Description

Salvatore Ferragamo launches a fresher successor to fragrance Aqua Essenziale presented in April 2015. The name of the fragrance is Aqua Essenziale Colonia and it is the third in a row of fragrances to convey Italian charm and the style of the brand by combining notes of “characteristic texture, strong character and sophisticated shades.”
ACQUA ESSENZIALE COLONIA was created as a fresh aromatic-woody-fougere fragrance, signed by perfumer Alberto Morillas, just like its antecedents Acqua Essenziale from 2013 and Acqua Essenziale Blu from 2014.

This modern EDT was created to satisfy a man’s taste and request for sophisticated fragrances with an innovative interpretation of freshness. Freshness originates from aquatic accords which highlight citrus scents of bergamot. Aromatic notes of lavender and clary sage in the heart illuminate orange blossom, while elegant sound is brought by vetiver combined with a masculine, warm blend of tonka and ambrox in the base.

Fragrance Acqua Essenziale Colonia is available in transparent flacons of 50 ml Eau de Toilette and 100sml Eau de Toilette. It can be purchased on the official website of the brand Salvatore Ferragamo.

Man this is a Lady s Man Scent, guaranteed to turn heads and get compliments instantly from the young, middle aged and the elderly. This is a classic aromatic designer almost niche scent. Smells sophisticated and so fresh so clean with out being harsh. This is for all occasions. I will be buying a couple of bottles. Go get it for $30
“OH my what is that you wearing”

It has great performance, but there is a flowery vibe that after an hour it turns to bad smell, like old cheap female colognes that I can remember from 30 years ago, so I love to wear this fragrance but it bothers me after an hour.
    Projection 9.5/10
    Longevity 9.5/10

This peaked my interest when mentioned in barber shop fragrance discussions. To me, it doesn’t quite fit the barber shop bill, but it doesn’t venture too far off though. It’s extremely clean, fresh and soapy in the same vein as Mugler cologne. Performance is average when sprayed 6-8 times, which is something I rarely do but this is really not offensive and won’t fill a room. You get a soft sillage that helps you smell clean and sophisticated. Perfect for warm summer mornings. This is my best pick of the aqua essenziale line. Great value.
    Grade: B+

This could be a flanker of the Acqua di Parma range. If your a fan of their range I recommend you try this one. Its a fraction of the price and is very much in the realm of a classic Italian style scent.
Starts out with a nice citrus and aquatic opening then a sweetness develops in the drydown from the tonka bean and amber base. I get 6 hours and moderate sillage from 4 sprays.
A great value Italian Summer scent, much respected addition to my wardrobe.
    Highly recommended 8/10

Vintage cologne from the 80s. If you like classic Italian colognes, try it. Otherwise, this is not for you.

Very good indeed. Very similar to Original ADP Colonia in the opening, but more modern and less powdery in the drydown.
ADPs Essenza, Assoluta and Intensa are 3 of my favorites and marginally better than this, but they are also 4-5 times the price, making this a no brainier as an everyday summer freshie. It’s also a much, much more successful take on a modern Colonia than ADP’s disappointing Pura.
One of the best value scents in my collection!

This juice makes me happy. Clean, fresh and just the right amount of soapiness. I definitely pick up on the AdP vibe, but this is a fantastic fragrance on it’s own with great longevity for a freshie. I was fortunate enough to get this in a swap with a fellow Fragrantica member (Thanks Shugenja!!), but the price and quality are such that this juice is almost a no brainer for your Spring/Summer rotation. I recommend checking it out.

Fantastic composition,i wish i could get the USA prices like in marshals or tj max,its about 35USD here, but you know what, ill get it…its so amazing, beautiful bottle, heavy glass and nice metal plate in front.i get beautiful citruses with herbaceous qualities which is reminiscent of adp colonia, ferrari radiant bergamot, neroli portofino or 4711, all in same cologne style,Mediterranean sea side feel…fresh invigorating stuff, many people dont get very good performance, i got 4/5 hours in summer, im very happy with that, i definitely think its beautiful and much better than many expensive designer summer freshies…

Neroli, vetiver, aquatic masculine freshness, with a musky undertone that I find quite intoxicating. You can really notice the scent develop on a hot summer day. From a delightfully bright opening to an ambroxin, vetiver dry-down. It’s an enjoyable journey. Perfect for sitting in a beer garden on a hot day, watching the world go by as a gentle breeze reminds you that the scent is still there for up to 5hrs. I live by the sea so it’s aquatic nature really suits my environment. Great summer scent.

    2nd Review:
After owning aqcua di parma colonia, colonia intensa, colonia pura, colonia essenza, colonia club, creed himalaya, creed GIT, creed original vetivier. I can tell you that this one is probably better and more sophisticated than many of them with less than 20$. Impressive fragrance by all means.

Just picked up a bottle of this for $14 at Marshals! So far, this is the epitome of a barbershop scent in my opinion. Fresh, but not too much citrus, manly, deep, lots of interesting notes pulling your nose in multiple directions. This is great!
It shares a lot of similarities with Replica At The Barber’s, and the sage note reminds me of At The Barber’s basil note. I originally sold Dior Sauvage in favor of At The Barber’s, but this is so similar to ATB, that I might sell At The Barber’s in favor of this! (That’s not to say that this is similar to Sauvage, because it isn’t.) We’ll see which I keep after some wearing, but this is a great manly fresh scent so far! How anybody could label this as unisex, I have NO idea! (And that’s coming from a man who will openly wear women’s perfumes without an ounce of shame).
Update: Two hours in, and the water note is finally taking precedence, while it was heavily shrouded by the sage note, originally. Now I’m noticing a VERY SLIGHT similarity to John Varvatos Artisan, which is not a bad thing. The other notes are still present and keeping this scent mature and manly.
Final update: Four hours in, and the projection is gone and the scent is now just an unrecognizable skin scent of fresh water notes. Still there, but not enough to be noticed. Unfortunately the performance is a bit abysmal on my skin, but at its price, it’s one that you can respray on your lunch break without any guilt.
Final Update: Decided to keep this one and part with At The Barber’s. This is a no brainer scent, and while not my favorite genre, or favorite scent in the genre for that matter, this scent will scratch the itch just fine for whenever I’m in the mood for a clean barbershop type scent. (And it’s cheaper than the others too!)

Not bad but not really anything special at all either. I find this fragrance to be a very generic, watery-fresh type of fragrance and a bit too unisex for my manly preferences in what I’ll wear. This would be fine as a fabric softener perhaps. This one will find its way to ebay.

Do yourself a favor and sample this before buying anything in the ADP Colonia line. This particularly reminds me of ADP Colonia Club, but with an added water note, which I prefer. It smooths out the somewhat harsh sage which borders on a urinal puck smell sometimes. Might be the best value in perfumery, at least that I’ve found so far. Not saying it’s better than any ADP, but it’s worth doingsome due diligence on this one before dropping $$$ on a niche brand.

Salvatore Farragamo Acqua Essenziale Colonia EDT
To my nose: This opens with a very soapy mix of clary sage and neroli (orange blossom), with clary sage being dominant. As it dries down I get hints of soapy vetiver and lavender mixed with clary sage and neroli, making the whole thing smell like Italian soap (though clary sage is still the most dominant note). It’s a very pleasant smell. I also detect watery notes throughout the whole thing, which I’m not sure were necessary for this type of fragrance. It has a very Italian ‘colonia’ type feel to it. On drydown I can also detect ambroxan. Ambroxan to my knowledge is a synthetic version of a very old perfume ingredient known as ambregris (‘grey amber’ in French), or whale vomit, which when aged smells very pleasant with an oceanic and mineralic undertone to it. Ambroxan has been used in a number of famous modern colognes, chief among them being Dior’s Sauvage and Versace’s Dylan Blue. The ambrox in this is there but it’s muted (which I find particularly pleasant as too much ambrox as in Dylan Blue and Sauvage ends up oddly smelling like generic shower gel to me). Sillage is moderate while longevity is moderate leaning strong. The whole concoction in this fragrance ends up smelling like a fine Italian soap, and I actually enjoy it. Alberto Morillas (my favourite perfumer) was behind this fragrance, of famous names like Armani’s Acqua di Gio, CK One, Carolina Harrera 212 Men, and Givenchy Pi. And he doesn’t disappoint with this fragrance either, which is in the style of Acqua di Parma’s Colonia but different. It has an old-school sort of feel to it that I really enjoy.

    VERY Soapy top notes!
The soap is strong with this one. The orange blossom in the middle smells great with enough zest to keep the herbs from darkening the bright effect.
I agree with @Tazahr that the aquatic notes diminish the scent. It would be better to simply remove those notes. It is a good fragrance, but almost great.
Long lasting and good sillage to the base notes.

There is a reason Albero Morillas is the legend of fresh fragrances.
This is a very cheap fragrance but it smells gentlemenly sophisticated and classic with dominant bergamot “colonia type” citrus freshness. Very beautiful and well done. Excellent and very smooth utilization of ambroxan that gives the fragrance good longevity and performance without any harshness .
One the same league of Aqcua di Parma colonia’s and surprisingly similar quality.
    Thumb up.

What a great product! Totally agree with the C 4711 comparisons, but lasts much longer. Good longevity – was still smelling it hours later. Sillage was so so. Clean, fresh, masculine. a great spring or summer scent. perfect for office year round.

  20. :

Fragrances are not bonded with the price tag. You can find good fragrance in very reasonable price. And Acqua Essenziale Colonia is one of the examples. It is very good perfume. Has a common wipe in start. As you can smell bergamot and lemongrass and lemongrass notes stays till heart notes. Later you can smell lavender and it dry down to tonka and ambroxan. Very decent notes and good masculine fragrance.
No need to get confused with the name. First it’s not very typical aqua as it has more character in it. Secondly, it is not a Cologne as it silage and longevity is very remarkable.
I would suggest you that you can wear this fragrance not just in summer/spring. But easily wear in fall as well.
Lastly do not wear this in close encounters as your partner might feel it bit strong and synthetic. If it linger around in the air this a compliment getter.

Reminds me of Dunhill Icon with that sort of sour neroli thing going on. I detect a sweet musk in the drydown, typical of almost all Alberto Morillas creations.
It’s a decent scent no doubt, but mostly forgettable and similar to many other neroli scents.

Ok not as good as the blue version definitely not as good as the original version. Smells like Windex on the opening.but when it dries down it becomes pleasant enough.

I have seen some reviews of this by some reviewers I trust and they all said this smells nothing like Acqua Di Parma Colonia. So, I was very surprised when I sprayed it and was very much reminded of AdP Colonia (Which I was wearing on my other hand). Unfortunately this is only from the top notes and after a few minutes this becomes a very generic fresh scent with poor performance.

RESEMBLES THE 4711 TO MY NOSE…NOW LETS HOPE IT LASTS MORE THAN A HALF HOUR…SMELLS EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD AND HARD TO MATCH UP ITS TWIN…BUT AGAIN IT DOES RESEMBLE THE MAUER N WERTZ 4711 TO MY NOSE…NOT IDENTICAL AS THE COLONIA HERE HAS OBVIOUSLY MORE COMPLEXITY..I ALSO SENSE A SLIGHT MINTYNESS AS WELL…ANYWAY I GIVE IT 8.8/1O….IMHO

I bought this because I was looking for a scent similar to Acqua di Parma Colonia with better longevity (and a lower price if I’m being honest). The ‘reminds me of’ for ADPC pointed me to this fragrance and I bought it blind in a sale.
I’m not disappointed. It doesn’t have the fierce orange opening of ADPC and it drys down to something altogether more modern and contemporary. It’s trendily aquatic and citrussy and very close in personality to Versace Pour Homme (no bad thing in my book). Therefore, it’s probably a better option than ADPC! I will be wearing this in rotation for work but it’s a sophisticated fragrance that’s also perfect for evening wear. A definite recommendation from me.

Bright, energetic and refreshing for spring/summer.
I think this is the best from Acqua Essenziale series, and the second best from this house. The best is the discontinued Pour Homme (1999).
It reminds me of Versace Pour Homme in drydown, but has better quality. The one thing that dispoints me is the lavender seems too loud and so makes it a bit dirty. Just so you konw, I’m not a fan of lavender, but a sucker of soapy scents, so I can also tell you this has nothing to do with soapy.
Longevity: 4-6 hours on my skin.
    Projection: 3-5 feet in the first 1.5 hours.Rating: 7.0-7.5/10

I agree with the poster below me, about this being soapy and citrusy. Safe for work and day time. Could be someone’s signature if they really liked it. I’ll probably use it in the spring or early fall where I live. Not bad though, especially for $12 at TJ Maxx.

Just got it and just put it on. Someone said it smelled very “soapy citrus” and I see what they mean but I would say “soapy lime zest”. Quite fresh. Quite bright. Quite heavy at first. I will edit this when I get a chance and describe the drydown. I cannot imagine there will be an amber/tonka drydown, but I am looking forward to it if there is.

I am not familiar with any of the other Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale fragrances but a family member now owns a bottle of this Acqua Essenziale Colonia so this is my first impression of this new fragrance.. Acqua Essenziale Colonia opens up very bright, fresh, & invigorating! Lots of citrusy bergamot, & some aquatic notes make the opening.. In the heart some lavender becomes detectable along with some sage, & a hint of orange blossom.. Ambroxan in the base along with a touch of tonka add a slight sweetness to the dry down while vetiver adds masculinity.. Acqua Essenziale Colonia is a very nice spring/summer fragrance especially for the price.. This fragrance definitely does not smell like something that can be had for so cheap, matter of fact it reminds me of something from the niche house of Acqua di Parma.. Acqua Essenziale Colonia smells very Italian, the way a real “Colonia” should smell, I definitely recommend this fragrance, great quality for a very affordable price..

Im not normally a fan of aquatics but this seems like its a different take on it. Its got class and it really seems like something you would wear to the beach. Id say its more of a herbal citrus based scent. I get a lot of sage in the beginning and it gets more watery the longer it sits. This is a hell of a deal at 10 dollars for a 3.4 oz at Marshalls. It smells way more expensive than it is and its the first cheapy ive owned where i honestly cant tell that i bought it on the discount shelves

  38. :

This stuff is the real deal. I’ve been wearing it pretty much every day now, so I can give more detail about its actual scent. The real interesting thing is that I’m wearing this over Acqua Di Parma, and my other summer staple’s. It’s that good. So, theres’s some similarities here between this and ADP. I have Capucci and Eau Sauvage as well and have compared. There’s something in Capucci that is kind of grassy and it stays.
There’s a hint of that grassy citrus that is reminiscent of Capucci in the very beginning of Acqua Essenziale. It’s only in the top notes here though and is gone almost as soon as you smell it. I think that’s the intent. It’s not trying to be as dated smelling as something like Capucci that has that grassy citrus the entire length of the fragrance. AE just wants you to harken back to that style, so that note doesn’t particularly last. Also, its very citrusy at the top.
It’s not as orange heavy as ADP, so it doesn’t really smell like ADP. It just has its own citrus thing going. It’s light and fresh, just doesn’t smell like orange. I can’t really pick out the citrus notes as they are blended exquisitely with the soapy dryer sheet type smell.
ADP citrus blends into a soft soapy flowery base. This one’s citrus blends into a different more modern soapy smell.
So you can really tell this one has the same floor plans as say ADP, and other great colonia’s. A touch of italian grass in the front, (reminiscent of cappuci and other great colonia’s of yester year), but then that note fades quickly into the more present citrus and soap.
More modern soap and citrus I’d say. It still has class and is every bit as awesome as its colonia predecessor’s. If you want a modern colonia, this is your best bet.

I’m not intimately familiar with the Acqua Essenziale line by Salvatore Ferragamo, but bought Colonia on a whim as a cheap blind buy, at $13 for 100ml at Marshalls, since it seemed to have a favorable reception in the community.
I’m somewhat disappointed with this take on the “eau de cologne” scent. It has the cologne smell but involves some very sour, rotten, musky undertones that take away from freshness and add a lot of bitterness.
Not a noteworthy performer, and try at your own (limited) risk, this one is a pass for me.

So i blind bought a 3.4 oz bottle of this at Marshalls tonight for $12.99 like everyone else is doing. I guess they must have over produced it or something and theres overstock?
Anyway….i went to my car, sprayed it on my arm. Smelled for a few min. Walked back in and bought another bottle.
This. Is. So. Good!!!! Omg, just buy it.
And the bottle is great quality. I love the strong clicking metal cap.
This is my first, and certainly not the last, fragrance from this house. So impressed!!

Just recently bought this for the summer as I already have Ferragamo Tuscan Soul which I happen to love and was so pleasently surprised as this is even better. The aromatic and aquatic notes are such that soften the citrus notes while the tonka and abroxan notes adds depth and character leaving you with a well balanced really classy perfume for the summer. Truly love this perfume and it will for sure be my number one for the summer!

  44. :

    3 out of 5

I get a melting pot of Himalaya, ADP essenza, and Sauvage. It definitely has the the classic “colonia” DNA to it. It’s fresh, clean, and watery with only a hint of woods at the base. Not complex, not earth breaking, not revolutionary, and not all that good of performance…but I got a 100ml bottle for $10 at Marshall’s so why not right! The bottle is cool i guess

  45. :

    3 out of 5

All I get from this is the water notes, clary sage, and bergamot. It’s a nice scent that reminds you of a blend between Creed Himalaya and Acqua di Parma Colonia Assouluta, although it’s definitely not the same quality as those two. It’s not a bad scent but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it. Some may liken the drydown to a urinal cake. It’s actually not that bad. If one is in search of a cheap barbershop scent that smells fresh and invigorating, this is it. Just be warned, you’ll want to keep an atomizer of this on you as it evaporates quickly.

Nice fragrance, reminds me a lot of
Acqua di parma Essenza di colonia, this
one is a bit lighter and doesnt contain

cheaper too so a good alternative for a great
    summer scent.

Gentlemen, this is one of the reasons why I consider Alberto Morillas a magnificent perfumer.
It is not my first experience with him, I already have his Lanvin L’Homme, and now I smelled this along with the Blu version, and both are just exquisite for their price!
For this bottle, it opens with refreshing citrusy water notes, then Ambroxan with a hint of Tonka stays with you.
It says “colonia” on the label but I really doubt that it is a “colonia”, I sprayed it almost five hours ago and it is still going strong.
This is just great for a hot spring or summer morning.

Sprayed from a 100ml priced at $28.50 from the interwebz. Agree with buysblind’s review below, pretty bang on. I will add a few things about some notes. The bergamot is not sparkling or really fresh in the Dior sense. It is more true to how a traditional bergamot note smells, citric in a non descript way, which might be the orange blossom mixing to make it so. The vetiver note is more earth and root in a slightly dirty way, very slightly in the middle notes. It’s not smokiness or bitterness, just a smooth earthy vetiver. The lavender is mild, blended very well into the composition and leads a clean soapy flavor with the clary sage (which is strong in the initial blast). Tonka is barely perceptible, only giving the impression of slight creaminess. The odd thing is I am getting ambroxan in the base, it says amber so I can only assume they mean ambroxan. It is there, but not blaring loudly or begging to be noticed. It makes the balance slightly sweet and a little woody. I have and enjoy the original Ferragamo pour Homme and have tried most of the other scents from Altimo, the F series, some of the Tuscan collection and all the Essenziale collection. This could be placed in the Tuscan series, it is really great juice. The best I’ve tried from the regular Ferragamo lines by far and for the price a spectacular fragrance. As far as the comparision to ADP Colonia it is similar but more modern to my nose and it also reminds me of Eau Sauvage and leans more toward the citrus aromatic classification. I would go so far as to say, this is one of the better citrus aromatics I have sampled. It is well blended and has decent staying power and longevity. A fantastic deal for a summer scent. It’s a buy!

  50. :

    4 out of 5

This is a very good scent that’s managed to more or less fly under the radar.
Colonia starts out with a sharp kick of fresh bergamot over a clean, soapy heart of clary sage. Think of citrus notes and lavender, but with an added dimension of sweetness. Everything is encompassed in an aquatic sheen, radiating a translucent, aqueous aura, taking this beyond your standard herbal-aromatic. In fact, Colonia is a great marriage of the two concepts–aquatic and aromatic–and should satisfy fans of both styles. What results is a sophisticated Italian-style citrus fragrance for men; sharp in the beginning, though smooth and comfortable thereon; traditional yet completely modern. The foundation of tonka, vetiver, and ambroxan makes for a solid and somewhat sweet woody base. While this particular style of base has become rather ubiquitous, it’s very well done here and makes for a seamless conclusion. The Acqua Essenziale family is surprisingly good. With its well-crafted structure and above average performance, Colonia is perhaps the best of all, providing a crisp and elegant option to the lineup. Recommended as a blind buy for fans of aquatics and Italian citrus colognes, and those searching for a versatile warm weather fragrance. Thumbs up!

This stuff is delicious. I wasn’t a fan of the original, but this is a fresh blast, with an intriguing dry-down that keeps interest. Longevity and projection are both acceptable (moderate), and this is going on my list for a Spring purchase. Not usually a fan of acquatic scents, so it MUST be good. 🙂
    Have a great day!

    received my decant today,
    and wow !
pretty potent juice from Mr.Morillas !
it is not linear at all.
opened up with slightly soapy vibe (it reminds me of some soap) but only for the first 3-5 mins.
and after 10 mins or so, here comes the magic !
it changes into something fresh, refreshing, calming, and it projects !
i like the original acqua essenziale, but i like this even more.
    great stuff !
Scent : 8 out of 10 (lovely drydown)
Longevity : 8 out of 10 (5-6 hours on skin)
Silage : nice scent trail in the first hour.
    Definitely a Buy !

I love this as a cheaper alternative to ADP Colonia, to me is smells so similar. Great job by Salvatore Ferragamo on this one. I find his stuff to be some of the better designer frags.

Oh so that’s why I like it. Alberto Morillas formulated it just like his signature scents that have become classics like BVLGARI BLV pour homme. I sampled this on my wrist and liked it a lot more than the original Essenziale. Go for it perfume collectors (like me)! It’s unique.

Smells like a refined, chic Italian barbershop!
This is easily one of my best finds in the last 12 months or so. Italian fragrances in general are a favorite of mine and this is one of the very best I’ve found. Dry yet smooth, slightly crisp and metallic but not sharp or cold. It definitely has a barbershop vibe and I love that about it! Antonpan’s review is bang-on.
What I get out of this is some citruses, lavender, a very smooth vetiver background and maybe a tiny aquatic vibe (but you’d never in a million years mistake this for an aquatic), florals and ambroxan. Tonka adds a slight sweetness. The result is very masculine.
Performance is good and this does not smell cheap. I can see why some might find a slight resemblance with Himalaya, but this is far superior IMO. Also similar to ADP Colonia but I prefer this one, and it lasts longer.
Ferragamo has several impressive fragrances but this one may have impressed me the most. Definite try if you like this genre.

@ edge42,The vetiver note does not play the dominated role just gives some depth in the whole composition. I am not a vetiver fan too and the most dominated notes on me are Lavebder,Bergamot and Orange blossom. It is a very aromatic and fresh perfume with a “classy barbershop” style, something that is not necessary bad thing. Do not hesitate to buy it if you like soapy fresh scents. It is in my buy list for the near future.

How strong is the vetiver in this one? It’s on my radar to buy but I’m not a big vetiver fan, only as a slight background note.

OK, my verdict is that this was not a good blind buy. Have tried mixing it with other fragrances to justify spending $43, but no, this is not a keeper.

First impression: Clean, floral notes remind me of a bathroom air freshener. Lovely bottle, but so cloyingly sweet that my initial sensation is one of repulsion.
Will give it time as I just got it. May mix well with something else?

Smells like a floral women’s perfume. Makes me sneeze. Infusion d’Iris is correct as it is very similar. Scrubber. It is a persistent bastard though as it took 3 scrubbings to get it off.

Not a big fan of Acqua colognes, BUT I came across a sample of Acqua Essenziale Colonia and gave it a try.
My first thought was hey this is not bad, I may have found the 1st Acqua cologne I have ever liked. Tried again a few more times and hey this stuff is good, worth keeping.
It is not like the zillions of other acqua colognes I have tried and trashed. Starts out a light acqua scent that quickly fades into a high quality masterpiece. Has a long longevity but stays close to the skin. Pretty unique and I find myself wanting to try it again and again. So if you are not a big fan of acqua colognes this might an exception!

Excellent fragrance that makes you to feel clean, fresh and happy. In the same (soapy)vain to Prada Infusion D’Homme that i own and love. I think this one is more manly, mature, sofisticated edt and the better choice of the Acqua’s Essenziale trilogy with lower (but decent)sillage and very good longevity. I also prefer this to Prada ID’H that is more loud but less modern for my humble opinion. In my list for purchase for sure.
    Grazie Salvatore.

The opening is very fresh to the extent that a guest at my house thought that the smell coming from the shower, which is true (soapy clean top).
but the dry down is something different in a complementing way.
Very suitable for hot and warm weather.
The longevity on this one is good (about 6 hours or more) and the sillage is noticeable but not “in your face” kind, maybe 7 out of 10.
Comparing this to the BLU version it is lighter and less woody.

Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale Colonia is SHEER SOPHISTICATION. So I went to House of Fraser, London this week to buy certain cologne, and was looking for my next buy from Ferragamo house having Acqua Essenziale Blu in my mind, sales assistant asked to try Acqua Essenziale line’s newest “Colonia” and I was like there you go, another flanker. And it smelled somewhat like Acqua di Parma’s colonia and ADG Profumo, did not smell anything special to me, so I was like meh.. so we quickly moved on trying AE and AE Blu, my girlfriend liked blu. I also asked sales assistant who normally helps me for opinion, and she said Blu is her absolute favourite of in Ferragamo house. So I should pick ladies choice right?
Magic happened when I came home, dry down of Acqua Essenziale Colonia smelled the best aquatic smell ever, without any twist, very classic, but quality of the juice is just beyond amazing, it was so elegant from beginning till end, it just proves again “simplicity is sophistication” very stylish juice, I must say both AE and AE Blu is nice too, AE Blu I find kinda strong and has cool water vibe that I dont like, but I like how sweetness is added to aquatic, AE is much fresher, definitely worth its name. BUT ONLY ACQUA ESSENZIALE IS TRUE
