Oh how I love this little gem…it’s a sweetheart of a fragrance created by the lovely and talented Dawn Spencer Hurwitz for women on the special ‘day of love…and if you are an old fashioned romantic like me, this a must. The chocolate is beautiful and realistic, and pairs perfectly with a favorite of my notes, the violet. They are the main players here with rose softly in the background and as it dries it becomes a beautiful makeup vanity scent.
I feel like a diva in an old black and white movie lying on purple satin sheets eating a box of chocolates right after a floral infused bath, dusted and powdered! I am in love with this little bottle of fairy juice and feel so pampered…it’s perfect to me Happy Valentine’s Day too all!!
This sweet little scent plays cupid 😉

I have received a stash of samples from one of my favorite swappers and I vowed that I would write reviews for most of them. Partly to remember what I have had the good fortune to sample but also to fill in the blanks on some of the more remote fragrances.
As I am NOT a powdery perfume lover nor do I care for violets on me, St Valentine’s is a far cry from anything I would purchase for myself.
Having said this, it is a lovely concoction that elicits visions of a Victorian lady’s vanity with a glimmering crystal powder box filled with rose talcum, nearby a tin of violet pastilles and a fragile demitasse of rich cocoa.
Quite a lovely and long lasting portrait of femininity!

This opened like a cherry sponge cake dessert, wow! Totally edible and mouthwatering opening.
From there within a few minutes it got a bit of a sharper tinge (violet/rose, that bitter tinge they give sometimes when juxtaposed again a previous very sweet scent) & VERY powdery. I find the drydown quite similar to Keiko’s Loukhoum &/or Loukhoum Poudree from memory. Very similar indeed.

This is such a beautiful fragrance. It’s very sheer and light. It opens with candied violets and sugar coated rose petals on a very light dusted cocoa powder.
