Description

Although the Italians have taken the fame, the cappuccino was actually invented by the Austrian – specifically Viennese – baristas in the 18th century. The term derived from the Latin “caputium” was changed to “Kapuziner” (small hood in German) – part of the dress worn by a branch of the Franciscan order and that had the same reddish brown color resulting from the mix of coffee and milk covered with a thin layer of foam and sparks of
spices and chocolate powder. Tonkaccino is an olfactory interpretation of the traditional hot beverage that brings the full-bodied note of patchouli as well as a soft lavender-tonka accord to convey the same comfort of an elegant hood that protects us against the cold and wind on a cold night.

Tonkaccino by Daniel Barros is a Oriental Spicy fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Tonkaccino was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Daniel Barros. Top notes are black currant, lavender, cardamom and coriander; middle notes are coffee, milk, cinnamon and patchouli; base notes are tonka bean, almond, cacao, sugar and musk.

Delicious like an expresso with cream . These area the main notes I can feel on my skin during all the evolution of this pleasant perfume. Not as good performance comparing to Yzucello or Rosa Libre it stayed on me for 3-4 hours after that only the almonded musky scent.Better for rainy days, low temperature.

Leaving Chocofrap Tonkaccino to evaluate in the end was a deliberate choice on my part. Both are members of the collection as well as lavender chai that do not represent the core exploration of alcoholic drinks and beverages. Moreover, they are in the midway of gourmands territories, with ideas that usually receive a heavy dose of sugar and here come with more maturity, texture and complexity in their interpretations.
Tonkaccino has elements that could take you into a non-floral and sweet version of a modern chypre, but the way the aromas are juxtaposed is made to highlight the contrasts in a cappucino. The drink here is represented by its lactone side, the warm and cozy spicy, the sweet aspect of chocolate powder and the roasted and dry aspect of coffee.
The first impression one gets is just a crisp and dark aroma of coffee, one of my favorite smells and which easily gets lost in perfumes with coffee because of gourmand notes. Here it preserves and ends up making a fusion through evolution with drier smell of amber woods that are in the background. But at first it is very intense and clear, mixing right away with a contrast of hot and fresh spices due to the use of cinnamon and cardamom. As Tonkaccino evolves, you can see the side more sweet and caramel nuances in composition, ending finally in a chypre musky base that does not become too sweet because the ambery woods pull the center of gravity of the aroma in a more dry direction.
Tonkaccino is perhaps the one that seems more literal in its execution at first, becoming more abstract as it evolves on the skin. It is not necessarily one that you love since you try all members of the collection, but the appreciation for it grows over time.

I think this one is great. If you are looking for a fragrance that will make you think of coffee this is easily in my top 3 of all time (Id say the others would be still of course barista, and intoxicated) in all my years in fragrances that you will instantly think of that word. Its got that great sorta tingle to the nose from the roast that is warm and inviting and potentially even invigorating just like coffee. Sure there are other good “coffee” scents like new harleem, rochas man, pure tonka, but those my first thought is not coffee. This is.
I suppose you could say the best thing about this is probably also the potentially worst. It might be so well named that it might be novelty for some. So if you dont love the aroma of coffee this probably isnt interesting enough to warrant checking out.
Its pretty linear and doesnt change much till maybe hours and hours later where its slightly more gourmandish and tasty but really for the most part theres not a lot of surprises.
Performance was good. And although not a beast in projection, I could easily still smell it on me the next day.
Still not my holy grail coffee scent as I still want something that reminds me of walking into dunkin donuts, I know someone out there can do it, coffee and that mix of donuts in the air I need it! But for now, ya this is a definite if you want a fragrance that will instantly make you think of coffee.
