Beautiful on cold crisp winter days. Very captivating fragrance uplifting fresh sweet spicy all in one I don’t understand all the negativity to this beautiful juice most definitely a compliment getter with a good 6 to 7 sprays. Lasts all day also. All that for a reasonable price what now do you want. I love it.

I have to agree with the comments that it is pretty generic and feels heavily synthetic – but for some reason it works on me.
I could not find a tester so I blind-bought it since the price was pretty low, but what interested me were the juniper and gin notes in concert with the iris.
I think that’s why I like this – the woods are very generic, and in the drydown they go pretty powdery, which in my case is actually okay – it turns out I am a fan of generic powdery wood drydowns so long as they are the base layer for other notes that interest me, and in this case the juniper/iris does it for me layered on top of that generic, powdery wood base. In this way it has both generic and unique components.
I understand the criticism – the number of people who like this are pretty much going to be in one of two groups – novices to fragrance (and there should always been scents for this group, our hobby always needs newbies to get in the door and keep things going) and what I imagine to be a pretty narrow slice of the hobbyist pie that likes the generic components enough to keep them along for the ride with the more unique juniper/iris accord.
For me this is definitely a casual scent for spring/summer, a relaxing wear primarily for myself after work or in the evenings.

The Game is a fresh, slightly spicy juice. However, it’s a little generic and synthetic smelling. I got this a blind buy and wouldn’t buy it again. It reminds me strongly of 1881 Black. It’s OK I suppose but, I am disappointed with this.

Simply, uninspired and boring combination. Sure, sometimes less is more, but in this case it doesn’t working. Nothing other, than iris and wood from the top to the base. The top note is blast of juniper berry, and this is great, but after 10 minutes the whole scent become a generic iris-woody perfume. The drydown is a harsh, strong woody note. Not bad, not good, simply boring, I don’t like it.
    – Good on spring/fall/winter days, better for night than day
    – The sillage and the longevity are good, better then average, 6-7 hours
    – Safe blind buy
    Scent (open, top-mid): 7/10 (x2)
    Scent (drydown, base): 6/10 (x2)

    Longevity: 7.5/10
    Uniqueness: 7/10
    Versatility: 6.5/10

I am having a slightly different experience. Opens with all gin and berry for me which gives an alternative take on an aquatic. The floral and woodsy notes serve to anchor it down and give it depth.
This reminds me of what armani code smells like on my friend (but not on me). I prefer it a lot more than code which i gave away. My first wear left me wanting more. My wife unfortunately had only smelled the dry down and asked if the intention was to smell like clean laundry. On that note I gave away individual too but this one does the laundry without all the synthetic might of mont blanc.
My bias for Davidoff is that they always get me compliments and in some cases more. If you have dark toned skin, try hot water in fall.
Sometimes compliments aren’t enough though and I’ve given away silver shadow, cw deep, adventurer, champion.
This I’ll wear for me. It’s like they took champion and added armani code. Try in fall, it’s a great fall fresh scent.
Worn multiple times and the scent veers away from champion quite dramatically. It now reminds me of a more balanced bvlgari man which i found too stand offish and cold

I have to say that even though I bought this for my husband, I may keep it for myself for the winter months…not decided yet…
The very first opening top notes are not so great, but once it starts to settle on the skin it is very attractive. At that point it is quite linear and not complex, though pleasing.
Settles into a soft aromatic , powdery wood.
I managed to get it at a very good price – so happy with that – not sure if I would pay full price though.
Due to the numbers who didn’t like it – I suggest you definitely try before you buy.

I do like this scent but don’t love it. I feel it works well on cooler days or in the evenings. It’s longitivity is average at around 6 to 8 hours with projection being close and lasting for an hour or two. I get the berries, iris and the woody notes. I think this is sweet but maybe too sweet for some. I will continue to wear until I use the bottle up but I am not sure I will buy again. I strongly recommend testing and not blind buying this fragrance.Overall It’s not a bad fragrance if you can get it for a good price (£23 for 100ml) but any more then I wouldn’t, I would give this a 6 out of 10.

First of all, NOTHING about Davidoff the Game smells designer, at all! The opening of this fragrance features what i can boldly call an excuse of a gin note, with the synthetic mess immediately causing spews of nausea. I don’t even know what generation this was initially meant for, or why Davidoff even made this, but seriously, the worst perfume ever! I also happen to own the original La Nuit De L’homme, and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, and comparatively, the Game is a joke that i’ll never even try to laugh at. Total waste of money, and if any of you is thinking about buying this, please don’t…it will give you a heartache, literally! I especially don’t like the arabic vibe this has, and I presume this is why am having nausea issues. I opened the bottle once, about three weeks ago, I haven’t opened it again since then. This is a perfume I would trash in the bin and not feel regretful about it. Highly disappointed, and also seriously doubting if i’ll ever use any Davidoff product ever again.

Although I like The Game, negative reviews can be understood.
Note of iris flower dominates all the time, there is a hint of masculine base made of gin and juniper berries but iris is always there giving it the constant feminine vibe. To me that combination is made for 25+ women, not for men of any age.
Ladies, if you feel rough you can feel free to try a spray or two of The Game and see how it plays 😉

This fragrance is made primarily for mature guys but can also be worn by young adults in a formal setting.
I’m not too keen about the bottle but I love the top notes and Ebony woods at dry-down.
Longevity is 8 to 10 hours for me, can still smell it on my laundry the next day.
    Sillage is moderate.
One of my favorite frag so far in my collection!
    Spread the love. Cheers!

I usually like Davidoff fragrances but have to admit to not being too fond of “The Game”.
Just a bit too strong, synthetic and sickly. People have compared it to One million and I’m not a fan of that either, the fact that my clubbing days are well behind me (i’m more a festivals/gig person) might have something to do with that thou.
To me smells a bit strange and I would not be at ease wearing this.
I have a 20ml Card deck, if anyone wants to trade for anything PM me.

What a bad fragrance!Waaay too sweet and synthetic, diserves the pile of dislakes it got I got attracted to it by the somewhat tacky, but fun, bottle (and was expecting a playful scent, something young and fun), but the opening got me puking and what followed did not get things right. Shame on Davidoff.

    Great one Davidoff.
Sexy and dark smell, great for formalwear.
Longevity and projection are good but people will hardly be able to smell it in a festival/club it you don’t overuse it.
    8/10

I kept smelling this in stores and really liked it so ended up buying a 60ml but never found a good reason to wear it. It is trying to be a clubbing fragrance but there are a lot better alternatives out there. On the plus side, you can pick it up pretty cheap.

I don’t understand that amount of negative reviews I even consider it a safe fragrance rather than be hated!
I had it years ago and it was a gift before I got into fragrances and I remember that I liked the smell but the performance was very bad and definitely doesn’t worth the price.

  22. :

    5 out of 5

Smells like a more velvetier toned down version of kouros (which i dont like)
not particularly interesting but still somewhat nice and musky, sits really close to the skin giving a natural woody velvet smell, hints of berries, somewhat linear in its smell
have you ever put too much detergent in your wash? and after the dry down you get that strange detergent smell?
you definitely get hints of that in this fragrance.
much better perfumes out there, will be giving this to my sibling as it doesnt belong in my collection.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

Just like the name of the fragrance it is a Game if you’re blind buying guaranteed. Yes, at first i hated this fragrance but then it kinda grew on me a bit. The sillage and longevity are on strong and long settings for sure. The wood ingredients and gin alcohol are definitely overpowering the other flowery ingredients. It smells more pleasant and less powerful wood gin when it drying down. I don’t recommend to buy this on a blind buy, you need to sample to know before dropping the cash.

Being a fan of Davidoff I was put on track to try this fragrance ment for the younger audience than most Davidoff products.
One if the most irrelevant and synthetic smelling fragrances I have come across on my scent journey. Almost no effort has been put into making this fragrance irresistible like many other Davidoff fragrances. the bottle is cheap and low quality. What you sit back with when you have purchased this is a certain amount of ill smelling crap that is only good as a toilet freshener spray when faced with such challenge.
A classic big mistake scent made by Coty and it is nothing but a crap and waste of space fragrance.
    Overall Rating: 2/10

I Used to wear This, I Bought 1 60 Ml Bottle, at the time i was wearing this it did smell good but as time went by i started nt to enjoy the scent i could’nt even finish the bottle i js gave it to my older brother to finish it up, Two weeks later i was at the club with some friends and they came along with other guys i did’nt know as well and this other guy was wearing davidoff the game, i jus smelled him immediately and detected it, and asked him” dude are you wearing Davidoff The game? and he said oh yea i am, and asked how do I know it? told him used to wear it. So then we were dancing in the club and this dude starts dancing too and this Davidoff Smell starts to fill the dance floor and i’m smelling it all over and it starts to irritate me, i couldnt handle it anymore and just went straight to the private room and vomited, i could’nt handle the scent and I dont think I will ever handle it anymore, this scent is annoying and it will annoy you especially when ur drunk or ur drinking alcohol.

It is totally ordinary perfume with a pleasant woody-aromatic notes. When you buy a perfume you should expect it as much as you paid for it. With a low price I think it is a fresh fragrance with a intense opening notes.
I have it and I use it sometimes.
    Longevity and sillage both moderate
by the way … You can not ignore its Unique bottle

When I first smelled this one I knew it was a familiar smell. Took me awhile but then I nailed it. This is 100% unquestionably cherry-flavored sweet tarts.
Definitely a unique smell that will get you some attention if you are a younger guy at the bar or club, but by no means a classy scent.
Definitely screams energy and youth. And I say that in all the best and the worst ways.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

there is something wrong with this fragrance.
besides it doesn’t include any natural notes, it includes some synthetic, dominant and very long lasting note which is very annoying and disgusting.
there are also a bunch of fragrances around that include same note which i can not name.
how a fragrance house venture to produce this stinking thing to sell?
    don’t play this game!

OK so it’s a bit of a Million dupe I guess, but it has a lot of redeeming features, lasted enormously well on me, literally 10 hours, couldn’t believe it. Slightly syruppy sweet start, but it mellows to something quite addictive, for anyone brave enough to try M & S Autograph homme there are similarities. Quite impressed by The Game, like the bottle too.

  31. :

At First I hated this scent. The Gin fizz reminded me off a bad end to a night out.
But once that went the berries, iris and woods kicked in and it became pleasant. Hints of 1 million slightly reminded me of GIT ish.
Overall a slightly above average scent with a funky bottle.
    Lasting power, average 6/10
    Silage , moderate 6/10
Scent , average hints of something special but that is all 6.5/10
    Versatility, 7/10
    Overall , 6/10

  32. :

Smells like a cough syrup mixed with booze. The cough syrup is from the berries I’d guess. These two last throughout the lifetime of the scent which believe me isn’t long.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

Want a one million knock off for cheap?. Look somewhere else (AB the golden secret or Frank Olivier Passion). This one may have the vibe, but is not similar at all.
The Game has a fruity top, then it becomes more woody, but with a sweet feeling, but very masculine. A sweeter Champion…jummmm. I can even smell Vetiver on this one!!!!.
This reminded me of something, did not know what it was until I wore it a few days ago. It is similar to Cerruti 1881 Black, but more woody and less sweet.
Lasts a long time and projects fairly. This is not bad at all, just don’t pay retail.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

    Not especially interesting or attractive.
It smells a bit like the underside of a piece of furniture I have.
    Meh.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

For a sweet one it’s not that unattractive. I never turn out the nose for it. It’s imediately recognized as one of the sweet group of scents, but like what happens with CH 212 Vip, there’s some in it that lessen that sweetness and adds a fizzy feeling. I would’t say that’s cool water plus something else because we have Hot Water which is differente. The gin note, perhaps? Would be Gin what gives the fizzy feeling I also get from 212 Vip Men?
Somewhat neutral about this, I may very well be using it from time to time.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

Well, i’d say that the Game is successful and common at the same time. Don’t get me wrong, i wasn’t surprised by it, but thinking well, isn’t this a fragrance to enter the competition to win the average buyer? This is really a game where the strategy favors more the image and appearance you construct than the novelty or the essence itself. And the strategy seems to go from the point where a lot of competitors goes, One Million. Don’t confuse this by thinking that it smells like One Million, because it doesn’t. But it’s strategy on this game it’s the same of One Million: a sweet base, with shades of amber and woods, here married by a fougere fruity accord, with boozy aspects, like a lot of fragrances launched recently. The Game seems to look like new at the same time being what every other competitor, being the image what makes it a winner or looser. It’s not for me, i wouldn’t buy it and i think this structure is tiresome and dull, but if their aim was this, it’s, after all, a winner.

tried this on a tester strip and on skin and my 1st thought was were have i smelled this before…(No not one million either this bears no resemblence despite what ppl say …) so for days i wrakked my brains trying to think where and when id smelled it then it hit me this id 99% the same as david beckham signature story do a side by side and see for yourself any just on this frag u get good projection and good longivity but smells kinda cheap more suited to a young scallywag down the pub than a high rolling poker player down the casino as the ad sugests anyway overall 5/10

banal.I would never buy it.only floral and aromatic mixed together.bleah.

  39. :

Davidoff’s entry into the candy/bubblegum genre is pretty good I must say. It starts very interesting, perhaps it’s the gin note. Then it gets progressively sweeter and more berry like. It’s a long-lasting and powerful scent. It doesn’t require a lot of sprays to make itself noticed. While I’m not overall a huge fan of this type of scent I like The Game quite a bit and certainly more than others of the kind.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

To echo many of the comments below…Totally confused by the comparisons to 1 Million and Cool Water even? Crazy it’s nothing like them.
I love subtle notes of gin and wood and really like the fragrance at first try. I didn’t want to based on the campaign and the bottle (which is actually quite innovative) I find them a little vulgar too.
My criticism of this fragrance is like so many others available its a little bland and cheap/synthetic smelling but If you like it you like it…and I like it.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

The game by Davidoff, it’s quit different than others they made, it’s little intense & moderal with a nice small & mostly get a asia people alike ..

  42. :

    4 out of 5

I only have the shower gel, but I really like it! The scent lasts a good day or two in my hair (Just as well I don’t need to wash it every day, haha!).
To my nose, it smells sweet, smoky fruity and woodsy with – just maybe – some leather.
Not going to comment otherwise or rate on sillage/projection as I doubt those are of much relevance to scented proucts that aren’t actually perfumes.
For me, it’s a forbidden treat (I bought it on a ‘sickie’ day and went to London specifically just to use my Debenhams points on SOMETHING – this could not be better at a mere £3 for me!)

  43. :

    4 out of 5

Davidoff The Game is a weird mix of a laundry detergent (the opening) and modern masculine “1 million” molecules (the base). Actually that’s the most chemical detergent smell of a fragrance that I ever smelled. Though it’s not so bad, it is wearable, mild, for those, who seek for a lighter version of Paco Rabanne 1 Million and by the way love the smell of clean clothes.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

i don’t really like the smell, but the bottle is perfect!

  45. :

    4 out of 5

Smells like the original Coolwater mixed with Parco Rabanne’s One Million.
Rather generic. The typical spicy woody male cologne scent you’d smell in dozens other fragrances at the store.
However, there’s also a tinge of fizziness to this scent that makes it a little sparkling. And, it’s lacking the cloying sweetness you’d find in One Million.
    Verdict: Meh.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

I don’t understand all the dislikes on this. My boyfriend tried it earlier this week and it was really nice. Second to Adventure IMO, and Adventure is NICE!!
My brother wears One Million and I honestly didn’t get any similarities with that. To my nose One Million is all about Cinnamon and Amber, The Game is woody, spicy Iris with a slight hint of fruit.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

Trust me on this – the drydown is really alcoholic. It’s horrid, like cheap cologne (Lynx cologne).

  48. :

    5 out of 5

I sampled this today and totally agree with Endymion’s comment that it smells EXACTLY like Cerruti 1881 Black – despite their totally different ingredients! Thus it’s no more than a softly woody and spicy, modern, pleasant, but ultimately quite shy and humdrum fragrance. I must admit though that I do like the look of the novelty bottle, and the whole package seems targeted at those in their 20s. I can’t comment decisively on the sillage and longevity, but from my sampling and concurring with the comments below, it’s no more than moderate.

  49. :

    4 out of 5

from the first sniff it reminds one million….in other words another clone of it…..”the game” which will be the successor and best seller beyond one million continues…..if you like a successful perfumes, make it to smell like others….and everybody wants to knock out one million instead of trying to do something unique themselves….
UPDATE: i smelled it on a friend last night and it is not 1 million. The beginning as i remember, has something from 1 million but on the dry down, there are no similarities. It was a nice perfume, will try it on my skin and see.
Generally speaking, is 1 million, only the very dry down is a bit different. all others remind VIP MEN and 1 MILIION

Just purchashed this… I smelt it at the shop and loved it. Only the day after to regret it. Let me first say, I dig this scent. Its spicy, sexy and smart. I also get tbe one million comparison. I currently have one million on one hand and The Game on the other. Add spice and what smells like oranges to One Million and you have this fragrance. Its actually really nice to my nose. Now the problem is with the projection and longevity. On my skin the projection is about 2 inches after 20 minutes…. I may add I sprayed 6 times in the same spot… Longevity. On me, 1 hour.. if that. To test this I sprayed my neck 6 times, arms 3 times and wrists 3 times each. No shit, an hour gone by I asked my partner if she could smell the fragrance on me… guess the answer. No. I could just about pick it up with my nose pressed against my skin. Do not buy this without testing it on your skin. Luckily I only bought the 40ml bottle for fear it would turn out to be useless. This is kind of upsetting to me as I really like the fragrance. But what use is it if people not 2 feet away cant smell it and it vanishes within the hour. Save your money.

this actually smells good n better sillage than the rest of Davidoff. whats with so many dislike on this one eh?

  52. :

    3 out of 5

I see the nod towards 1million, but this is more subtle. Game has quite a good tenacity for this type of fragrance and it’s quite clever as i totally see what image they are trying to generate: young guy with a new job in his new leather seat car with loose dollars on the dashboard checking out the ladies …or …men

  53. :

    4 out of 5

it smells so woody with spicy inside, which is very ordinary among the male perfume.what i like most is the slogan”winner takes all” but unfortunately, the perfume doesn’t show a lot of the meaning.

  56. :

This one appears like a mixture of two scents, as if they were worn together. One could be a sweet one and the other one a light manly one. For instance, Davidoff’s own Adventure mixed with Hot Water. Although this one develops quite nicely after a while, it seems as if Davidoff waste some inspired new names on scents that are just mediocre.

  57. :

I own this scent, blind bought it after I read the notes, and thought it would be a long lasting iris based scent. And to an extent I was right.
It is iris based throughout the scent, with a hint of berries in the drydown.
In short, this is a quicktime scent, it may as well be an eau de cologne it is that weak !
I applied 5 shots to the neck and chest.
from 0 to 30 mins there is a 6 inch projection. Nice iris intro.
30 mins to an hour, it is already down to a 2 inch projection, berries creeping in; nice smell.
2 hours later and it is gone. Very quick to get off the skin.
If this works well on your skin it could be a very nice scent, but for me it is awful, which makes this a bad blind buy.
If you can test this on your skin before you buy, do, see how it goes, if it stays with you, it warrants a purchase, as it’s quite cheap.

I remember back in 2008 when One Million came out, everybody was talking about how tacky, bad taste and cheap the bottle was. Then they smelled the juice and the rest is history… top seller around the globe for the last years. I admit it´s tempting to bash out some new fragrance for their bottles or ads (i did it with Versace Eros for example), but the bottom line is that it´s all about the liquid inside, if the juice is great, everybody will forget in a second about how bad the bottle looks!

    @krayonkid
I never rate a fragrance until I test it 🙂
It also annoys me much if someone rates before even smelling 😉
My review is upon the cover of the substance (name, design, marketing etc.).

Guys, if you’re going to rate the perfume based on the bottle and presentation, why not wait for the review instead of disliking the fragrance based just on what you see?
