This review is for Colours for Men by Alexander Julian, which is not yet in Fragrantica’s database. This fragrance has a strong animalic note (I’d guess civet), and bears some resemblance to vintage Old Spice. At first, there is a bit of lemon, but that doesn’t last long. Then it is rather linear. The base has that somewhat creamy quality, with sandalwood, patchouli, and a little amber (not much vanlla). There is a strong “powdery” quality to this fragrance as well, which might mean iris, heliotrope, etc., and I’d guess some spice too. I don’t get any green or herbal qualities. It’s just has a tiny amount of sweetness to it, and longevity is great with projection (“sillage”) that is just right (with minimal application). Some might call this a “grandma” fragrance. However, it is very smooth and the ingredients seem to be high quality, so in a sense this is like a niche fragrance. Think of a better balanced, more natural smelling version of Diesel Zero Plus au Masculin with an animalic note added and you’ll have some idea of this one (the base, not the top notes).

I like this a lot… It is somewhat unusual and unique which is important to me. The fragrance is quite sweet, almost bubblegum-esque when you first spray it on. It dries out to a more woody, but still sweet scent. It is quite refreshing but does not have the staying power of some fragrances.

Colours of Summer is a very contraversial fragrance. when you unpack the box and spray it on your arm and close your eyes you instantly fly to the field of plastic flowers, silicon grass and carton mountains with rubber river and artificial animals. this perfume arouses the artificial happyness. it shifts you. to the side. a side of new, unexpected and something intimate. I can’t explain my pure emotions when I’m wearing it. but it’s a great thing to have in collection. it’s different.
