What a fun little elegant scent we have here! Sandalwood and nutmeg, reminding me a *little* of Ma Liberte from Jean Patou. Just gorgeous, a little sweet here and a little herbaceous there. In a strange way, almost manly … but it seems to keep its genderless qualities intact with a very unusual nod back to the women’s scents from the days of old. Very enjoyable! I’m glad a good friend gave me this, along with Ma Liberte. I’m beginning to notice patterns in the things she’s given me and discern a sort of pattern. Very interesting!

Side note: I can’t find this fragrance in stores anymore and I can’t find info if this has been discontinued.
It took me a while to get into this fragrance. This isn’t your typical crowd pleaser (like Si by Armani), but something very refined and satisfying if you’re into this type of scents.
For reference: on my skin, gourmand fragrances and chypres smell best, the worst on my skin are typical fresh and floral scents.
On me, this develops as follows:
top notes (first 1-2h) – NUTMEG and more NUTMEG, musk, woody notes
    middle – can’t really detect
base notes (drydown) – florals and sandalwood, very tasty and classy
Everybody’s skin is different and this perfume will develop differently on you than it does on me, however if you don’t like nutmeg, I would recommend testing it before buying. If you do like nutmeg, then run and get it, because whole composition dances around nutmeg for almost whole time of wear.
I need to be really in the mood to wear this and this is usually autumn or early spring fragrance for me. In the summer, nutmeg and musk become too strong.

So I am wearing a sample sent to me and with the first sampling I thought it wasn’t bad. So I wore it for the day but didn’t pick out anything distinctive so was waiting to rotate it as i’ve been sampling other things.
Today, I sprayed some on after a luxurious soak in the bath and applied more then I did the last time and straight away I realised that it is far to masculine for me personally. I was blasted with a citrus, musk and my head literally started to spin !
I instantly regretted it, which NEVER happens to me and was tempted to wash it off but thought “wait, lemme see what it dries down too” so 2 hrs later it has and is much more subtle. I can still smell the fragrance as a whole and I’ve come to the conclusion that it won’t be a favorite, unfortunately.
The white flowers are just drowned out in this and the musk battles with the contrasting citrus and produces a very odd combination.

Apparently I am wearing this, because I just bought this (Nov 2016) from a trustworthy Italian online shop (Ivo Milan), and the other [white] Yohji for women is discontinued. However, when I look at the notes lists (above), I only smell those from the “other” Yohji, not these that I am supposed to notice. I don’t get any bergamot, I don’t get any nutmeg or jasmine or freesia. How is it possible? In the beginning this is very green and masculine to me, also I get some powdery notes. Later on, the scent gets more feminine, it is kind of powdery vanilla. All in all, this is quite magnificent, as this is both usual and unique at the same time! This kind of reminds me of so many other (ordinary department store) fragrances – and still, this is totally different from any of them. For me this is very strong (in all possible meanings), warm and personal. I keep sniffing my arm all the time, can’t get enough of of this. I also agree in this being a chypre scent, as all my all time favorites belong to that group. Recommended to other chypre lovers.

i just snaffled a bottle of this on eBay, wondering if it was my old favourite from the 90’s and it is. hello old friend.
back then, it felt very unique and i do believe i bought in it Harrods when it was launched. someone was squirting people with this new release, as we walked by. My boyfriend had staff discount. That’s where i first discovered Boudoir too. And Shocking. Used to love visiting that shiney perfume department before i met him after work outside the staff entrance. another life.
i have tested it on paper and Yohiji is a potent little number. sweet, a bit fruity, unisex, a touch aromatic. there is that sweet cardboardy smell in there for me too. the main notes for me are the vanilla, musk and sandalwood. sharpened with a dash of something aromatic, cypress perhaps? but is there cypress in this? it smells like lavender to me! and i can smell blackberry leaves and some patch. jasmine? nope.
it is so strange (and tricky) dissecting a perfume i just used to spray on and forget about and one that has allegedly been reformulated or at least re-nosed.
will have to come back to this one on skin another time.
i was wearing Lothair last night, an aromatic spicey, with a good dose of vanilla in it – and these two oddly remind me of eachother. aromatic vanilla. but according to the Yohji website, there’s no vanilla in this. ho hum.
still love Yohji and i would recommend hunting it down, as i can see that it is out of stock online, after 3 short years, other than eBay.
let’s hope it’s just because they are changing the bottle design or something.

I have just bought this from Boots for peanuts. It must be one of my bargain of the year! It is the edt but it is so potent. Yes, the freesia is the dominant note (I can find it rather peppery) but it is perfectly smoothed and balanced with the musk, cypress and lime. This is perfect for spring. So invigorating! A breath of fresh air amongst the sea of sweety perfumes that are everywhere.

Does anyone know where I can buy this perfume in New York? I’ve been waiting for so long to get it since it was discontinued! I tried all the online stores but they do not ship internationally 🙁 (Selfridges, House of Fraser, Debenhams, boots)
This perfume reminds me of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche 😉

I’m very glad its back, I used to wear original, but it was years ago, and I had forgotten how delicious it was. I just popped in to Selfridges today to try it out again, and its on my re-purchase list. Great one!
