White Diamonds Elizabeth Taylor for women of Elizabeth Taylor

Share:

Description

The success of Elizabeth Taylor‘s fragrance has motivated many other celebrities to launch their own perfumes. White Diamonds is a sheer floral fragrance, an example of top classics. The harmony of flowers and aldehydes in the top notes, together with the sharp base, give this fragrance an elegant vintage nuance. The top notes are aldehydes, bergamot, neroli, orange and lily. The heart unites the classical trio, violet, rose and jasmine, accompanied by ylang-ylang, Egyptian tuberose and narcissus. The base is composed of oak moss, patchouli, musk, sandalwood and amber. The perfume was created by Carlos Benaim in 1991, and was inducted into the Fragrance Foundation’s Hall of Fame in 2009.

If you are tired of the same musky floral or sticky bonbon scents that are popular nowadays, if you like florals boosted by aldehydes yielding a bombastic bouquet, and if you want people around you to actually notice what you are wearing, then you should give White Diamonds a try. I think wearing powerful classical scents like this one has more to do with confidence than age, hence you wear it when you are comfortable with the attention it gets you.
White Diamonds sparkles with lots of white and yellow florals, it is a warm and cozy scent with a dry base. Its performance is absolutely fantastic with a huge sillage and it lasts almost forever. It can be worn anytime, maybe with the exception of scorching hot summer days, but it is probably best suited for colder weather and/or special occasions. Personally I am a big fan of this fragrance, so I bought three flankers of it, loving every one of them too.

I am a nurse, and I now take care of a very sweet lady who always wears this. It’s not a bad smell, just strong. You have to be careful how much you put on. And it is a smell for mature (not old) women, I don’t think a young lady could pull this off. Not bad, I’ve smelled worse perfumes.

In the early 1990’s my mother had a awakening of faith and decided that going to church on Sundays would become part of our family routine. Before this time church was a twice a year event Christmas and Easter, but from 1992-1996 we went every week. As a young child I would run around the church common areas playing hide and seek and just having fun in general with my friends. Often times we would end up hiding amongst the coats in the cloakroom. White Diamonds was a very popular fragrance and I swear every women wore perfume to church back then, liberally.
In the beginning of my retail career I happened apon a bottle of WD in the department at work. I was a hot headed 20 year old that really was only just discovering perfumes. I’m ashamed to say it now but I recoiled at the smell from the bottle and exclaimed that it was ” so old lady”. Little did I know.
A few years ago I was shopping in my local drugstore, it was Christmas time and all the value sets were proudly on display. I saw the Elizabeth Taylor collection set for a reasonable price with Violet Eyes which I remember linking very much so I buy it.
I spray White Diamonds for the first time in a decade and I’m instantly transported to the church cloakroom. The warmth and beauty of this jem are so comforting and nostalgic. Its stunning and enveloping. In the opening I’m reminded of the moment you press your thumb into the peel of a clementine and break it the crisp oily citrus smell. Then is all aldehydes an almost masculine soap smell. After that passes you get a bombastic white floral resting on a magical oriental base. For me it’s a cool weather evening fragrance. I do wear it throughout the year occasionally to bed but I get the most use of it around Christmas. Honestly a masterpiece that truly represents a bygone era. I also have a mini of the parfum which is Devine. Everyone should wear this at least once in their lifetimes.

What’s with the hate? Wow this is gorgeous! I just managed to test it now and it’s a wonderful blend of white florals, on a warm base and not so aldehydic on my skin. It does have a slightly retro vibe but that just makes it smell more expensive and womanly to me. Love it!

White Diamonds was the first grown up perfume I stole sprays of from my Mom’s bottle on my way out the door to go to high school- and people can dismiss it as “old lady” but there is nothing of the kind in this scent, and even at 15 I wore it confidently and drew compliments from people every time I sprayed it on.
It is spicy and sexy and maybe more suited for women of any age that own their right to stand out and be powerful- there is nothing in this scent that would appeal to the understated.
I have never thought of this scent as a floral- probably because on my skin the florals burn off almost immediately and it is all about the salty patchouli and oakmoss and that is all I smell until it fades away, a respectable 6 or 7 hours later, even with the EDT.
Elizabeth Taylor was a straight up bombshell in her day, elegant and gorgeous with just enough sass to keep her relatable and interesting- and to me, White Diamonds has always been a decent representation of the lady herself.
Complicated, sexy, beautiful and not for everybody- and that is ok.

I do love White Diamonds, but I decided to retire my bottle and gave it to an aunt I knew would like it more.
White Diamonds has never been soapy for me. It’s always been an insanely bombastic white floral bouquet that is strangely warm, and I have adored it. I have reviewed it previously too. But as I’ve severely downsized my collection, it hasn’t quite made the cut.
I’m only keeping fragrances I can’t get enough of smelling, and unfortunately for me, the big fresh floral bouquet is a perfume that I only reach for in summer, and I feel bad for neglecting this fine lady for the rest of the year. I will be admiring it on ladies that I serve at work, but I don’t think I will ever own a bottle again until I can appreciate more than just for a few months a year. I’ll leave it to those who love it the most!

It smells like growing up to me. My mother had this when I was a kid. I revisited it looking for a lily, and this is very lily. The aldehydes smell fresh and like water to me, while the lily is peppery. I always picture her makeup and dresser when I smell this and I’ve kept a little dribble in my bottle to sniff every now and then. Classy and elegent, though I think aldehydes don’t suit me too well!

This perfume is my mother’s signature scent so that could be a reason as to why I like it so much. It has a beautiful, classic and comforting scent. It is a very long lasting fragrance and gets many compliments. On countless occasions my mum would be asked by predominantly male customers in her shop what she was wearing and that it was lovely. A few men going on to say they will purchase it for their wives. It is a more mature / older woman fragrance but absolutely could be worn by the right woman in her 20s. Very affordable and great projection. Classy, elegant and comforting.

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous fragrance and I will wear it forevermore (amongst my other favourites, of course). The creamy smell, for me, conjures up past holidays when I have taken my White Diamonds Travel items – soap, talc, body crème & EDP – and indulged myself in the shower so the days and trips out are always associated with this aroma (Miracle is another holiday favourite of mine). I have branched out into a few other of the Elizabeth Taylor diamonds perfumes but none are a patch on the original.

I am biased; I love White Diamonds, always have, ever since it came out. I never wore it when it first came out because I was still rockin’ my spicy chypres and orientals, like Fendi EDP and Coco EDT. I was not into obvious florals at the time. It became my Grandma’s scent almost as soon as it was released, and she loved it. We all loved it on her. My Grandma passed away in 2007, and I bought myself a small EDT for old times sake…and started to wear it to bed for comfort (I cried for a year after my Grandma died…she was my buddy).
And then, I realized how much I loved it on me. I sought out the vintage EDP and pure parfum and knew I found the versions that worked better with my skin chemistry. She wore the EDP when it was first released, but said she preferred the EDT (it smelled softer on her). The vintage pure parfum is now my signature scent.
I was nearly 20 when it was released, and now I am in my 47th revolution around the sun. In comparison to a 20-year old, I may be seen as “old” but age is relative, right? I mean, compared to Betty White (God, I LOVE that woman!) I am a little whippersnapper. There ain’t nuthin’ wrong or bad about being “old” because…
…if you are lucky, you will get older 😉
So, bring on the “old lady” scents, because if White Diamonds gets categaorized as “old lady” I will be lucky enough to make it to an older age, hopefully triple digits! But I promise, I will have a driver by then (LOL!), sitting in the back of my plush sedan, scented in White Diamonds…

I don’t agree, I think it is suited to who loves White Diamonds, nowadays a small minority.I am an older woman and don’t like WD, hate aldehydic perfumes, the ban of my teenage years. Perhaps someone growing up in these gourmand sweet times will like aldehydic scents and love WD.

  12. :

White Diamonds definitely had its place in a certain time period. Like most retro aldehydic perfumes, the fragrance is best suited for older women.

big white floral with aldehydes, jasmine, tuberose and ylang prominent with some neroli and lily present; oakmoss starts to show itself as the top burns off, then the sandalwood, musk and patch to deepen the florals and let them ride

I tried with this one several times last winter and spring but it was too overwhelming. Finally today, a warm dry summer day, something clicked. WD is gorgeous. It purrs. It unfurls on warmed skin like a fizzy, powdery, animalic, floral caress, perfectly balanced and in harmony. This is the EDT — I can only imagine how swoon-worthy the parfum must be. Season, weather, temperature really do make a difference on how fragrance is perceived. WD is a retro treasure, not to be missed if you like perfumes with a backbone.

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a perfume changing so much from formulation to formulation. I’ve had three bottles of this in my life and each one has been rather different. In one, the aldehydes and ylang would be bright and sparkly. In another, the aldehydes would be dense and ‘fat’.
Regardless of these changes, this still remains to be one of my absolute favourite fragrances in the world. So bright, cheerful and optimistic.

Every time I wear this beautiful scent I have to move past the noise in my head: “that’s church lady perfume!” “it’s sold at Big Lots!” “Everyone over 80 wears that!” Of course it helps that my grandma lived to 89 and was still getting propositioned 🙂
Just ignore all the hate and test this fragrance on its own merits. It’s among my top 3 perfumes and I own a lot of them, including far trendier stuff. White Diamonds is a clean, soapy white floral with a tingly aldehyde top. It dries down to a richer, deeper lily/narcissus/woods finish. It’s very pretty and surprisingly easy to wear. Yeah, it’s a bit old-skool but so what? I like what I like.
I think it’s the aldehydes that really throw people who are used to fruity body sprays & such. Aldehydes were first used in Chanel No 5 (1921) and they are used liberally in classic perfumes to provide a soapy, fizzy “lift” to topnotes. Examples of other perfumes with prominent aldehydes include White Linen, Pleasures. Nocturnes de Caron, and Lady Stetson. They just aren’t used much in more modern scents, which is a loss if you ask me.
Anyway, the nice thing about White Diamonds is, it smells great and it’s cheap! Plus the corresponding body products are really nice quality and highly scented. I have some tubes of the body cream and a big thing of powder, along with the eau de toilette. They all smell amazing— but this is a powerful fragrance and many users overdo it so please don’t “layer” multiple products!

This is a very classic smelling scent. It has amazing longevity and projection and I say that as someone who for the most part finds nearly all scents poor. My skin just eats scent.
My mother wears White Diamonds and it is a classy and elegant scent. It does not really suit my persona but I appreciate it for what it is. It’s old school glamour. It is very much representative of the lady to whose name it belongs.
Such a scent may not be en vogue at the moment but it will be back!

So White Diamonds is a little old school, sure…but it’s totally wearable. My husband loves this one on me, which is a BIG plus in my book because I’ve been going through a phase where I only want to wear classic fragrances and he’s not a fan of my “old lady” stuff.. he prefers sweet fragrances. Well this one is definitely sweet! Syrupy sweet white florals and soapy aldehydes give this fragrance a grownup but still playful vibe. This is the scent of a woman with class but is still down to earth and fun, and there’s a bit of sexiness in there too.. but I always find tuberose fragrances sexy 🙂
There’s a hippie/head shop patchouli note that surfaces here and there and I LOVE it. The juxtaposition of the earthy patchouli and the sweet shimmery vibe of the fragrance has made this one of my all time favorites.
By the way, be careful buying used bottles of this one. When it goes bad, it goes BAD. The lily note becomes very sour. I found this out the hard way! Good thing WD is so cheap!

I agree with everyone before me – it may have a bit of a `grandma-auntie` association, but it is a truly beautiful, classic, creamy white floral scent, rich and long-lasting, affordable..I see no reason not to adore this scent for what it truly is! It quickly turns soapy on me, which I absolutely love; it`s mainly a lily-sandalwood-tuberose combo on my skin otherwise. Old-school classic, taking a bow!

A woman at the bus stop was wearing this, and, I had to have it. It was like a summers day in the middle of winter; soft, sweet, and light. I didn’t appreciate this scent back in the day, girls use to drown themselves in it ( the excess of the 90’s) …..but, with a gentle application this scent is absolutely Beautiful.

I just had to come back to say, I am wearing this today and in a single afternoon out I had TWO separate people comment that my fragrance was beautiful! How’s that for “old lady?” And for the record, I am barely over 30 and I would be very, very surprised if the second person who complimented me today was even 25 yet!
Further proof that fragrance is ageless. Even White Diamonds. The key lies in application. I used like 1 1/2 sprays and you could smell it well enough to be complimented by someone a arms length or more away. That’s saying a lot. Be mindful of proper application, give it time to drydown, and you just may find yourself understanding this gorgeous classic with deeper complexity than arrogantly dismissing it as a “old lady” perfume.

The dreaded term old lady-ish often means we remember smelling this on an old aunty or neighbour. And since not everyone could afford to buy a guerlain gem, it means it is an affordable classic. That having said, White Diamonds starts with a powdery, soapy (aldehydic?) blast. Old Lady, indeed. But it is not bad, once you understand that thought. Later it morphs into a creamy flowery scent. And it holds forever. Not bad at all! And if you can get the body lotion, it is amazing, nice scent, devine texture. I am hunting down every reasonably priced tube of this stuff I can find.

According to the notes and personal experience, this fragrance makes you smell like you are having a special day. A special occasion, these are wedding flowers, fresh, aromatic, sublime, those white bouquets in weddings, celebrations, yes in funerals, in dinners, in interviews, in a beauty store centerstage, those found in galas, movie premiers, and restaurants. The lily, the tuberose, the jasmine, the narcissus, notes that express white petals, special feelings, a special moment, grace and beauty. This is class, tradition, a fragrance of memories, and elegance, and ethereal feelings, of transcendence. A classic fragrance …think ”wedding bouquet”.

I don’t have any perfumes with me on my weekend trip, so I tried this one again at mom’s house…and I was right-this is the opposite of how I want to smell. It’s strong, perfumy, old ladyish to my nose…I had to wash it off after a few minutes of tolerating it. I’m hoping to find a spicy or musky scent that I like to balance out the fruity, citrusy, airy florals I usually like. I’m 0 for 1.

The trick to wearing the powerhouses is to spray them on to a Q-tip and then apply to the pulse points. Don’t Spray -my God – three Sprays- you’d gas the room.
10 sprays into the bath water and you’ll smell really nice all day. This perfume got a really bad reputation because of over application.
When I wear this, it smells like lilies. I think of lilies all day long. So very pretty.
I don’t really notice the other notes. And it doesn’t remind me of Chanel 5 at all. The young ladies in the high school where I teach – I smell white diamonds all the time. So it’s not lost on the younger generation.

Dear God how I love this perfume. First wore it around 20 years ago and it has stuck in my scent favourites ever since. The old lady comments come from folk locked into numbers. thus will literally age as society conditions them to. Age is just a number and how I smell only matters to me. Perfume is total freedom for me.
White Diamonds evokes nice memories and a deeply feminine fragrance association – its a lady with style. Not in your face, but quietly confident of her allure and sexuality. Aldehydic for sure but that doesn’t last for long and adds a bubbly tone to the floral and incensey vibe that lingers like a soft blanket. Maybe its the association with how special i felt first wearing this as a young mum, but I love it most of the jewel creations, followed by Diamonds and Rubies which is more sexy romantic. This is a Summer uplifter for me. So glad I have this jewel back in my collection.

I tried this on the suggestion of several Fragrantica members on my quest for more aldehyde fragrances and YES… you were all so very right! This is beautiful. Why did I avoid it so long? I own other ET frags like Black Pearls and Gardenia but for some reason I always avoided this one. Whhhhhhhyyy? It’s gorgeous!
I might be nuts because I haven’t seen it mentioned by anyone else, but I got a hint of incense right away. Then joined the thick, creamy florals and a slightly spicy, powdered drydown. I do not get a stuffy “Bank of England” (that’s what the kids are calling it these days right? lol) smell from this at all. It’s mature, sure. But I wear it and I am a heavily tattooed, laid back, middle to upper middle class, woman in her early thirties. Not exactly a image in line with the reputation that was presented to me about this being a “Rich old lady fragrance.” What a grossly inaccurate label! I think it could easily be worn by a person of any age whose looking for a fragrance different than the usual boring drivel being pushed out today. It is pretty darn strong for a EDT so go easy on the atomizer. I only need about two sprays and I’m good for 5 hours.
All in all, this is a fragrance that I’m happy to have in my collection and wish I’d tried sooner. Don’t be swayed by the weird opinions of others, including mine! Try it for yourself. It’s easy enough to find and test. My Macy’s still sells it and has testers sitting out and everywhere else from Krogers, Rite Aid, Marshall’s/TJ/Ross sells it for dirt cheap. It’s not like it’s a tough one to try out.

I used to wear Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds when I was younger when it was first released “Back-in-the-day” as they say.I loved it.The strong white flowers. Then one day, presto, …I didn’t. Started giving me a headache. So, I said goodbye.
Recently, I was in a waiting room and a woman walked by she smelled like a powder puff. In a good way. Floral, powdery a bit of nice prominent Amber done well. I asked what she was wearing, she said; White Diamonds. I went out and bought some. From a drugstores.. which is a long way from the Macy’s it was originally sold in. At a much lower price. It’s still a nice classic perfume. But, not for everyday. Some days when it’s cool and dry out. It smells nice. But other days, it’s headache inducing. I guess what I’m saying is that this perfüme is for occasional use only. You really have to be in the mood for it. I won’t lie though, it does have that matronly fragrance of it. That’s not necessarily a negative thing. It can be comforting.

  29. :

I personally can’t understand all of the hate on this fragrance. This perfume is the perfume you think of when you think of old lady perfume, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s definitely white floral, musky, sweet, woody, and even a bit spicy. It’s very elegant and beautiful, but I couldn’t imagine this on a younger woman.

My First Husbands Mother wore this as her signature scent. I always liked the way she smelled, but never considered seriously wearing this in my 20’s in the early 2000’s. Now I’m a 37 year old Mother, nostalgia and Christmas Gift sets caused me to reach out and revisit this for myself. Perfume that is heavy with more than 7-10 notes ends up smelling more of the sum of all the parts then the individual notes for me. I just want to throw my two cents in and sort of stick up for this stunning fragrance that seriously can have a bad wrap at times with the younger crowd.
Do not over spray, and fight back in the beginning if you are immediately turned off. This stuff has to settle and marry into your skin before it can honestly be appreciated. If you know someone who wore this it may taint your opinion, so keep an open mind. Ultimately, this fragrance represents female power, beauty, and class. This is the cool, calm, collected confidence we all have hidden deep inside. This is sexy and nurturing. This is mature, not as in “old lady” but as in “I know who I am and will not be rattled or follow suggestion”. It is the scent of a Woman who knows who she is, and is not ashamed of her power.
I was surprised that my 17 year old Daughter after smelling this on me wanted to try it, and she likes it! I don’t see this becoming my signature, or something I wear everyday. But I can finally enjoy it and see it as something of my own, not this popular scent that is too “mature” for me. I guess I know who I am now, and can wear this as I am every woman…its all in MEEEEEEE!

Voluptuous, over-the-top glamour. Thanks to your mainly positive reviews, I overcame my aversion to celebrity/cheap fragrances, and tried White Diamonds EDT. Where the current trend is for girly gourmands, WD is all woman, like Liz herself. When it comes to application though, be advised by the words of another famous femme fatale, Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, who said, “Less is more”. At first, I get sweet lily, tempered by the aldehydes and sharp citrus notes. The carnation also keeps this sane. Someone mentioned that this is a fragrance for fancy occasions, and i agree, however I am loving WD EDT so much that I’ll be wearing it when I know I’ll be by myself, and apply crazily. Elizabeth Taylor lived life large, and her fragrance certainly does too.

For years I have hated white diamonds. I couldn’t stand it on myself, or on anyone else near by. It always gave me headaches and nausea. But, lately I ‘ve been craving bold, heavier 80s fragrances. I found a small purse spray of white diamonds on clearance for $6. I have to say, I’m really starting to like this now. White Diamonds smells warm and rich. I find myself wearing another scent, but still reaching for the little purse spray, to get a few sniffs. It’s the weirdest thing. I think people, including myself..have had an aversion to this fragrance because of over applying. It IS a very strong fragrance that should be treated with some respect( as in use sparingly) lol. Hmmm..maybe I should revist some of the other fragrances that I think I hate. 🙂

I really like this perfume, I bought it in one of those sets that come with the perfume, toilette, and lotions.
While I will say it’s very strong, it’s still very gentle. Because of its strength I would recommend moderation especially if your prone headaches.
It’s very powdery at first, but afterwards the white flowers really shine. I noticed neroli a lot. It mentions have a citrus note, bUT I would disagree. I find it almost entirely white flowers and that powdery smell.
White flowers however are very particular, so definitely test it on your skin first because it may not like you so much.
I don’t wear it as frequently because it’s so strong, but it’s definitely one of those fancy dinner, or church perfumes. Not the kind I’d wear just to hang out, but definitely worth it for fancier situations.

Here is another one that gets a bad wrap because it’s over sprayed by people who have been wearing it as their signature scent for years and can no longer smell it on themselves. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It reminds me (same vibe, not smell) as Avon’s Rare Pearls, which I love. I have the Perfume and it didn’t go great but the EDT is a lot more wearable. 2-3 sprays MAX with this one and it’s really lovely. I’ll have to do a side by side of the Perfume with the EDT.

Although I generally love aldehydes and florals, also the so-called lady-lik scents (whatever hat means) this is too much for me. Maybe the Parfum would smell nicer on my skin but this is way too strong and have an almost bitter undertone that reminds me on an old-fashioned after shave. I agree that this is reminiscent on Avon’s Rare Pearls, but I prefer RP over WD since the former is brighter, fresher.

Aldehyde parfum is new for me but I am starting to like it smells clean and very good for after your bath or when you shower when you wait till the skin is ready for parfum then you dress and smell good this parfum is good for a night with husband dinner date fancy parties is clean white floral with tuberose iris jasmine narcissus and beautiful carnation is powdery soapy soft and like a cloud sweet perfume I smell in the dry part a little amber musk some cinnamon spice you like aldehyde floral and white flower parfum sophisticated elegant parfum this is so perfect for you is for me I feel as glamorous and beautiful as Elizabeth Taylor smells of clean white diamond earrings on your neck

How could someone hate the smells of this??? I can understand ppl being scared of WD strength but the smell, Is utterly a brilliant creation from Ms Elizabeth Taylor. If i can be honest, I use too be someone who would not be caught dead with a so called cheaper fragrance, yes I was that person. Funny enough I don’t let my self fall victim too being a snob towards a cheaper cologne. I have learned that there are some really good perfumes out there for a low price, I decided was gonna start trying so I gave WD, another go I hadn’t worn this since the 90s and some rude lady who I passed one day wearing WD she said in a rude manner “Do u think you can tone down that nasty fragrance you have on I can taste it” Which upset me, because I only sprayed 3 sprays? Just 3!! I got home took a shower too get the smell off of me and gave WD away that same day never too wear it again. Now 20 plus years later, I sprayed the same 3 sprays and now get compliments all the time. I love WD so much. I’m so glad I am wearing this again. Phenomenal scent.

I’ll be the first to say that I am NOT a fan of floral. I always associated it with being too overpowering and “old ladyish.” My older boyfriend said he likes this scent so I did my research on it and decided to buy a bottle. I was nervous because as I stated, floral scents turn me off. I sprayed this on the back of my hand. It was strong but I liked it immediately even though it did smell more like for the older crowd. I waited for the dry down and it has this warm, spicy floral scent. However, I wasnt sure if this is something I truly liked. Well as time goes on and the scent still lingers, I absolutely adore this fragrance. When I wear this, I feel like old Hollywood glam—Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford era. I would probably wear this during the day but only 2/3 sprays because of how potent it is. I don’t know if my tastes are refining but this floral scent has won me over.

Elizabeth Taylor just does not steer me wrong. I’m a huge fan of her Diamonds and Rubies…..that one just makes me swoon. I had never tried WD but the EDT version was on sale today at Ross for $16.99 and I had never seen it priced that low so I had to give it a spin.
A reviewer here had warned that WD is too strong to layer with anything else but I tend to have to “sweeten” up some frags to get them to jibe with my own chemistry. (Or maybe, inwardly, I’m still 10 years old with a candy fixation…who knows?)
Anyhoo…I first applied Russell & Windsor Manuka Honey body cream to my skin and then a light spritz of WD on top of that. (And it seemed like the cream helped to tamp down that initial “harshness” that seems to bug some folks about this scent.)
What I was left with was something that didn’t have me smelling like a 10 year old, I can tell you. The vibe I got was cozy, voluptuous, grown-woman-wonderful.
I’m gonna have fun with this one!

It kinda has a vintage feel to it which is honestly really cool, but prob due to this fact, it also kinda smells like something an old person would wear… I really don’t like this scent. It smells kinda bitter. It doesn’t really smell feminine, or girly, or nice. But, if you want an older feel to your scent, you may really like this! I sure don’t wear it but, I do keep it around bc vintage and stuff is pretty cool to me. It does have a feel to it, like most scents do.

This a sillage monster. I barely applied it and my first thought was ” OMG. What have I done? ” I started channeling the 80’s. I almost donned sequins and sprayed Aqua Net to make big hair. And then 30 minutes later it dries down to strong floral that I actually like. I won’t buy a full size. The mini will last me for the rest of my life.

I received this perfume as a gift. Sadly, I disliked it. To me it smells like a cheap fragrance..cannot be compared to Chanel No.5 at all.

I have yet to find a fragrance, both in the department store and drug store, that rivals the glamour, power, and longevity of this classic Elizabeth Taylor fragrance. This fragrance is old Hollywood in a bottle. This may be a popular fragrance to hate, however it’s a best seller for a good reason. You really have to learn to wear White Diamonds, or it wears you. This opens with sparkling aldehydes, with a slight orange aroma, and a very indolic Jasmine and tuberose. This, if used with a very light touch, is intensified by an almost incense like musk base, very warm with Amber. This fragrance would not be out of place in a Chanel or Guerlain bottle. A reviewer here described Elizabeth Arden’s “Red Door” as a PERFUME, in all caps, and that description also suits White Diamonds. This is a real perfume. This is NOT toilet water by any means. Just a tiny spray of the EDT in the air, and people in my home in a completely different room smell it. That’s the power of this fragrance, and it’s fantastic, because it will last all day. I was guilty of overdoing this fragrance a few times, and it is something you must avoid. It is overwhelmingly musky if you use too much. This perfume always lasts me a good six months to a year, because I only need tiny spritzes on
