Disappointed with projection and longevity stay close to the skin and leave nothing in trail
mordor123 – :
A little resinous honey on the first application slightly sweet, straight into soft dry leather fresh wood gives an amber feel. The Oud is coming but it is so faint, I guess to subtle. I doubt this juice has the length or projection I desire from an EDP.
Lailani95 – :
A fresh slightly citrus and spicy oud. Fragrantica didn’t put the citric notes, Neroli and Bitter orange in the pyramid. I like this and Acqua Di Parmas’ Colonia Oud. A good buy, tester before of course.
NIKOS_87 – :
Don’t let the name deceive you. I don’t smell Oud in it unfortunately. But, regardless of that fact. I think this fragrance is quiet excellent. I really love how woody it is with its spicy backbone.
When I first spray it on, the fragrance is a bit harsh. Very abrasive oriental woods. But, when it dries down and hits the base, it is too die for. Smells stunning. I get a cedar wood note in it with spices like Saffron and black pepper.
I think that this is one of the best designers on the market. Especially from a house like Versace that specialize in freshies. It also lasts a good amount of time. I am getting 7 hours plus with a nice projection for a few hours.
Maybe I am just lucky, but I have no issues with its performance. But, even if it didn’t perform, I think on scent alone that this is worth a pickup. Especially since you can get it for as low as 50 bucks. But, if you get as lucky as me and can get it for 25 bucks. Than, you are literally stealing it at that price.
svyaznoy – :
For me after Dylan Blue is the best fragrance than house of Versace. Niche complexity in designer bottle could be a great description. So wearable oudy resiny scent. Not animalic . Performance is average and projection is good for a dark fragrance. My prefer in winter… one of my must haves. In my opinion this can be worn by ladies easily. I didn’t get compliment by Versace Oud Noir so far, but sometimes I need wear fragrances for my heart, for my nose! This is one them.
doktor2807 – :
Funny that the notes here say ‘spices’ but I’m picking up on one in particular.
To some western noses, this would be a novel scent but to me it instantly reminds me of a creamy Indian dessert called ‘Kulfi’ which has flavouring imparted by the cardamom spice. Definitely a first of it’s kind though compared with mainstream fragrances.
A creamy linear EDP, a musty, powdery oud. Mild sillage but good longevity (although I haven’t worn this around the office yet to receive any compliments). It is a skin scent.
It’s perhaps, the sister of Tom Ford’s Oud Wood but be warned, it is thick and heavy with cardamom. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of this particular spice as I’ve accidentally bit into the pods or chewed the black seeds by mistake and it tastes awful on it’s own. Also mother dear used to flavour her milky sweet black tea’s with this and loved it. It’s definitely better when blended amongst other flavourings.
After revisiting my bottle a week or so later, I find that even a sniff of the atomiser alone hits me with a heavy, queasy scent of cardamom/saffron and nothing else and makes me feel sick. Almost like the scent has intensified since the bottle was opened. A scent that I would not wear everyday. Very potent stuff.
Versace colognes have always in my opinon been edgy and this is no exception. I’d venture to say this could be a women’s parfum.
However, I would recommend a test first rather than a blind buy as this is one of a kind but not suited to all. Overall I would give this 3.5 out of 5 stars.
ababnxsnvms – :
If you are a man who has not worn an oud before, I do not recommend this fragrance. I say this as this was my first oud and I was unimpressed. Perhaps it is because I am a growing man and it would be more suited for a mature man, but for whatever the reason I did not enjoy this fragrance.
The opening smells of an odd assortment of leather and (scent DNA) alcohol. I can’t put my finger on it, but I do enjoy the opening. The problem is that after that point it takes a heavy nose-dive to the woody oud with a spice to it. Again, this is all personal preference, but I have a feeling this is too much oud and spice to start with for a man’s first oud. Then again, I may not be a man for oud; time will tell.
I will say longevity and consistent sillage are above average. Yes, the performance does not last, but dry down sillage is fairly consistent compared to the mass of other fragrances out there. All in all, good work there for my bottle.
Versatility is slightly above average, but there is nothing wrong with that. This fragrances has a time and place, mostly being cooler seasons and nights out. This means it works very well at night during Fall and Winter, and I would go as far as to say it may go well in some casual events/work-places during the Winter days.
Compliment-wise is…decent. More mature men and women are likely to compliment this fragrance, but I get no to negative compliments from younger men and women. With me being a man in his 20s who does not enjoy the fragrance already, this does not help matters.
To wrap this review up, I cannot wrap my nose around this fragrance just yet and neither can both crowds I am with. If the compliment or accent factor was greater then I would keep this cologne, but the performance alone is not going to cut it for me. Of you are a more mature man who is also more casual and business oriented then I would say grab a sample of this. Until then, I will have to take a pass on Versace Oud Noir (and possibly some other ouds) for the time being.
Age type: Mature men

Final remarks: Best for mature men during cooler, season evenings, but I offer a word of warning against any you get man who wants to blind buy this fragrance on a whim.

Ah, another Oud fragrance for men. There has been time, I’ve been more interested in men’s fragrance section in the department stores than the section for women 🙂 I got bored with sniffing women’s fragrances everywhere I go, as I guess, pretty much, every female nowadays wears perfume. Then I “wondered” how come I have rarely caught a whiff of male’s fragrance from other men anywhere in reality, beside just my husband’s? Do most guys actually wear their perfumes/colognes, or they just like collecting them!?!?!? :))
Anyway, what I have experienced in men’s fragrances are just simply based on the experiments on my poor beloved husband as my “guinea pig”…or on myself :)) So here goes…
Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir is an interesting complex fragrance for men. IMO, it is a combination of the “Noir” version of a perfume (deeper, darker) with Oud added as an “enhancer”. Therefore, if you are looking for a “clean” Oud scent, you will not find it here. It is rather a “dry” and “raw” Oud fragrance (imagine dry white wine in cooking), and actually leans more to the “Noir” side, with strong spices and leather from the opening. I found Versace Man more “juicy”, “fresher” and “sweeter” because of labdanum, bergamot, saffron flower and angelica in it to help “polishing” the Oud note. I just don’t like the “bitter” tobacco note there.
I prefer TF Oud Wood for a touch of creaminess in the dry down (from vanilla and different spices such as cardamom and tonka bean) and really like Gucci Oud Intense for more warm, smoother and “rounder” Oud (with incense and amber).
kostyaa1965 – :
Holy schmack! I don’t know how they did it, but it smells remarkably similar to Versace Man (the purple one). Although the listed notes are drastically different…. no wonder they discontinued Versace Man. It is denoted as an EDP but the performance is no better than an EDT. However the scent is grand just like Versace Man.

Been in the fraggame for almost a year now and boy, have my taste developed. The first time I smelled an oud I was mesmerized. I had never smelled anything like it. It was repulsive and seductive at the same time. Now it’s one of my favorite notes. This one is done very nice. I don’t find it that similar to oud wood. Oud can have a kind of exclusive laundry detergent smell to it, which oud wood has but oud noir doesn’t. If oud wood is on your want-list you’re not going to be satisfied with this, but if your want a nice, office friendly oud, this might be for you.
Average performer.
As stated by TonyAKAMrClean longer down the comment section. This works really well layered with Club de Nuit Intense
nmvdnepr – :
This is an absolutely fantastic oud fragrance. But please pay attention to this disclaimer: it seems like a lot of people don’t understand that oud is a naturally sour and “stinky” note. It’s not for everyone, so if you blind buy this and end up thinking it smells like sweat, or cat piss, or whatever, well … that’s what oud smells like.
It’s up to the perfumer to make sure the oud is well blended with other complementary notes that simultaneously mask the offensive characteristics, while still letting the oud have a voice. It’s not an easy task, and some fragrances (like M7 Oud Absolu) just bury the oud under sweeter notes.
Versace Oud Noir blends the oud with peppery spice, and it’s a beautiful combination. The oud is here, not shy or hiding, but the pepper keeps the oud from turning noxious, and actually props it up so that it becomes respectable and sophisticated. Not an easy thing to do!
I have enough fragrances in my collection that I almost never wear the same thing two days in a row, but Versace Oud Noir was so delicious that I wore it for two consecutive days. It was that intoxicating and addictive.
Both days, I sprayed it on at about 7:30 a.m. and was still catching wonderful wafts of it at 6:00 p.m. — but it’s definitely a scent that naturally stays a bit closer to the body because it’s thicker and heavier.
This fragrance might just have displaced Polo Supreme Oud as my Number Two overall oud scent. (Varvatos Oud is still Number One.)

Took awhile for me to really appreciate this fragrance. It’s not terrifically oudy, but it’s still a bit unfamiliar to my western nose. also, still getting used to woody fragrances in general.
As far as I can determine, there are absolutely none of longevity issues which other people here have mentioned. My skin eats up fragrance. I have had 5 sprays on since 450 PM it’s 0326 am and it still smells lovely. definitely toned down at this point however. The majority of the remaining scent is coming from my shirt
maybe I’m mistake but I presume that mostly anyone with longevity issues with this fragrance, is instead experiencing olfactory fatigue. Likely they sprayed it on their chest or so- rather than somewhere where they would get some occasional wafting back to their noses.
The sillage however is less than incredible. Others will smell you primarily while they are in a Personal space. Small room, brushing past you, hugging, etc.
Did I mention that I really Like this? It’s mysterious and sweet and now that I’m used to it, it somehow also seems super approachable, like a “safe” oud. My wife doesn’t dislike it, but she doesn’t like it either. similar to her feeling about l’instant de guerlain. She instead prefers fragrances like dior homme, sean john unforgiveable, boucheron Jaipur.. Basically sweet or mass market appeal.
praktik55 – :
This stuff is really nice, and I would say an amazing bargain. I would not compare it to Oud Wood, and at a mere 1/6th of the Tom Ford’s price, I actually prefer this one. I should mention I am not generally a fan of oud, but I appreciate the as sort of juicy element or shower fresh vibe this has going on in the background. The nearest scent it reminds me of is actually Oud & Bergamot by Jo Malone. This has a smooth smokiness with a bit of pepper, and a medecinal oud note – not the same as the creamy one in Oud wood, where everything sort of blends together. I do not pick up on any leather, really, but you can easily distinguish the oud and the seperate fresh and more juicy aspect.
kabana – :
If you’re coming from an experience of designer colognes, this is a good oud. It’s an easy, inoffensive intro to the world of oud fragrances. It’s even office safe, due to its low sillage and smoothly blended notes. You could totally rock this in a suit and tie without damaging your chances of promotion. Who knows – it might even help you to seduce the cutie in the next cubicle. And the price is reasonable and not inflated.
If you’re coming from an experience of more authentic ouds, this is a huge disappointment. It’s lacking in any real oud note. Its performance is poor. It’s totally lacking in passion or interest. Even relatively mild Western interpretations of oud like Guerlain Oud Essentiel/Santal Royal or Ferrari Essence Oud are more interesting and authentic. Then you have Montale and Mancera scents that are a stepping stone to a more robust level. After which there are yet further levels of intensity.
So it’s either a good scent or a bad scent, depending on where you’re coming from.
UPDATE: Even though I have experienced more authentic ouds myself, I do rather like this scent on second smelling. It reminds me of a blend between a better oud and Burberry London for Men.
an1750 – :
It is a good western oud or friendly-oud fragrance. Smells expensive and classy.
It has similarities to tom ford oud wood in mid notes – drydown phase but vercase oud noir is much more spicy in the opening / mid notes.
Performance / longevity are slightly below average (despite EDP concentration) but the sillage is there.
For the price, it was a good buy.
Update:
I am getting complements most of the time I am wearing this. Many comment on how luxurious the smell is. The longevity is totally better on clothes.
Underfark – :
I think my favorite of the Versace colognes. There are probably 100’s of Oud colognes on the market (I think Tom Ford alone offers 7-8). It’s Agarwood and supposedly a highly valued possession. I don’t see all the hype. I’ve got Gucci Oud Intense and it lasts weeks. You can’t wash it off your clothes. I have 2 variations of Bulgari Black which are both Oud and interesting concoctions. The Versace Oud is my favorite. It’s a little Oud, a little orange and a lot of Versace. One of my favorite colognes.

The western take on oud. And it is done nicely. Works well in any occasion and in any season, even in summer. Projection is not one of those which fill the room, nevertheless, you will be leaving a nice trace for a couple of hours. For a price, it is a good stuff.
And oud wood from tom ford is way too much different. There are similarities, but only small ones.
Scent: 8/10
Performance: 6/10
Versatility: 7/10
stag76 – :
A very fine woodsy, semi-Oud scent. Can be worn at work as it is close to the skin and not a too hardcore breathtaking Oud, but still has that darker side, opposite of citrusy, and discretely snags the attention of those you stand close too. Clean leather, earthy wood in a warm sweater that is not overpowering at all, a very relaxing scent.
sergeymaliev – :
This stuff is golden right here.. reason why it’s on my top 5, smells elegant last at least 8 hours and projects better then average. When I had first smelt this I knew right away it was up my alley. This for me is slightly better then Versace Man although there very similiar Im really digging the way the oud was blended to make this fantastic magic potion 9/10 easily.
Ozi – :
Great Oud fragrance. I watched youtube reviews and read most of the reviews here as well before I bought it. Most reviewers seemed to like the scent but said it had no staying power. Thus, most of the reviewers seems to give it a poor score. It was cheap enough on Amazon to give it a try.
(fast forward to today… bought it… used it)
This stuff lasts all day on me. I love the smell. Nothing overpowering but a nice woodsy, spicy, leathery scent that most people would find very pleasant. It’s a good fall/winter scent. If I had to describe this scent I would say it smells like the Nordstroms Mens Section by the leather jackets. Is that a good thing? I think so. I have always loved the way Nordstrom smelled… even as a little kid. Obviously the scent is more complicated than that but it was crazy how it brought back memories of shopping with my mom and two younger sisters at Nordstroms as we would hide in the clothes racks (hopefully I can give my own kids some of those same fun memories).
I think I will refresh half way through the day with Givenchy Absolute to give myself a little cinnamon and vanilla as the Oud and leather drys down.
One thing I have learned about fragrances is that they are very different on different people. All the aromatic-aquatic scents (aqua gio, polo blue, et cetera) are horrible on me. I love they way they smell in the bottle but on me they smell like ‘wet dog’ and ‘body odor’. During the spring and summer I love Chanel Platinum and even Eternity does well on my skin.
But, that’s my review on Versace Oud Noir.
I give it two thumbs up.
dya813speagoessenda – :
I love woods but this I’m struggling with this a little. It’s opening is very nice, with hints of spice and leather. The Oud here is nice. It’s upon dry down that it starts to have hints of being medicinal or even a pine disinfectant floor cleaner. It’s off putting. Because of this I’m thinking that one or more of the notes are synthetic.
I by far like Boss Bottled Oud as a cheaper designer Oud fragrance over this. That one feels more dense without the medicinal properties that my nose picks up. Definitely for the mature man if it’s something that’s pleasing to you.
targol – :
At first sniff, I do not like this at all. Smells like chocolate covered wood and tobacco. My first oud frag and im turned off to oud now. I heard this isnt genuine oud, but if this is anything like real oud, Im out.
Too rich, musty, dark spicy blegh. Not for me
DJ FLASH – :
I don’t know why many seems to get performance issues. But on my skin it last really long. Bought a bottle, but performances vary from 5-12 hours. Maybe due to the weather, or the humidity of my skin.
Wore it last night 10 pm, can still smell a glimpse of it 12 hour after spraying.
The scent is good. I know this is synthetic oud, but this is wearable for my age, unlike many ouds that smell like really old man. It’s really interesting though. One day i sprayed it and smells really spicy, the other day there’s no spice and full of wood, sometimes it’s leather dominant. But eitherway, this is masculinity in a bottle.
Impeptofeds – :
Only briefly smelled it, but in that duration smelled gross, cheap, and it soon faded into nonexistence. Pass!
STEPAN4O – :
Tried this today at Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge.
Well, what can I say ? Tiger balm (the red one) with camphor and menthol. Nice for summer, but…where is the oud ? Where is the leather ?
prooclala – :
This one is amazing.
Tried it today and it lasted 6+ hours on my wrists after one spray. And it has the same TF oud wood vibe (Aromatic woods, called oud but it is definitely not)
The opening is similar to TF with extra smokiness and lots of pepper, the dry down is very luxury.
The silage is the only negative thing about this frag.
Worth buying 8/10.
Liaigonnere – :
If you own TF Oud Wood, is this one worth buying? I’ve been pondering a purchase. I’ve come back to my obsession with Oud again after being burnt out for over 2 years now.
Kakashechka – :
This is equal parts Versace Man and Tom Ford Oud Wood. Tobacco, saffron, oud, woody notes and leather… what’s not to like?!
So far, this is REALLY good! I love this oud note. It’s the same note that makes Oud Wood so good, but I really appreciate the tobacco, saffron, and the tiny bit of spice and leather that are in Oud Noir. If anything, this is Oud Wood IMPROVED! Much in the same way that the original Pour Homme was Acqua Di Gio improved.
A friend of mine just had me purchase TF Oud Wood for him a few days before I purchased this, and I can say for certain that they’re nearly identical, but I prefer Oud Noir for its subtle differences. The price difference ($260 vs $42 on Notino) doesn’t hurt either!
Longevity has been great too, over 8-10 hours for me the half dozen times I’ve worn it. Projection is moderate, but just a bit lower than I’d like after the 3-4 hour mark. The same is true for Oud Wood though, so I can’t really peg Oud Noir for that, especially given its price versus Oud Wood.
This scent should be a no brainer if you even remotely like Tom Ford Oud Wood, or if you love it, but don’t love its price.
Now if only there were a Versace clone of Tuscan Leather…

Smells VERY much like the Original Versace Man(the purple bottle). Not really feeling this one. Versace Man is actually better and cheaper. This is basically a spicer version of Versace Man. Not bad, just not for me. A little too peppery.
Aerohoplenerinxk – :
It truly reminds me of TF Oud Wood, but without the pervading notes of cardamom, incense and leather. Had it, but had to sell it. Versace should be working on a sibling of this. Perhaps “Oud Noir Intense”! This one’s performance and projection isnt impressive!
puh 2000 – :
High class woody-leathery designer oud fragrance.
When I first heard of the comparisons to Versace Man, I was very doubtful, as I own and love Man and could not get into my head how an oud-based scent could be similar to a saffron-based scent. Now that I’ve tried it I must say it is very similar to Man, but with deeper more fullfilled notes. More oud than saffron, and somehow seems more exclusive. The oud is slightly synthetic, sweet and westernized, so that it won’t come across as anything “rotten” – so glad they didn’t mix any rose into this one.
The scent itself is spicy, warm and boozy and after a couple of hours it dries down to a great leathery and woody base with hints of cardamom and pepper.
Sillage and longevity are average (while my Versace Man is bordering on nuclear) but maybe this could be due to the fact that it is EdP strength ?? Anyway, I see no reason to own it as long as I have Man, but most probably this is the one that will take over after my discontinued Man is empty – at that time I reckon the price of Oud Noir will be identical to Versace Man of today.
Definitely one of the best releases from Versace in the last five years.

About 2 months ago I started to discover the world of Oud. I sprayed this at The Bay and didn’t like it at first. 2 weeks later I was in the Versace store with my now ex-girlfriend and decided to give it another shot. Upon spraying, my ex-girlfriend immediately loved it, and surprisingly I did also. For the rest of the day this scent lingered on my hand and I found myself pulling in for my sniffs.
I just received my 100ml bottle in the mail earlier this week – great bottle! And it’s one of my favourites in my growing collection. It’s warm, woodsy, and has the perfect amount of sweetness on my skin. The only thing I wish it had was better projection; it projects for about 4-5 on me. The longevity is quite good though – a solid 9 hours.
Been on 2 dates this weekend and both women complimented me on the scent. So every time I’ve worn this fragrance a woman has liked it. So I would recommend it. It’s a perfect date night perfume. It’s not in your face, but it’s subtly there.
Overall I’d give it a 8/10. It’s a great starter Oud before getting into the real stuff!

I’ve always loved woody fragrances, this perfume reminds me of a forest which just has had a rain, or i can say a fire in woods which has been just extinguished by the rain. I really like the fragrance, the just annoying thing about it to me is its projection. Really nice fragrance but the projection not satisfying.

Not bad. I like the woodsy peppery opening. The dry down smells a lot like Bentley Absolute with that pencil shaving vibe to it. Bentley does it way better though.

I want to start by saying I have NEVER smelled Oud before, so I was very curious, as I am pretty young and new to the fragrance world. I tend to like oriental fragrances, so I decided to order a sample to see what this Agar wood is all about.
Opening is unbelievably MEDICINAL. The first couple of times, I was almost offended, LOL. But over time, I actually started liking that harsh opening.Besides the opening, I LOVED it from first spray. Like I said, I never smelled Oud before…I see people complaining about this fragrance here, but to my nose, this is amazing. I would recommend it to people just starting out with Oud.
To people that don’t know what Oud smells like…I guess I’m going to try to describe it, based on what I get from this fragrance: A very strong, woody, spicy scent that smells like a mixture between Rose and Myrrh.
I don’t recommend it to young people. I love the scent myself, I am enjoying it, but I could NEVER wear this outside my house. I am going to wait until I’m over 30. It’s not even sexy on younger people.
Overall, I’d say it’s pretty unisex. A lot Rosier than I expected. I give it 4 out of 5 Stars! (I don’t really have much of an idea about Longevity and Sillage because I can’t tell much from a sample).
sammael7 – :
Excellent one from Versace, although I dont agree with the notes described here.
I can smell patchouli at the beginning, and later there are vetiver and cardamom notes; leather is very mild, if at all present. Oud and wood are there from beginning to end.
Excellent sillage and moderate longevity. I can even smell it through my shirt and jumper and its only 2 spritz)
Good one for oud lovers

What an elegant, unique and marvelous scent! Under 35 years do not proceed further! This is real stuff for secretive stylish self-confidant gentlemen!
I came to know Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir for men when I was looking to buy a similar Tom Ford Fleur Oud, then I came to see this elegant bottle in black and gold, what a fantastic bottle design, well-done Donatella 🙂
The scent is no different than its pretty looking bottle, one of the best oud/oriental spicy smell out there and less cheaper than expensive TF fragrances, although when it comes to heavy performance and projection TF oud scents take over.
Versace needs a big recognition for this scent and would better work on the performance side of its creation to make it incompatible. On my dry skin, I get a 3-4 hours of projection and 5-6 hours longevity, pity though!
In the opening and pretty to the end to its dry down stage, you get pretty a linear pleasant out smell accompanied with spices, oriental woodsy notes and a deep leather note.
This is quite an skin thing and I say it would project perhaps more on some skins than the others, but again for such a warm oriental spicy scent you expect a descent performance after paying a great deal of money!
I love this scent and I forgive its average projection and would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of oud, specially a moderate gentle and not ugly in your face 😉

Got a decant of this, since the Versace line seems to be very nice to me overall. I am new enough to the fragrance world, that I really don’t know what Oud is or means, but I have not liked 2 oud fragrances that I have tried.
Performance seems nice, but I think I smell like gasoline. Not for me.

The thinest oudy and oriental frag that I’ve ever tried, and below the average definately. As boring and synthetic as other Versaces.
You can find hundreds of better substitutions on the market. Not worth it!Rating: less than 5.0/10.
