sweet. Musky.

Wow this is such a long lasting scent…Chic, chypre, over 10 hrs in my skin! It has a definitivelly strong presence, for an over 35, confident woman…from suit to leather. Go light in this one, medium to large sillage.
I see it suits a tall, strong, confident woman.
I have several carded samples, if you want a trade just send me a msg.

Today I(a man) accidentaly noticed that scent, and asked a lady in mid 40′ what she was wearing?I told her that the scent is very pleasant,a little bit heavy, with retro vibe, but in a most positive way(I like retro perfumes)…So,here I am,searching on fragrantica what people say about this scent, and I can see that lots of women mention that retro vibe, too.Anyway,I like the scent very much and it is definitely for 30 or 35 plus women, but with an attitude, confident, maybe bussiness suit…really nice one from Cartier.

Very chypre luxery soapy retro chic with a classy and a modern twist. Similar to tiffany’s reformulation vibe. Not bad but not unforgettable unique neither. Business scent. Not sexy. I was exepting something more sultry from this.

Complex juice blasting open a sweet and dreamy flower arrangement and evolving into stages of translucent smoke and light.About four hours in you sense the wonders of this exquisite moss (unlike the cheap metallic moss base in the newest Jo Malone). I am very pleased with this underrated classic.

I instantly fell in love with this modern yet strangely retro chypre. My tastes in the last few years have veered strongly into the strong vanilla and slightly brash sweetness territory (thinking of you my beloved Manifesto). So to be confronted with this superbly crafted classic embodiment of elegance was an unexpected pleasure. What really draws me to a new fragrance is if it feels instantly memorable. In other words I would recognize it again without seeing it. This is one of those. In the chypre category for sure, but this is full of her own unique feline character.
The fruit opening is not too sweet, but has enough to make it interesting. The gardenia is quite clearly the star of the heart notes. I feel the oak moss in the top notes already. Slightly sharp there in the opening, but as this fragrance unfolds, it is sublimely smooth. I am not a fan of musk, but the soft and luxurious dry down of the musk and oak moss combo is divine.
This feline is wonderfully sophisticated with excellent longevity and perfect (for me)
When I wear her, I want to put on black stockings and patent high heels instead of sandals. I take extra care with my makeup, because she deserves to be showcased.
Though to be honest I have also worn her to bed a few times – but with the silk Pyjamas instead of the flannel ones 🙂

Very nice perfume. The older ladies here like me (39…) will find this scent familiar. Indeed, if you have owned Magie Noir by Lancome, Eau de Soir by Sisley or even Aromatics Elixir by Clinique you will feel that all the core elements of these creations can be found remixed in La Panthere.

This! This! This! La Panthere is what perfume dreams are made of. I love a floral chypre or a fruity chypre and this creation moved to the top of my chypre love list! The oak moss in this creation is perfection! The rhubarb is immediate to my nose followed by the sweetness of strawberry and apricot, but then the gardenia makes itself known and sticks around long after the fruity aspects have dissipated, and all the while the dominant oak moss with a blend of musk hold down this magnificent creation! Wow! This quickly moved to my to five favorite fragrances. In fact every time I am with my mother she goes nuts over how great “Whatever fragrance I am wearing smells” to the point that I bought her a bottle for her birthday so she can enjoy it whenever she likes! This is her new favorite now as well! Bravo Cartier another brilliant creation, pure perfection!

This is my new love!!! i find it absolutelly extraordinary. yes it smells like fresh laundry, yes it smells like clean room, yes it smells like garden of white flowers, yes it smells like rain. all of those things combined together make up a trully trully remarkable and outstanding perfume! very elegant but not to overwhelming. very not sweet but not to musky and foresty. it doesn’t smell like pharmacy. it’s a wonderful chypre-my aboslute number 2 after sisley soir de lune; not sure if not number 1! totally in love, totally blown away-perfection, masterpiece.

I received this as a free sample from a kind Ebay seller. After wearing it for about an hour, it smells like a slightly watered-down pure gardenia musk. It is so overly musky and floral on my skin, that even as a skin scent, it is suffocating. Too much of a heavy, musky floral bomb for me, with some oakmoss and a hint of rhubarb. I cannot detect any fruity notes. I notice a lot of reviewers referring to it as feminine. Yes, absolutely, it is. The floral notes scream feminine TOO much for my taste. It smells familiar, like something from my childhood. Linear and predictable. There is no mystery here, nothing new, just a heavy dose of gardenia and musk. If you love musk, you may very well love this fragrance!

Strawberries, cherries and a flower’s kiss in spring. I could call this “summer wine”.

On my skin La Panthere is composed of two competing fragrances that go to war. Spoiler alert: the bad guy won. My body chemistry amplifies the sweetness of any fragrance and it makes me sad.
La Panthere opens with a heavy dose of animalic gardenia. It’s dirty, it’s sexy, it’s feline, it’s sweet, it’s pungent, it’s absolutely intoxicating. This army is being led by Lauren Bacall. She’s heading up a mass of orcs, but…sexy orcs. Obviously.
Within 20 minutes a jammy dried apricot begins to emerge and takes its place on the battle field. Sickly sweet, rotten fruit in the rubbish bin for 5 days in the middle of summer, putric and sticky. This army has no leader, it is a swarm of fruit. It’s the Borg with a compost heap controlling the hive. Resistance is futile. Even Lauren Bacall must assimilate.
The one moment it appears that Lauren Bacall will win, the next the fruit Borg overpower. This goes on for about an hour, with animalic gardenia orcs putting up a respectable fight. Alas, jammy fruit Borg hive has more strength and in a final deciding moment, animalic gardenia Bacall waves a white flag and retreats back into the depths of oblivion. Jammy fruit Borg hive, never a gracious winner, proceeds to stomp around crashing and banging so as to be sure that no one is unaware that jammy fruit won.
And that’s where it ends. The sickly sweet side stays not only dominant but loud for many hours. I’ve never encountered a fragrance that competed so much with itself. I don’t know if this is pure artistry or poor blending, but it absolutely does not work for me.
Edit: Got a little carried away with the analogy there. No Lauren Bacalls, orcs or Borgs were harmed in the writing of this review.

wearing la panthere makes me feel like one of those italian divas with big hair and generous cleavage, heavy makeup and coarse voice. it gives me that dark side of confidence that i wasn’t even aware of. one of the best perfumes of the decade, it totally deserves its place in perfume hall of fame

There was this video on youtube where Laurent explains in detail the concept of creation for La Panthère as it supplants Cartier’s Panthère. There she goes on to explain that she wanted to highlight the felinity of a woman by using Gardenia—a representation she best believes to embody a panther. She goes on to say that every flower has a animalic side to it and by that she needed to make the gardenia more animalic and voluptuous by using musks.
La panthère remains to be one of the best releases of the decade. A neo-chypre for it toned down the more serious citrus and oakmoss combination in exchange for leather and fruits. It is not subordinate in beauty nor in excellence for I find that an intensified gardenia under a chypre and leather base is wonderful. It’s sweet but not the brainless kind. I think there is a darkness to it and it delights me.
A terrific perfume boasting of its tenacity and longevity.

After few days using Panther, I go back to Amouage Beloved. The musk (beaver) on Beloved turns out something bitter smelling. It is due to my skin chemical reaction changed after used Panther.
The perfumer said, she creates the musky feline smell from Gardenia mixture. So the conclusion is, after using Panther, there’s no going back. The musky notes from Panther clashes with other musky perfumes and made them smell bad. I had the same experience with Chanel no 5 with other aldehyde perfumes. Chanel no 5 will knock off her competitors and made them smell bad.

Mathilde is a genius! She had recreate a scent of some sort of feline, or maybe some cat. The scent of a feline fur coat.
No wonder few reviewer here said this is the scent of a multi-million or billionaire. These kind of people have the guts to wear a fur coat and not disturbed by the oily scent of the fur coat.
People with faint of heart will sure get scared away by this perfume scent.
Men or women, young or old, all can wear this perfume, as long as they are not annoyed by the feline scent.
The Panther shares the same musky smells with Amouage Beloved

I am wearing this to blur gender lines. I get compliments when I wear this. It is quite polarizing when a man like me wears it. Forget Bleu De CHANEL. This is how to be unexpected.

Have been neglecting to review items of my existing collection, as I said I would at the beginninig.
I think the reason I neglected this is that at first I focussed on what I called ‘radical’ ones. This is to my mind not radical, unless being an extreme instance of a great classic or great success be taken under that ‘umbrella’. I do think that is what this is, and I know there is a significant corpus of people who think so. This is set to be one of the all-time classics, like Shalimar, and No.5, etc.
So when I say this, I express an ‘orthodox’ opinion. It just basically ticks all the boxes, if what you want is simply a good solid perfume to go out wearing, and to be a perfume pleasant to oneself, and to those generally around in one’s vicinity – particularly persons not particularly into perfume. It’s not designed to ‘rock boats’ or anything like that, or to make any grand statement, or anything like that, but simply to be thoroughly good and thoroughly pleasant … but at least mighty impressive. And it is all these things.
I hadn’t really thought much about its composition until now. I am very surprised oakmoss is so high in the list – I wouldn’t have said this is an oakmossy fragrance; and also I am surprised at anyone bringing out a fragrance leaning heavily on oakmoss in 2014. But maybe here the distinction between oakmoss and oakmossy note is crucial here – maybe Cartier are satisfied that they have a way of rendering that note that they can stick with without vexation by any regulatory body? And Gardenia is the main flower note, then. Frankly, I didn’t know that; and anyway, this is a masterpiece of blending I think: I do not think this sets out to present any one particular flower pre-eminently. It just comes across,TMM, as bright, sparkling, yet deep, sanguine, ‘alive’, sweet but just enough so … all the good – but generally acceptible in the world-at-large – things piled on in generous measure!
Altogether, just superb – and ‘wearable’, if what you mean vy that is that you can go pretty much anywhere wearing it and it will have pretty much no shock effect at all – just an “I’m sporting serious quality!” effect.

The sexiest perfume ever smell !!!

Oh it’s soooo lovely and so different!
The oakmoss + gardenia blend pops out right away and there’s a feeling of a dried fruit mix (that includes dried raisins, dried apricots, as well as dried strawberries and especially dried and fresh rhubarb) is right there. I might be anosmic with the musk or maybe it’s just blended too well that I can’t pull it out. Same with the patchouli. If it wasn’t listed, I wouldn’t have noticed it. The anise, however, tingles on my tongue a light licorice sweetness (I have a weird synesthesia situation that involves taste, and it comes and goes.)
This is such a beautiful scent and so unique. It’s a very sophisticated kind of sexy, like something a CEO of a multi-million dollar company would wear.
In my imagination, I see a very beautiful woman in her 40’s wearing this. Her glossy hair is in a slick chignon and she is wearing a super-expensive business suit that you can tell just by the fabric. With a slim fit pencil skirt and a deep-V cut neckline and diamonds dripping everywhere. And she’s descending on the roof of a skyscraper with her helicopter. It’s that kind of “In charge and beautiful” feeling, but calm and relaxed at the same time. Never screaming for attention.
But this can totally be unisex, and even a 15-16 year old boy or girl can wear this, but they really have to have that confidence and have their shit together. This isn’t a perfume for insecure people.
I really love this! It’s on my top 10 for sure. I only wish it was stronger, so I will have to check out the other flankers. If I find a stronger version I will come back here and add it to this review.

    This perfume is my alter-ego.
I absolutely love the smell of it. If I would have to choose one signature fragrance, Le Panther would be it.
It is a beautiful floral musky perfume. Very long lasting. It lasts forever on me.
You can wear it all year round. Perfect for day wear and evening wear as well. It is elegant, sophisticated and sexy at the same time. To me this is my special occasion perfume.
It is my go to scent when I want to make a great impression.
Will always have a bottle in my collection <3

I just received this. After purchasing Panthere Noir version last year by mistake !!! I did not care for the Noir version at all,so I thought the regular Panthere would be the same result..So, I sniffed it at Macy’s first, and wow…I loved it,came home and ordered a bottle from eBay…(auction). Yea !!
At first I get gardenia…the it’s all Chypre to me,which is a GREAT thing for me. I love chypres.
The gardenia is a “pale” gardenia, only “in your face” at first spritz, then the other notes merge in and take over, leaving the gardenia underneath. The floral-ness of this does stay with you. It is,so far a big LIKE for me.
This almost smells retro/classic from years ago, especially in the drydown.Profects moderately and sillage IMO, is medium. If you like/love this type of scent, but with more citrus vibe/sparkly vibe go with the Panthere Legere…although that one is not as nice..
EDIT: After a few wears, I find the drydown SO similar to…Chanel Coco edp. Very interesting !!!

Oh, I’m so bummed! I tried this on and got the first scent of gardenia, which I loved, and I was ready to run out and buy this! But then the woody notes started to overpower the beautiful gardenia. Finally, by drydown I could still smell a bit of gardenia, but the cedar or pine trees, or whatever it was, just ruined it. If I could just get rid of those trees, this would be a perfect gardenia for me!

It was a blind buy for me, I wasn’t sure if I like it, definitely not a hate. It’s just unique, and rather masculine. Some days I would spray on my wrist just for a whiff.
I’m back for my second review: sprayed on my arms today after leaving it alone for many months, surprisingly different from the first time. Here I was greeted by burst of sweet fruit concoction and it lingered for a good 10min, followed by a musky gardenia, the scent somewhat grew stronger as the minutes passed.. after half an hour it mellowed down beautifully on my skin. I’m glad I didn’t give up on it after the first try. No it isn’t a masculine perfume, it is bold and sexy. a woman wearing this knows exactly what she wants ❤️

This scent is hard to describe! It’s mossy, green and slightly sour in the opening. It becomes more fruity and sweet after it warms up. It’s classy and I like how this combines. The result reminds me of a fancy herbal skin cream.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

This does have a unique scent. The best word for it is retro. It smells like an old school fragrance. It is strangely pleasant to me, even though it is very different from what I usually like.
It is a rose perfume mainly, that is the most obvious note. The others I can’t describe, I think one needs to sniff this, you should never ever blind buy this one!
It is among those perfumes which I cannot pull off because it is too mature for me, but I am still fascinated by the scent and find it quite addictive.
I do not smell anything offensive, no cat piss or whatever others smelt. It is an unusual perfume but still pleasant and not weird or stinky. It is definitely one you should try when you have the occasion.
The bottle is wonderful (duh!) but what I like the most is the sprayer, I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s kind of like a harmonica? I love pushing it down and I’d buy the bottle just for that.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

Fruity jam, musky gardenia, and then dry oakmoss.
The bottle is awesome! I got the 2.5 oz and I’m actually sad to see the chiseled panther is INSIDE the bottle… haha… and the bottle is rectangular and smooth. I was expecting cut glass I suppose. I love the weight of it tho! I have an arsenal of bottles/weapons in case I have to fight off a burglar.
This is my first tissue test (I made the mistake of wearing Black Orchid today… so I’ll be wearing that for 24 hours… lol….) and it’s kinda generic. Fruity floral.
But inhale deeply about 1 hour later…. And there is the dirty/animal/leather and oakmoss dryness. You know how something you eat has an after-taste? This has an after-smell. I was hoping this would be more like true vintage chypre, but overall… it’s nice. Easy to wear and hard to dislike. But it’s hard to love… especially with ALL the perfumes out there.
There is something skanky/musky… which I don’t hate…. but it’s been 1.5 hours and I’m finding one squirt on a tissue has almost faded to nothing. Bummer.
I will add to this if my proper wear brings out anything review-worthy. 😉
I see Miss Dior Original mentioned, and that is one of my faves… the vintage green chypre. The “after-smell” of this does remind me of a fraction of Miss Dior. Except there is still a fruity-musk-gardenia to it.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

I love everything about this except the dried fruit (apricot?) note. To my nose it smells very similar to vintage Miss Dior; it’s actually a better modern interpretation than the actual new version of Miss Dior. I just wish it didn’t have the damn dried fruit note that my skin projects during the dry down.

the opening is a spicy white floral, in the same vibe of some 80‘s and 90‘s classics, the difference is that this one is muskier and more elegant, but it isn‘t my cup of tea. for me, it is dated and boring. Projection could be better too. this is not a bad fragrance but there are cheaper and more interesting perfumes in this category out there.

  39. :

Patchouli, oak moss, leather…i dont know.. Kind of masculine combination. It feels weird on my skin, sharp, at first alcoholic; later turns rosy…My mom loves it, but it’s a no from me 🙂

Cartier La Panthere turned out to be a lot more pleasant than I expected it to be. I’m a huge fan of the brand’s classic range, from Le Baiser du Dragon to vintage Must de Cartier. I was pleased to discover that La Panthere has that classic Cartier feel.
I love that this fragrance is an animalic floral chypre. La Panthere stands out amongst the generic white florals that line the department store shelves.
The composition opens with lush, buttery gardenia blooms and a sweet, dried apricot aroma. This blend is both feminine and unique on the skin. As the scent progresses however, the scent becomes muskier and quite unusual with oakmoss, patchouli and a subtle hint of leather.
Whenever I wear La Panthere I feel that I need to match its elegance by wearing expensive jewellery and a pair of stiletto heels. It’s a beautiful, grown woman type of scent. La Panthere is not a fragrance I would recommend for the younger consumers despite its fruity top notes.
The longevity was impressive, lasting a decent seven hours on my skin with a few light sprays. The sillage is however relatively soft so it will not overpower those closest to you.

This is the first perfume I ever found which smelled the way I wanted to smell. I used to dislike most, that changed in the past year, but there are still not that many I would wear on me. This fragrance is perfection, feminine yet strong and independent. It leaves air of mystery and magic behind. Smells rich, but I don’t find it lavish or overbearing. It’s very subtly oriental and musky, very woody, but also definitely not heavy. Smells like a woman wearing a suit and smoking, masculine, with shiny locks and red lips. Very Marlene Dietrich- like.

  42. :

Bought some samples of “la panthère” edp and “la panthere legere” edp. At first I liked the legere version better, but now I am shifting towards the Original edp. It has the same chique as “so pretty” had. Grown up and feminine. La panthère has a bit more of the I-am-a strong-and-independent-woman aura, which I like. When I am throught my 15ml of sample, I want to buy a full bottle. And it is a pretty bottle too, by the way. Love it. And if somebody thinks it is obnoxious (really?), I don’t care. Just don’t take a bath in it. Simple.

Smells like Nivea lotion! I like it. Wouldn’t buy it. Couldn’t detect individual notes. I dunno. It’s just.. nivea ? Ha

  44. :

    3 out of 5

I tried it in a sample. My impressions: it smells expensive. Deep, sweet, leathery, woody, oakmoss-y, feels like an elegant lady in a hat having lunch in a fancy restaurant. But the other impression that I have is a memory from the 1980s, of how the samples in the fashion magazines like Vogue smelled. Rich, mix of an expensive perfume with glossy paper.
I like it and wouldn’t mind having a bottle.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

Quick change of mind. At first I liked it because it seems unique and not a typical female perfume, especialy not the type I normally wear. Its somewhat deep and woodsy but as I’m wearing it…something’s coming through I don’t like…Ketone musk, what is that?! Arent kjetones what come off ypur breath in a diabetic emergency? I don’t like oakmoss much either so that’s likely the culprit. Its too forward and too manly and frankly I like my scents to be more subtle not ” punch in the face”. Lol.
My boyfriend wasn’t thrilled either. We usually agree in scents. He didn’t say so but I can tell he this is its too ” old” for me .

  46. :

    5 out of 5

I don’t see what’s the hype around this perfume. I do agree that it smells elegant and complex but after smelling this on a person I just thought it was obnoxious and too flowery. I also personally smelt this via my wrist and it was just overpowering. It’s just too vintage for me – sorry.

  47. :

My new favourite! So fresh, so perfect, so teasing, so longlasting, so everything I love about a scent. The mix of fresh oakmoss, gardenia and musk is lovely. Its not weak – not in your face neither. I feel like a rich girl wearing La Panthere.

Reading through the reviews and am slightly mystified by mikemuscles21 comments:
“I have no idea where people are getting leather from here? It’s not one of the notes and I don’t smell it…”
Leather is clearly listed as being in the base notes.
Errr… Or am I seeing (and smelling) things?

  49. :

    5 out of 5

La Panthere is a bit of a throwback in the best possible way. Most modern fragrances are very clean, sweet and fruity. Even the grand perfume houses have gone to more sweet and linear fragrances.
I wouldn’t say La Panthere is mature, as much as it’s self-assured – very much in the way Parure is self-assured. La Panthere isn’t a candy bomb and it’s not over-eager. La Panthere revels in all its mossy glory. Is there some sweet? Yes, but it’s taking the back seat to moss, musk and a tiny bit of leather.
Overall, La Panthere is a lovely fragrance with refined projection and great longevity.

This is glorious! An instant “want” which hasn’t happened to me in a long while. It’s beautiful mix of gardenia, musk and oak moss on my skin, do not detect any fruits, dried fruits or rhubarb until the dry-down when the gardenia gives way to those notes. Loving the leather which is very subtle but detectable all along.
Pretty long lasting as well, projection is moderate with 2 small sprays.

What a beautiful, classy and elegant fragrance. As expected from Cartier. Beautiful.
Very feminine and ‘rich’, but not snob or boring.
Mostly oakmoss, rhubarb and dried fruit, with a hint of gardenia. Very nicely blended floral and fruity, yet also woody and even earthy.
Not a standard pop frag, plus the bottle is gorgeous.
Silage and longevity are brilliant as well.

Smells like moneyed good taste, but that’s the effect oakmoss always has in women’s fragrances. Luminous and carnal in a very polished sort of way.
    Too perfect for words.

First off, I applaud Cartier for not falling into the ‘cookie cutter’ fragrance abyss.. You know, so many frag’s in recent years have begun to all smell alike, or are candy-bombs.. So I applaud Cartier for creating a more ‘unique’ fragrance.
This is my second review for this, as I seem to struggle with this one…It is unique, that is for sure!!
Some may see this as a ‘mature’ (not old) woman’s fragrance. I see this as a fragrance being worn by a woman who is confident and comfortable in life. So, to that end, yes, perhaps this is a more mature fragrance. But again, anyone can wear this, obviously, if they like this. It just has a certain ‘vibe’ to it.. Sort of like Juicy Couture is in general a young woman’s fragrance, but can be enjoyed by anyone.
Anyhoo, I digress. This reminds me of along the lines of an 80’s powerhouse fragrance. For me, the oakmoss, musk, and leather are very prominent here. I do not detect any white floral. I do not detect any fruit (perhaps a bit of the dried fruits, if anything), and at times, slight hints of the patchouli, ylang ylang and anise; the rose note is not hiding, either. Rhubarb is non existent here for me. I wish, I had a lovely neighbor lady when I was growing up, she grew rhubarb, and it was always such a treat when she gave us some from her garden. Rhubarb can be lovely in a frag, but I do not detect it here.
This is a lovely creation, classy and classic. But it can be a little bit much for those with sensitive noses, allergies, etc. So I do not think this is office appropriate, unless used very lightly and sparingly. But I think this is great for weekends, vacations, weddings, special events, that sort of thing, or possibly even just snuggling by the fireplace during a rain.
I can see this being a great signature fragrance. It is not one of those that is unmemorable/ easily forgettable, which there have been many ‘unmemorable’ fragrances released in recent years. This is in a total class of it’s own and stands out, in a classy way. Well done, Cartier!!!

This one is an intriguing concoction. Moss, musk, leather and gardenia. I can’t stop sniffing my wrist even though the slightly bitter opening kinda repulsed me for a second. Then before I know it my nose is buried in my wrist. The leather note is very noticible to me. I find Le Panthere to be a very lovely modern chypre. Amazing silage. I must have a FB!

This is beautiful. A floral orange mix with a nice dose of moss. I don’t understand why people think it’s sexy, though? It’s very nice, but I don’t get “sexy”. Different strokes.

I’m getting mainly a sharp rose scent, long lasting, pleasant I suppose.

An elegant, grown up and hmmm … not wild, but undomesticated scent. It has an wild side, but not passionate warm which screams ”I’m a sensual woman” (see Dolce&Gabbana); on the contrary, it’s cold and exult danger. Like a big, dangerous cat. Gorgeous, soft lines and cozy fur, but still a killing machine.
The opening is strong, somewhat green, and the gardenia and anise combo makes me think on the bitterness in Niki de Saint Phalle’s perfume.
The leading element here is clearly gardenia, but if you’re looking for a nice, mild and creamy one, just forget about La Panthère. You’ll never own it, it will own you.

This is the first perfume I have fallen in love with since Fendi Woman or Givenchy Indecence. This has that same star quality of being totally original, memorable and mesmerizing. I had to come to this website to see what was in it. For me, it was clean white powder with an undertone of oriental flower but not over powering. As soon as I looked it up, I realized it was the gardenia but it doesn’t smell like glaring gardenia at all. It is very complex, rich and quite beautiful. After a couple of hours, it is still very good but the dried fruit comes through a little too much for me, but the clean overall powdery fragrance more than makes up for this. Can’t wait to wear it to the office! If they had gone with more oriental spice underneath instead of dried fruit, it would have been even better. Overall, the best fragrance I have come across in the last 10 years!

I’ve tested La panthere several times. I still feel I can’t find the proper words to gather all its complexity here. All I can say is that La panthere is an extremely audacious release for 2014- maybe that’s why is called La panthere- haha. Adding such a strong note of oak moss in 2014 , that’s really something! I don’t have very much experience with niche perfumes, but this one hit me just like L’eau de Merveille did. Such standing out from the crowd perfumes! Gorgeous, piece of art compositions.(without having anything in common, of course). Although i’m turning 40 this year, i’m still kind of shy wearing it. I do associate it with a bitchy kind of old person I didn’t necessarily like, who wore La panthere and smoked a lot, making me associating this beauty with some mixed feelings. Amazing, having both a contemporary and vintage vibe like someone experienced and experiencing a lot in their life, knowing exactly where they stand and who they are, bravely facing their demons..Just breathtaking and also making you deeply inhale to grab all its beauty. It will haunt you!
