Wow. Was not expecting to adore this, but I do. I don’t smell most of the notes, just a pure and elegant vanilla, wood and amber. It’s simple, beautiful and calming. I honestly feel like I’ve had an aromatherapy session. The longevity is astonishing, the projection moderate. This is liquid bliss. Can’t imagine any situation, season, mood or venue that this wouldn’t suit. Perfection.

I wanted to like this vanilla scent more than I did. There are tiny hints of Un Bois Vanille (my favorite vanilla), but it’s too woody for my taste. I like a sweeter, more gourmand vanilla. But with all that in consideration, I still find this scent wearable for me. I like the splash of lime. And I feel like it’s a good autumn vanilla. If you like woody scents and find most vanilla fragrances too sweet, I think you’re in for a treat here!

I actually… don’t like this. I thought I would reading the notes and perusing through reviews about it being a unisex vanilla. My thoughts after wearing it on my wrist for the past 10 hours (yes, it lasts quite a while) are that it’s a unique, somewhat upsetting vanilla. I think I would have liked it better if I hadn’t read the name. It doesn’t come off as a “vanilla” fragrance to me. It’s a semi-sweet, oddly plastic-like fragrance that somewhat reminds me of sweetened milk spilled on a piece of lumber. Not for me, but original.

Amazing blind buy after purchasing Atelier Tobacco Nuit.
I’m not necessarily a vanilla scent man but this product changed me.
I agree with MORESCENTS below – this is THE VANILLA SCENT FOR MEN. though easily wearable for the ladies.
Its like someone is burning the vanilla pod for the briefest of a fraction of a second and smoothes it over.
It rocks for longevity and has an awesome silage and yet it is not crass or in your face.
    Exceptionally mature and natural.
Since this I have gone on a Vanilla spree and owned or tried many – funnily enough the other top choices IMO are suggested above – Profumus Dolce Aqua (though this is more coconut) and 4160 This Is the Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Profumus and this one amaze for quality and performance.
I have tried many ATELIER COLOGNE perfumes and whilst not always my taste they easily have one of the best brand ethos and products I have tried!
    Happy Smelling

Very classy, smooth, sits close, discreet but long lasting.
The opposite of what I tend to go for to be honest. I like loud, bombastic type vanilla perfumes like La vie est belle for example.
This at first, smells like true vanilla but as it dried down becomes very smooth, silky, sweet incense.
If Belle is Pink leather this beauty is white silk.
Not for everyone, I invision this on a beautiful, sophisticated office person of either sex or even a nurse, some one who wants to smell gorgeous and clean but not draw attention to them selves or offend anyone.
This smells very smooth, clean and unisex.
The only reason I will be swapping it is because I seek a louder, sweeter scent.
When I woke up it’s still there like a sweet , smooth veil of almost like a white leather note, maybe it the vetivier.
All this I got from just two sprays. Quite incredible after expecting this to be a weak cologne.
    A+

Caramel fudge. Straight up caramel candy on my skin. It lasts forever, gets more powdery as time goes by. Fall scent. Again, caramelized sugar with vanilla extract.

this is the perfume i gave to my childhood best friend to wear on her wedding day. autumn surrounded by the snow covered peaks of the grand tetons in wyoming. soft, romantic, sweet, but nothing girly-candy about it. the oak moss makes it nostalgic if not, eventually, timeless (what is old is new again). in fact, it appears i’m alone here in finding the oak moss such a strong component ! but nevertheless, one of the more unique vanilla compositions i’ve encountered. HOWEVER, with all this praise it comes with a warning: definitely test on your skin before purchasing. i’ve found that on some skins it turns to, i kid you not, tinned black olives. shocking, i know. luckily, for those who find it turns on their skin, this is glorious (and extremely long lasting) spritzed on a sweater or scarf. heavenly in fact.

There’s not a whole lot to wax poetic about here – just a classically handsome, grown up vanilla!
Like most (all?) Atelier scents, it’s decidedly unisex, though in my mind’s eye this particular vanilla is a man. It’s inoffensive and works well for everyone I’ve smelled it on.
I love this for layering with other fragrances, especially ones that lean sweet and benefit from a touch of warm spice. Great sillage and longevity.
A versatile and understated classic that will always have a place in my collection.

I call Vanille Insensee “vanilla for people who don’t like vanilla.” If you’re looking for gourmand sweetness, look somewhere else. The lime goes a long way toward tempering the vanilla’s sweetness, and overall this is a rather light perfume – but not “beachy” light. It’s great for work, inoffensive.

I’m in the thumbs down camp too. I bought a deluxe sample box with several Atelier’s perfume sprays, and this was one of the weakest and least memorable of the lot.

Plasticky vanilla. Really. It’s quite weird. Plasticky as in the smell of a new home appliance or the inside of a DVD box.
A try before you buy for sure.

The citrusy/floral top notes in this dissipate as soon as it dries on my skin. It then becomes, and stays, a pretty much straight-up vanilla, almost as if I had dabbed vanilla extract on myself. I’m fine with that, since I was looking for a perfume with a plain vanilla scent. I will note that the first few times I smelled this when it wasn’t on my skin, the vanilla note was on the same level as the citrus and floral notes, and I was disappointed and didn’t like the scent. Maybe this is one that takes time to be appreciated.

With Ligne St. Barth Vanille West Indies this is my favorite vanilla fragrance ever. I like it, because it’ s fresher than many other vanilla fragrances on the market. On my skin it’s beautiful vanilla, with hint of wood notes and lime. After few hours vanilla and hint of jasmine is all I can smell. It´s a skin scent, not over powering, but for my skin it last for ages. I mean AGES. If I put it in the evening, I still can smell vanilla in my wrist next evening. Quality is superb! LOVE.

I agree with emt 1986 Insensee is very weak, a mere whisper of a woody vanilla. Very faint silage and terrible longevity. It just really missed the mark for me. There are MUCH better woodsy Vanilla scents out there… Nirvana Bourbon, Cologne of the Missions, and the Indie Oils Manor by Solstice Scents and Vanilla Oak by Alchemic Muse. This scent just doesn’t match the price tag.

  15. :

Nondescript unisex woody-ish vanilla. The citrus note is a nice touch, but I smell nothing that I would describe as an incense smell, which is disappointing as I adore incense notes in perfumery. Overall VI is a pleasant enough scent, but I’ve marked it as a dislike because it is WEAK. Seriously, unless you’re a fan of very whispery perfumes, don’t waste your money. I guess I may as well use up my travel spray, which shouldn’t take long.

After about half an hour after spraying it on my wrist I couldn’t figure out who was wearing D&G The One next to me. Well, I was haunting myself. On me, both fragrances are just vanilla, nothing else. Atelier is spicier vanilla, not sweet at all. 4 hours later I tried to wash it off, and it won’t, just got softer. I really need it off though! I tried to persuade myself that it is nice, “ Shalimar-type of vanilla, it is just vanilla”, but no, I can’t. I really dislike it. Stale spices with vanilla.

  17. :

Beautiful scent. Atelier’s found a way to sophistify vanilla, for lord’s sake. It’s smooth and dimensional and most importantly not cloyingly sweet

  18. :

    4 out of 5

This is a close, cool and dry vanilla with a very subtle wooded smokiness. It almost has a musk like scent on me – though it’s not listed in the notes. I don’t get much from the citrus, coriander, jasmine nor oak moss notes – but I do believe they come together in some slightly magical way to make this a nice vanilla that is not too sweet or gourmand. I enjoy this fragrance and my family all love it on me. My only complaint is that the longevity is quite low. It just doesn’t last long enough on my skin. On another note, I love the styling of the Atelier range. The simple design and labelling reminds me of apothecary style bottles with a modern twist.

  19. :

This is a vanilla cologne for the warmer weather. Vanilla perfumes are usually heavy and sweet and more suitable for colder months, but Atelier manages to produce a blend for the warmer months. The citrus and woody notes surround the center staged creamy vanilla. It is a light gourmand, like a fresh chilled vanilla cream desert. It’s moderately sweet, mostly linear and with medium performance.
    Scent: 6.5/10
    Longevity: 7/10
    Projection: 5/10

On paper: I don’t think I like the incense in this one. It just doesn’t smell good next to the vanilla.
On skin: I’m delighted! They blend much better on skin than they did on paper.
The vanilla came through very strongly for the first hour or so. Then the incense became more prominent. Now that it’s a skin scent, the two are about even. It’s a wonderful spicy vanilla.
Note to self: Two spritzes is a LOT of scent. Absolutely no need for more. One is plenty for most occasions.

I started wearing this then felt it needed something more to it so I layered it. I think if someone wants a nice entry level simple vanilla fragrance..this would be a good starting point.

  22. :

    5 out of 5

I feel like this would do better layered with something else. It opens with plastic woods and a dry vanilla. Then there was a blast of burning ozone, which faded after a bit- thank goodness. Occasionally, the vetiver pops out and blends with the woods. But, it seems to switch back and forth between this and the plastic woods.

  23. :

I got a sample of this and I must say, I’m SO impressed! On my skin the opening smells more like woody, slightly amber-y vanilla, but soon it turns into lemon/lime-vanilla ice cream with a hint of woodiness. I usually dislike gourmand scents but I love this one, because it’s very clean, citrusy vanilla. Unfortunately, its longevity isn’t great on my skin, but if I put it on my shirt I can smell it for many more hours. Occasionally I get a wonderfully pleasant whiff of “a bowl of perfectly tangy, balanced citrus vanilla ice cream by the fireplace”, and wonder why the room smells so good, and realize it’s actually my shirt! lol! How could I say no to this perfume?!?!

  24. :

    3 out of 5

This smells nice on my clothes, but unfortunately my skin curdles it into a vinegar like smell. Can only get a tiny hint of cedar, not even any vanilla or citrus. Not for everyone, so I wouldn’t recommend a blind buy. :/

This is such a nice vanilla. It’s not sweet or cupcakey or gourmand, really at all, which for me is a plus. It’s not super boozy and heavy (although I like those too). It’s a nice woodsy vanilla, with some incense and amber. It’s cozy but still elegant, and appropriate for the office, casual weekends or evening so fairly versatile too, I love this one.

I bought my first bottle of Vanille Insensee in July 2016 and I fell in love with it’s almost smoky vanilla scent. Every time I wore it I got comments on how unique and beautiful the scent was. I eventually ran out so I purchased another larger bottle. But the scent was different… it wasn’t smoky or woody smelling. It was more citrus and very faint. I’m not sure which scent is the true fragrance now. I think they may have changed the ingredients or something. The first bottle I purchased had the old label with the sideways branding. Anyways, I’m not sure if I’ll buy again because it was the first bottle I fell in love with.

This may be my favorite vanilla. I love vanilla in general, but I don’t always want to smell like cake. The sweetness is balanced so nicely with the citrus and earthy wood. I think this is an all seasons, all occasions kind of fragrance. It does feel “warm” for colder months but still fresh enough for hot days. Sexy enough for a date night, but inoffensive enough for the office. This would layer well with so many other fragrances. I think I’m going to need a bigger bottle…

First sniff/Immediate impression: Orange dreamsicle. There is no orange or clementine listed but this is what I smell every time. I quite like it, reminds me of Summer days, warm weather and an easy going attitude of looking at things. Cant really be in a bad mood eating an dreamsicle or smelling one!
Looking at the notes and seeing lime listed, I see why I smell something citrus. The vanilla is dominate and it presents itself as being sweet with strong wood accords and a marshmallow like musk. This transforms beautifully on my skin. Citrus fades first on my skin and the vanilla woods, like that of sandalwood, takes over. Eventually it ends with buttery caramel. While I do find this perfume to be warm smelling, I wouldnt classify this as heavy.
I dont get the references to Eau Duelle. Eau Duelle is much spicier while Vanille Insensee is not at all spicy to my nose. Vanille Insensee is very creamy and sweeter. I like both, and I get they are both vanilla perfumes, quite excellent ones, but opposites.
For those who secretly like cupcakes vanillas but dont like admitting it, and for those who want to wear a vanilla that dances on the edge of being a delectable gourmand all while being a grownup, this is for you. Beautifully done.

That musky sweet smell of a heavily trafficked ice cream parlour. Warm air pushes through and clashes with the chill of fresh vanilla scoops being handed quickly to a long line of bubbly customers.
Then, after the ice cream parlour closes for the evening, the manager sits in the back room counting his money on an old leather couch, with nag champa burning towards a single hanging metal lamp.
Comforting, nostalgic, sweet, and kinda dirty.
    My kind of fragrance 🙂

I am, overall, not impressed by Atelier Cologne company but I gave this a try because I love vanilla. However, this is not the vanilla I expected to smell. Atelier Cologne uses adjectives like “unexpected”, “fresh and woody” to describe this scent and I think they are accurate. VI is not the “cupcake”, cozy vanilla that I gravitate toward but rather a more unisex, woody, subtle vanilla. In fact, on my skin, the vanilla is almost non existent. Today I wear VI on a cold rainy day and it just works. I also envision VI on a cooler summer day since it has some citrus notes. It is unobtrusive, simple but kind of unique as well. I smell strong oak and vetiver notes. For those that are sick of gourmand and sweet vanilla that make you feel like you work in a cake shop, I suggest VI. Great for men who like vanilla but do not want to smell feminine and ideal for women who do not want to smell juvenile. I think VI makes a great base for mixing with other fragrances. I might consider mixing it with one of my Jo Malones.
I tried Vanille Insensee paired with Jo Malone English Oak & Redcurrant and I am loving them together.

This is lovely. I’ve been on a quest for a vanilla fragrance that doesn’t suffocate me because I’ve long suspected that my husband likes vanilla scents (he’s gifted my vanilla-scented lotions a couple of times). I received this one in a Sephora Sampler and immediately dismissed it because it has Vanilla in the name (I was figuring that I’d only be happy with one where the vanilla is not the main player). I dismissed it so much so that when my 4 and 6 year olds asked me to spritz them with some perfume, I grabbed this one and told them it smells like cake. They were in heaven. Buuut, then I kept smelling it on them once it had turned woody and realized that it smells fantastic. So, I gave it a try myself and fell in love. It’s well blended, and I pick up the lime note throughout which to me cuts through the vanilla to give it a little kick. And the woody drydown is just gorgeous.  I went full bottle and it’s a great and different addition to my very small collection.

This is a beautifully blended bold vanilla. Warm, sexy, and inviting like a favorite cashmere sweater. The scent is ever lasting – a little goes a long way! It is perfect worn alone, or it can be layered with almost any other fragrance. For me the natural vanilla bean scent takes center stage while the woods/moss softly linger in the background. Sophisticated and well done!

This is gorgeous. I love it!
Soft, warm and woody vanilla. Mmmmmm! Perfect thing to wear to bed on a cold winter’s night.
My husband says I smell like lemon pound cake, lol.

  36. :

Very woody. The Vanilla isn’t as sweet as most I’ve smelled. I wouldn’t describe this as girly but not entirely masculine either. It’s grounding.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Not the usual boring vanilla. This is a bit different, I enjoy wearing it.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

Meh. I like it, but on my skin it’s just okay. The other Atelier fragrances I’ve tried have been more complex, with quite a bit of evolution between first spray and how I smell an hour later (I really enjoy that with scents like Cafe Tuberosa).
I can see how many people can love this scent. It’s versatile, approachable, very friendly and innoffensive.
But on me, it’s just kind of boring.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

This feels incomplete, like something needs added or taken away. At first I thought I liked it, but the notes didn’t coalesce into anything smooth or pleasant on my skin. Kind of like I smell it all separately with no blending. I think I might like this much better on a man.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

Wow, i can’t believe more reviews don’t mention the similarity between Vanille Insensee and Vanilla Fields…to me, the top and middle notes are so, so! reminiscent of this 90’s drugstore perfume! By no means a dupe, but definitely in the same vanilla class. I do love the soft, smooth base notes of Vanille Insensee–it really dries down to something soft, nothing sharp, and for me, lasts 5+ hours on my skin, and even one spritz is plenty! It does have that “aura” scent that others mention too. It’s always there, but not overwhelming at all. Very well-done, simple but pretty, vanilla scent–great for everyday, any season.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

Warm, soft, and a real man magnet. This is a dry vanilla — not especially complex, and easy to wear. My husband who is an avowed fragrance hater loves when I wear this (enough to buy me a full size bottle!). On me, there’s no hint of the citrus notes. The vanilla is more potent on first application, but the dry down is more woody, with a pronounced warmth, as if it is enhancing your own natural scent. It’s the kind of effect that won’t offend anyone at the office but will make a romantic partner want to get close to you; sillage is quite gentle and longevity is moderate. I don’t reach for it in the summer, but I love it for the rest of the year, day or night. I even find myself wearing it to bed. For those who enjoy a bit of gourmand but really want to steer clear of childish, candy perfumes or anything super overwhelming, this is an excellent option, and it comes in a variety of sizes, making it an economical purchase if you’re looking to add to an already large fragrance wardrobe.

  42. :

This is my favorite vanilla. Such a rich, luxurious and creamy scent that lasts for a long time (8+ hrs).
Vanille Insensee is so versatile – any season and day or night. Whenever I’m craving vanilla I always reach for this.
I’ve received compliments and I’ll definitely repurchase in the future. I’d also say this is a safe blind buy from Atelier Cologne’s line. To me it leans on the feminine and sweeter side, but definitely a unisex scent that could be worn by anyone who appreciates an amazing vanilla.

All I smell is vanilla-scented water.

  44. :

I’ve tried this twice and both times, I disliked it. It’s just not for me. I smells like I spilled vanilla extract on myself and then went about carpentry work. I know others have made woody vanilla fragrances, but I think that they were more successful than this.

  45. :

    4 out of 5

I received a sample of this recently, and normally I dislike vanilla scents as they smell cheap, basic, cloyingly sweet..
However this is different, I don’t get any citrus/lime that others have mentioned but just a smokey vanilla. It starts as a realistic vanilla scent with an edge, I can’t put my finger on it yet. Within a few hours it starts to get woodsy and reminds me of sandalwood which I assume is the oak note. It stays close to the skin and I’m actually impressed with how long I can still smell it after 4-5 hours. So overall I’m pleasantly surprised by this fragrance and will probably continue to use it in the colder months to see what happens.
It’s definitely worth taking a whiff if you’re into the “grown up” sweet scents.

  46. :

Vanille Insensee by Atelier Cologne is one of the only three vanilla-centered fragrances that I would consider adding to my collection. The list also includes Salimar EDC and L de Lolita Lempicka (sadly discontinued). Lately, it seems like half the beauty and bath products on the market are laced with vanilla, and I can see why—it is universal, comforting, and not “perfume-y”. On the other hand, if I am going to burn a hole in my wallet and purchase a fragrance, I except something more than vanilla extract. Vanille Insensee reminds me of a vintage perfume that developed for several hours on the skin. The top notes are long gone and only a hint of floral accord remains. What is left is a gently humming benzoin-laden vanilla with a dose of subdued “oakmoss”, a touch of vetiver, and airbrushed musk. That being said, VI is far from vintage with its burnt sugar turned up full blast and the civet strategically omitted. Even the moss accord has been declawed and given a bath.
VI is very approachable, yet it provides the wearer with something more than vanilla scented body lotion. My favorite part is the freshly cut hay accord that is screaming for help under the pile of sugar and moss/musk.

I always liked this scent, having perceived it as a green, lemony, woodsy vanilla.
I haven’t worn it in months, but I had a craving for it today. Well….when I spritzed it on, the main note seemed to be the coriander, which I’ve never really detected in this fragrance before. I’m finding it a little off-putting to be honest. I mean, who wants to smell like coriander?!
I used to love this as an unfussy, casual, comforting perfume…but now, I’m not so sure. This unpleasant coriander note has been playing peek-a-boo all morning.
Perhaps some of you enjoy a coriander note, so here is the more objective portion of my review:
This fragrance has great lasting power – lasts at least 6-7 hours. It’s definitely unisex. Projection is moderate, so this is suitable for the workplace. It’s pricey – whether or not it’s worth the price is up to you.
Hmmm. I used to really love this fragrance…now I’m not sure what to think of it. I will try it again in the fall and see if the cool weather can ice out this damn smelly coriander.

I have tested this a couple of times. The first time I tried (several years ago) it I really liked it, and I thought the citrus cut through the sweet vanilla in a really refreshing way.
However, I tested it again a couple years later (2017), and had quite a different impression. It was rather cloying, the citrus was absent, and it had a woody note that was sharp and assailed my nose with tiny Ginsu knives. Ok, I might be exaggerating a touch. But anyway, test and don’t blind buy, is my recommendation! I don’t know if it’s been reformulated or if my tastes have changed, but I no longer care for this one.

  49. :

I am wearing this perfume right now. Ok, it is not a traditional vanilla, more like an earthy, musky, raw vanilla with a rustic edge. Strangely good for daytime. Not sweet like a candy, more herbal and woodsy. I travel a lot for my job and I always change out different fragrances based on where I am going, what I have to do and just the mood that i want to be in. I have worn this tester (have yet to buy a full bottle) to a spa in Austin TX, a night out in Tulum, Mexico and in the countryside of Kentucky. The scent fit right in with all these locations. The scent is relaxed but focused, earthy yet elegant, a scent that is a woodsy luxury. I like it but still not sure I will buy the big bottle. If I had to pick some more descriptions I would say: Lemon, vanilla, woodsy.

Upon initial application, I really enjoy this. It’s a very dry vanilla scent that reminds me of oak casks. As time goes by though, there is something that turns the oak into mustyness on me, a bit like the smell of an old wood cabinet filled with dust and a hint of mothballs. This overwhelms the fragrance for me and I lose all of the olfactory pleasure it gives me at the start. If this scent does work with your chemistry, I highly recommend it because it is very unique and has good longevity and moderate sillage.

It’s like blowing balloons at a birthday party. Ok, maybe that’s not a very attractive description, but hear me out: it’s somehow very rubbery on me, but also with a hint of sweetness, like a cake in a distance. There’s not much development after the first few minutes. Overall impression: it smells like something a very practical and persistent person would wear, possibly because of the wood, and it also has its sensitive & sensual side, possibly from the vanilla & amber. It’s very interesting, but I’m not sure if I like it

Seeing a lot of reviews kinda all over the place.
Personally I like this quite a bit. However I am biased in that I don’t mind simple scents.
A lot of the more negative reviews seem to think that this smells very dry, and dusty. Well as someone who doesnt like dry and dusty scents(that if anything I feel a lot of the community seems to like so go figure..)I didnt find this to be as such. I have tried this before and thought the oak was a little strong in terms of being “dry” but never enough that I thought this is something i wouldn’t wear.
I would say this is… ALMOST a love for me. But it is kinda on that thin line. If the lime and citrus was a bit stronger, I think this would lean more towards being fun and noveltish and kinda smell like a lime ice cream float. The corriander gives it a bit of a tinge that depending on how my nose feels that day I might think of it as some fizz of a cream soda, and the oak is dry which again if im in the mood might make me think of the foam or cream of the ice cream. The oakmoss also gives it that freshness adding to this. Again making this basically a fresh, citrus sorta vanilla.
Again the citrus notes just arent strong enough to make me automatically assume one way or another, and sometimes I do agree the oak is a little dry with the other notes. But if my nose is in the right mood i can suspend disbelief and tell myself that is what the were going for.
Performance was good from what I tried.
Strong try for me if you like simple vanilla scents.

I was on the hunt for a good spring/summer scent that wasn’t boring or floral. This one is perfect for me. This is what I get: Being in a home with lots of antique oak furniture, hardwood floors, all just spring cleaned top to bottom…open doors and windows covered with white gauzy drapes letting in a cool fresh breeze, relaxing with a big paper back novel (like East of Eden) enjoying a lemony, vanilla powder covered dessert. Lovely!!! The package claims three notes; however, I believe the notes listed here are pretty accurate. This is light enough for warm weather but there’s enough going on to keep me interested.

Dry, powdery, and overwhelmingly masculine on my skin. On another’s person, this smelled like creme brûlée. On me, it’s like I’ve borrowed my husband’s deodorant.
I do not detect vanilla. Disappointed.

It’s good for vanilla lovers, even better for layering as to me it’s very linear and on it’s own smells like air freshener or fabric conditioner, but I can see it layering very well with more complex perfumes.
It is ok, nothing ground-breaking. I don’t think the price is justifiable on this one.
Verdict: overpriced vanila perfume, good for layering

I am very disappointed with this! I smell no Vanilla at all! Its opening is good with the citrus, but then all what I smell is coriander!Really dislike this combination,it’s something in there that is irritating! So upset that I paid so much for it!Rushed buy from my part!

The coldest vanilla I’ve ever smelled, it smells very expensive, not warm and foody. I’m on the fence about a full bottle. A tad masculine, but certainly not overly so, I think it’s the vetiver that gives that impression. I do wish people would stop talking about “all the incense in it.” It has no incense in it. Insensee means “insane” in French, it has two e’s on the end because vanilla is a feminine noun, and that’s all folks. Insane, not incense. Although I don’t think insane fits either. It’s actually very Lady Mary in a duke’s barn putting a leather saddle rubbed with vanilla oil on her horse.

The vanilla in this is just plain gorgeous, edible. But the incense (and it kicks in very, very quickly), holy fireballs, it turns this into a loud, heady alcoholic shot to be slammed at a bar with your best already half drunk friends. I don’t want to wear this, I want to drink it. As a woman, I feel I could only wear this if I was also wearing a pant suit and feeling very feisty. Probably also smoking, something I don’t do anymore. I’d love to smell this on a guy and see what it does but I’ll leave this to braver souls than mine for now!

Holy sh!t this is a silage BOMB! WOW!! WARNING: a few sprays, (3 MAX!) will fill a room for HOURS! If anyone below says this thing does not last there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with their sense of smell! This thing is a beast and longevity is equally up there with silage! I am thoroughly impressed!
Lovely smell, smells like a vanilla pod with some woodsy nuances and a dash of lemon to keep things interesting (and unisex? perhaps!).
Very nice job Atelier, this and Silver Iris are my favorite from the line. Wonderful stuff!

I’m really disappointed with this. I was expecting a lovely vanilla fragrance, but it just reminds me of the type of first perfume you would buy for a little girl from the corner drugstore! Smells very plastic, artificial, sweet powdery with no complexity, no vanilla and very linear. I can’t believe Atelier would be so boring! Good thing I only got a sample and didn’t purchase! Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Extreme is much better!!!

I tried a sample of vanille insensee expecting a simple vanilla fragrance, but was pleasantly surprised. On me, this starts woody and a little spicy, but dries down to a soft vanilla-forward scent that lies close to the skin. You won’t smell like a cookie. It seems that the non-vanilla elements fade relatively quickly, but the vanilla will stay for the whole day. This isn’t going to make it on my shelf, but it is nice.

This smells marvelous! Earlier today I did not think much of it, as I was sampling several perfumes with a fellow Perfumista, and found this initially a bit bland i
