I enjoyed my sample of this very much. I find that it’s leather mostly (of course I second-guessed myself after reading some disagreements here!) with a wood background. The cedar and leather remain bosom buddies here. All in all it’s a dry tobacco and leather, patchouli mix. Later on the moss, musk and cedar provide the backbone. Nice!

Outstanding wet leather!! Reminds of Aramis or what Aramis coulda been. This is better. Perfect for layering with colder scents. Performs well and does well on skin. This is a one of akind leather not your contemporary TF Tuscan Leather.

I really do not smell any leather at all. But please remember fragrance smells different on everybody. I personally have found that on my skin anything with gardenia will always smell like movie theater pop corn butter, plum will smell like dust or inky paper out of a copier and if there is cedar in a fragrance that is all that will come through. My husband however has a perfect skin canvas for scent and Im pretty certain this will smell like leather on him (well I am hoping so anyway!)

I have been looking for a “POW in your face” leather scent for my husband and bought him Demeter’s Saddle for Christmas (it is now early December so he hasn’t received it yet) but when I tested it on my skin it was very light, faintly leathery and a little sweet which reminded me of Dr.Pepper. It smells good but it wasn’t enough leather for my liking so I did my research and found West Third Vintage Leather and thought it might fit the bill for the price range I was looking to stay in (i.e was not Tom Ford Tuscan Leather expensive)
So here’s my thought’s. I get zero leather out of this. Not even a trace. Now of course this has only been tested on my skin at this point and nothing seems to smell the way it is supposed to on me. So on my skin this is cedar and moss and that’s it. Now I will say I LOVE this. It is gorgeous and if he doesn’t like it I would defiantly wear it myself! I think I would probably be doing backflips for this scent if I didn’t have my heart set on a pure leather smell.
As an aside, the same thing happened last year when I bought my husband Lolita Lempicka’s Au Masculin. I tested it out on me first and it was a screeching, headache inducing cedar bomb. On his skin it was warm, soft, beautiful and complex-the way it was meant to be.I think something about my chemistry must pick out wood and cedar and punch the hell out of your face with it. So I have hope that this will be the same way and when it gets on him the leather will make its appearance and if it does then I might revise this review.

potent sour leather in the beginning. very heady – after 30 minutes, the scent dies down to something more wearable – this is not a sweet leather – although there is a sweet note in the background, the leather note is highly distinguishable and sour to begin with. for a collector, this is a really cool scent – it’ll take you back to the days of the prohibition!

Before i say anything about the smell, i need to just say that the longevity on this perfume is enormous!
There is a small boutique we visit on occasion that has the entire West Third Brand, and i’ve sampled literally everything. I think this by far has the biggest longevity. I sprayed on 1 tiny spray in the store at about 5pm, and its now 1am and i can still smell it after at least 2 hand washes!
I specifically went in to revist this particular perfume. The last time i was there i didnt get to spray on skin.
This is a leather bomb! If you want a very raw, rough, smokey leather, this is it.
Theres not much else like this. There are a few similar scents, like Mona di Orio Cuir, but that is more smoke than leather, and has a slightly obnoxious sweet opoponax note.
Vintage leather is about as linear as it gets. It smells the same as it did when i first sprayed. Which is a blessing and curse. I have to admit i became a bit tired of it at the half way point sinces theres no development.
However the layering possibilities are tremendous.
I ended up buying the bottle since i do love the smell, and for $28 how do you go wrong?
I won’t be wearing it too often though. Its too strong and too linear to wear all the time.
    Longevity: 10/10
    Projection: 9/10

This is an oily boot strap to the face. Open up the box on a new pair of Tony Lama boots and there you have it. If you want all leather all the time then you will love this. The top is a new leather jacket, the mid is leather baseball glove and leather conditioning oil, and the base is leather boots and a new leather belt.
