Description

White Citrus was presented in April 2009. It is composed for fans of fresh, citrusy fragrances who enjoy nuances of lemon zest, grapefruit sparks, intoxicating ginger and sensual water lily. Top notes incorporate lemon, grapefruit and tangerine. A heart adds mandarin, ginger blossom, apricot nectar, water lily, freesia and lily of the valley, while a base finishes the composition with woody accords and musk. The fragrance is available as 75ml (2.5 oz)edt along with an accompanying body care collection.

This was the first “perfume” I ever had, so it’s very special to me. To this day, I still enjoy how this smells even though I have moved on a little from my old obsession with citrus. The grapefruit and lemon are light, breezy, and fresh, and it makes me feel smart and clean. It’s perfect for going to school as it is inoffensive and transparent.

There isn’t nearly as many reviews on this as I expected there to be, especially considering how affordable BBW is is the US and Canada!!!! Anywho….I love this! There aren’t many BBW smells that I “love” per say, usually just a like and buy the super cheap body !Isn’t as a way to refresh in the summer months so when I smelled this I was shocked because it’s sooooooo nice. That being said the name really does say it all….White citrus….It’s perfectly named so if you’re not super into citrus scents than pass on this because that’s all it is but if you do like it than rush out to get this!!!

I must admit I do not like B&BW. Mediocre lotions that agitate my dry eczema, clones of pungent alcohol in bottles passed off as ‘Eau de toilettes’ (all smelling suspiciously similar) and brightly-lit stores in the mall bustling with all-too-eager employees insisting you try the latest concoction. The scents are just not good to me. Linear and cheap is how I’d describe them.
I was gifted this potion in particular several Christmases ago and still have half the bottle. My mom can pick out a winner amidst the fray. I love the briskness of this citrus scent, it really is a ‘White Citrus’. A pure unadulterated fresh scent, no tacky gourmand try-hardery. The sugary grapefruit is the winner here. It rings like a crystal, diaphanous white blossoms and a wood musk give dimension. Possibly the only Bath and Body Works perfume I will spray on my body.

this reminds me so much of OFF bugspray smell.Very lime, grassy, chemical smell . I does not smell good on me. I wanted to like it and tried but just cannot. However , I like the smell on my hubby.

When B&BW were clearancing these out (changing bottle) several years ago, I bought 3 bottles. I’ve never worn this as a perfume; it lasts FOREVER on the hand towels in my bathroom and makes the space smell so fresh and naturally lemony. This is not meant as an insult by calling this perfume a bathroom air-freshener….it is a compliment on the high quality and longevity of this product…why can’t other products last as long?

This smells like lemon air freshener. It doesn’t last and I’m kind of glad. But it’s not horrible. Just not soft. I’m not saying it’s super sharp, but it’s basically a toned down air freshener…and I love citrus scents.

White Citrus is a remake of B&BW’s discontinued Breathe Exhilarating Ginger and Verbena. A nice scent that was unisex because of the citrus and ginger notes. I was surfing the net, a couple of years ago, and found a NIB of it for sale on Amazon for $250. I quickly took a pic of my used bottle that was 85% full and listed it on ebay. It auctioned for $54.
So, if you’re a fan of the discontinued Breathe Ginger and Verbena, look no further than White Citrus. It’s almost identical even though the longevity might be half but sillage is decent. It’s fresh, citrusy, and uplifting in ‘an out of the shower in the morning’ kind of way.

Bought it when it launched. 4/4 stars. She can hang with my end fragrances. Strictly warm weather scent for me or during Indian summer into fall when I’m desperately trying to prolong summer and ward of the cold weather that’s coming.

Citrus scents are my absolute favorite. This one smells like fresh lemon to me, and is just has a very fresh scent. It’s very crisp and sweet and even smells a bit floral. The problem with this perfume is that it doesn’t last long at all.

This scent was very bitter on my skin for the first hour after I initially sprayed it on ~ it smelled awful, like a really bitter grapefruit or lemon scent which was disappointing. However, by the time I reached my office it had died down to a really clean sweet fruit fragrance which I loved.
Sadly the staying power is poor ~ I layered it over the body lotion but approaching the 2.5 hour mark, I could barely smell it. I’ll enjoy using this until it’s gone but won’t repurchase.

My mom wears this perfume and she swears by it. She has told me many times how much she loves it. Her description of it was it gives her a feeling of being energized, brings her comfort, and makes her feel at home. She has been stopped many times by people at her work asking what it is she’s wearing. She feels it almost ‘centers’ her and awakens her senses when sprayed in the morning before leaving the house. More of a citrus smell than a flower scent.

This scent is like an instant anti-depressant for me! Fresh and clean and makes me feel upbeat and optimistic and energetic for hours! I love this and it will be the one I reach for all summer long!

Lemon and mandarin are very prominent here. I could barely smell floral notes-I think you only get a hint of floral so there is a reason why its called White Citrus. It is indeed a VERY citrus scent, very fresh and uplifting. Perfect for hot/humid weather. Lasting power is nothing to write home about but BBW has many body products so you can always layer.
I have been looking for citrus fragrance that I can wear for the hot summer weather. Best one I found was Hermes but it lasted like 5 min on my skin. White Citrus is one of the contenders. It could be unisex-its feminine enought for female but neutral enough for a guy.

One of my favorites from B&BW, especially among their strongest fresh family, due to its well-balanced yet fun composition. Starting with a very strong hit of citrus which continues most of the way through, this scent is true to its name and most of the reviews on here. It’s hard to pinpoint one fruit or note that is stronger than the others, except perhaps lemon; the “citrus” here is like a composite, standing out while you get a bit of ginger in the background to help balance it out. It is high-energy but not complex, not the least bit floral, and though not for everyone, I have always enjoyed it immensely. It has plenty of personality in that it’s zesty and clean but not overpowering. As many people enjoy the simplicity, this one is a winner.

UNISEX for sure! Clean, fresh & zingy. It IS a bit bitter in the opening on me, as it’s certainly lemon… almost lemon cleaning product, almost unwearable for me at first.
Once the other citrus kicks in, it’s much more pleasant.
I suggest this one for an all-around family fragrance… perhaps a body wash & body splash for everyone to share. It’s not a “me” fragrance, but I do like it.

This is a great scent for summer, but me personally? I love to spritz a bit of it on in the winter too, when I feel cold. It brings a bit of sunshine and warmth and also reminds me of sun drenched days and balmy evenings. It’s not complex, as others have noted, but I believe its beauty is in its simplicity. For me, scent is key to what mood I’m in, and White Citrus never fails to pick me up!

I’ve been wearing b&bw since 1995,when I first purchased the original vanilla and peach scents. This one reminds me of what b&bw first set out to do,have very linear, simple scents,as an answer to all the complex designer fragrances. White citrus is a very simple, clean citrus scent. I get mostly lemons, but also the lime and grapefruit notes.I like it when I wanna smell fresh and fruity, but not sickly sweet.the sillage is moderate, others can smell the freshness, but I don’t smell like I bathed in pledge lol.
It could definitely be a unisex fragrance. My bf uses the shower gel,and it layers well under his colognes.I highly recommened thid for any citrus lovers,or if you’re looking for something fruity but not sickly sweet. It’s great for summer,as it’s light and fresh, but I also love it in winter as a yummy fresh pick me up!

A very simple, light and pure scent. This is a very straightforward perfume, It would be great fro people who just want to smell good, not make flies drop out of the air.

I like this a lot. Fresh, clean, pure citrus. No fruity, sweet things like so many of the B&BW products, just a nice, summery, happy, sparkling, citrusy scent to freshen yourself up. It’s totally a summer/warm weather fragrance, with a just hint of floral.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

I use the body spray and rejoice in this fragrance and the tiny price. I get a burst of happy lime and sparkling water, lemon sunshine and freshness rounded out by a smidge of grapefruit. The woody note is there but only whispers, allowing me to bathe in the citrus and the lightest touch of floral. Just-showered but without the soapy quality or any sugary sweetness.
This is my favorite type of fragrance, and despite this being a low-priced B&BW product, it’s just glorious enough to kill my luxury brand lemmings. It’s hard to find something in this category that doesn’t give me a headache, and since it’s neither loud nor obnoxious, it’s perfectly appropriate for the office. Not enough sillage to even register unless you’re close, which is something I wish all officemates would consider.
I also use the body cream and it’s saturated in fragrance, while the shower gel is a bit disappointing, but with citrus scents every boost in staying power counts.

I’m using this fragrance for the rest of the summer. Like all BandB fragrances, it’s not highly complex, but it smells like what it says it does. I get key-lime pie out of this, which I love!

Ick. Smells like household cleaner. I’d had it a while and didn’t like it. Think my hubby wanted it but he never wears it either. Tried it again today. Yuck. Gave it to my daughter.

This is a review for the body mist version of White Citrus and I do like it a lot, it comes on strong, but as expected from a body mist it disappears fast, but while it lasts it is a nice citrus refreshing scent that is perfect for a hot humid summer’s day.

I truly dislike this scent. I used to have the sanitizing lotion and to me it smelled exactly like a potent cleaning product.

I really wanted to like this one…but way too soapy and detergent like for me. I don’t know if it’ll be different when it’s warmer. I’ll try it then but…fortunately for me it only lasted about 20 minutes. I don’t know if it just has bad longevity or my skin ate it. If you like soapy/detergent like scents….I suppose this would be good for you.

I bought a small travel sized bottle of this, along with a few other things on a trip to B&BW.
I’ve received nothing but compliments on it. Everyone loves it. Even my dad, who is vehemently against all things scented, considers this to be pleasant. People constantly ask me to use my hand cream. Seriously, everywhere I whip this out, I’m swarmed with people (men and women both) saying “Oh my god, that smells SO GOOD!”
Except me. ._. I’m probably the only person I know that doesn’t like this smell. And, I liked it at first – Like a lot, I was going to go out and buy more of it. I think, maybe, I just used it too much? I find that now, like most other B&BW products, it gives me a headache when I use it. I do still really like the smell, but it’s not worth the stinging feeling I get all through my sinuses. I don’t know why I didn’t get that feeling until halfway through the bottle, but here it is. I can’t use it anymore.
I’m sensitive to scents, though. To anyone else, I would say “GO BUY THIS!”, because it smells great. Clean and crisp and fresh.

i accidentally tried this while my mom had a bottle, i used it before i realised it was a different scent from the one i thought she had… and it was like being doused in grapefruit and cedar. it was awful.

A great choice for when you want to smell nice but not perfume-y. Fresh, clean, bright and cool. Citrus perfection!

I looove this scent. No I do not have the perfume, I think it would be a little too strong for that, but I do have the body wash and body lotion, which is absolutely perfect for this scent. I wanted something that is easy to smell and tart but sweet at the same time, something clean. I almost got Dancing Waters but it didn’t stick out to me as much as this scent did, I do recommend the body lotion more than the body wash, compared to the lotion the wash is very very faint.

This is such a clean smelling citrus. It smells so real! All I really smell is the lemon and the grapefruit. It doesn’t change as you wear it and it seems to last a couple of hours. I have the little roll on fragrance water which I think is more of a cologne. I haven’t tried the EDT yet which I do have. I am going to wait until the FW is gone before I opent the EDT. This is definately a favorite fragrance and one of the few I have that I can wear when I have a headache because it doesn’t make it worse.

I know my nose is growing when i can clearly pick out at least a couple of notes. On the way home from my local bath and body works i was puzzled as to why this was called white citrus. Not because it doesn’t SMELL like citrus, but, because it didn’t smell like the MEAT of the fruit. This whiffs out exactly like the rind and it’s accompanying oils and juices, exactly as my nose smelled it!
I LOVE the smell of lemon and orange zest, and you’ll always see me squeezing the rinds of these fruits after i am done using the meat. For being blaze` BBW fragrance, this smells COMPLETELY natural to my nose, and i am very pleased with it.
This scent is linear, but it executes itself perfectly. I also don’t get ANY of the other notes listed here aside from the top. Lemon zest and orange zest, perfect and simple.
    I approve

While picking up Midnight Pomegranate and Sea Island Cotton I was told by a very friendly SA, that all the Signature Collection was Buy 2 Get 1 Free…so I got White Citrus. I love a real TRUE citrus scent that is light, but “still there” and WC impressed me…and I was also surprised to learn they do NOT get commission on sales there!
    *body spray review*
I am usually a bit skeptical of “body sprays” as they tend to fizzle quickly. For this review, I sprayed both sides of my neck once, and one spray down the shirt…and two hours later it is still smelling great! I get the grapefruit most of all; but there is a clean (almost amalfi) lemon scent and a subtle sheer sweetness underlying this as well. I am now wishing that I would have gotten the body wash and the lotion/body creme! This remains true to its name but has a bit of sweet fruitiness after the citric notes fade and I love how the sheer florals (like lotus and muguet) are there but more as an accent than a centerpiece. Here the citruses and orange (more than any apricot) are the main theme. Freesia, too, is there but only to add some smoothness and elegance to the construct. (I have noticed that lotus and freesia play very well together, in general!) After this dries completely, it has a woody white muskiness and some whispers of dried flowers; but still remains fresh and bright, though softer. I am impatiently waiting for an EDT of this picked up by a dear friend at an outlet store of B&BW’s…when I do receive the EDT, I shall pass on this lovely body spray to someone else who appreciates it. DO NOT let the floral notes listed make you think this is “girly” (as I first feared) as it is much more (as madhatter1 commented) “unisex”. I wore it today in hot and humid weather, and it still going strong (for a BS). Say what you will about B&BW, they make a quality line of products at a great price. So the body spray does not last as long as the EDT…it is cheap and huge and you can spray away all day-and NOT go broke!
    Sillage: okay then close
    Longevity: good
    Overall: 3.5/5
While there last, at the B&BW store, I tried a wonderous thing. They carry a line of C. O. Bigelow (the British apothecary) scents for men. They have an EDP (!!) for men called “Lemon No. 1999” which is very clean, very manly and extremely well-done. A 100 ml EDP spray is under thirty-five US dollars. It reminds me of ASPREY Purple Water with less spices and flowers…and on a test strip (which I saved) it lasted four days! If you are a guy (and hate going to “perfume shop” with your lady) the next time she DRAGS you into B&BW…try Lemon No. 1999. It is awesome!! NB: The Bigelow WHITE Elixir lotion would go great with the No. 1999!
I am usually the one dragging someone into a store or to a perfume counter (and most often staying close to an HOUR), but if you are a “guy” and want something clean, light and elegant…for the price you cannot go wrong (IF you are a lover of Citrus/citrus aromatics, that is) with Lemon No. 1999 OR White Citrus

Bright, fizzy citrus envelops you upon first spritz but it soon fizzles as a woody nuance settles in. I feel that the lily of the valley is overshadowed by the citrus and therefore it stays hidden. I really like this scent for breezy beach days but I wish it lasted longer! Has poor longevity.

Bought my EDT bottle today, returning unused twighlight woods EDT at the yellow sale – got citrus @ 50% off, so happy! Im so impressed by the fresh citrus pop. I like how its starting to smell musky and lasting 2-5 hours longer than I had anticipated. I bought the body spray for my husband thinking he can try it as a unisex fragrance.

Refreshing and clean scent. This smells like the combination of lemon and lime. At first it smell a little sweet, but later on, it became more bitter. I reccomend this during summer.

This “perfume” is sickening. It reminds me of lemony bathroom spray. I am not happy about this one. I definitely wouldn’t use it to wake myself up in the morning…that would only make me nauseous and angry. Not a good way to start a day. My husband just told me it reminds him of pledge.

citrus ( i love lemony/lime scents), white, fresh and clean. this is an eye opener. as with all b&b scents they need to be reapplied, but somehow i don’t mind reapplying this one. its refreshing from start to finish. i also have the shower gel and lotion, the layering lets it last longer and adds to the perfection of this blast of clean, sunny, citrus delight.

Believe it or not, White Citrus from BBW is extremely similar to Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche, Dior Miss Dior Cherie L’eau, and Versace Versence. I put each fragrance together in a side by side fragrance test and was very shocked at how alike they all are, the difference mainly being the $$$$.
Drydown was varied in each perfume, but overall not different enough to warrant spending more money on the designer fragrances over White Citrus. CMDC L’eau was the most delicate, lighter and less intense of the four. Versence was more of a woody drydown. The Chanel presented a crisper/slightly fresher floral green fragrance than the others. White Citrus is a little more loud in the beginning than any of the others but wears like a combination of them all. I have found that if I layer any of those designer fragrances with the BBW White Citrus body creme/lotion and the fragrance, they last all day. This works because all four alone have relatively short lasting power, but I love green fragrances so I will most likely keep buying all of them.

BBW WHITE CITRUS is a fine hot weather scent featuring, as advertised, whiteness and citrus.
I very much appreciate the cool, refreshing effect of this non-acidic citrus edt but without all of the alcohol that comes in the body sprays. WHITE CITRUS dries down pretty nicely as well, with a touch of very clean (white!) woody musk. The light floral notes serve as garnishes only–this is *not* a BWF (big white floral) fragrance.
WHITE CITRUS is probably my favorite from the current BBW line-up, as I tend to steer clear of overly fruity, sweet scents (such as ORANGE SAPPHIRE, which was a real disappointment). I also have the Fragrant Waters special edition of WHITE CITRUS, which was issued in a humongous glass bottle (10oz!) with a few tweaks to the composition but with much less alcohol than the body spray (Key word: Fragrant WATERS). It’s really too bad that the Fragrant Waters line was discontinued, as they are perfect for summertime liberal spraying, especially in a scent as nice as this one!
Obviously, WHITE CITRUS is not haute parfumerie, but it’s a great value nonetheless and works especially well in weather when fragrance is apt to evaporate quickly, creating a quasi-super sillage even out of some perfumes which stay close to the skin in the cold. When the thermostat exceeds 90F, anything much heavier than this can be unpleasant–for both the wearer and those nearby…

I really like this fragrance. I have the body spray and the body lotion and its this beautiful citrus scent. It reminds me of Ckone and almost any floral perfume or fruity scent can be layered over it. Its a lemony aquatic type scent. Refreshing!!

I was pleasantly surprised about this one, I agree with some of the other posts, fresh citrus, slightly aquatic, white floral & woodsy! not sharp. I enjoy catching wifts of this in the air around me! Lasted well too!

  48. :

    5 out of 5

The name, packaging and the scent is all about crisp scent. Nice summer scent and I’m glad that it’s not sharp, unlike many citrus frags out there that gives me headache.

  49. :

    3 out of 5

I think this scent is under-rated.
It smells of lemon zest and lily at first. Very slightly spicy. It smooths out to a more softer, almost aquatic scent on the dry down. Becomes slightly sweeter after the first 30 or so minutes of wearing it.
I sense Acqua di Gio a little, but less potent.
It’s a great summer scent that seems to go over looked.

  50. :

    3 out of 5

I tested this one at the store today. I was expecting a more lemony-aroma. It’s actually a tart citrus floral woody musk. Not a sweet citrus at all–no need to fear any vanilla, sugar or even that apricot nectar. The citrus that is present comes across as a non-distinct accord of several citrus fruits, tempered with a bit of white floral. The dry-down is a nice, non-distinct floral woody musk. The scent was pretty but rather unremarkable, other than its staying power. Citrus scents are notoriously fleeting but this one has good longevity.
White Citrus would be a great scent for warm spring and summer days. This perfume and the accompanying body products would be a good safe choice for gifts. Most people will find this fragrance pleasant, if nothing special.
