Description

This is a real Italian, masculine fragrance that continuous the tradition of Trussardi, who are known for their leather products. The composition of this perfume is delightful and of high quality, just like Trussardi leather belt or portmone.
Aromatic, masculine notes of lavender, basil and spruce are in the top, and they lead to the heart of the fragrance which is more spicy that floral: note of rose is followed by bay leaf, cinnamon and carnation. The sharp masculine base is made of patchouli, labdanum, Tonka bean and, of course, leather. The perfume was created by Beatrice Piquet in 1983, and the bottle was designed by Nicola Trussardi.

To anyone who is interesting in this scent : Buy a vintage one from 80’s. with a greyhound on a bottle. The company has been sold to some cosmetic chain and present perfume line has nothing in common with original Trussardi. That is the reason that logo was changed, so did perfumes which are totally different today.

Unfortunately it becomes immediately a skin scent.
A pity, since the fragance smells lovely.
    Not for me, though.

both versions are virtually the same, no change in the notes at all 🙂

luxury in a bottle. yes it’s all about leather, pure leather with soft notes of rose, some spicies. a bit dated but in my opinion still wearable nowadays with the right outfit on the right man. i want to underline the word “man”, because it’s very manly, u can feel like the most confident person using this fragrance. the leather is a bit strong but in a pleasant way, u cant resist to smell your wrist again and again. the quality is high, the presentation is classy, and i adore the words on the certicate of authenticity that speaks “welcome to the trussardi’s world”. wow! it’s another style, another way to look at costumers. a good modern alternative can be acqua di parma leather edc, very classy and modern. the bottle i have is a 50ml splash, with “trussardi parfums spa mi” on the bottom of bottle and box. the 2011 version is a nice scent, but the old version has personality and a clear direction. a sophisticated gem from the 80’s. pura eleganza italiana degli anni ottanta!

    my vote: 9
    in one word: leather
ps- do u know if the “selective beauties” version of this fragrance(the reptile bottle, not the 2011 version) is on the same level of the “trussardi parfums spa mi”version? is it worth buying?thank you!
UPDATE JULY 2018: i got a selective beauties alligator tester bottle, so i can keep the very vintage bottle safe. i think ENDYMION is right, i dont detect big differences between the vintage and the s.b. alligator bottle. yes, the vintage has a bit more rounded leather note, but not so much. in the s.b. alligator version i detect also other floral notes more silent in the old version. the spa mi version has the 88% vol. alcohool, instead of the s.b. bottle which has the 79%vol. the smell is for the 95% the same to my unexperted nose, the vintage is bit more refined and some notes in the background are slightly different, but it’s only my humble opinion so feel free to disagree. ciao cari!

Everyone who is dividing perfumes to old or trendy is making it very wrong. I mean, this Trussardi is absolutely gem ( talking of 90’s version ) and therefore I am shure that today many bussiness people can wear this beast successfully.
Perfumes got dated regarding on popularity. Today all Dior Homme collection is dated, Million, Invictus, Cool water or ADG are all dated by todays criticism, because it’s so much of them. Very soon Sauvage will be dated, Chanel Bleu or so.
This one posess such a quality, that I am happy to had owned this one, and still remember that fresh, warm scent, which just make me feel nice. Excellent perfume. (80-90’s) version.

I’m 27 and I love this! I fear to wear it though because it really is a very mature scent and feel like I may appear out of place with this one. Performance on this thing is prefect, long lasting with perfect silage for indoors environment

This is definitely an older scent, wouldn’t recommend it for anyone under 40. Extremely strong sillage and longevity. If you’re using this, it would only be tolerable during winter – not recommended for summer or warm climates. Not sure how people can like this. Leather scents are some of my favorites, but I tend to go more for Tuscan Leather, Ombre Leather, Nabeel, etc. Even aside from smelling dated, another major gripe I have with this is that the leather smells synthetic. Note: I tried the original, not the reformulation.

Tried a sample of this, definitely not for me..the leather is so strong, reminds me of a room with old leather chair/ sofas, there’s leather jacket here, and cigarettes smoke there…typical 80’s scent, don’t get me wrong it’s good fragrance and well blended, and i’m sure work on the other ones, but no for me…….5/10

I believe my bottle is “true vintage” (definitely pre-2000). It reminds me of vintage Leonard Pour Homme, but weaker though smoother. There definitely seems to be some “fresh” aroma chemicals and some lavender here, along with the textural leathery quality. I’ll have to spray more next time to see if more is revealed (just used half a spray to the chest thinking it would very strong).

I must have bought a reformulation. This is very weak. Barely lasts 15 minutes on me. Sprayed myself like crazy repeatedly and can hardly detect anything unless I deeply inhale up close. Where I bought it from does not do returns or exchanges. It came fresh out of anew box. What a waste and dissapointment. I’ll see if I can give it away to my daughter’s roomate maybe it’ll work better on a man’s skin/w.man’s hormones/chemistry.

I think Abercrombie may have been attempting to copy the vintage Uomo (somewhat simply) when they created Woods. This is a scent that women really like on men, but that they don’t often choose.
It opens with the spicy and mossy leather, but overall seems more aromatic. Give it a try if you liked the original Woods.

It’s pleasant. Mine is more flowery than I’d prefer. I get musk & citrus, carnation, bay leaf but not much leather.I notice others say it’s so macho, masculine and leathery.
Actually, I think this would work better on women>
It has a classic smell that a man of the 80’s / early 90’s might wear.
I think a woman might enjoy it on a man, but most men would likely pass over for a more ‘blue’ ‘ocean’ ‘organic’ smell these days.
A lot of staying power. You won’t need much.
Strictly for colder climates, or cold winter nights in warmer climates.

For those who already know Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme but find it retro and simple, they should try the debut men’s perfume from the italian fashion house of Trussardi. Both are basically Leather perfumes and somehow similar, cause they share some common notes ,but Uomo is by far more wearable because the huge Leather note complimented by sweet honey ,flowery Rose and spicy Geranium note which bring to the composition aromatic character.I still have never came across anything else that resembles Trussardi Uomo except this one of VC&A pour Homme. Both are excellent perfumes but Uomo wins in comparison in terms of complexity and projection.
Due to the enormous projection of Uomo someone can be easily noticed by the others round him and can fill a whole room with only 2 or 3 sprays.Although i’m trying to avoid stereotypical phrases like: “this one is for winter” or “this is a summer perfume”, i must admit here that Trussardi Uomo behaves better in the winter and autumn season. So you must be cautious with the application if you want to wear it during the hot months without annoying the others round you. Uomo follows the trend of 80’s perfumerie where scents used to be wild ,with strong character and longlasting Sillage. Among them are also Kouros from YSL,Chanel’s Anteus,Boss#1 ,Oscar de la Renta pour Loui and many other pioneer perfumes of the most significant decade for the perfumerie of wide market.
But the time has changed as well as the fashion trends ,inclusive perfumerie. The new decade has brought together perfumers which emphasize more to the oriental features of an aroma.Typical of this genre are Joop!Homme(1989) and Le Male from Jean Paul Gaultier(mid-90’s) in whose composition vanilla and cinnamon notes are dominant. The new generation of perfumers has tried also to shift the olfactory preferences of the wide crowd from Chypres and Fougeres and focused to aquatics ,mainly through market techniques. As a matter of fact ,several perfumes from the previous decades have been left artistically aside and even more some of them came out of production for a short or long period of time in order to expand the sell of the newcomer perfumes.Among them was unfortunately and Trussardi Uomo ,which is still in nowadays difficult to find at least in my country. The fact that is really hard to be found ,is on the other hand an advantage from my point of view ,because it’s less ordinary and can be easily become a signature perfume because someone with this can be dinstinguished from the crowd. The only drawback is that the huge demand from the biggest funs of Uomo has raised the price drastically.
In today’s market consindered as one of the most significant perfumes of the last decades and is very appreciated by the aficionados of perfumerie.
But for the younger crowd who prefers to wear oriental, spicy and woody compositions and wants in the same time to try something different ,i would recommend to give it at least a try.I’m sure that the majority will love it.But if you prefer perfumes that try (usually unsuccesfuly from my point of view)to resemble marine and aquatic notes ,then stay away from this.
Apart from that i would not embarrassed if i would smell this on a woman, although some of the reviewers find it so aggressive and too masculine to be worn by women.A woman who uses to wear Aldehydic scents or men’s scents with a leathery undertone, could also wear Trussardi Uomo. The olfactory sex-boundaries based mainly upon sociological stereotypes but fortunately the new market-trend in perfumerie has changed drastically the aspect in terms of sex-boundaries.With the appropriate promotion Uomo could be also marketed for women.
Maybe the new reformulated version has chanched dramatically to the worst, according to the other reviewers, but to be honest i have never tried this, because i still have and old bottle from the 90’s which i wear it sparingly only for formal and special occasions.Obviously for market reasons or simply the latest legislation of perfumes ,forced the producer to reformulate the scent.Who really knows!? Independently of the older or the new formula,i see that the new generation can also estimate this gem of perfumerie. With out doubt Uomo reminisences a perfume that can be found more on a mature person but not necessarily older.Yup!,it is a little bit conservative ,but i really can’t see where the problem is.
Uomo is one of the best Leather renditions of all time. Uomo is an enigmatic perfume full of contrasts cause it’s an amagalm of animalic, floral clean(soapy but not it a bathroom way)and spicy notes, altogether artistically-blended by a master of perfumerie, in order to render the rugged and aggressive, yet elegant Leather note without being annoying or pitchy. Uomo stays and it will stay for sure on the list of my top 5 perfumes of all time.

    @Jamie1983
I have seen those bottles on Ebay and maybe it is not a matter of fake stuff … it could be a matter of butcher’s reformulation .
I spent a lot of time searching a FB of the real 80’s version sending messages to vendors in order to verify if the pic matched the shipped item and NO ,many of them used the 80’s box pic and sold the Selective Beauté ( distributor ) bottle ( 2005 ) .
Anyway , today I’ m Happy : I finally found a real bottle of the 80’s : the box shows a bigger animal logo than the one present on the Selective Beauté box
To be more precise , if the size of the animal logo shown on the bottle is the same as the one on the box , it is the 80’s formula .
if the logo on the box looks much smaller like the one on the box shown above in the third pic on the right , it is a more recent version .
No breaking news : if you chase an original formula , always ask if it is a stock photo or the pic of the real perfume/box …

I’ve just got it yesterday from a small store. Bottle still good, but the gold in the trussardi logo and some text has fade away. My mind said, is this original? I try it first by spray it in my hand, opening with fresh flowery and dry down like polo green. What a fantastic scent, I think it’s original. After bargaining, I got it for USD 23 for 100ml. With complete original box, wrap it and take it away, be my vintage collections. So happy with the scent.
I use it today at 08.00 AM, just 3 heavy spray at neck and at back of both ears. and wow…. got 8+ hours of longevity… still a monsteerrr
    What a bless (“,)… hahaha

My first purchase of this beauty dates back to 1991. I was very young at the time! It didnt fit me but I liked it a lot. I returned to it few years ago but still it didnt agree with me yet. Now, over 40 I reached for it again and YES, now its mine. Wonderfull leather with aldehyides, lavender and spices. It has its sharpness not at the start but in the drydown which i totally adore in a fragrance. It is soooo comforting that – although mainly a formal scent – it may stands its ground even on casual occasions when you feel like it. Trussardi at its very best. Not a typical 80’s powerhouse because it has a sophistication and elegance which makes it stand out of that crowd! The style of the late Nicola Trussardi shiningsoooo bright!!!

I got hold of a miniature of this and I am quite impressed. Though many of the 80’s and early 90’s fragrances are too strong for me, I do like this one.
I’ve always wondered about aldehydes. I knew they were popular in older perfumes, but I had no idea what they smelled like. When I smelled the opening of this fragrance, I immediately knew I smelled aldehydes.
The only other ingredient I could pick up by myself without looking at the notes was honey. It’s an interesting scent, but it is NOTHING like the 2011 Uomo. This is much stronger, maybe even a bit too strong for me.

Over 20 year’s ago I bought a bottle of Trussardi Uomo. When Uomo Trussardi 2011 came out I recently tried it in a store. I knew that 2011 was nothing like the original!! I felt that I was mislead the way they used the words…(Trussardi Uomo and Uomo Trussardi 2011). Both bottles were black, the original one had a reptilian pattern vs the 2011 was a smooth black finish with a gold stripe on the side of the bottle.
After trying Uomo Trussardi 2011, my feelings of it not being the same were confirmed. It wasn’t even close to what Trussardi Uomo is….a truly classy men’s cologne.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to find the original Trussardi Uomo. I was relentless and after 6 months of searching where I live without going on-line I was very fortunate to find one which had never been opened so I had to buy it.
When I opened the box and sprayed it on my skin, it felt like I had struck gold. it has a rich aromatic aroma of both caraway and patchouli which gives it a fresh powdery scent. As it dried back the cologne takes on a more spicy scent combined with a woodsy cedar and oakmoss aroma. I’m also able to pick up a bit of leather which gives it a animalistic scent…a real masculine appeal. Trussardi Uomo has such an AMAZING aroma, I can smell the sweet scent of honey and musk mixed with just a hint of rose which all comes together making this cologne a MASTERPIECE.
Uomo Trussardi 2011 is a more lighter cologne which is best suitable during the summer as a day/evening cologne. In my opinion it lacks the rich qualities of Trussardi Uomo.
Trussardi Uomo is undoubtedly a far more sophisticated men’s cologne. When I sprayed it on my chest 2x it stayed well past 8 hour’s. After waking up the next day, I could still smell the cologne as if I had only sprayed it 6 hour’s ago.
It is hard to find a cologne like this which was put together by people who are so passionate about fragrance’s as well as those who bought the high quality fragrance who also understand and can appreciate this cologne like you would a fine wine.
Without a doubt I was so fortunate to find this cologne in a 100ml bottle.
The longevity of this cologne is well past 12 hour’s. The sillage is excellent, you can smell it more then 5ft away.
When I spray Trussardi Uomo on my skin, I’m holding perfection in a bottle….10/10

It’s that kind of rapturous passion, you will not forget for years …Will yield you thousands of compliments! The most refined leather that may exist with something exotic, I could not identify in any way: aldehydes! It’s a shame no longer exists, the 2011 version scares me, notes are totally different! Photo by Lagerfeld has some similarity.
Ma che che bello UOMO che sei !

The three musketteers: Oscar de La Renta – Pour Lui, VCL – Pour Homme and Trussardi Uomo. Obviously the VCL tends to be more classic, and Pour Lui more popular, leaving Uomo inbetween. Three classics, I have all of them, a must have. Compliments garanteed.

maybe i’m just a bozo, but this is one of the first scents i’ve ever tested that i couldn’t wait to wash off me. the initial notes were swirling with powder that i really didn’t like. that calmed down fairly quickly, but what’s left is a very chemical-y mix of aldehydes and odd-rose. maybe my decant came from a bad bottle? alternatively, i do remember scents from the early 1980s that had this sort of vibe to them (and never much liked them back then). absolutely not for me. i originally picked it up ‘cuz i wanted to sample more leather-y scents – but i don’t get much leather from this – and what i do get sorta smells like “fake leather” more than rich, quality leather. my tuppence fwiw.

Pleasure and Comfort this is what TRUSSARDI UOMO is all about, the best from the Trussardi till date. Evergreen sort of perfume simply a great masculine fragrance, very unique and very classy! It starts with a strong leather notes that are quite animalic then it gradually evolves into soft musky powdery fragrance. Elegant Bottle. It is highly appreciated fragrance with decent projection and longevity. Comparable to another legendary perfume Aramis 900.
    I give it 8.5 out of 10.

MACHO!!! Trussardi Uomo starts off with a nasty nail polish and powder accord, but give it some time and it mellows into a great mossy leather scent.
This is almost a pure leather fragrance, with touches of patchouli and oakmoss to add extra testosterone. Supposedly the current formulation is a lot less powerful than the current version I have, but who gives a damn? This current version is excellent!

    Hello,
To me it’s THE leather scent! So classy and distinguished a fragrance, to say the least, so characteristic that one is unlikely to take it for any other. Definitely NOT suitable for a pimpled youngster in a t-shirt and trainers… I associate it with a meticulously appareled gentleman of at least 40 (expensive classical-design leather shoes, croc-pattern strap and wallet, leather strap wrist-watch, etc.) I will never part with this jewel though it’s ages since I first sniffed it back in the 90’s. Can’t think of any manufacturer making such type of scent at the moment…

I got it for my husband and now I don`t know what to think…It smelled divine on a person I asked about this scent – but now, when I smell it out of the bottle, it seems way too strong – tar and some machine shop comes to mind – tools, leather belts, oily details….I feel leather for sure, then of course vetiver (hard to miss),lavender like lavender leaves and some rubbery notes I can`t identify – is it bay leaf that`s tricking me?
I am a bit hesitant to put it on my own skin, but I will write more after trying it on my husband.
One more thing – when my husband was wearing it, I caught myself several times smelling Salvador Dali for women (black lips). It took me a while to realize it`s Trussardi!!!!!!!
BTW, the bottle is divine. It feels great,I like the feel of textured leather and the significant weight in my hand.
