Nice fragrance for reliving the 90s!
I found half a bottle in my childhood home stashed away from my high school days. The original formula I found, left over from probably 1998, smells different from newer versions. I know they still sell this today… my ’98 bottle has a yellowish tint to the juice while a newer bottle I own (maybe 2004ish) shows crystal clear juice. The ’98 bottle smells the way I remember it. I don’t think its gone bad or morphed into a different fragrance. I got rid of the newer bottle, it wasn’t as good as the old one and the old one isn’t really all that special. It’s a fine scent today, I keep it in my car and spray it into the blowing air of the A/C once in a while so it can gently mist my clothes and vehicle interior. My kid likes the smell and always says it reminds her of something but shes not sure what. (I’m pretty sure it reminds her of my car at this point). It reminds me of skateboarding, being sweaty, school dances, and hair gel.
An invigorating, citrusy fresh scent all its own. A bit green. I would recognize it on someone else if I smelled it. I remember when I replaced it as my spring/summer pick with D&G Masculine; a much more mature, refined, luxurious citrus that I wish I had accidentally left in my old house…. but the Tommy is nostalgic for sure. Melrose Place vibe. Chandler from Friends prob sprayed this on the weekends. Loose fit acid wash jeans, leather belt, white tee shirt, wire rimmed sunglasses, American flag, trees, lemon leaves, a little pepper, some moss or seaweed or something…….thats what I get. The 90s version is decent, but at this point I’m going for something higher end.

This is very nostalgic for me; I didn’t wear this when it was popular because everyone was wearing it including my Older Brother who i pinched some of his bottle of this at times before school.
The more I smell this in my older age the more I appreciate what it does that many designers are trying to replicate what this fragrance did.
This is easy as hell to wear, it lingers with a nice scent trail and still to this day doesn’t really smell like a lot of other fragrances; oh did i mention that Women still enjoy it?
It’s price is superb, it’s longevity for a super citrus / fresh fragrance isn’t bad at all and did I mention that Women like it?
This isn’t for everyone but it is for a lot of people.
If you are looking to get a solid fragrance and you don’t have a lot of cash or just don’t want to invest time into learning about the do’s/don’ts then this is a great fragrance for your collection.
It’s still signature scent worthy imo because of how likable it is and also it’s very versatile, probably not the best formal scent (could be though?) but outside of that it’s just done in a very enjoyable and youthful way that is fun and energetic and it’s still memorable.
If you hate all of the new bleu/fresh/showger gel like Fragrances, then I would say pick this up.
It does get compliments and sometimes really outrageous reactions.

This one means so much to me and reminds me of one of the best years of my life (2018). I’m gonna buy another bottle so I can have another great year! I wear this in school, it’s a great casual scent to be around the boys just chilling. The smell is kind, loving and fun.
(I’m 18 and live in London for context!)
    Longevity – 5/10
    Projection – 5/10

Unfortunately it’s been reformulated to death over the years. A shell of its former self. I bought a vintage bottle (look for Made in Switzerland) online and it’s amazing. Pure 90s and a beast. Bring me back. Abercrombie pants and my first girlfriend. Fresh cut lawns, video games, and your best friends. My favorite of all time.

It has that preppy 90s white T-shirt vibe to it. Reminds me of Hugo Boss but not as sharp.

There are few fragrances which never smell outdated or boring. This one is surely one of them. This Is an old fragrance and still smells great and and also liked by women a lot. Just one reaction you get ‘NICEEEE’.

If you wore this one in High School you were considered a cool kid. I can see it now, A BRAND NEW Tommy Hilfiger polo with distressed jeans and tennis shoes to match. A Spring Day on campus. Eighty degree weather with winds that brush the scent of zest-fully clean soap, and green apple jolly ranchers, off of your neck into a crowd of young ladies. You look back just to watch them all swoon. That’s what this fragrance was all about…. Being TIMELESS… I’ve still got a bottle almost 20 years later.

This one is so good for what you pay (ONLINE PRICES ONLY) , Sweet (just a little) , Citric, sour (Just a bit from the green apple) and masculine.
Give it a try on this classic fragrance.
Performance its good , dont have many complaints.

Welcome all, this is my first review here but I’ve been spending a lot of time on here just reading.
I’ve tried so many fragrances this year looking for ones that I can relate to and this after so many duds even from Dior and Chanel is my no.1 summer choice. So fresh without being citrussy and at last one that actually lasts more than half an hour.
I love how clean and vegetal this is, quite linear but stays fresh, bright and watery all the way through. In particular I love the slightly sour green note in the background which i’m guessing is the cactus.
Thank god this ones a bit different. No pepper for a start. It’s thirst quenching if you know what I mean.
25 years old (the fragrance!) but not dated, this is the one I wear during the day more than the others and can be used liberally.

Wow. How may i describe this. I’am a 90’s kid. I grew up watched ‘Home Alone’, Mr. Bean, Titanic and used to sing along Backstreet Boys songs. Whenever i spritz this, it evokes all those beautiful memories. Make me feel as a no-worry-kid again haha. I drink this almost everyday as my to go, office even at night. I love so much the soft whiff on my skin and shirt. Very nostalgic. I’ll never get enough of this.

Can’t speak bad about this fragrance.
I see myself wearing this fragrance all year…during the day only though.
My girlfriend bury her face in my chest…That’s a win in my books.
    Smells good, under $25 & it’s a crowd pleaser.
The grapefruit, cranberry, granny smith apple, bergamot combo won me over…Lovely.
I used six sprays…both wrist, back & front of my neck, my chest and on my shirt.
    Would I buy this again?…Yeah!

I just picked up a 100ml bottle off eBay for about 10€!
It instantly transports me back to the 90’s when I was a teenager and wore this juice.
Its not the best fragrance out there, and could potentially be described as harsh but I really do love this fragrance. I’m not sure how much of that is just nostalgia, but either way, it’s working for me!!! (Let’s see what my wife thinks though, haha)

Tommy is a lovely scent suitable nearly all year round, consisting of a great blend between sweet and fresh. For its price mark, it is definitely worth a pick up. Fantastic longevity with sillage noticable enough to receive compliments. It shines with versatility, appealling to all ages. A girlfriend of mine at the time described this as “heaven”.

Freshy, spicy, has an aftershave vibe and overall a very ‘American’ perfume. This is a great ‘out from the shower’ fragrance and can be worn during the day comfortably. I got this as a gift and I’m glad I did, Tommy is a very classic male perfume, that I am probably going to buy again. Lasts for about 6 hours in the Indian subcontinent and also you can go easy on the trigger with this one, 4 to 6 sprays will do just fine. I see a fit, young and cheerful man (<30) wearing this at a summertime barbecue or whatever. This is also good for college or the office. A good day to day fragrance, probably in the same category as another one of my favorites which is Azzaro Chrome.

Great classic scent, purchased this one many years ago, circa 1998. Wasn’t ever my favorite scent but very quality and nice for a change.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

One of the first fragrances I ever owned, given to me by my parents 4 years ago.
It is still a nice smelling product that is perfect for almost any occasion.
I will say compared to other things I’ve smelled, it is not anything too special. I’ve always seen it as quite a generic men’s fragrance that most people wouldn’t think twice about if they took in a breath standing next to you, but perhaps this is why it’s the best perfume for keeping a fresh scent without breaking the bank or even wasting your top quality bottle on a small trip to your local bar, saving it for a more important occasion.
Overall I would give this product a 6/10, a pretty low score, however, the reason it isn’t a 7 is due to it’s short lifespan after being sprayed and also the fact that the scent can get quite sickly when it’s used too often, which I suppose could apply to most fragrances, but out if all of them this one stood out the most for this sort of thing.

Ubiquitous it was. Amazing it was. Now that it’s no longer omnipresent, those of us that were “there” can probably appreciate its goodness even more now.
I bought a brand new one-ounce bottle of this today when I saw it on clearance at a drugstore that is being remodeled. Tommy smells exactly like I remember, with the unique blend of apple, mint, and bluegrass. If it’s been reformulated my nose certainly can’t tell.
What a classic, go-anywhere, timeless fragrance; and the best part is that it is relatively inexpensive. Unless you can’t stand one or more of the notes listed above, this more than deserves a place in your fragrance arsenal.

    Happy 4th of July
Red White & Blue Tommy Hilfiger
Aramis owned this fragrance in 1994 when it was first released but today the reformulation belongs to the house of Estee Lauder if I’m not mistaken. In the mid 90’s it was all over the place; was the shopping mall favorite of most high school teens, a cologne that became associated with the all American conservative ‘preppy’ look. I must say that I was not a fan of this cologne at the time. It was too ‘youthful’ for me, too fruity, too fresh, hardly my kind of masculine earthy woodsy greenish scent. This frag is still for the young guy with like a Don’t Worry Be Happy logo T shirt and jeans. It has been a long time but now I ‘get it’. Nostalgic as I am for all things 80s and 90s this cologne is welcomed in my collection. Truth be told, as cheap as it is, it’s a feel-good casual, enjoyably pleasant smell, clean, sweet and unisex by today’s standards. This is now a piece of Americana. Put this baby in a time capsule for posterity in the distant future that they may know what American youth smelled like in the 90s. The Persian Gulf War. The OJ Simpson trial. President Bill Clinton. Hillary Clinton. Learning how to use the internet. Dial up. America Online. Windows 95. Flying toaster screensavers. FRIENDS on TV. Seinfeld. Dawson’s Creek. Boy Band groups like NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. Long summers. The 90’s in a bottle.
The fragrance is supposed to represent a journey across America: An opening wet aquatic note of rain from any state where it rains, citruses from California and Florida, lavender from from Nevada, driftwood from North Carolina, Cactus flower from Arizona, bluegrass from Kentucky, yellow rose of Texas, spearmint from New Mexico, red maple from Vermont, cottonwood from Wyoming, not to mention the ‘gourmand’ scents from the Thanksgiving table a la Norman Rockwell paintings – cranberry and apple pie. In addition to these American aroma chemicals, there is the usual dry notes of musk amber and woods (spruce oak cedar) but missing are the heavier more classic masculine ingredients of tobacco and heavier woods and moss.
Opens with a fresh wet note bordering on the aquatic with a lavender rain or lavender soap, and equal parts grapefruit, mint, lemon and oranges. For me this part of the scent is alright, nothing crazy or artificial as it later becomes. A standard citrus. Smells great after a shower and right before you head out in shirt and jeans in the warmer/hotter months in summer. A refreshing and zesty opening. As the citruses subside, the fantasy notes develop. Cranberry juice, somewhat cold, fruity and like red berries, tart, sweet, with a little rose note tucked in there as well. The rose note is perfectly paired with another member of her family the apple. This smells of a Granny Smith apple after the citrus trails off. A very pleasant green apple shampoo scent. And what can be more American than apple pie?
Finally in the dry down it’s very hard to figure out what’s going on but I detect what today they call notes of cashmere wood (smells of a cotton vest or cashmere sweater in keeping with the preppy look) amber a degree of musk and one small herbal note which might be the cactus. It’s not a long lasting scent. On me it doesn’t last longer than 3-4 maybe 5 hours at most, and not always. Sometimes it wears like a body mist on me and it doesn’t even last 3 hours. This is cheaply made and it shows. It was not meant to win a FIFI or anything like that. Just a simple easy to wear daily scent of fruit. Not bad if you like fruit notes and you’re nostalgic for scents of summer and youth. Today I’m wearing it for my old friends who have been my friends since the 90s so this is for all of us on our country’s independence day while we party and eat hot dogs. This is a very nice cologne that is still selling because it was the best commercial success in fragrance of the 90s. Got to respect that. I remember a time when everyone in school wanted to sport Tommy Hilfiger jeans and fashions because you couldn’t get any more high end than that unless it was you know Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren. Like I said the 90’s in a bottle.
    Happy 4th my fellow Americans

Back in the day it was the go to fragrance, but now I don’t see myself reaching for it too often. I bought a bottle a couple of years ago to experience the nostalgia of the 90’s again. Alas, two years on I still have half a bottle left.
It’s a good scent, longevity is not there for me, seems to disappear after a couple of hours.
I don’t believe it’s dated, you like a scent you like a scent, like music, it doesn’t date. Your tastes may however change and I prefer a more masculine scent.
It’s relative cheap and if you’ve not experienced it, and looking for a youthful scent, I think its worth a blind purchase.

This is one of the first classic mall scents in time!! Lol for me its too young and not pleasing on me!! It still smells good, but i guess you can say i evolved a bit to never think of a situation to ever wear this! R.i.p tommy!!

Oh man, I thought they stopped selling this stuff. found a oz for 12 bucks. This brings me back to my first girlfriend as a 14 year old. In my 30s now. Its not mind blowing by any means nowadays, to me still smells good. I’m gonna wear this tomorrow. For those that know this is a CLASSIC for sure.

Decent. Smells like every 20 year old guy at the club in 1998. Clean laundry smell. Green, soapy, musky. Current formulation lacks the smoothness of the original. My girlfriend back in the day said it made her horny. Original formulation was more citrus aquatic. If you have a Hilfiger t shirt throw this on and then get laughed at

  26. :

Very Fresh, aquatic, good quality pleasant out of the shower smell that makes you feel clean and good about yourself!
Like a classic ‘pop’ song that’s maybe not high art or critically acclaimed, but is great in its own right and will have you singing along!
Has very fond memories for me and is one of the best value scents out there.
A Pop Classic then. If you are a fragrance snob you may hate it, but for everyone else it’s just a feel good classic!

I just smelled this on a guy on the subway and I just love it. He came in and when the doors opened and the wind blew and he came in it sent a whiff to me and it immediately caught my attention. He sat across from me but I couldn’t smell it anymore until I got up to get off and asked him what fragrance it was. I thought he didn’t want to tell me the name because he said “Tommy” and that it was old. I assumed he just said Tommy as an abbreviation for the brand Tommy Hilfiger. I just had to find out what it was. It smells so good to me, I don’t know why. And I don’t care that it’s old. I was/am wearing Bvlgari White Tea and that was launched 1992, and I was born 97.

After the subpar experiences I’ve had with Tommy Girl, I didn’t expect to feel so fondly toward the original. It’s great. Interesting melding of elements, flirty and sporty, with a finely understated nature and solid longevity. I just wish I didn’t potentially feel like a sweaty, nineteen-year-old rugby player for liking it.

  32. :

So this was the Abercrombie Fierce of its day and just because everyone including me wore this back then makes it by no means a teenager scent. This is just so good! If it just hit the market today it would still be a smash hit. This was my junior and senior year in high school scent, now I’m 37 and picked up a bottle the other day and damn it’s better than I even remember, even after my nose has moved on to niche. I’ll continue to have this in my rotation for a long time. Fresh, clean, green, dryer sheet, soapy, and slightly aquatic done sooo well! 9/10

  33. :

Tommy is a classic 90’s brand that I was too young to appreciate and by the time I was old enough for fragrances, it was Axe and Old Spice bodyspray that was marketed to teenagers. I tried Tommy as a 29 year old after actually like TH Bold but I don’t see the magic. It isn’t the mint since I do like it in other scents namely Drakar Essence and Cool Water Night Dive. Maybe I am too old for it, maybe the mint isn’t offset enough by an aquatic scent (like in the other minty scents I mentioned) but rather by light fruit or maybe I am wasn’t the target demo for it otherwise. I may never know the truth BUT all that I do know is it is one that I tested but will not get.

This fragrance used to be everywhere, like CK One in its heyday. Sadly, it doesn’t stand up anymore. Alberto Morillas went on to make much better fresh scents – his two for Lanvin are among the best in the genre, for example. And if you consider that Tommy was never as good as its predecessors – the aforementioned CK One, as well as L’eau D’Issey – then Tommy’s raison d’etre is called seriously in question.
I only tried Tommy again because somebody here compared it to my favourite scent, New West. All I can say to that is: What an absolute muppet. The scents are nothing alike. Tommy is a generic, sour-apple take on freshness, with obligatory faux-oceanic and clean laundry notes. New West, by contrast, is a bracingly refreshing, salty sea breeze rolling over a tinder-dry forest at dawn. I know which I prefer.
Yes, Tommy can be a nice nostalgia trip, but for those who didn’t wear it the first time around – well, don’t bother.

Man, this one takes me back…
I’m 16 years old and I just earned my drivers license. I’m young, newly in love, and I hop behind the wheel of my first car. It was a piece of garbage, but I felt like the king of the world whenever I drove it. We’d spend countless warm summer nights cruising Williamson Road and hanging out with our friends in the parking lot of blockbuster video.
I don’t know or care about the notes of this fragrance, but even after all these years, I still know it intimately.

The mint is dominant and very fresh and get alot of compliments and great think about this perfume is it doesn’t offend others. Togther with aqua eternity and Hugo boss sport this is must have one in my shelf.
Plus this perfume reminds me back in great decade of high school in 90s with friends so its kind of spiritual.
    Smell 10/10
    Longevity 9/10
    My overall rating 9/10
    And price is great.

Continuing the trend of buying fragrances that I previously owned years ago, my latest purchase was Tommy.
It is exactly how I remember it, which hasn’t always been the case. It’s fresh, clean and very inoffensive. I wear something everywhere I go, be that supermarket shopping or a doctor’s appointment and I would gladly wear this to the doctor’s surgery.
Of course, this scent has had its day but it’s still around, still smells good and isn’t expensive.

I first smelled this in 1999. For those who grew up in the 80s and 90s like me, you’ll remember and enjoy this one.
Imagine: Driving around the suburbs on a late spring evening with the guys. The windows are open and a cool, fresh breeze hits your face. You just got your driver’s licence and the warm weather brings the promise of the school holidays. The thought of a particular girl brings on a smile as you reminisce about your time together.
Your slightly baggy jeans just came out of the wash and the aroma mixes with the fresh spiciness of the outdoors. This will be a time to remember.
Think: Clean, Spicy, Nostalgic, Warm, Pleasant
    Overall: 9/10 in my book

  42. :

    5 out of 5

I’ll admit, I “love” this fragrance for the nostalgia factor more than anything. I would wear this in high school when I wanted to feel good about myself, it just gave me confidence back then, as much as a fragrance really could. It’s just a nice, clean scent, where “fresh spicy” really sums things up. It’s not soapy and not powdery, just fresh. Yea, maybe it’s a bit too immature, and yea, it’s synthetic and doesn’t last that long on my skin…but it brings back good memories for me.
It’s a nice, versatile, fresh scent that can be worn casually in the Summer. This one will be in my collection for a very long time.

December 1995. This was all 10 year old me wanted for Christmas that year. I remember my mom pulled the trick where you tape the box to the inside of a larger box to throw off potential shakers/peekers/guessers 😉
THIS was what all the cooler older kids in grade 6 smelled like. The ones who were always hanging out with all the girls. SOON THAT POWER WOULD BE MINE. MUAHAHA.
    Fast forward 20 years…
30 year old me, burdened with the realities of adult life, far removed from the carefree days of a 10 year old. I buy a bottle on sale based solely on an aching desire for a reminder of those times.
    Yup, this is it.
At the risk of sounding a little off-base, this makes me feel like I’m in grade 4 again. Drove through the old neighborhood while wearing this and I swear to god those weren’t tears, it’s testosterone leaking from my eyeballs.
For lack of a better way of putting it, for me, this is adolescence and prepubescent angst, bottled. And I fucking love it.
I probably put myself on some sort of list writing this review, but it is what it is.
This is a clean scent. If over-applied you’re welcoming an almost certain headache. That being said, applied moderately, it’s nice.
Not what I throw on to go and try to attract female attention, but it’s nice to splash on to go about your business. I imagine the olfactory intuition of 10 year old girls might be lacking in comparison to 30 year old women anyway.
When life has me by the balls I wear this and go back to a time when my biggest concern was whether or not I should ask a girl on a date and what mom had cooked for dinner.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

I never owned this scent but trust me I smelled it through the time I worked at a high school back in 1995 through 1998. It was everywhere and though it smelled very young to me it was pleasant. I always associated it with more of a citrus freshness and see now that maybe this was the apple. Teenage girls would wear this as well and maybe it was one of the first unisex fragrances but middle America may not of been ready for that label.
I believe it was a game changer. More knowledgeable folks than me would possibly know. I do not recall citrus freshness being used as much until this era. Consider the time line: L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme in 1994, Tommy in 1995 and Aqua di Gio in 1996… to my memory these scents ushered in a paradigm shift or dividing line of what was before and what was to come.

It’s old but it smells pretty good. My father has used it as long as I can remember, which makes sense because it was launched in 1995 – my birth year.
My sister uses it now too and she loves it – not that this is feminine, she just likes to wear men’s fragrances. Tommy was the first scent I used, in 2009 when my dad gave me 1/3rd of a bottle to try out as I began high school.
I liked it then, even though it got me no attention or compliments from other teenagers- makes sense it’s very 90’s. But later I asked for a full bottle and received the True Star Men flanker launched in 2005 instead. I didn’t like it at all, it smelled like metal and methanol with a synthetic sweetness but people told me I smelled fresh with it.
Anyway, I haven’t tried Tommy again since that time when I was 13 and definitely too young for it. It’s probably more suited for people aged 17 to 30ish. Even so, I notice my father is still using tommy every time I visit him and it smells super clean, casual, and relaxing. Radiates nicely on summer days.
I’d try to use it again but I feel it would ruin the sense of nostalgia it gives me.
Smells great, like summer. Kind of smells like other popular, somewhat standard, similar scents but with just enough depth to stand out and be comparitively distinctive.
8.5/10 good, with a great pricetag

It’s classic for a reason. A Very fresh summer scent. Would recommend it to pretty much anybody.
A lady in my work bought me this (I sit opposite her) and she loves when I wear it, reminds her of the carefree days in the 90’s allegedly 🙂
I’m not so fond of the flankers but this one is a real winner.
    Thumbs up

Wow, this stuff is great! Interesting story about Tommy cologne: I tested this years ago at Kohls, but the bottle was rancid or something so I thought this was an awful cologne lol. Years later I decided to give it another try at Target, and realized how great this stuff actually is. Clean and fresh, but spicy. Best I can describe it is that is smells like clean soap layered over warm apple pie and spices. May sound weird lol, but trust me guys, this is a winner.

This particular fragrance is such a 90’s fragrance. Hard to say something is as such, especially for a fragrance, but this was the definitive one for the mid-90’s.
The Preppy boy style, Tommy Hilfiger with his bright clothes, pushed by wearers from the prep’s to the urban with hip hop artists wearing the baggier versions.
The fragrance I think, is more appreciated by those who remember it at that time, I know I do.
It’s Fresh, clean, not so light that you have to be near someone to smell it.
Definitely something to wear during the Spring towards Summer time. You just get this picture of cleanliness when wearing this.
It was great back then and can definitely still be worn today. I don’t see this as something that has gotten played out by any measure.
And another thing, it’s more of a casual fragrance to me, not something to wear with a suit, more jeans and a t-shirt type of setting.

I don’t think I fit the demographic of this fragrance, or it’s stereotypical wearer: High School or Frat Boy, East Coast Preppy, in the realm of Ralph Lauren. But I must admit, if used sparingly, I still love this fragrance.
When I used to sell it, the fragrance models shared a few unexpected components:
    Calone / Melon
    Cactus
    Apple pie
    Granny smith apple
    Hints of Cinnamon
    Citrus
Yes, everyone and their dog has this fragrance, but I wouldn’t mind scenting my towels or sock drawer with it. It’s quite strong and long lasting, definitely a crowd pleaser, but too common now to be a signature fragrance.

For an American fashion company that exploded commercially across the gamut of American socioeconomic and racial lines in the 1990’s and owed everything to Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren for paving the way in the 1980’s, their first utterly commercial foray into the world of men’s fragrance was a massive success and impressive standard that has never been eclipsed by the Hilfiger team 20 years to the day. What started as an ambitious statement to announce Tommy Hilfiger’s line of jeans and clothing had transformed into a massive nationwide boutique in the vein of the aforementioned giants of American men’s fashion by stepping into the stratus of high-profit margin accessory products to round-out the space in their mall boutiques ended in this stellar commercial success by Alberto Morillas and Annie Buzantian.
