I stumbled across this fragrance here on Fragrantica and just loved the note breakdown. Tobacco and Cognac, what is NOT to love, right? So I found the web site for the House of Cherry Bomb and purchased a sample set. I was excited to explore them when they finally arrived. TC was the very first one I tested.
TC opens very much like a generic hand soap on my skin. I get a heavy floral vibe, even though there are no floral notes listed. Perhaps the combination of the honey and ambergris? I went back to check the sample’s label to make sure it was not tuberose tobacco cognac. Unfortunately, it was not. A little tobacco shows up in the dry down, with just hints of cognac. But the generic hand soap vibe remains through the life of the fragrance.
TC is not my cup of tea, or glass of cognac. I was hoping for more of a boozy tobacco. Instead this is a Ambergris bomb on me. Sweet Ambergris that has a heavy floral vibe. So this is a pass for me.
I find TC to be much more feminine than masculine. But I do get good projection and longevity on my skin.

I was led to this fragrance by the wonderful perfumista at eaumg.net, whose opinions I trust whole-heartedly. Only recently did I start partaking of indie niche fragrances, and was a tad hesitant on this one at first. Alas, I took the plunge and am awfully glad that I did.
It’s a beautiful, sophisticated, warm, rustically elegant unisex artisan fragrance. The top notes are boozier (predictably so, given the name), and may be a bit startling upon application. But momentarily, this becomes a very subtle, Euro-chic scent that is easily evocative of some of the most romantic settings imaginable.
Its warmth and powdery softness recall a sunny afternoon stroll, while its darker honey, amber, and tobacco notes are perfectly indicative of an evening outing or late night conversation over coffee and cigarettes in an urban setting. With a moderate sillage and above average longevity, it remains lightly present and working its magic for several hours while never being overpowering. The dry down is darkly warm and sweet…but thankfully not syrupy. Seems slightly better suited for Fall, evening weather, but diverse enough to be wearable year-round.
The packaging was just as chic as the fragrance itself, as the 30ml bottle came encased in a most clever cardboard tube with attached logo and metallic lid, along with a personalized note from the House of Cherry Bomb ladies. Bravo!
At the current price point of $75.00 for the 30ml bottle, you won’t want to squander it. And I do hope they will eventually have a marketplace beyond the confines of Etsy.com. Nevertheless, this is one sexy, transporting scent that is rightfully deserving of its underground acclaim.
★★★½ (out of ★★★★).
