MONACO – :
I was generously gifted a decant of this lovely scent by @theredolentmermaid.
I used to own diptyque L’Eau in the old square bottle version which is a spice bomb with an underlying bitter vibe to it. As much as I loved it, I could not often wear it. It was overwhelming to me. I have since tried so many other cinnamon or clove fragrances (many indies, modern and vintage Opium, older packaging of Cinnabar, vintage Dolce Vita, SL Serge Noire) but they felt either too powdery, suffocating or stifled on my skin. The Lutens always smell masculine on my dry skin, sadly.
But… This is it. This is the Malmaison scent for me. My decant is the voile de Parfum version and it is absolutely divine. The soft rounded florals are what makes this perfect for me and it is lacking the heavier effect that vintages have. I’m in love. I finally have my own “tiger balm” scent. Haha
Lovely Rose, Carnation and Jasmine with apparent cloves and cinnamon on a vanilla base. I get little Patchouli. it is a real essential oil Patchouli here, not a fruitchouli. Most of the other notes have supporting roles on my skin. The voile de Parfum texture is amazing if your skin tends to be drier like mine.
