Seems a bit hard to find… Seems a bit hard to wear too. Spray seems a bit peppery, then dries into a somewhat metallic scent with descent longevity and projection.
Overall: Perhaps a cool and rare novelty to add to your collection… Perhaps a fragrance best for winter months as well… Enjoy if you can.

For a ‘cheapie’ fragrance, this one exceeds all expectations. Reached for this one today after a shower, and I was remarkably surprised. From using it in the past (I’ve had this for a year or so), I recognize that it has a certain familiar feel to it, ala Dior Sauvage/Dylan Blue style of smell (a sweet/fresh shower-gel vibe that is just so intoxicating). It has that awesome fruity/sweet/shower-gel opening that we are so familiar with, yet cannot get enough of. As it starts to drydown it becomes an amazing fresh bright citrus and light woodsy smell, but is not cloying in the least. Picture citrus juice sitting atop a plank of fresh wood, and think of that smell. it doesn’t drydown to the usual woody “funk” that far too many mens fragrances drydown to, it is actually pleasant and remains a nice bright fresh woody smell until it is no longer detected.
One way I can describe this scent is the opening of Dylan Blue and Ferrari Cedar Essence combined together. With a touch of Dior Sauvage for good measure.
Stetson might be a cheap brand, but there has been many gems over the years that have been cemented into my memory forever (Stetson Original for example, which is a picture perfect scent of the Western Cowboy in the United States during the 90’s). Another Stetson that seems overlooked/forgotten is Stetson Untamed, which for some reason isn’t even listed on Fragrantica. Yet when that fragrance was released it was the Dior Sauvage of it’s time about 15 years ago (women in my area were overwhelmingly taken by it’s scent… perhaps it was a western California thing). I still have a tiny bit left of the bottle I got over a decade ago, and to this day nothing else in my absurdly large collection (or even sampled) smells anything like it. I’ve been trying to find something even remotely close, but for some reason that style of fragrance is gone forever… whatever style it was.

A blind buy, I bought a 1 oz bottle of Caliber at a discount store, bundled for Father’s Day with a shower gel and an aftershave balm, for $8. One of the best bargain scent purchases I’ve made.
Caliber is unlike anything in the Stetson line, as far removed from Stetson for Men as one could imagine. Caliber opens with a sharp, metallic blast of lime and other fresh notes that strongly resemble the opening of Cuba Paris Prestige Black. The similarities continues through the middle notes but end after a few hours to where the real surprise of Caliber reveals itself—a woodsy, mossy skin scent that is much more sophisticated than one would expect from such an inexpensive cologne.
It is because of its cheap price that I’ve been so generous in its use: as a post-shower evening scent, casual weekend wear, and as a safe, non-offensive work fragrance. However, because of the lack of projection and longevity, you have to be generous in your spraying of Caliber.

Skip the alternatives, particularly the cheap kind. This is bar none the best interpretation of Stetson I’ve found.

Great fragrance. I’m really surprised that it hasn’t received more attention than it has.. Exactly as it is advertised… A Modern day Stetson that’s easily suitable for anyone in their mid 20s on up…. As already stated, can be used in most seasons but is especially great in fresh to cool temps.

I knew that I was going to love it as soon as I hit the sprayer. Too soon to rate performance but high marks based on scent for an updated daily men’s cologne. Easily worth the cheap price for me. If you are a fan of spicy aromatics then you really don’t have much to lose.

Released in 2014, Coty tried to make a modern Stetson. They wanted it to be based around the character of the 2010’s hard-working man. And by smelling what they came up with, I can see where they get it from. Sadly though Stetson Caliber is a scent that missed the boat.
I feel it is one that people went to sleep on or didn’t realize it came out (which can explain the limited reviews including up until recently two years after its release and on YouTube.) It is one you really only see at Christmas now or online which is a shame.
It opens with a very citrusy based off of the key lime (a rather bold decision as it isn’t too common.) It is much more light and refreshing but it reminds me of a fragrance I have smelt and used before, but I just can’t put my finger on it. Then the Stetson spice kicks in after about an hour but with a strong nutmeg scent, making it much more socially acceptable. It can be used in most seasons including summer (climate can remove summer though.) The sillage is pretty good with becoming a skin scent at about 5 hours. It lasts about 10 hours in total, which is very long especially considering it is a drug store price.
The pricing brings me to another point, it is very really reasonably priced though I am sure drug store fragrance insults can be thrown at it. I found it for $5 on Amazon which happens from time to time, but typical pricing is around $15 for 1oz/30ml which is well worth it. The only one I’ve seen higher than 1oz is 2oz/60ml but it is a splash with Stetson and Stetson Fresh rather than an atomizer like the 1oz.
Overall, Stetson Caliber is pretty good scent. It annoys me that I can’t figure out what cologne I’ve used has a similar DNA to it (other than Stetson). I’d rate it an 8.4/10 for this as well as price and availability. The two knocks I have for it are the fact you can’t find it in stores too often besides a Big Lots and that it only comes in a 1oz/30ml or 0.5oz/15ml size which is good for travel sized scents BUT not when you are like me and love this fragrance. I just wish it was more available.
Edit: After conferring with coachmac84, I found the scent smells like a less animalic Drakkar Noir mixed with a far less boozy McGraw. That was what I couldn’t put my finger on with this scent in my original review.
