Lemony vetiver with a bit of mandarin orange that adds some depth and sweetness.
It’s very fresh and green, definitely refreshing for hot summer days. Inoffensive. But nothing really original.

Smell is really great, fresh and enjoyable, it feels like high quality ingredients but it only lasts like 30 minutes before almost disappearing. It remains like a very light skin scent for about 3 hours and that’s it. So disappointed with the performance, unlike other fragrances on the Privé Line that actually perform really good.

This smells of green citric vetiver. It is definitely the Haitian kind of vetiver due to its citric and light qualities. But the dominant note in this is not actually vetiver, but to my nose green bergamot with coriander and hints of pink pepper and cardamom. I kind of get a neroli-like note as well, maybe due to the mandarin. It is overall a greatly pleasing fragrance and actually very similar to Mugler Cologne or Creed’s Original Vetiver but with a different sort of twist on the same theme. Sillage is moderate while longevity is quite good for a fresh fragrance on my skin at about 6 hours of strong projection, and many more hours as a skin scent.

I have both Vetiver D’Hiver and Vetiver Babylone in front of me now and they smell exactly the same. Simply amazing scent, especially for the summer. I agree with the comment that it smells quite common but I just can’t pinpoint to any scent that is drastically similar to it. The same notes might have been used a thousand times elsewhere but in the end it is the quality of the ingredient that matters. A staple for me in summer, together with Millisime Imperial and Neroli Portofino. I used it extensively for my stay at Bvlgari and St Regis Bali and the compliments I got when I decided to leave the villa were much more than I have thought would be.

The most sexy fresh vetiver scent ever. when you spray this you cannot stop smelling it. unique pleasing alluring and attractive scent.. you put citrus and vetiver and come up with such a sexy smell? that is an extraordinary work.
Surprisingly, all those stupid youtube reviewers dont know about it lol which is good so we keep it exclusive for us.
expensive, not good performance? I dont care and dont mind taking shower in this and spray it again every 3 minutes and I will keep buying it even if it costs 1000$.

Since they changed the name, the perfume isn’ t the same anymore. Altered notes and weakness are the major differences. I don’ t understand why. It’ s a pity, cause this one was my favorite fragrance of all time…

9:10 – Sprayed cautiously because I love the smell of vetiver but it becomes masc on me super fast. I’m always hoping to find the exception, though. Blast of high quality but boring citrus at first. I can smell the spices underneath but not vetiver or patchouli.
9:40 – I think I’m going to have to scrub this off and hand it over to my dude friend who is into perfumes. One spray, on my ankle, and a half a spray above, not on, my wrist, and it’s painfully strong. Nice smelling but generic, just intense. Also, though there aren’t any floral notes listed, I smell “unnamed white floral”.
I suspect it’s too dude, too. I can wear a woodsy “por homme”, a leather, a tobacco – no prob. Somehow turns femme. Citrus or vetiver, nope. Even if the scent is labeled for women.

One of the all time best summer fragrances let alone ones in the fresh citrus Vetiver category. This and Eau de Jade which is very very similar to bvlgari Pour Homme soir if you were to make it extra concentrated + amped up in the bergamot and papyrus.

I love wearing this liberally in the heat. A fragrance must have quality ingredients from beginning to end if they are to wear well at high doses. At this volume the vetiver and patchouli become starkly apparent in their cleanest, most spotless, most polite form. The citruses are beautiful. Juicy, a touch sweet and a touch tart.

truly a beautiful scent..however not worth the price of admission…………very light, beautiful, but not lasting..im sure you could never overspray this one..and for the $ its an edt.

  12. :

I agree with most reviews, it’s not got the vetiver ‘wow’ factor as such, but I find it pleasant – very spare, lean and light green
I do smell the vetiver – you could describe it almost as an infusion of vetiver with added citrus, but a little dirt is added via patchouli. The light pepperiness makes it feel contemporary.
The price would make you think thrice! But if you’re happy to pay this amount then it’s a nice minimal elegant scent for summer or if you’re in the mood for pared down simplicity.
It’s the perfume equivalent to some sort of Scandi – inspired loft in lightly distressed wood, with large winndows looking out on to a wintry beach fringed with wind-swept sea grass. If you’ve ever seen ‘The Ghost Writer’ by Roman Polanski you’ll know what I mean, except the aethetic in that film was the backdrop for some richly dark humour and there’s nothing rich about this perfume!

I just got a sample at saks this weekend with the new name Vetiver D’Hiver. Nice clean vetiver with citrus and a great spring summer smell. GREAT for all of 30 minutes and then a skin scent for another 30 minutes. Complete let down…….

It’s ok! Opens fresh with citric notes and then the vetiver takes over. Clean, fresh and earthy, nothing new here. Quality is really good and performance its ok, expected way better for this price point.

I am not a big fan of light citrus summer scents. This is nice but not worth the price. It reminds me of Jo Malone Lime Blossom or other cheaper summer citrus scents. It’s refreshing but lasts not at all.

  16. :

I normally don’t like summer scents as much, but I love this. It’s so clean and fresh. So often with summer scents I get sharp or soapy notes… not so with this frag. It’s clean and fresh throughout, whilst drying down into vetiver woodiness. A real winner.

I love this – it’s gorgeous! I wear it a lot, and my husband also wears it often too, and it (as is only natural!) smells quite different on each of us. It smells gorgeous on him, and very beautiful on me!!!! I just adore the beautiful smoky, woodsy bitter-chocolate vetiver combined with the delicate earthy herby patchouli, and the scintillating bergamot. Ooooh it’s just yum!!! A delightful combination, along with the wonderful pungent cardamon and the delicate pink pepper and coriander….it’s gorgeous. Truly gorgeous. It’s so lovely!!! And it lasts very very well (all perfumes last very well on me I must say. I must have the skin for it!) on me, roughly 10 hours, and I get many many beautiful compliments!!! I looove it!!!!

  18. :

    3 out of 5

I looove this fragrance..surely the best summer scent ever..only I wish it would be more powerful and last longer, but still love it..reminds me a little aqua di gio but more luxury. Heavenly dry down.

I was a bit surprised when I found out on this site that this is a men’s fragrance. I’ve used it for over a year without knowing hehe. Not that it really matters what gender the scent is intended for, but I usually tend to gravitate more towards female fragrances. Personally I would maybe say this scent is unisex.
As a lover of vetiver I fell for this one at first sniff. It is a fresh scent with some hints of spices. The different citrus notes are very prominent together with the vetiver and in the dry down I get a bit more of the peppery notes. Not too complicated, but still an interesting and beautiful vetiver scent.
I would typically use this in summer. Preferably daytime, in really hot weather. Maybe after a day out on the sea with my boat tanning and having fun. Another scent I typically like at the same occations is Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling. The scents are not that similar but they give me the same kind of vibe: Spicy citrusy hot weather fragrances.

When I first managed to get my nose on a few of the Armani Prive fragrances not too long ago, I ended up spraying this one on a card, sniffing it and thinking ‘not bad’, stuffing it into my pocket, and forgetting about it for the next hour or so. It wasn’t that I didn’t like it, but just the fact it wasn’t as attention grabbing as some of the others simply led to me not giving it the attention it deserved.
When I reached into my pocket to grab my wallet an hour later, I felt the card and rememberd I hadn’t thrown it out with the others, so I thought i’d give it another sniff before discarding that one too. Damn, i’m glad that I did. Whether it’s because the scent had time to develop more, or whether it’s because I was no longer overwhelmed by some of the more dominant Prive fragrances I don’t know, but I do know that I really, really enjoyed this. Beautiful, clean and crisp vetiver and citrus intertwining and wafting around in perfect harmony, these notes have been flawlessly blended. This might be ‘the’ green / citrus scent. A combination of notes that, to an extent, feel so familiar yet at the same time so uniquely put together.
edit: managed to try this out on my skin, and within 4-5 hours at absolute max there was no trace of this one left.. What a shame. Are there any cheaper priced alternatives / similar fragrances with better performance?

This scent has been renamed, same bottle, but is now called Vetiver D’Hiver, just so you know if you are looking for it. Vetiver is one of my favorite notes in a men’s fragrance. This is a very clean, almost herbal vetiver. Feels like a crisp white shirt. It is interesting and very wearable. I love it!

Every step falls on uncertain ground. Every breath hesitates as you are immersed in a consuming fog. A pale sun intensifies the luminosity of the fog creating a near-blinding haze – the scent of pith and wet stone lingers in its depths. Your endless march leaves you facing a colossal castle…the course grey stone seems to reach to the heavens. There is no gate, no entrance, and no way to the windows hanging below the cloud cover. You lay your hands on the cool stone – an ancient dust disperses into the air smelling of soft cardamom and the passage of time. You search its calloused surface for a way in, for any hidden passage into its unknown depths. An indefinite amount time elapses as you toil to find your way. A moment later you stumble upon a thicket of vetiver roots densely growing up in an arching pattern – you can’t help but reach out to touch them. As your hand touches the roots, a few tendrils begin to wrap tightly around your hand and trace their way to your heart. An instant of pain arrives and departs with such velocity that it leaves you temporarily breathless. You quickly collect yourself as the arch fades to reveal the internal expanse of the immense castle – it appears to be an endless forest thick with cedar, patchouli and vetiver. Everything sways mesmerizingly as it is rocked by a silent breeze. A path appears before you; a lone figure stands in a clearing far from you….who might it be?
Day 97 – Castle in the Sky
Listening to: Lacuna Coil – Humane
Notes: This was the second in the line that I decanted and it follows the trend of being ethereal in the best sense…like a dreamscape. The fume creates this dreamlike atmosphere by opening with an airy citrus accord contrasted with what seems like a wet stone note. These notes are wrapped in a haze of cardamom, pepper, and coriander lending a slightly masculine aura to the fume. The base is essentially a very soft cedar and patchouli paired with the ever-present vetiver – always subtle and unassuming (although it is durable as it lasts around 8 hours), this is a woody wonder for all to partake in!

the armani prive line is pure magic
most if not all are top notch scents and vetiver babylone is no exception
it opens with a nice blast of citrus a citrus that smells so natural and pure
if you like to smell clean and not to overpowering with your scents this is the one to get but i must warn you this doesn’t project and this is the only reason why its not in my collection
    on to the next

    goooooooooooooood!
this reminded me of thailand and then voila it’s got cardamom and while i was traveling i used voyage d’hermes is very similar hermes is more androgynous than vetiver babylone but i think a girl can pull vetiver babylone easily
is very fresh, citrusy and spicy in the best posible way
is a yes for me, but since i already got voyage i will put this on my wish list rather than my buy list

Omg this fragrance is such a bore.75% mandarin, the rest is smoothed out Vetiver. This my third wearing and I don’t even want to finish my decant. What a yawner. If you’ve had the pleasure of smellng Creed Cedre Blanc, imagine that but with everything beautiful taken out. Now that I think about it, I haven’t really liked or loved any of the prives I’ve tried, so take that into consideration.

The sales guy at the Armani Prive counter tried to convince me to buy the Prive Vetiver Babylone and gave me several samples to take home. I liked it enough, but at the time I wanted something more dark, sophisticated, and unique. A member of the Armani Prive Les Eaux fragrances, the Vetiver contains citrus accords and vetiver/bergamot notes. It also seems lighter and more spring/summer-friendly than do the heavier and darker scents from the Armani Prive La Collection and La Collection Des Mille Et Une Nuits fragrances. I’ll eventually purchase the Vetiver Babylone, which also received the 2008 FiFi Award for Fragrance Of The Year in the Men`s Nouveau Niche category.

  31. :

    5 out of 5

Vetiver Babylone is a great fresh fragrance on par with many of Creed’s offerings. The opening citrus combination of mandarin, lemon, and bergamot is very pleasant and the vetiver that rings through the fragrance’s life remains very strong against an earthy, patchouli undertone.
The overall mood is definitely masculine, leaning toward warm weather, but I imagine this has year-round potential as well since it has some depth with the patchouli. Probably not ideal for women, too, but fans of vetiver might want to try it out. Part of the less-expensive end of the Armani Prive line, VB is priced high ($165 for 100ml), but not as high as the heavier entries in the line (i.e. Cuir Noir, Rose D’Arabie, running closer to $300) that are a little more of reach. Very pleasant freshie, worth trying to see if it fits in to the greens that you like.

    SOME VETIVER ON THE SIDE
You’d think a fragrance that boats ‘Vetiver’ in its name would star Vetiver. (Can you imagine if in ‘The King And I” the King was only a supporting role?)
But all is not lost. Especially if you are someone who actually prefers Vetiver ‘on the side’.
This fragrance is a superior bright citrus that is easy to wear, safe, with a touch of elegance.
I might just add this to my rotation.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

Initially I get a very rich citrus and spicy accord, with a faint sweetness in the background. Perhaps the sweetness I’m noting in the hesperidic opening is due to the mandarin. The heart of dry spices (coriander, pink peppercorn, and cardamom) is simply perfection, mimicking the arid landscapes of the Babylonian desert. Their collective notes enhance perfectly the dry, smokey and woody tonalities of the vetiver. The dry down is all about the eponymous vetiver from Java. This is a vetiver not quite like any I’ve experienced before. It clearly takes on a woody quality, evoking the smell of freshly split cedar wood for me. All the while there are faint traces of citrus and spices in the background. Never has the fragrance of vetiver been captured so beautifully. I would compare this to Chanel’s “Sycamore” from their Les Exclusifs collection as well as “Vetiver Tonka” by Hermes Hermessence line as my most favorite vetiver based fragrances.

It’s nice, very citrusy, vetiver is in the drydowm, but projection is dead, and longevity quite poor. Not good for the money.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

I’ve been wearing Vetiver Babylon for around 4 months now and really have a high appreciation for this scent. To my nose it is more of a citrus (bergamot) fragrance than a vetiver one (which is a little misleading given the name).
Never the less this is arguably the best Citrus on the market with a high mass market appeal. It receives far more compliments than any fragrance I have ever worn (with the exception of Aventus).
On my skin projection and longevity are moderate; the perfume lasts for up to 7 hrs and projects within 2 feet for 5 hrs, making it a great work scent.
    9/10 in my books.

My man arsenal01 reppin the invincibles and one of the best scents from the lighter side of the prive line. A sparkling aroma which although may not be so complex, smells so natural and slighlty earthy. could very easily be a signature scent as it is very safe and inoffensive. Performance is also great considering it is meant to be a light scent yet this and figuier Eden out perform the 1001 nights collection on me. This Was love at first sniff and a mainstay in my collection.

Love at first smell with this beautifull scent.
It’s fresh, happy, confident, and above all confortable.
I discovered the Armani Privé line thanx to a great and tastefull woman in a department store.
First tried a sample, and decided to buy a bottle.
It’s pricey (110€ for 100ml), but so worthy.
I understand the similarities with Encre Noir Sport, but Vetiver Babylone is smoother and classier. Encre Noir Sport is a great fragrance, but much more classical.
Anyway, a fantastic scent, not soapy, not harsh.
And the bottle and packaging are superb!

I’ve been into fragrances for only a couple of years steady now and I didn’t really notice this privet line but when I did and came across this, instant fireworks, couldn’t get enough of it. I’ve been wearing it ever since for two months now.. This is sexy, the amount of compliments I get with this is the most I’ve ever gotten from women and men wanting to know what I’m wearing… Don’t watch the name of the frag. so deep cause what matters is the end result, do you like it or not.. 9 out of 10 are going to love it.. I could go on and on about this but, really!! “Every man should have a bottle of this”.

I really enjoyed this fragrance, and consider it in my top 10 favorites of all time. It balances citrus, spices and woods perfectly. A citrus infused, delightful take on vetiver – summery, sparkly and delicious.
It begins a teensy bit green with an air of Earl Grey Tea, that I surprisingly don’t often get from bergamot predominant scents. It quickly settles into a thinner kind of vetiver, no smoke here, with an almost sweet blend of citruses whirling through it. Pretty linear, light and refreshing.
I do love this scent, but it’s like a very well done AdP, as another reviewer mentioned, and can’t quite justify the price tag. Especially when to me it was almost identical to Diptyque’s Vetyverio, if slightly fresher. It’s FB worthy to me, but I don’t think I’ll invest.

Delicate, green and fresh. I really like this but it is short lived on my skin and I also feel like I had this before, like it’s nothing new. So for that reason, at that price I won’t be buying.

  46. :

    5 out of 5

Okay so… is this going to spellbind anyone? I doubt it!
It’s very reminiscent of many Acqua di Parma’s really, fresh citrus and fruit in the top with a super clean, delicately spiced woody dry down.
I found the opening to be very citrus and green too but pleasant and then the slighty rusty vetiver underneath is revealed. I get a slight tea vibe and some cardamom too.
To be honest, contrary to reviews on here the first time I tried it I found the vetiver quite earthy. On wearing it for a second time it’s much cleaner and more reminiscent of Jo Malone vetyver, or 154.
I think it’s common knowledge that I like a good scent like this when it’s well done.
I’m not sure what this retails for but I’d imagine it’s expensive so in that case I’d say go with an alternative.
I will say this… it has good longevity.

A very forgettable take on vetiver.I really get confused when a fragrance takes its name from a well known note but simply fails to make a show.
As has been said by a few other reviewers here, the vetiver in this is so muted by the citruses that it makes me wonder who will be impressed by it.Of cos if you are new to and feel raw vetiver too sharp and dirty for you then maybe this will be a good starting point.
Given the price this sells for be it retail or from some discounters,I will advice against blind buying unless you are on some delusional trip in the fragrance world.
I will look for my vetiver fix from other well known ones.this is disappointing

The smell of good vetiver lingers for days together.just add a drop of the aromatic oil to a plastic bucket and smell it after months, wow what a complex earthy aroma it is!!
But Just because, ‘Armani Prive Vetiver Babylone’ has got the name vetiver, is everyone mentioning about it?..
I applied it today on my shirt and wrist and has been smelling it for 8 hours,it has not even got the least hint of vetiver..its an excellent perfume, i agree…But having lived in a vetiver country -india, and being very familiar with the herbal root and using it as a curtain, hand-fan, oil and even to spice up our drinking water,
I am very sure of what i speak..Guys you can buy this perfume for the brand’s sake or its excellence..but if YOu are just buying it to smell vetiver, you will be highly disappointed!!

I smelled this today in the Armani store. I fell to my knees in awe. It smells amazing. To me, it captures the scent of the Italian country side in the summer. I get warm breezes in a field of Oranges and honeysuckles. Idk how accurate I am with the ingredients but thats what I got. Sweet honeysuckle oranges with a dash of vetiver. This master piece deserves more recognition.

  56. :

A sutble creamy vetiver accord surrounded by green notes and a crispy citrus that’s quite pleasant but far from being unique and justifying the outrageous price tag. At this prices I expect excellence, sorry. Yet another uninteresting woody-citrus.

This is a really wonderful take on vetiver. It’s not an earthy, dirty vetiver but rather one brightened with some fruit notes, light musk, and fresh accords done in such a way that it’s unlike the standard mainstream “fresh.” I find it to be made in the style of Outrageous! by Frederic Malle (though that’s not to say they smell alike). It’s probably one of the more inoffensive of the Privé line, but it’s certainly still unique and creates a nice aura that will have others, as well as yourself, wondering what that lovely smell is.
