This genre has been done to death. This would be a great introduction to a person getting started in the fragrance game. I find nothing special here at all. Nice presentation though but presentation doesn’t help it’s generic smell. Sorry definitely a no go for me

The illegitimate offspring of D&G The One and Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. However, instead of a seamless blend of the two this almost seems like they are having a battle royale. A little sweet, a little spicy and very powdery on my skin. Also, I wish there was more pineapple because I can’t really detect any and that would have made it more unique. Its not that this scent isn’t pleasant, but I will take either of the aforementioned over this any day. (6/10)
Oh btw the presentation is an 11/10. Best I have seen besides By Kilian.
Scent: 6.5/10

One of my favorite colognes and my signature scent. I agree with others that if this showed up as the hot new scent from Dior or Creed it would be in everyone’s must have list. Although the name implies a tropical vibe it’s FAR from your average Nautica, Cool Water, Light Blue or suntan lotion scent. Even the awesome Virgin Island Water with it’s perfect lime and coconut is nothing like this. This is a powerhouse scent with a rum and pineapple combo with some incredible spices that give it it’s great smell. Long lasting and at least on me doesn’t change hardly at all on the dry down.
I stated in another review that if Jack Sparrow had a signature scent it would be Dark Rebel from John Varvatos. Treasure Island would be Will Turner’s scent, slightly more refined with fruit instead of smoke but still having all the pirate qualities. Also it comes with a sweet barrel for storage with a detailed touch that you don’t see anymore.

I agree with @Puck, does smell similar to D&G the One. Nothing wrong with that though.

Seems like some mixed reviews on this one. If this were a Dior scent, it would have more fanboys than any other fragrance known to man. A little rum, a little spice and a little pineapple. Honestly – this is fantastic. The price + the smell – 10’s all day. The presentation is great and the quality is great. How this has stayed unknown for so long, I haven’t a clue.
Week 2 edit:
I’ve spent nearly two weeks with this. I can definitely say that I smell most of the notes listed – specifically pineapple and rum. When I spray this – I has a familiar smell – like a really good designer scent – but there’s something that lies in the background that separates this. I cannot determine the note. In terms of one of the reviewers saying this isn’t a safe blind buy – I respectfully disagree. I would posit that this is one of the safest blind buys for a guy – while you may not find it as great as I do, I’d have trouble believing someone would dislike this scent – not to mention, it’s $60. It’s an EDT, so projection and longevity aren’t awesome, but this has quickly become one of my favorites. The presentation is thoughtful and doesn’t feel cheap at all. Grab a bottle.

Sampled this the other day and found it entirely unremarkable. It was featured a few days later in our local newspaper as a “Father’s Day Scent” option and some of the notes were listed too. Well, this prompted me to look it up on here. If I hadn’t sampled this in-store and found it just plain… banal, and entirely uninspiring, based solely upon the listed notes alone, I’d surely blind-buy this in a heartbeat!! However, be forewarned: DO NOT DO THIS!!! Please sample it first. If you think it’s out-of-this-world, fantastic! More power to you! Obviously, you’re smelling something I’m missing; the notes perhaps.

I get mostly booze and a tiny bit of spice. That’s it. I can not distinguish the scent from my own skin. But its apparently strong to the ppl around me.They say it smells like rum.

I can’t say I really care for this. I wish I could put my finger on what it is exactly I’m smelling here and describe it for you but I can’t figure it out. It’s kinda like a bad batch of old popuri on me. It smells interesting under the cork cap or in the air but the four or five times I sprayed it on myself I had to wash it off. I couldn’t stand it after a while. Out of all the edt’s I own this is the only one I felt the need to wash off each and every time. It’s a shame because I really wanted to like this. The notes look good, the bottle is cool, and so is the little real barrel it comes in. I wish I had been able to test this before I forked out $40.00 for this 1 oz. bottle though. I’m sure I wouldn’t have bought it.

Not much out there about this so I want to give my impressions. To me this is a rich, uniquely smelling tropical scent. I get boozy spiced rum, smoky pineapples & melons, wet sweet smelling wood, and eastern spices. Makes me think of: An old sailing ship transporting oak casks of aged spiced rum and pineapples… Everyone gets a little crazy with the rum and accidentally spills one of the casks… I meander over and smell inside the cask. Mmmmm
Smell: 5/5- I really love it. Longevity: 5/5- I consistently wake up smelling like this the next morning after apllying it the evening before, though it completely transforms into dry woods by morning. Sillage: 5/5- Two sprays and that’s it! Versatility: 2/5- mostly great for breezy (cooler) summer days & nights, outdoor parties, etc. Would be cloying for me on a very hot day.

In the opening, the scent seems citric and slightly aquatic. It’s a very different scent. In the middle, it’s warm and a very sweet smelling scent. It’s a little less sweet than D&G’s The One, but somewhat similar to that scent. It wasn’t the musky, overpowering, generic scent I was expecting. I wouldn’t call this a signature frag, but something different to try. For me 8/10! Cheers!
